Entertaining, funny and romantic

Lumberjack Boss is a feel-good, romantic comedy that had me chuckling through the whole book over these two unlikely characters with their clever zingers and witty banter.

With each chapter as read, I swear, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s characters from the movie, Overboard, were being channeled through the hero and heroine, Leo Jackman and Hazel Smith. Loved Hazel with her funny, snarky remarks and Leo volleyed her stuff right back with his brusque witticism.

Hazel is light-hearted, warm and easy to laugh. But she’s got her hands full when it comes to using that charming personality on Leo. He’s a loner, surly, and working hard for his company is his main priority. When Hazel makes a maiden journey to Lover’s Trail, a place where her parents fell in love, she’s disappointed to learn it’s destined for construction for new homes by L Jack Industries, Leo’s company. She’s determined to stop the trail’s destruction. Hazel is unstoppable and resolved to get into Leo’s business any way she can, and her antics are laugh-out-loud entertaining. Both are stubborn, neither one wants to give in. And they’re not above using seduction to sway the other. But a storm hits, and things get pretty steamy in the cabin. Leo and Hazel learn they have more in common, and the chemistry is irresistible.

I first read this novella which was part of the Begging For Bad Boys anthology. Ms. Kiss brings us a story with delightful characters, scintillating dialogue, and a wonderful plot that is utterly romantic. I highly recommend this book for fans who love their romance with wit and humor.

1.5 stars Man, he was an asshole.

I don't like Leo that much. He was selfish, cold and ...I just did not understand him. He didn't take Hazel seriously, he never thought that maybe her reason was important to others too. I was very disappointed when he didn't stop the project for her. Or at least do something instead of cutting her the tree and saying "here, take this stupid tree" when he came to, apparently, apologize. He let her sleep in the dirt outside his house where a bear could easily kill her. He tossed her an eaten apple after almost two days of her starving, he let her freeze outside in his porch on a storm and when he finally let her inside, he looked through her bag, grabbed her mother's diary and made fun of her parents' memory. I just don't see how this should be a likeable hero. I tried to like him. I really did. But as the story went on he just turned worse and worse. He was cute for a second in the epilogue, but then he said how he only let her inside his house because of the storm and I just...no.

I am disappointed. The story started so good, I loved Hazel and her character. Her mother's diary and her parents' story made me share a couple of tears. Sadly, even after falling for her, the "hero" thought it was only sentimental bullshit.

This was a funny, sexy, sassy and sweet romance book that I really enjoyed. Leo & Hazel really kept the dialogue going and the heat aplenty! The sexual tension is there yet it plays well with the storyline and the plot is tight and keeps moving fast but not that you feel lost, it is just right.
Tabatha Kiss's work is always great and this is another example of a winner! Leo and Hazel provide the steam-- Lumberjack Boss brings the banter, brings the heat and also brings romance and the love. This is one romance you don’t want to pass up!

The project is smooth sailing now, after two years of Leo's life, it is finally time to begin the big project. He can't be happier either. This might be the way for his dad to see him as a true business man and not look down his nose at him. All this smooth sailing means one thing for Leo.....trouble ahead, and it comes in the sexy form of Hazel.

Her parents died two weeks ago, so to honor them Hazel is going to save the forest area that the two of them began their life together. Only she finds out that there is some lumberjack company plans to tear it down to make room for a more built up area. How can she let this happen? Well, she can't, so she goes in search of the company responsible for doing this....only she wasn't anticipating who she would meet.

Hazel is a very passionate woman. When her heart and mind in attached to something, she is a no holds barred kind of girl. She just lost her parents, and finding her mom's diary Hazel's passion is ignited to save the forest that started the happy ever after her parents had. When she hears about this being torn down to make room for some buildings and things that wouldn't preserve the land, she can't sit idly by. She is now in the office of Leonard (aka Leo) and is all set to talk him out of his big project. Only Hazel is going to find out just how stubborn Leo can be.

Leo walks into the office, he is feeling especially good today. Things at work are going great. He is practicing the big presentation for the board, formality for the final step in this project. Things are looking up and great. That is until he walks into the office and his assistant proceeds to tell him who that gorgeous woman in the waiting area is and why she is here. Leo doesn't even pretend to listen and flat lines her with NO right from the start. But this is not the last he will see of her. He can't believe how stubborn she is.

There is a bit of a stalking quality to little miss Hazel. She waits for Leo in the parking garage, sits outside his house overnight, and continues to do so when a bad storm rolls in. Leo is not wanting her to die during this silent protest due to the weather so he has her come into his house. Sparks (to say the least) fly between these two even more than before. Then just like that they no longer fight each other, they heat up very quickly. And just as quickly as they heat up they burn out. Stubborn reasons on both sides.

