Romantic Suspense - An ex-football player, a swimmer, and someone out to kill them...
What started out as a harmless game between friends has turned deadly real. Fourteen men are dead, all from apparent accidents. The only thing tying them together is their names on a list compiled by three teenage girls ten years ago. Only one man remains alive, but time is running out.. . Jacqueline Sera forgot all about the lists she created with her friends, until the names keep popping up in the obituaries. Suddenly their fun game has morphed into a chilling nightmare. When the authorities refuse to believe her outrageous claims of a serial killer, she turns to the one man the killer hasn't eliminated, the man she has always loved.
Matt Dianetti is skeptical of Jacqueline's claims but can't deny the disturbing coincidences. When incidents mount, and with the killer closing in, they must race to stop an unknown enemy who wants to permanently cross Matt's name off The List.

I'm going to review the entire series here rather than go a book at a time.
I always hesitate to pick up indie novels because so often the writing is distracting. Indie authors rarely want to spend money for an editor, or at least run their novels through a good critique group. And normally, poor writing makes an otherwise enjoyable story hard to really get into because the writing SNAFUs pull you out of the story.
Here, I have to say that Velvet Vaughn's novels are so packed with good action and some mystery that the uneven writing rarely bothered me. There are some rather serious issues with tense (she writes almost EVERYTHING in basic past tense, even when the characters are remembering something that happened before the events in the book, and past perfect would make it clearer), the occasional malapropism (a character lets another PROCEED him, another wants to RING someone's neck, a character POURED over a file) and pronoun antecedent issues (the scene has three male characters, and "he" is used without a preceding reference to clarify which of them did something). These issues did slow me down at times, but I enjoyed the stories so much that I didn't want to reduce it to three stars.
It's rare that I highly recommend an indie series, but this one is worth reading even though the writing is spotty.
As teenagers, Jacqueline Sera and her two friends made lists of the hot guys they wanted to hook up with. When she sees an obituary on one of her picks, she realizes that he's not the only one on their lists who is dead -- 14 of the 15 men have died of 'accidental' causes. The police don't believe her, so she takes the warning directly to guy #15 -- ex-football player Matt Dianetti. With help of his friend's security company, they realize that both he and Jac are in danger.
It's a unique and intriguing premise, and the mystery itself is good. Though honestly, the police are clueless in the beginning -- I mean, how many 'accidental' deaths can you chalk up to 'coincidence' before you start looking for other causes? Matt and Jac are a great couple, and his daughter Lauren is awesome.
There are a couple of spots where miscommunication becomes an issue, like the typical romance novel trope, and he's a total jerk near the end, but not badly enough so he can't be forgiven. All in all it's a very good book and hopefully the start to a good series.
Totally worth the read and can't wait to start on more Cobra Security stories.
Matt and Jac plus Lauren we can't forget Lauren I totally love that kid but let's gloss over the romance and Matt being a totally dick near the end lol and talk about the thrilling storyline which I just loved and I totally loved it cause I totally thought the baddie was either Nicole or Nellie so the ending was an awesome chilling surprise and totally heartbreaking when you get the full story but wow poor Jacs to be stalked and stalked and to top it all off with a serial killer after her you'd have to think that was a lifetime of bad luck right there lol.... WOw
Great characters awesome story brilliant twists and turns.
I'm not sure what to think... for sure I'm not the right person to review writting as I'm not native but imho it was written pleasent enough for me to make it till the end :)
But I can't shake the feeling that first 65% of the book is just set of loosly connected events, put there just to keep the pace, but it all felt too rushed to fully enjoy the plot. It has fenomenal potential but something was missing.
I love both MC. Jac and Matt where almost perfect (almost, cause Matts behavior at the end was a little dissapointing - I guess I need more alpha in my aplha ;) ). The romance itself wasn't very hot.. it was somehow natural, soft, sometimes I didn't feel it at all, but in the end they fit together. I prefer more intense romances in my books, but in general it was ok.
And lets not forget about side characters. Luke and Logan.. just yum...
The last part of the book when all of the riddles was slowly resolved was fantastic. The last 30% of the book made almost all my stars.
I will for sure reach for next book in this series.
Believable & likeable main characters, great plot twists, lots of suspense and an endearing love story - what is not to love?? I really enjoyed everything about this book. There are many different POV's which I was not to sure about at first but Ms. Vaughn made it work flawlessly and they helped put the story right where it needed to be. I thought I had this book figured out within the first few chapters - I was definitely surprised when all was revealed. Really happy I stumbled onto this book. I can not wait to read book two!
THE LIST by Velvet Vaughn. Overall, I enjoyed this story. I adored Matt. He was a great dad, and a genuinely good person. The heroine, Jac, was an independent and strong woman yet had a good heart. However, I did find her a bit annoying when she made choices that would go against keeping her safe. There is a sense of danger throughout this tale, and when the climax hit, it was well done. Overall, I liked this tale with just a few blips that irked a bit.
There were a lot of moving parts in this book. It felt like the author was trying so hard to work the plot twist, that the actual plot got lost. It was a bit too much for me. I liked the characters, but they just didn’t grab me enough to make me want to read the entire series.
It's good. Has a twist that I really didn't see coming. Not who I thought at all. You have a revenge serial killer, a stalker a disgruntled friend, and a plain killer.
I love this book. I got it from my bf and didn’t know if i would like it or not since i haven’t read thrillers in a while(switched to romance) but this book just blew my expectations! I love it so much but i have to give it 4* since it’s a little confusing. It’s written from different perspectives but it doesn’t let you know when you switch from a character’s perspective to another’s
This was the first time reading a book by this author. I must say I was extremely impressed! What a great story and very well written book! Loved the depth and layers of this mystery romance! 5 Stars!!
