Another fun Peel book. We've met Cheyenne in the other Merryton books, so it was fun for her to have her own book and get a better look into what makes her tick. You don't want to get on Cheyenne's bad side, but you're very luck if you're part of her inner circle. She is fiercly loyal and will do anything for her friends. She had a rough childhood and has built up some pretty thick walls to keep people out. She is unexpectedly drawn to Aiden, but wants nothing to do with him. Aiden was a likable character, he tries to avoid his attraction to Cheyenne, but once he realizes that isn't possible he'll stop at nothing to win her over. I thought they had good chemitry and it was fun watching them try and figure things out.
Overall, a nice escape and fun addition to the Merryton series.

Over the years, Cheyenne has built a wall around her heart thanks to her father who had crushed her when she was just a young girl. She doesn't need a man in her life to love her or make her feel complete, she does a great job of that on her own. She has seen the lives her friends live and for a second thought that maybe she was missing out on something good. But then her ex-boyfriend, Paxton, showed her that she was wrong. She should have just stuck with her belief... you can never trust a man and you definitely do not need one in your life.
While travelling home one night, Cheyenne is involved in a freak automobile accident that nearly killed her. She would have died if it wasn't for the mysterious Aidan Bates appearing out of nowhere to save her. A near death experience would have anyone changing their ways and latching on to family and friends for help. But not Cheyenne. She is determined to do this alone and get her old self back. Because there is one thing that Cheyenne Fairchild will not do and that is to appear weak. She tries to put on a brave face for everyone around her but that accident did more to her than she is willing to admit.
Aidan came to Merryton to get his life back on track. After getting out of a marriage he had no business being in, he needs to stay away from all women. Enter Cheyenne. One look and he is instantly drawn to her. However, he knows her kind and knows it's best to stay far away from her. But seeing her go over the cliff changed something in him. He wasn't willing to admit it at first but, the more time passes, the more he sees that he was completely wrong about her. All this time he has been fighting his feelings for her but enough is enough. It's time to man up and go after the woman that he has been falling in love with.
Cheyenne refuses to let another man get close enough to hurt her again. She does her best to stay strong and not let Aidan past the walls that she has built. But the more he's around, the weaker her walls become. A piece of advice? Never underestimate a man in love. Especially one who helps her to see that she is not the person she wants everyone to think she is. There is more to her than anyone has ever taken the time to delve into and get to know. No one has ever made her feel the way that Aidan does. No one sees her the way Aidan sees her and it scares the living daylights out of her. This is all new territory and she doesn't know how to maneuver through it. Her head is screaming at her to get back to being the old Cheyenne. But her heart is softly whispering that she is better than that. She is an amazing and beautiful person. She is worth it. She does deserve to have the love of a good man in her life. And she most definitely deserves one big happily ever after!
Oh how I loved Cheyenne! The feels were definitely real my friends! I laughed, I cried, I growled in frustration, yelled at my kindle in anger, you name it and I more than likely felt it! The struggles were definitely real... both physically and emotionally. I loved watching Cheyenne grow and come to terms with who she really was.. not the person her father turned her into. She did a lot of self preservation but I thought Aidan was definitely key in her self-discovery.
And speaking of Aidan... *dreamy sigh* That. Man. Is. A. Saint! I loved how he knew what he wanted and refused to give up. He saw Cheyenne better than anyone else did. He saw the real her even before she did. I'm not going to lie... she could be a pain in the rear at times. But Aidan was extremely patient with her and loved her no matter what. He had all the time in the world and was willing to wait until she admitted to herself that she, too, was in love and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.
Ms. Peel always amazes me with each book she releases! She is a natural when it comes to writing! I always know that I will be sucked in and will absolutely love each book she creates! I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for her next book baby to be released! <3

