Grrr... with all the great reviews for this I was expecting much better book than this. I don't usually write negative reviews but I feel the need to put in my two cents, so if you liked this one please forgive my honest review...
The only reason why I did not DNF this book was because of the hype from the reviews about the shocking ending. There was no originality to the story, just one bad cliche after another. The writing wasn't terrible but I found myself skimming the last half of the book. I felt no love for the characters, there should have been more depth to their story. I actually really like insta-love novels but this one was just unbelievable.
The only reason why I did not DNF this book was because of the hype from the reviews about the shocking ending. There was no originality to the story, just one bad cliche after another. Hours have passed since I finished reading Deceit. I'm still dumbfounded and bowled over. Totally left wanting more, dare I say I was cussing and cursing after turning the last page? Well, when I was kindly offered to review Deceit, I must admit I had not heard of it and went in totally blind. Man... am I glad I did! Just the unexpected gave the story such an incredible bite! And did it bite? YES!
Kace Colt sheared the pages. Leaving me aghast wasn't enough — I wanted more! He's a walking weapon to be reckoned with and trained to kill. I found him so intriguing and so absorbing that I was left spent after reading his story. He lives next door to Lily and he’s drawn to her in inexplicable ways. He’ll do whatever is necessary to protect those who need it. Strong, hot and an alpha male personified, his darkness drew me into his character like a bee to a honey pot. Lily was on my level. Maybe she was the one who could bring light into his life. She definitely noticed her neighbour and I couldn’t help but love her for her intuitiveness. Curious to know more about the mysterious Kace, she doesn't realise this man could also spell danger. Lily’s a surgical vet nurse. I got to see her working with the animals which is her greatest love and I quickly learnt that she has a heart of gold. Lily made me laugh quite a few times, but even though she has a sassy personality, the situation she was going to find herself undoubtedly worried me.

This story includes other characters that are to say, interesting! And as this is a series, I'm hoping to find out much more about them. Deceit has so much going on that I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat shouting out aloud. Yes, I was so engrossed that I forgot that the world existed around me. Action packed with drama, mystery, suspense and steamy hot scenes between Kace and Lily gave me little breathing space between chapters. Let’s touch slightly on the steaminess! What I loved was the build-up. The authors cleverly gave me a slow burn in which the attraction and the potential sexy scenarios inevitably made me gasp for air. The ensuing sparkling result is nothing less than explosive! This is by far the least frustrating part in the story. Learning the back story of the protagonists and the overwhelming feelings between them didn’t exasperate me either. When I finally got to savour the nitty-gritty and sublime. . . you can imagine what I'm talking about, I thought my kindle was going to burn my hands with the scorching heat.
"Okay, so whatever goes down in here, I want you to know I'm doing it to protect you. to protect us."
I won't touch too deeply on the story as potential readers need to know that this book has everything in it. The collaboration of the two authors worked extremely well; they have given the story fluidity and opened up my curiosity to know how they came up with such a damn good plot and overwhelming characters. I'm a huge reading fan and love something different once in a while. This book has most certainly gave me food for thought. Not only have I been unable to stop thinking about the story all day, but the ending drove me crazy with unanswered questions. I can’t repeat what I called Ms Jane and Ms Osborn when I read the closing chapter! I have given Deceit five fierce stars due to the packed content and the effect it had on me. I'm really looking forward to book two and I have all sorts of thoughts as to where I'm hoping it goes.