Leo does something so romantic and unexpected. When he surprises Hazel at her house with it, he explains what it is, and turns to leave. Hazel can't allow that to happen either. So her stubborn ways help keep these two getting back together. All the bickering and bantering and hot sex moments, thank goodness they get their happy ever after.

On the bus, Hazel tells the story to a woman sitting beside her about how her mom and dad met in these woods they were currently heading toward. Hazel had found her deceased mom’s diary and this story meant a great deal to her. That’s what inspired her to come here and see where her parents had fallen in love. And maybe she would find someone special there too?

As they rode along, a loud bang indicated the bus had a flat tire. But Hazel spotted a sign that said Lover’s Trail, exactly the spot where her parents had met, was 1 mile ahead! It could not be a coincidence! She grabbed her bag and exited the bus. The campground in the woods was long deserted, so she continued down the path until she was stopped by a fence. A sign announced that this was the future site of Jackman Springs’ housing development! A piece of her just-discovered family history was going to be destroyed to put up houses!!!

Leo and his assistant, Bobby, are practicing the presentation speech about the new multi-million-dollar housing development. This is a huge project for Leo, who was going to give his pitch to the board on Monday. He paced in front of his desk and refused Bobby’s invitation to relax and have a drink at the local bar.

The next day Hazel goes to the office building to talk to Mr. Jackman about cancelling the building project. She thinks 5 minutes and her mom’s diary will convince him. But she burns her tongue on coffee as he returns to the office, and her lisp makes it hard to understand her. After a hilarious dialog, the security guards haul her out of the office. When he finishes the day’s work and heads for the parking garage, she startles him and again demands 5 minutes of his time.

The book is thoroughly enjoyable, especially the verbal sparring between Leo and Hazel. All she can see is the romantic relationship her parents had in this magical place. She wants to find that for herself too. She sees nothing as coincidence – everything that happens brings her to where she is supposed to be. No matter how many obstacles present themselves, she won’t give up in trying to save this important piece of her family history. Will she be successful? Will her determination stand up to a multi-million-dollar building project that is critical to Leo’s proving himself? You won’t want to miss this one!

This was truly a great love story. Tabatha Kiss did not disappoint. It sort of funny as you are reading this story you will see that both Hazel and Leo are so much a like but yet so different. Both are truly hard headed and one that is determined to get what they want.

Hazel had her heart on visiting the place where that changed her parents life. Lover's Trail was a piece of her family history. It was a place where her parents conceived her. Finding her mother's diary and learning all this is was a place she felt would change her life.

I can not imagine the heartache that Hazel felt when she discovered that Lover's Trail was going to be destroyed. I truly loved her passion and determination. She is a character that will fight for what she believes in and saving Lover's Trail is something she strongly believes in.

Leo was the CEO of L Jack Industries. Thought he has this lumberjack look he is also a billionaire. He was excited about this project he was working on. This was something he was passionate about. He had worked hard on this project for 2 years and now here he is faced with this little spit fire that wants to change his mind.

As Leo and Hazel get to know each other they will use sex to try to win the other to their way of thinking. Yeah, that does not work out so well.

Things will be get very hot and heavy and Leo and Hazel will start to develop feelings. They are like a piece to a puzzle that completes the other. It was so funny, Hazel wanted to go to Whitefish, Montana to find this life changing that that her parents felt not realizing when it was right before her eyes.

This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read the story.

What a fantastic read! Right from the beginning I knew these characters would be very easy to love (as with all of Tabatha’s books). I loved how Leo and Hazel first met, I loved the spark that was between them right from that moment and the banter between them was great, I had my fair share of laughs throughout the whole book. I absolutely loved Hazel’s spark, determination and her whole persona, she was an amazing character to read about and easy to love right along with Leo. I loved how she wouldn’t give up for something she believed and stuck to what she wanted. I felt Leo was the exact same and I thought they were perfect for each other, loved their interactions especially some of the ones involving Pearl (Such a cutie!). I loved how sweet and cute Leo was towards Hazel at times and other times very hot.
This book was such a great read that I couldn’t put down. It was very well written and Tabatha has once again done a phenomenal job. I loved the storyline, strong characters, the humour and the very hot and steamy scenes between Leo and Hazel. And I absolutely loved that very cute ending! Would love to have got to know more about them though

Hazel’s heart is set on saving Lover’s Trail & in order to do this she has to appeal to Leo’s softer side. She didn’t realize that Leo is a stubborn bull and he is headstrong in all his business decisions. Hazel is no pushover though; she gives it back to him as good as she gets it. Her story is such a tear jerker, and for us hopeless romantics, when you hear it you’ll want to save the day for her. Leo doesn’t though. They both decide that they are going to seduce the other in order to get them to change their stance. Only that doesn’t work and feelings quickly get involved.