Oh, Jennifer Peel. You are amazing. How do you take a character that by all outward appearances is selfish, vain, antagonistic, aggressive and a tad mean and make me love her? How do you do that?!
We get a glimpse of Cheyenne in the previous books in this series and honestly, the view we see isn't always very flattering. It's obvious from those books that there is more to Cheyenne that meets the eye because after all, she IS friends with those awesome women of Merryton but she is just so intimidating!
Cheyenne isn't for the faint of heart. I wondered about Aidan in the beginning and if he really would be able to break through the mass of difficulty and complexity that is Cheyenne. But that Aidan. He really surprised me. He grew a spine of steel and man, when he made up his mind? All in. Relentless. Positively sexy. And Cheyenne thought so too. Ha. Aidan is incredible. In the book, Aidan always asks, "Do you like me?" I told him yes every time. Cheyenne? No. She didn't. But I did. Every. Single. Time.
I ran through a whole myriad of emotions in this book. At times I was embarrassed for Cheyenne and her behavior, at times I was frustrated and I just wanted to thump her. But then there were moments where I wanted to pick up those broken pieces and help her put them back together. I wanted to be her friend. You could do worse than having someone like Cheyenne in your corner. Especially if you take the time to really know her. I loved the internal battle that raged within Cheyenne and the journey to trusting and loving. It was very satisfying.
This book was a good reminder to me to not judge people but give them the benefit of the doubt and to take the time and put in the effort to look beneath the surface to see the real person underneath because some people are really good at hiding beneath those facades.
I loved this addition to the Women of Merryton series. Cheyenne is a complex and difficult character and I am constantly amazed at how Jennifer Peel can create such a variety of characters and make me love them all. She is fantastically gifted at writing and I love her for writing books for me. :)

This story isn't fluffy--it's more real and raw and just what I was looking for. I love that Peel writes in first person. I feel like a dear friend of the character and their personalities always shine through the words on the pages and this is especially true with Cheyenne. She's gorgeous, successful, and rich, but she tells it like it is. She's the kind of woman who completely intimidates me, yet I found myself softening towards her pretty quickly and adoring the woman she's fighting so hard not to be. She's got a very rough and blunt cover for a tender and sweet heart.
Cheyenne has lived a very worldly life and it shows in her attitude towards everything, but especially towards men. I thought Peel did a fantastic job in painting the true character of Cheyenne without making her seem like a tramp. She's got a past, just like the other women in Merryton, but she doesn't care what anyone thinks and her fierce loyalty and the lengths she goes to in order to protect her friends, who are more like family than anything, is extremely endearing.
It's no secret that I love a good romance and this is an opposites-attract kind of thing, almost a self-imposed forbidden relationship. However, a great lesson can be pulled from within--stop judging. It's impossible to know what people are really like if you judge, as both Cheyenne and Aidan learned. He is a fantastic male lead, as he tries to fight off what he wants and then jumps full in, not letting anything hold him back. His persistent and pure love and adoration made me swoon. Their undeniable and flammable chemistry is hot, hot, hot. After a few brooding moments, this guy proves to be a keeper!
I love a book that is well-written and full of emotional growth and turmoil and this one definitely falls into these categories. I didn't just read this story...I lived it...and loved it!

Hilarious!
Cheyenne was a hoot! She was different from Jennifer Peel's other protagonists. She isn't the church going type. She swears, but not in front of the little ones, she has non-committal relationships, and she doesn't care what anyone thinks of her. Normally, I would have trouble relating to her, but she is also fiercely loyal to her friends. Her relationship issues stem from her father teaching her that all men cheat. She goes through life having fun, and never letting a man break her heart, because she's never given it in the first place.
Everything changes with a car accident, and Aidan Bates, the preacher's brother. The near death experience makes Cheyenne re-evaluate her life, and Aidan just won't stay out of her head! Aidan is not Cheyenne's type. He's a churchgoer! He wants a committed relationship, and Cheyenne wants no strings. Despite her intentions, she can't forget Aidan, and he won't let her.
I loved Aidan's persistence, once he figured out what he wanted. He wasn't about to let Cheyenne get away. Cheyenne has some pretty funny ways of trying to scare him off!
Cheyenne just cracked me up. She was confident: from showing off her body, because she works hard to keep it that way, to calling things as they are. I loved seeing what she would do next. She was fiercely loyal to her friends, and I loved seeing her small circle open up to include Aidan too.
I am glad that Cheyenne got her own story! I laughed at her antics in Jessie Belle, found her immature in Taylor Lynn, and came to understand and love her in Cheyenne. I love the realistic and flawed characters that Jennifer Peel creates. I can't wait to see what will happen in Merryton next.