WHAAAAAAAATTTTT IN GODS NAME JUST HAPPENED (INSERT SEVERAL SHOCKED EMOJIS ???)
I've spent this entire book thinking it was good. It wasn't particularly blowing me away or anything, but the story itself was good. I have to say some of the plotlines and dialogue weren't always entirely believable but I went with it. And by the end I had been completely blown out of the park.
This story centres around Lily & Kace who despite being completely different, it is clear they are perfect for one another. It was clear to me from the start that Kace had a darker side to him and despite Lily seeing that for herself, she was still drawn to him on an unimaginable scale.
There wasn't loads of sex scenes in this book, however in all fairness it didn't need it. The story was gripping enough, even with the slight issues I had.
Now the way this book has ended has kind of got me speechless at the moment. I am completely dumbfounded and unable to express the emotions running through me right now. Its kind of got me thinking I should make a Facebook page titled, Addison Jane & KE Osborn are evil geniuses, but what I will say is that the need for book 2 has reached a critical level. So for anyone who likes to be left with a book hangover of epic proportions then I say read this book.

I liked Lilly as a character, but at first I couldn't see her and Kace together. She was too much of a rule follower and he was a complete and utter mystery. If it wasn't for the incidents I don't think half this story would have happened.
I still feel so bad for Kace. He thought he was doing something good and everything blew up in his face (not literally). I don't understand how two best friends do that to one another at the ending. I was expecting an explosive conversation, but not that ending.
I have a conspiracy theory about the ending (because that's the only way I'll be able to sleep at night while waiting for the next book to release). I think that it was all a ploy and that everything was faked to get the agency off their trail. Everything happened way to quickly and there's no way someone can rig an explosion in the amount of time that the ending took place in.

Kace was a mysterious man, someone that kept to himself and out of everyone's sigh, but when his next door neighbor catches his eye things will change and it might be for the worse. Lily kept to herself by working hard focusing in one thing only to one day own her veterinarian clinic but things will change when her mysterious yet gorgeous neighbor walks into her life.
The level of suspense, mystery, action and loyalty you experienced while reading this first book from what I expect to be the best series by far, will blow you away. Not only will you be biting your lip and/or your nails but will catch yourself holding your breath more than once.
Kace will be your next book boyfriend, and Lily will be your favorite gal. That I will guarantee you. Don't wait too long to read it you don't know what your missing.

I received this for an honest review!!! HELL YES are the words I think I screamed when I found out that Addison and K.E were writing a book together. Two of my favorite authors in one book!!
I think I fell in love in the first chapter... I just LOVED Kace and Lily.. Where Kace is hard Lily is soft and I just loved it!!!! These two make such an unlikely pair and oh so wonderful together!!!
But I have to say I NEED the next book soon!! LIKE NOW what a freaking ending...

Lily is the most aggravating character I've ever engaged with! I can't decide if she's just super naive and gullible or a 12 year old in a woman's body.
I really wanted to like this story but it's too much work.....

Wow...i wasn't expecting that!
I can't really say too much about this book without giving away spoilers as it has quite a few twists and turns. But let me just say, ‘Deceit by Addison Jane and K E Osborn’ was anything but predictable!
From the moment Lily laid eyes on the mysterious man next door with eyes as blue as the sky and a body made for sin she found herself strangely drawn to him. Wanting to find out more about the man, but with her few encounters being as they passed each other in the hall, it was obvious he wanted to remain unknown with the way he would never make eye contact or say hello.
When she spots her neighbour at the zoo arguing with a somewhat suspicious character, she waits, hidden in the background hoping to hear a little of their conversation to find out more.
Lily is also wishfully hoping she will finally get her chance to introduce herself and have a conversation with him, whilst figuring out if her attraction is just that or perhaps something more physical?
Kase spotted Lily eavesdropping straightaway. It’s what he is trained to do but instincts aside, she's beautiful and sexy and he wants her. The last couple of months passing her in the hall he has secretly spied her beauty and memorised her scent. He knows when she’s home, he can feel her energy pulling him to her as he passes by her door. But getting close to her, or anyone, is dangerous. Actually it's more than dangerous it could get them killed. It's why he doesn't stay in the same place for long or fall in love.
Lily doesn't realize that getting involved with her mysterious neighbour could be dangerous, but a passionate kiss leaves them both wanting more. After some crazy events Lily is left wondering “who is Kase Colt?” and searching for answers to her questions. Leaving her wondering if a chance at love is worth the risk?
Kase will do whatever it takes to keep Lily safe and Lily will do whatever it takes to keep Kase with her. When he only sees the darkness can she lead him into the light?
This book is full of shock surprises, ending with a major cliff-hanger. I need the next series NOW!
Although it doesn’t contain loads of sex, when they do they do it with style and a lot of steam…
Downside would be, I wish it progressed a little quicker and was a little clearer in certain areas, but overall a great 4.5 star read with a unique storyline and supporting characters. Get this book on your “to read” list now ☺

