Fans of the Underworld films are going to really enjoy this one. Its set in the not to distant future where supernatural breeds have been outed. Vampires and werewolves hate each other and our hero, vampire Lucien is hunting for a cure for his sister who has been bitten by a werewolf and lies dying of lycan toxin unless he can help her. He's led to sexy human expert Professor Natalie Sergova who may know something - only problem.... He knew her 40 years ago as Nina and she was murdered because he wasn't there to save her....

There's a really good balance between romance and story in this one - the two blend seamlessly. The other thing I liked was the heroine. Particularly in the second half she kicks ass, she doesn't wait to be rescued and is reasonably strong. Vampires, hybrids, experimentation on supernaturals, romance... check check check. Not bad at all and a few unexpected twists at the end. I liked how Vincent was grief stricken and angry rather than out and out evil. The worse thing about this is the really stupid title - the book itself is much better than you'd think.

The author can't do anything about the cover and the title, which are terrible, but not her fault. I liked the heroine, Natalie, but I found Lucien, the hero, less interesting. He comes across as weak whenever he's in his father's presence. I didn't find the romance between the two likely and thought Natalie deserved better.

The cover picture can be ignored as the hero is better than that. He is not a sleazy snake oil con man, magician type.
