Samuel Turner had no intentions of letting his heart get captured by anyone. He was happy in his life and wanted no change. However, after getting hurt while saving a group of pioneers from a band of bandits, his heart simply can’t resist the pull of the woman who mended a lot more than just his wounds. Elizabeth was running away from a future that she did not want or ask for. Knowing that relationships never last for people on the run, she kept people at bay and protected her heart at all costs. But when she’s entrusted the health of a handsome stranger, her resolve dwindles. Will love be enough to keep them together or will Elizabeth’s secrets and her past be too much for them to overcome?
A Beautiful Medical Student and the Wicked Stepmother
Elizabeth was a medical student in the East. Before she completed the last term and received her degree in medicine, she learned that her father had debts and the only way to settle them had been to sell Elizabeth as a bride to a man who was a friend of the stepmother. Her father died without disclosing this to Elizabeth and when the stepmother ordered to quit school and marry the old man, she left for the West just before completing her final term in medical school. She joined a wagon train--they allowed her to travel because she had the skill to treat illnesses and injuries. She met a rancher who had been shot by outlaws and took her to his home to help take of his mother. Will they all become a family? Read and find out.
Before I leave, I must tell you I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I plan to enjoy the included short stories also.
Stories are not bad, but trying to read them was absolutely excruciating due to innumerable errors. I do not know when I have tried to read a book with so many errors- it needs both proofreading and editing. It is not just typos, it is grammar and content, and misuse of words; sometimes several errors per page. Everyone makes errors, and I can ignore a few if scattered through a good book, but this was far beyond a few scattered simple errors.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a pleasant read and the story kept you interested. I was always wondering what would happen next. I liked it and I think you will.
