China Collins' passionate mid life marriage to Sam Eagle, an aboriginal lawyer, seems to be all she'd ever hoped for. Full of hopes and plans for their exciting future, China leaves behind her thriving career as a sculptor and settles into the new life that she and Sam are creating in their Maritime home. But slowly she realizes that Sam isn't quite what he'd seemed. The pieces of the puzzle swirl and shift, but she cannot evade the truth forever - the truth that her beloved husband is a pathological liar. Fragments of China's journals and poems open a window into a world where nothing is what it seems. ADULT THEME
This book was recommended to me by my friend who’s grandmother is the author! The book is based on her life and so the character of Tina is based on my friend, which was super cool! I enjoyed the integration of poetry throughout the storyline, as well as the excerpts of the protagonist’s journals. The ending was really unexpected as well. A very different genre of book than anything else I’ve read.