Who is Kace Colt? How does Ava know him or does she? Who is Molly and what are her thoughts about Kace? What does Ava do for a living? Where is she going to be going the day after helping Molly with Lily the night before? Who is Max? Where is Max? Who is Beau? After her date with Beau and their visit with Max, what happens that night in the middle of that night that scares Lily? Who or what is Daisy? On Friday night, Molly and Lily decide to go out to the club where Molly used to work. What happens when they get there? Watching Molly dancing with Karl is interesting. Watching Kace's reaction when Phil asks Lily to dance is a hoot! What happens when Lily excuses herself to go to the restroom? When she goes to find Molly, what does Kace do? What does he say that causes Molly to jump into action and pull Lily into a waiting cab? What ends up happening at the club after the ladies leave? When Kace leaves Daisy at her apartment one night, what happens in the middle of the night? When she tells Kace what Daisy is doing, what does he tell her to do? When Kace and Luca show up at her apartment after she listens to Kace about Daisy, who else is there and what happened? When Kace finally gives in and starts giving Lily some information about himself, things really get interesting. You're going to have to read this book and see how things turn out for Kace and Lily if at all. Enjoy the book. I did!

All I can say is WOW, Kace Colt has pulled me in.
Lily is Kace’s neighbor and she is looking for an opportunity to meet this hot mysterious man.
Kace s also attracted to Lily and wants her badly. However, he is a man who could put Lily in danger.
Lily is sassy with a little bit of sweet. She has a great heart and likes to help people.
Kace is a sexy Alpha male with a side of danger. There is something about him that really drew me in. I’ve never felt fear, fear is week. I am not weak. - Kace
The attraction between Lily and Kace develops slow and when they finally get together watch out, you will steam up your kindle.
I really don’t want to say much more due to all kinds of surprises. The secondary characters added a great element and we have one heck of a cliff-hanger that has left me dumbfounded and wanting the next book NOW. Addison really draws you in with her writing.

Take about a writing duo that can create a book that will have you in one major book hangover. Addison and KE did a fabulous job with this book and you better believe that I will be jumping on the next one that comes out in this series!!! I mean they are brilliant and evil when writing together. This book I'm telling you was one that will have you flipping them pages and seriously holding a grudge against anyone who makes you put the book down. It is full of mystery, intrigue, suspense, some romance and there were some funny parts as well.
Kace is the mysterious next door neighbor. Lily knows there is something dark and dangerous about him but she can't seem to keep away from him. They are both drawn to him. They both know they should stay away from each other but they can't help themselves. Suddenly Lily's life starts getting crazy once Kace becomes more of a part of it. She has no idea what he does for a living but obviously its something that is not safe, especially for her but will it be enough for her to stay away.
A ton of stuff is about to happen but there is NO WAY I'm telling you more. I can only say that this is a must read and you don't want to miss out. I highly recommend this book and I seriously CAN'T wait to get the next!! No really I NEED it NOW!!! I'm dying here, full of anticipation to find out how all this is really going to play out. What did i just read !
Holy Mary mother if God was this a bloody brilliant book. I cant believe it ended the way it did i have to start liberate right now i have to know what happens next.!. Daaaaaaam the secrets and lies the deception man its like days of our lives but with sexy alpha assassin's. Just when i thought i had everything figured out boom ! Nope i knew nothing. K.E Osborn is one of my favorite go to author's ive loved each and every book ive read so far and now ive discovered Addison Jane and i feel like my mind is going to be blown all over again. Brace ya selves ladies and open your minds because your in for a bloody bumpy ride with this series. Absolutely knocked it out of the ball park. Kace and lily one darkness one light bring them together and watch the fireworks light up the sky and the bad guys take hit after hit.. cannot recommend this book highly enough. Now im going in to liberate god daaaaaaam i better brace my self for this one .