This book is a quickie that is so spicy you’ll fall in love with Leo & Hazel. Tabatha Kiss writes a great romance. This is steamy and sweet at the same time. It’s not a very long read; but the pacing is good. And it’s one of those books that once you start, you won’t want to put down. Next thing you know you’ll be done with the book and wanting to start it again.

The first 34% of this book was very boring and somewhat predictable. Some cute banter between Leo and Hazel but not enough to keep me from yawning. After 34% it was great. Almost seemed like a whole different person wrote the second half. Lots of sex from there with more banter. Some love and heartbreak. I still can't believe how arrogant Leo is after everything that happens between him and Hazel. The ending was good too. Glad that Leo came to his senses.

Overall the book was okay. I personally don't see myself rereading this one. I've read others by this author that were fantastic but this one didn't draw me in.

This is absolutely a wonderful and enjoyable story! Hazel is on a path to regain some of her history after the unexpected death of her parents. She goes to find Lover's Trail where her mothers journal tells where her parents fell in love. She meets Leo who has worked tirelessly for two years to build a modern day luxury housing development. I loved how Hazel stood up for all her beliefs no matter what it cost her, even sleeping on Leo's front step, haha. It was great to see how they each thought their decisions to spend time together would help change the others opinions on saving or building on Lover's Trail! They have a great connection and their chemistry is off the charts. I felt sad when Leo kicks Hazel out and how she went and did something to throw a wrench in his plans. Gotta love girl power. In the end what Leo does for Hazel just shows how much someone will do for true love. Tabatha has written a home run!! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

First off I laughed so hard during this story and I absolutely loved it. Hazel meets Leo when she goes to his office to protest his tearing down a trail where her parents went on a honeymoon and probably conceived her. Her dad wrote their names on a tree while there and she wants to save it. Instead she gets on Leo's nerves and does some crazy stuff to get home to listen. When a storm hits and she is on his porch he invites her in since she wouldn't be able to leave even if she wanted. They fight, make up, fight, make up, fight etc. but only one person can get what they want...either her trail will be saved or Leo's construction goes ahead...who will it be?
An amazing story with oh my steamy scenes but what I really enjoyed is the fact that Leo wasn't a man wh*** and the banter between the two, that at times left me in stitches. Not only that but the ending was a pleasant and happy surprise that I didn't see coming.

I do believe Tabatha Kiss is the queen of rage-filled, flirty banter-fights.
So good.
So, so good.

I need a Bobby book, though. That groomed sass-quatch needs his own tempestuous lady love. I declare it!

Ps. I need to stop reading hot lumberjack books. The lack of actual hot lumberjacks in my vicinity is becoming extremely disappointing. How hard is to rustle up one of these?:

I loved Hazel and her passion and she is smart too boot. Tabatha Kiss does a good job of portraying Hazel's passion for her mission. Leo seems to be a jerk but he's just looking at the bottom line. Tabatha Kiss does a good job of portraying Leo's frustration with Hazel and her cause. What makes it worse is he doesn't listen to what anybody says. The exchange between Hazel and Leo is hot and comical, they both think they are getting the upper hand on the other. I believe I read Lumberjack Boss in Begging for Bad Boys. I enjoyed it the second time around. Tabatha Kiss gives you passion, comedy and hot sex. It can be a little predictable but I'm okay with that. This story in my opinion is lots of fun. The one thing I appreciate the most is Hazel and Leo did not profess their love after just twp days. This is a fast, feel good story and in my opinion it is worth taking a look at.

3.75 stars

This a quick ready with very steamy moments between enemies who become lovers. Hazel and Leo are on opposites sides about a development being constructed which leads them into a standoff...a very sexy standoff. Will Hazel change Leo's mind about Lover's Trail? Will Leo let a woman he barely knows ruin a project he worked so long and hard for?

I have to say I enjoyed Leo's annoying business man attitude, he reminded me of big child who was being denied something they wanted. Now as for Hazel, I have to say I did find her annoying at times; I could understand why she wanted to save the trail but basically her arguments were all based on what she wanted. She never had plans to help rebuild the trail or live in the area, she just wanted to save it because of the connection her parents' had to the place.