Kudos to Jennifer for another great book. Somehow she managed to make a character I disliked in previous books into someone I cared about and wanted to find happiness.

I've been so excited to read Cheyenne's story and see what her point of view would be like! We get to know her in the previous books of the Women of Merryton series, and she is quite a character. Beautiful, blunt, trash-talking, checker-out of baseball players' butts, and loyal friend. She's not close to many, doesn't care what anyone thinks of her, and dates for her own pleasure- but two weeks is her max. I think her friend described her well- she gets away with what normally only men can.
In this book we get to learn about Cheyenne's past and how the reasons for her parents' divorce in her childhood influence her attitude about men, relationships, and marriage. It was funny and also sad to see how she viewed her friends Abby, Jessie, Taylor, and Rachel, and her judgements about their lives and choices. They are a big part of her life and she has unconditional love for them, would do anything for them... within reason, of course- changing diapers is not going to happen ;)
She and Aidan have amazing chemistry, but both fight it and each other. They challenge each other (in serious ways and *hilarious* ways) and reluctantly form a kind of friendship that has nowhere to go but committed relationship- which scares her more than anything. Cheyenne struggles with new vulnerabilities, health challenges, and accepting help (and more) from Aidan. It was fascinating to see how she changes from one extreme to get to the point where she can accept and trust the love Aidan is offering her.

They challenge each other (in serious ways and *hilarious* ways) and reluctantly form a kind of friendship that has nowhere to go but committed relationship- which scares her more than anything. Cheyenne struggles with new vulnerabilities, health challenges, and accepting help (and more) from Aidan. It was fascinating to see how she changes from one extreme to get to the point where she can accept and trust the love Aidan is offering her.

I liked this book, but did not love it. This offering is well within the standards of the Clean Romance Genre. However, the heroine, Cheyenne, did not initially come across as a positive role model because her moral standards were not the best, not unlike many in our current society who have yet to find the benefits of moral, upright behavior. A seemingly constant and condescending bias against “churchy” people was a bit disappointing, yet it fit very well in the evolution of the story. As the story unfolded I had great sympathy for the many hurdles and biases Cheyenne had to overcome as she slowly progressed toward her HEA. Cheyenne is a very strong and independent protagonist who was equally matched with Aiden, her male counterpart. This was a well written yarn that does credit to the author’s body of work. I have now read 14 books by this author and have awarded 5 stars 7 times, 4 stars 6 times, and 3 stars only once. You can’t go wrong reading a Jennifer Peel book.

I have been waiting for Cheyenne's story for a long time so I couldn't wait to read it! And it did not disappoint!
I fell in love with Cheyenne in the first book (even though she wasn't supposed to be very likeable). I have had friends like Cheyenne and I couldn't wait to know what her story was and what kind of guy could break down her walls. Cheyenne refuses to be vulnerable - even after almost dying in a freak car accident. But she is vulnerable even if she won't admit it to herself and that opens up another side of Cheyenne that we haven't seen in the previous books.
I've always wondered what kind of guy would be able to handle her, and Aidan was the perfect guy for the job! He didn't beg (which Cheyenne never would have tolerated), but instead he kept changing things up and taking charge and never really let Cheyenne get the upper hand.
Veronica (the ex-mayor's wife) finally gets what she has deserved all along which was a fun bonus!

I can't say this was my favorite Jennifer Peel novel. Overall the story was interesting, but I had a hard time liking Cheyenne. Peel did a good job of fleshing out her history, but I guess I wanted Cheyenne to reach a slightly higher level of enlightenment by the end of the book. Aidan should probably be given a medal or something for seeing the relationship through to the end. Perhaps that's why this one didn't really speak to me; I think a little more equal give and take in this relationship was in order.