This book had me on the edge of my chair from the start until the finish. My anxiety levels were through the roof as I tried to work out in my head what would be happening at the next turn. This is Kace and Lily's story, he is the dark and she is the light. What Kace once thought of himself and his life is taken away from him by deceit by the people he trusted the most. This book keeps you guessing as to what will happen next and who will be responsible, the only thing you never have to guess is how much Kace needs and loves Lily. This is an amazing story and the writing by these two authors is nothing short of five stars. I am not sure if I can wait for the next book to come out without going insane. If you love strong alpha characters, suspense, drama, soul consuming love and not to mention some hot steamy scenes then this is the book for you.

I absolutely love these two authors and when they teamed up they absolutely killed it! I don't want to say too much about the plot line because this book is full of SO many surprises that I think you need to read it in order to get the full effect. Kase and Lily are perfect for each other, but they don't know it until it's almost too late. Kase goes against everything he's trained to do, everything he knows...for love. Lily is so kind hearted and loving and gets thrown into a life of gunshots and chaos and the only person she can trust is Kase. A man she doesn't even know. Addison and KE did a great job of keeping me on the edge of my seat. The storyline is fast-paced, the characters are well developed and the ending is amazingly explosive. I'm so excited for book 2!!

This was a great book. Mystery, hot chemistry, and of course lies. Finding out who's actually lying and what the truth holds may get you killed.
Many people rated this low just because there's a cliffhanger. I don't mind a cliffhanger and have no issue buying the next book to find out what happens to these characters as long as I'm invested.
This book was excellently written and had great character development. A good amount of angst and hot sex rounds this story out.

i cant believe i was left hanging in this book! just nooooooo. its about a guy who kills bad people for a living. he meets his neighbor who he wants but know it isnt right because of the line of work he is in. you must read this book! thanks quill& ink!

I'm a huge Addison Jane fan. Huge! I haven't gotten to read K E Osborn yet. But, after reading this I will change that. This has been on my kindle in my TBR pile for awhile. I'm glad I read it now when book 2 is going to release soon. Bc, after that ending I'd of been mad to have awhile to wait. I'm not even sure how/what to write.
Kace is not your typical man. He's quiet, observant and has the moves of a stealthy ninja. His job makes him do things most people couldn't and wouldn't do or understand. Kace does it because he loves his country and he'd do anything to protect it and the people.
Kace never questioned his duties. He did what was given to him. Kace had no reason to. But, then he met his neighbor Lily. He found himself drawn to her. No matter how hard he tries to stay away from her he continues to bump into her. Lily intrigues Kace. Kace sees she's the light to his darkness. Kace is realizing not everything is black and white.
Lily works as a surgical vet nurse and plans on owning her own veterinary practice one day. It's the only reason she deals with her boss and his verbal abuse. She is at a loss of words when she runs into her neighbor. He looks dangerous and Lily could careless Bc he made her feel things she's never felt before.
One night when Lily was watching Kace's dog Daisy someone broke into her apartment. Kace found out that everything he thought he knew was not so true. Kace does something for the first time. He disobeys orders. Kace and Lily are now on the run. The run of their lives to save their lives. The people chasing them are the ones closest to Kace. Kace was able to see the truth. He was able to see past what was made to be truth. Lily hasn't known Kace long enough to trust him. But, she can feel him and look into his eyes and see his soul. She'll stay next to Kace until her last breath. But, Kace vows that'll never happen.