Lumberjack Boss is a heartfelt love story with some kick. Hazel is a young woman who has lost her way. She is looking for a way to rekindle her spark and find her life’s purpose. She comes across her Mother’s diary and decides to follow in her footsteps in the hope of finding the all-encompassing love that her parents found in their special place along a trail in the woods. However when she arrives at the location, she is smacked with the harsh reality that a company is going to tear down the woods and build new homes. Can Hazel convince Leo, the owner of the construction company, to stop the building and move to another location? You have to read it to find out….
The writing and storyline are delightful and when the author throws in some of her renowned snarky commentary it just adds to the reader’s overall enjoyment.

Hazel is bound and determined to stop Leo the CEO of L Jack Industries from destroying the area on the Lovers Lane Trail where her parents conceived her, according to her mother's journal.
After being escorted off the property she takes her chances with Leo's Residence- the two go at it with battle wits that are humous, to say the least, thinking they both have the upper hand on each other- they take their fight between the sheets, or are they still battling it out?
Loved this humorous, sexy, fast paced alpha male lumbered up read! The banter alone was enough to keep me reading, add in the hotness with the emotional, angsty feel I was all in! Tabitha Kiss did not disappoint!

I absolutely loved this book!! Hazel is hilarious, stubborn, a romantic, and determined. Leo is a business man, logical, cocky, and sexy. Together they make my favorite couple. Hazel is set on saving the place her parents fell in love and Leo is ready to demolish it and build Jackman Springs. They both set out to persuade the other to change their mind and with that comes a sexy, fun filled weekend. I laughed out loud with these two going back and forth. Simply hilarious! I cried after the board meeting and wanted to scream at Leo. Leo redeems himself and I found myself gasping at the queen. I think that was the sweetest moment (read to find out what that means)! I highly recommend this story. Another hit from Tabatha! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

As a fan of Tabatha Kiss's work I've come to expect funny, cheeky, and sexy romance's full of humor, heat and emotion. Lumberjack BOSS is no exception. Hazel and Leo are stubborn and manipulative and explosive together. The game of who can be the most persuasive is both hot and funny. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a quick read that kept me smiling and giggling throughout. Tabatha Kiss excels at smart, witty banter full of puns and innuendos. I have read other books from Tabatha and truly loved them. This one is ok but didn't gasps nor held my attention. Hazel Smith mission was a tad unorthodox and her actions are overwhelming considering the storyline. Leopold Jackson is a billionaire owning a lumber and real estate developer wanting more for a dying town. I like Leo enthusiasm, he was true to his decisions no matter what was said or done but possesses an arrogant attitude. These two just didn't persuade me enough to invest in their forced relationship.

Leo is the CEO of the company that just so happens to want to develop the land that means so much to Hazel.
When Hazel and Leo meet sparks fly just not the kind that make you feel fuzzy inside. With each one trying to out stubborn the other they find something that neither one was looking for.

I loved Leo and Hazel so much! Hazel’s idealism and sentimentality made her all the more real and charming. Leo’s all business despite his solitude and peaceful living. These two clash like oil and water but go together like oil and vinegar - tasty! Their banter is amusing and unique. The story of her trying to save an area he is developing commercially was realistic, but her actions frequently had me shaking my head and/or laughing. The one upping each other never got tiring and their chemistry was off the charts! This is another smash hit from Tabatha in my opinion.

Excellent contemporary billionaire romance. Leo is one of a long line of men in his family & company that revitalize areas into new developments. He's been working hard for two years to get the recent site started. Hazel comes along after recently reading her mother's journal. It's funny how they interacted yet he didn't want to hear her pleas to save the area of the new site. She had an emotional investment whereas he has a financial one and to show his father he's capable. The main characters at times were like oil and water yet at other times they sizzle. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by author Ms. Kiss.

I first read this in Begging for Bad Boys Bundle and am so glad that this has now got its own release. Hazel and Leo are brilliant in this story and had me laughing out loud many a times in this sassy and stubborn romance story. Hazel is adamant to stop Leo's housing development that he has worked hard to get up and running, Leo is adamant nothing will get on his way. This leads to some very interesting repartee between these stubborn characters that eventually leads to some hilarity and sexiness in a cabin during a storm!

It's well worth reading!

It's not summer where I live, it's not sunny and hot with long days, it's cold and wet with short days.
So I have been reading alot, alot!
Opened this one and though hmm I have read this before, different title I thought, differnt author I thought? But nah after some thinking I realised it was part of Begging for Bad Boys which I got a couple of months ago and read some of.
My other excuse for not putting things together quicker, is I was also recovering from major surgery at the time and my wee brain was a little befuddled.

So enjoyed the plot and the characters and the story line what more do I want?