A Fantastic Story!
Another Fantastic Story in The Women of Merryton series!!
After reading the other stories in this series I have been anticipating reading Cheyenne's. She is so different from the other women -she is bold, confidant, and doesn't take crap from anybody. I absolutely loved her! Reading her story from this first person perspective really gave me insight into how she thinks. Since she was hurt long ago, she has decided no one (especially a man) will love her more than herself, and therefore will never give a man the power to hurt her. Enter Aiden, a man who sees past her incredible beauty and is determined to treat her better than anyone until she gives him her heart.
Goodness there were so many swoon-worthy moments in this story!! I loved Cheyenne and Aiden. I love how much Cheyenne stays true to herself. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and will do anything to help them. Her story was raw and real, and watching through her eyes how much Aiden does in order to be with her was wonderful. Cheyenne is a spitfire, and although very different from her, Aiden accepts and loves her for who she is.
Such an incredible story!! Jennifer Peel deliveries yet another fantastic clean romance!

Another great story from a very talented author. Ms.Peel did a fabulous job of creating a character in Cheyenne that is both strong yet scared and vulnerable. The very hard shell she has wrapped herself in is written to perfection... I wish we could have seen her grow and soften more as the story progressed, however. Her character doesn’t change at all until well over 80% of the way through. And then, it is by such a small amount that I felt sorry for poor Aiden.
Aiden’s character, on the other hand, was very well written and developed. He became the kind of hero woman dream of! Although he started out as somewhat of a jerk, his character grew and changed - becoming strong yet understanding and able to look through Cheyenne’s very tough exterior to recognize the beautiful person underneath. If her character had developed more throughout the story, this would have been a definite 5 star read.

I loved this book! Cheyenne trusts no one with her heart and has decided she is done with men. She has been hurt one too many times, starting with her Father. She doesn't know what to think about Aiden and is bound and determined to not let him into her life. Cheyenne is not your average lady, she makes it her business to know what is going on with everyone in town, she uses four letter words and comes off as selfish. Underneath all of that she is a great friend in times of difficulty. Jennifer Peel, I can't wait for your next book.

A perfect end (or semi-end) of this series! :) I loved Cheyenne and her little transformation, learning to not be afraid of a commitment. It was a difficult process for her but Aidan was perfect for her. And I really liked his persistence and kindness. Loved them both!
I really hope to see soon the promised Daughters of Merryton series and hopefully read more about Maddie, Connor, Ash, Avery, Drew and so on...

So not just a fluffy romance
One of the things I like best about this author is the way she writes real people, with real issues. It always seems fresh and not over-done. Her books are unlike anything else I've read. Of course you can usually count on the happily ever after, but she gets you there in creative ways.
I really wasn't sure I'd like a book about Cheyenne - but I know and love this author, and enjoyed the other Merryton books, so I knew I wouldn't regret reading another. While Cheyenne has a past, and she is not ashamed of it, the author kept with her typical style and made the book about characterization, not about just the physical side of the relationship. That aspect is there, but just like in real life, it isn't the main goal, or even the ,it's important thing.
There is kissing in the book, and other things alluded to, but nothing I'd blush at after recommending the book to a friend.
All I can say is, reader beware. If you've never read any of her other books, if you're anything like me, once you start you can't stop.
This book is part of a series. The other people featured in the previous books do take a pretty large role in this book, so the series is probably best read in order, but not absolutely necessary.

This was incredible. I love when an author can take a crude semi-unlikable character from another book and make you love them in a new book. This is the case with Cheyenne. She is the crude, obnoxious man-izer side character from the books about her friends—Jessie Belle and Taylor Ann. She provides laughter, but it was hard to imagine her ever falling in love. It just doesn’t seem to be in her wiring. In this book, we get a peek behind the curtains to see who Cheyenne really is—why she is the way she is, and how she is determined to protect her heart from ever being hurt again. This is probably now at the top of my list for favorites in this series about women in Merryton. Cheyenne is awesome, and still funny and crazy and wild…but you will come away loving her. And Aiden…the only man stronger than her and able to put up with her craziness…he’s even more incredible. Sizzling hot and swoonworthy book boyfriend material for sure. I highly recommend this one, and the series. These ladies are so fun to read about, and I love the side plot with Abby and her husband in this one. Abby’s always been the sweet friend in the background, so I’m glad she got to shine a little more in this book.

