Kemara wants nothing more than a quiet, simple life. In her experience, relationships are anything but simple. However, when she meets Channing, her convenience store hero, she can’t help but long for a life that’s a bit more…complicated.
From the moment Channing lays eyes on Kemara, he knows he has to have her, no matter what it takes. Given his affiliations with a white supremacy group, getting with a black woman is going to take quite a lot. But what could he say? She’s the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, and the heart has no biases.
This girl loves a good book--especially books that suck you into the pages and take you to new worlds, providing a much needed break from the everyday hustle. I'm obsessed with happily ever after and feel good romances that serve up a strong dose of reality.

"Dangerous Bonds" by Shani Greene-Dowdell
My Thoughts.....
This was quite a interesting read that this author presents as we are presented with Channing and Kemara that dealt with 'race and love.' Being presented with racism and the way it was showed in this read was really something as we see how these two will work it all out. How will Kemara be able to take this all in after she finds out about Channing's background? I liked would this character was able to know just what was right and wrong. This story really shows that even though one may be born to a racist family there can be a change if it is desired. Will these two be able to 'look deep within themselves and find love?' This story really shows that even in our world today 'hate and bigotry' still can be found. In the end will love trump hate? Well, to find out about this story you will have to pick up this very good read of 'Dangerous Bonds' to see how well this author gives the reader a very well written story of just what happened in such a situation as it was was Channing and Kemara.
First reading by this Author.I loved the way she took us on a journey letting us get to know the characters as they became acquainted with each other. The storyline was good and I loved the two main characters. The only thing I can complaint about is the story was too short. 3.5 stars
This is not my first book by this author. I had this book for a while but did not get around to reading it. The theme, one which is becoming more common place these days, a man who is attracted to a woman, which from the way he was brought up teaches him he not have these feelings for. This is Channing and Kemara story. I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading her hothead of a sister's story.
Truly an awesome book. I first I was kinda upset with channing, but he won me over with his defense of Kemara. I wished Channing got the chance to BEAT the stuffing out of his Racist ass dad and brother. Love how Shani Greene-Dowdell told the story about love overcomes everything, even racism
This was truly a lot better than I was expecting!!!! The hero was so sweet and the characters were so connected! It’s nice to see good feelings/morals prevail. Totally recommend reading this!!! Another plus for me is that even though it had race issues at the center of the novel, it wasn’t nearly as heavy as most of these novels are which I enjoyed.
I loved and enjoyed reading Channing and Kemara's story. This was a good read which I would absolutely recommend to anyone. Great job Ms. Greene-Dowdell and thank you.👍🙏
A great read. Kemara’s love opened Channing’s eyes and melted the hate hate and bigotry away. She became the catalyst that forced him to change his lifestyle.
I love how the author described the development of their love for each other (no insta-love). I was able to feel the growth of their devotion and commitment.
This book started off so great it’s like....it’s almost like two different people wrote this book. The first couple of chapters were really good, it reeled you in....but then after that it’s like someone else picked it up and just completely demolished the book in my opinion. It’s a juvenile took over the rest of the book.....I just couldn’t complete the book without some serious eyerollls.....just terrible....oh my gosh.... I’m just....I’m not a quitter.
We cannot always understand the whys of the decisions people make to get to the point of toxic hate, we just sometimes get to see the results when that hate implodes. It then destroys most things in its way, those to whom it is directed as well as the hater! Channing was part of a family that had White Supremacy views and practices. He falls for a Black woman, Kemara, and the drama begins! Interesting reading the spin on the drama that results when the father and brother of Channing decide to keep him from Kemara!
The Neo-Nazi and African-American, so you know things are going to come to a head then boil over. And oh they do. I loved how they met, hilarious. Luckily for Kemara, Channing's family is more hardcore racists than he is or she'd have been up a creek with a paddle from the start.
This book was excellent. The subject matter as to what it was centered around isn’t heavily spoken about today, but needs to be talked about more. The way in which the author presented the storyline, the characters and the development was impeccable. There were minor editing issues but none that affected my ability to follow the story. I recommend this read.
