In Love: Cultivating Qualities for a Love that Lasts a Lifetime

Rate this book
Marriages—Christian marriages—are breaking up at alarming rates. Today, rather than celebrating twenty-five or fifty years as milestone anniversaries, we are now honoring those who have survived for five or ten years. Anniversaries have become a recognition of survival, rather than a celebration of lifetime love. These pages offer hope and encouragement to every Christian marriage. From conflict resolution to practical ways to show love to one another, this book is instructing and encouraging, biblical and helpful. Read it, apply it, and be more in love with your spouse than ever before.

The Conclusion is Worth the Price of the Book

While much of what the author has to say in marriage is practical, it is the last section of the book that I found to be the most helpful. The first several chapters especially are lists of actions to take or avoid to benefit a marriage, and while they are biblically based, they seem more fit for an online article (or two) than a book. It was not until the conclusion of the book where patterns of failure from the book of Malachi were revealed that I felt that the author provided something novel and valuable. While the author has not my favorite writing style or presentation of thought development, the book was certainly helpful for any marriage, but especially for husbands. I would not, however, recommend this book as a good devotional guide for couples - rather, as a book to be read by those about to be married.
