Becky Arrington isn’t a daydreaming country girl just waiting for a handsome cowboy to come rescue her. She’s a strong, determined woman who can run a ranch as well as any man. To prove it, she needs a ranch all her own, and she has the perfect place in mind. But when her ideal ranch is sold to a mule-headed lawyer, Becky sees her dreams crumbling and she’ll be forced to do some major kissing-up to get Mason Granger to sell. Unfortunately, kissing Mason can addle a woman’s brain and make her lose track of what she really wants. A ranch. Or love. And who says she can’t have both? Divorce attorney Mason Granger learns early on that marriage is the fastest way to hell. Growing up with a mother who exchanged husbands like shoes, he has more than a few hang ups about women and spends his days punishing them in the courtroom . . . and his nights punishing them in the bedroom. But when a sassy spitfire sets her sights on the ranch he just purchased, he’s suddenly the one being punished. He can’t go anywhere without Becky Arrington showing up to annoy the hell out of him . . . and tempt him beyond his limits. And when he finally gives into temptation, he’ll discover that beneath the feisty, controlling cowgirl is a loyal, loving woman who will heal his soul and lasso his heart forever.

I read this book as part of When Things Got Hot in Texas book. And it was a fantastic read.
Getting to know more about Becky was like getting to know a friend you have known for awhile but you just knew the first layers of the person. Becky has been one of my fav characters in this series. She is feisty and knows what she wants in life and she wants a piece of land and a house, except it's bought from under her by none other than Mason Granger, who is friend of the family and a she must do some quick thinking to get this house and land from him.
It was fun going through the interactions with Becky and Mason. Becky being all up in his business, but knowing she had a secret that is going to blow Mason's mind and what happens as they get to Mason to change his mind about the ranch and Love. And of course we find out more about the Tender Heart books and the mysteries author....
I really enjoyed getting to know Mason and Becky and their crazy bantering! I had a smile on through most of this story. And when these two finally got together sparks flew! This story was fun and sexy with a touch of suspense. A great addition to the Tender Heart series!
Mason Granger doesn't know exactly how long he's gonna stay in Bliss, Texas. But if it was up to Becky Arrington, he would already be gone ;p The newcomer may hold the deed to the house and land , but for the young woman who dreamed to make it into a home when she'll get the money when she turn twenty-five next year, it's her house. So a girl got to do what she's got to do to get rid of the competiton and with her cousin Gracie, who's like a sister to her, she'll try to make him go away. But her plan to disrupt his life will take a different direction than they both expected. As a divorce lawyer, Mason doesn't believe in happily ever after and certainly never thought he would find it with strong-willed hellcat Becky after a little bit of bickering and flirting at the same time.
I've waited for Becky's story since the first time we met her but I'm sad to say the novella didn't live up to my expectation. Could be because of the incursion into the light BDSM because I'm really not a fan (and Mason didn't felt credible to me as a dominant) and I know how this author can write better sex scenes than that (this one felt so unromantic to me) but maybe also because everything happened too fast suddenly to really believe in the love story. Having said that, the first two books in the series was so great so you should not let this one stop you from reading the series.
Now that I've read the entire Tender Heart Texas series I will say that this was my least favorite book. When I'd met Rebecca Arrington the female protagonist in this book I sort of liked the head strong, independent, impetuous character. Although I did think the scene in Head Over Boots where she hogties and gags her future sister-in-law Carly was more than a tad over the top. In this book her character did nothing to endear herself to me. I never managed to like the male protagonist Mason, a divorce lawyer with mommy issues, and I didn't sense any real chemistry between the two. And then there's the sex. Seems like every romance author has to have her Fifty Shades moment and this book was it for Katie Lane. She even references the Fifty Shades series in the story. I get different strokes for different folks but I don't get the whole dom/submissive thing, I really don't get how people enjoy rough sex that involves inflicting or receiving pain during sex, and it was hard for me to reconcile that with Becky's personality she was interested in being a sexual submissive or that she got into the thing so quickly when she was a virgin before her first time with Mason. Even though in total I loved this series, this book just left me feeling meh!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
My one complaint about this novella was it was too short! I would have loved to spend more time with Becky and Mason, they had such sizzling chemistry! We already knew from the previous Tender Heart novel that sparks had been flying but man, did they ever let loose.
Becky's been one of the best characters so far in the series so I was so happy to see her book. She's two-parts sassy and all heart but I loved seeing her get challenged by Mason. The best part was seeing how their relationship unfolded from adversaries to friends/lovers. And man was that hot! My hands would have been on fire if the pages could burn as much as their relationship did!!
Tender Heart is filled with great people and I can't wait to go back for the next love story!
Becky and Mason will leave their cowboy boot prints all over your heart. Highly recommended!!! The story of Tender Heart continues with Becky and Mason in the third book entitled "Falling For a Texas Hellion." Becky never felt like her voice and opinions mattered in running the ranch with her family of overbearing men and Mason struggles with the loss of his mother and the unhappiness she lived with throughout her life. Come back to Bliss, Texas, your favorite quirky characters and their endearing interference as they help Mason to see that the Tender Heart he was looking for was right in front of him the whole time. This book was originally released as part of the "When Things Got Hot in Texas" anthology.
Divorce lawyer, Mason Granger has moved to Bliss, TX for peace and quiet. Instead he finds feisty rancher Becky Arrington who wants the ranch he just bought for her own. This book is hard to put down, Becky & Mason are a pair that challenge each other and don't back down. Throw in a stray cat that wins Mason over, and a stalker ex of Becky's who lingers just a little too close for comfort and you have a fast paced, sexy love story. Also this story provides more clues in the mystery of the lost final book of the beloved Tender Heart series, just keeps you guessing, and ready for the next book!
Nice story but not a great lot of substance to it. I liked Mason and Becky but this felt like a short story. Even when Rich did the surprise at Beckys birthday it was over with pretty much straight away.
Oh well. I am looking forward to finding out where Dirk fits into the Tender Hearts family as I feel he will be a surprise to this series.
I have fell in love with this series. Zane's wild baby sister meets his friend who seems like uptight city boy . After butting heads several times they find that they have fell in love and decide to start their ranch together. Can't wait to read Gracie's story.
This one disappointed me in that it was far too short. Felt thrown together for shock and without the tender heart details of the previous stories. Becky deserved better thought.
Let me say that I am absolutely hooked on this series and have been on a reading binge and can't seem to stop, I highly recommend reading this series, you won't be disappointed
I loved this book! Katie Lane's Tender Heart Texas series is full of fun, laughs, sweet romance and a great mystery. You can never go wrong with a Katie Lane Book.
A feisty woman who knows what she wants and an out of town lawyer who is scarred. Will Becky and Mason be able to get past the problems. Where did furball come from?
The heroine of this story irritated me. Granted this is the first book I've read in this series so maybe I'm missing some important character development, but the first impression we get is a woman who breaks into someone's house because she thinks it's rightfully hers? Oof.