This was such a really good story,I love when you get to see a couple actually go through the pains of dating and falling in love. The,writer gives us a good way to spend time and enjoy doing just that. But now I also thought that the ending was a tad bit rushed ,but it was still good.
This couple went through so much to be together. I was on the edge of my seat when the action happened. I especially loved Channing's persistence. It's a beautiful love story.
The story between Kemara and Channing was okay. Both of them felled for someone outside their race. However, Channing really had his past and family to contend with in order to live his life with Kemara.
This story is about Kemara and Channing. They meet in a rinky dink corner store. Kemara needed an iPhone charger and Channing helped her get one. He didn’t get her name but he followed her to a restaurant because she was going to meet her friend there. So Channing realizes they didn’t get each other’s names so he goes to the restaurant where he saw her meet her friend, almost daily, just in case they meet up there again. Well, a few weeks go by and Kemara meets up with her friend at the restaurant. They exchange names and Channing gets her number. Well, you know the rest from there. The fall in love and Channing’s father and brother hates her because she’s black.
What I did like about the story is the relationship build up between the two. Both knew what they wanted from each other and they’d rather take their time than mess it up.
What I didn’t like about the story was that Channing’s father and brother were Neo-Nazi’s. Channing was a member, however, he didn’t share the same feelings. He never verbally denounced the group until he met Kemara. Also, if the author is going to use this as a plot, there should be suspense, angst and every other emotion that she could use to make me bite my nails to get to the next page. I felt she could have done without the racist family member plot.
I’ve read a few books by this author and, well, I don’t know. I love edge, suspense and angst. Especially if I’m going to read about an interracial couple and a hate group that is after them and trying to break them up. I don’t seem to get that when I’m reading her books.
This is my first time reading a book by this author. It was an interesting storyline on racism. Channing who is white and Kemara who is black meet and fall in love. There is a lot of resistance to them being in a relationship by family and other people. Will their love survive or will they have to part because of racist people? I enjoyed this book which I felt many emotions of happiness, shock, anger, funny and sad. I look forward to reading more of this author's book's. Cassandra H
This book was a little different from your usual BWWM. The hate and racism that was in this book is reflective of society today. I'm glad that it wasn't glossed over but everything in the book revolved around it. I wish that there was more and fire between Channing and Kemara. I kept hoping for more throughout the book.😔 The ending seemed a bit rushed and more of a summary. Overall I enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend reading it. Great characters , good storyline, and a nice editing job.
2.5 stars. The premise was interesting, and the main characters, especially Channing and his family background with growing up white supremacy views, but I found it a bit troublesome that took so long time for him to get away from all that hate. I like that the heroine was strong and independent, and didn't let her family, especially her somewhat annoying sister, decide for her when it comes to her feelings for Channing. I had some problem with writing though, especially in the beginning - there were so many "I" - "I did this and I did that". The book cover is pretty nice.
Dangerous bonds is a really great read, Kemara and Channing had to overcome so much to get to their happily ever after,.. Their love
for each other was pure and true and together they get through all the hurdles and come on the other side even stronger. I love them and their story. Channing's mother is remarkable... And Kemara's family are wonderful as well. Great read indeed!!
Love everything about this book...characters, the storyline, the flow. Kemara and Channing omg! Their chemistry was explosive and they were destined to be together. This couple right here, fought for their love, life and future. They went through hell but they held on to each other. This author always get it, just right. I love the way she tells a story. Safe Place is next😊. Great job!
I always get ambivalent when I start a new bwwm cuz some are just so bad this story was great good romance, nice characters without a lot of the typical cliched baggage (grew up in foster Care, no one ever loved me, ex-Bf was abusive yada yada ) everyone was gainfully employed, no billionaires with safe words, even the racial stuff wasn’t very stereotypical. it was a lovely emotional roller coaster ride. There was laughs and emotions and sexy times a great book