Having met Cheyenne in the previous Women of Merryton books, I couldn't wait to get her story, especially because she's so different from Jessie, Taylor, and Rachel. Let's say I was not disappointed in her story. Cheyenne's experiences taught her that she needed to guard herself, especially her heart, if she didn't want to be hurt. This is why she only dates men for short periods of time and doesn't want to show weakness of any kind, even around friends she would do anything for.
Part of Cheyenne's story broke my heart but another part of me wanted to slap some sense into her when she kept pulling the "I can do it on my own" stuff. It's great to be independent but everyone at one time or another needs help from others and there's no shame in that. Inside I was screaming "Let them help you!"
The chemistry between Cheyenne and Aidan is palpable. These two wanted to stay away from each other but couldn't. Aidan saw the real Cheyenne and that scared her. These two put me through an emotional wringer while they worked things out but I'm happy Cheyenne got to tell her story.

Cheyenne is broken, almost beyond repair. She has so many issues that her issues have issues. She exhausts herself pushing everything and everyone away. “Relationships are beautiful and messy. I have loved the other books in this series The Women of Merryton, I love this author and wasn't quite sure, how she would be able to tell Cheyenne’s story. Cheyenne is not the most lovable character, until you understand where she is coming from, and who she is protecting. Cheyenne at an earlier age got hurt and that hurt led to her not trusting those around her. This book is incredibly written, I love the way the author kept the real Cheyenne, she didn’t sugar coat her of put rose tinted glasses on the reader, but she kept the story real, she kept Cheyenne believable and did an amazing job writing a story that kept me turning page after page to see where Cheyenne would end.

While I did enjoy this book, I would not say it was my favorite of this author. I very much liked Aidan. He admitted his faults and owned up to them. He was very clever and patient which was what Cheyenne needed. I loved that Cheyenne was so protective of her friends. I had a hard time with her calling mothers breeders. I have 5 children and work with kids as my job. I spend my life working with kids and love it and find some of Cheyenne's remarks about mother's and their children offensive therefore some of Cheyenne's character was a bit harsh for my liking. All in all I still very much enjoyed the book.

This series just kept getting worse. While I didn’t have any particularly bad feelings towards the main characters and didn’t mind the general plots, I felt like the women were all kinda shallow. I really could have done without all the references to calories and “sinful” treats and needing to exercise. Also didn’t need Landon and Veronica; I don’t feel like that added anything to the story but more shallowness from the main characters. I might try more books from this author because there is a definite place in this world for fluffy romance books. But this series was a bit of a miss for me. 🤷🏻♀️

Here is another book by Jennifer Peel that I enjoyed. The start was a little slow but once I got into the book I couldn't put it down. There was one editor error that threw me towards the end. But I kept going. Cheyenne had no problem using men like they used women. She had a love and leave them attitude. That is until her accident and Aiden. He was different. I enjoyed the sparring that went on between them. The sparks lept off the pages when they were together. Can't wait for more women of Merryton.

I had a harder time with Cheyenne then I did with all of the other ladies in this series. I still loved the book, but she was the hardest for me to like. She forced the bad girl persona (and I get it, it goes into background a bit, which I understand) but I also think she came the furthest. She progressed the most. I love that all these ladies have things to overcome and changes that need to be made, not just attitudes but situations. This series is great! Sad it is over (right, or am I missing something? Maybe an Abby book??) but now I can re read them!

Unlike the first three books in the series i did not find Cheyenne likeable. She was a little mouthy in the first three books but in this one she was abrasive and crass from beginning to end. I hate to think that such a nice guy ended up stuck with such a selfish, self-centered woman. I REALLY did not appreciate her referring to her friends as "breeders" over and over. That word is revolting and disgusting. Who would be friends with a classless woman like that? I only finished the book to get updates on the other characters.

I’ve always loved Cheyenne I was happy to see her get her own book. We all knew she was going to be a difficult one haha. Aidan is the perfect balance for her personality. We all need someone that can tame us down and help us become a better person. It’s been a while since Ive read the other books in this series so it was nice to get an update on the characters from the other books. I’m excited about the spin off as well! Another amazing book by this Author!

I tried to like this book.
I always look forward to new books by Jennifer Peel. This is the first book i have really disliked. I didn't care for the main characters, and I really didn't care for the heavy religious theme. I couldn't finish it.

I'm not that fond of The Women of Merryton series, I much prefer Jennifer Peel's other books, and I especially have never liked the character of Cheyenne. I still enjoy the storytelling, though, so I'm glad I read it.
