Cute illustrations, coupled with an important reminder to consider the feelings of others.

Little Leo's best friend is dinosaur Sonny.
"... Sonny sometimes has grumpy moods that can be ugly. He can explode like dino-mite when he can’t have his way. Sometimes he does it several times in the day..."
It's the author's trick to show examples of typical bad behavior without suggesting that children who read this book might engage in the same behavior (at least occasionally).
Throughout the story the grumpy Sunny misbehaves; he tries to climb up the slide on the playground, throws tantrums, does not want to eat dinner.. . and so on. Leo helps Sunny to understand that being less selfish is better for all involved.
Author Michael Gordon delivers a well-done children's book with adorable illustrations. Though neither unusual nor revolutionary this is a traditional book all parents and educators will appreciate.

Excellent!
This is a really nice book for children. My son loved it. This book keeps the reader engaged in the adventure. There's also an inspiring message tucked nicely inside the pages for the reader.

Shame inducing
Felt shameful. Can't force someone to eat something they don't like and playground expiration of any kid is how kids learn. Screw those shaming playground moms.

Leo’s best friend is a dinosaur named Sonny. Leo enjoys Sonny because he is funny but Joe Sonny gets grumpy when he doesn't get what he wants, or when things don't go his way. Leo tries to show his friend, that being angry is not normal. He teaches him to calm down, breathe slowly, eat sensibly, and be patient and less greedy. In the end, Sonny understands that treating others with kindness is the best way to go.
Not only is this an entertaining book for children (and readers) but it also carries fine information about controlling anger and appreciating the strong value of friendships and kindness. A very impressive little book that should be part of every child’s library!

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written children’s dinosaur book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s dinosaur movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Parents at the park don't want him around their kids either.
Sonny acted worse at dinner and Leo has to talk to him after about how to behave and why.
He hurt many feelings of others and Leo has the answer...Some pages look like they'd be good to print and color.

Sonny is a grumpy dinosaur who throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way. He complains about everything. But he has a change of heart after he realizes that nobody wants to be around an ill-mannered grouch.
Grumpy Dinosaur is a good book for initiating discussions about why it's better to be well-mannered and positive than to be sour. The story is simple and easy for children to understand. The colorful pictures compliment the text nicely. Suitable for children ages 3-6.

Fast conflict resolution, but still good.
I loved the artwork and the overall story. There was a good build up of conflict throughout the book, but that conflict was settled too fast. In Gordon's other work, 'Dragon's Breath' for example, the character is given time to digest his problem and come to his own conclusion. That seemed to be lacking in this book, though the moral of the story is still evident.

A cute way to teach kids to be nice.
This was a cute little book. My son noticed right away that the dinosaur was being naughty and wasn't sharing. The artwork in this book is gorgeous. The story was simple, easy for little ones to understand. It is one we would definitely recommend :)

Cute
This is the second book by Michael Gordon that I've enjoyed. Where the last one explored strategies to stop/calm down this one skipped that part and instead explored the way behaviours can impact those around you. Another cute book to help your child explore and deal with their emotions.

LITTLES book club decided we found this book gave us not only a look at what it’s like when we’re feeling “grumpy” but some of the why and how to “move those feelings forward”. If you have a LITTLE that struggles with feeling Grumpy this a book that will help you unpack those feelings without preaching you shouldn’t have these emotions. Great Conversation Starter with the LITTLE in your life.

Michael Gordon has written a book using a dinosaur to represent every child who has ever gone through times when they are grumpy. Parents who read this with their young child can ask the question, "What is Sonny doing wrong?" This opens the floor for gentle conversations about appropriate behavior. In addition to a great story line you have wonderful pictures to round it out.

Great for my soon mad 5 year old
My 5 year old just read this to me, and enjoyed it. Apart from the occasional word I needed to break down for him, he could read this at respectable pace and enjoy it. The concept of the story is good and something children (and adults) can relate to - and hopefully learn from.

This is a good and educative book for kids and parents and nice add to the educators tools and resources too. It talks about anger management, and it depicts a nice approach to the topic and its offers solution too. I wish is on different language too or at least to this topic been presented to kids on this way.

Brilliant
I read this book to my 6year granddaughter. She loved this book. She said it taught her not to be grumpy anywhere and how to help others not to be grumpy too. She loved the rhyming words and pictures. I recommend this book for 3-8 year old children and grandparents as well .

Grumpy Dinosaur by Michael Gordon is a cute rhyming book for children. It has cute and colorful illustrations that small children can easily relate to. Leo shows Sonny, his dinosaur friend, how to play nice with others. Children will want to read this book over and over again!

My kids love this book
My kids love this book about emotions, my son is a short fuse and I love that this story can help guide him to better understand his affect his emotions have on himself and others. The flow is nice as the story teller and the pictures are colorful!