Lily was great at settling Kace's emotions in check and not letting him get himself down. I can tell you this. I already have book two on my TBR list. I knew I had to read this before that. But, I was so not prepared for that massive ending! I didn't realize they weren't standalone. Not that it changes it Bc I loved it anyway. This is a must read. Addison and K E are an incredible team. I hope they keep writing together!

I hate cliffhangers, but the second book is already out. Not sure is this is a duet or a series, but we shall see.
I enjoyed the story line and the dynamic between Lily and Kace. I felt like there may have been a few too many twists and turns and not enough answered questions, but hopefully all will be revealed in the next book. I am looking forward to seeing more from the side characters.

When I started Deceit I did not know much about the book except for who the author were and being a fan of them I was immediately intrigued by there newest read. I was glad that I went into this book blind because I found that I enjoyed it so much more not knowing what was going to happen.
Kace was a really interesting character that was a mystery for a lot of the story. I enjoyed finding out more about him to find out how he became the person that he was. He was very intriguing character that was the ultimate alpha male. He does whatever is necessary to protect people and is someone trained to kill. These aspects of him are two of the main things that had me fascinated to find out more about him.
Lily had a heart of gold, which was evident with the volunteer work that she does in her spare time. She was fascinated with her mysterious neighbour that lived next door and I enjoyed the way that she tried to find out more information about him. I really enjoyed Lily and she had me laughing many times throughout the story.
Deceit is about Kace a trained killer that hides in the dark to protect the people who cant protect themselves. He has never had a problem with this until he meets the woman next door. She immediately has him intrigued, which causes her to become a distraction for him. Deceit is about when light meets dark and the way that two people who are attracted to each other try to make it work when they are so different from each other.
Overall, I enjoyed this story a lot and found that I couldn’t put it down once I started it. Deceit is one of them reads where you have to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next and the ending has me desperately waiting for the next book in the series to come out because I cant wait to see what happens next. I really enjoyed the secondary characters and hope to see them make reappearances in the next books in the series.

Kace Colt is a very intriguing, and super sexy alpha male that exudes danger from every pore. He's covert, stealthy, cunning, and a highly trained weapon that does what he needs to do to protect the innocent. He's never been distracted on any job, until he meets his beautiful, and feisty neighbor Lily. She watches Kace with innocent curiosity, as she has a big heart. But she is also extremely drawn to him, even though he gives her no reason to be, until he can't make himself stay away from her any longer. He lives in the dark, she in the light. But when he puts her in danger, will he be able to save her before it's too late?
The paragraph above was extremely hard to write, as it's almost impossible for me not to give everything away. My dramatic girly girl emotions are running amok, and I don't see that changing until the next book comes out. The character development is fantastic, with a very colorful, and hilarious cast of secondaries. Their simmering chemistry is throwing sparks out, and finally boils over into some SIZZLING sexy scene goodness that may or may not melt kindles. I've been a huge fan of KE Osborn for sometime, so she's been on the list of authors trying to KILL ME DEAD for a while, but Addison Jane has now been added as well, after that ending! I'm absolutely out of my mind, and my f-bomb parade has been circling the house all day, with no signs of it stopping anytime soon, not to mention some very creative, colorful metaphor name calling. Instead of answers, I have more questions from this high octane, serious twisty, and diabolically brilliant story. These two authors flowed perfectly together with no breaks in the story what so ever, and the suspense factor was off the charts amazing! And as I'm out of nice words for gushing, and the extreme emotions of being left hanging like that, still causing chaos in my head, I'll just end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Deceit!

Let me just start out saying “WOW”! I absolutely loved this book! I loved every part of this book and fell in love with every single character! I literally laughed out loud at so many parts in this book! Between I could not put this book down for the life of me! I wanted more after every turn of the page! This book left in a cliff hanger but it didn’t even faze me because it was so good. This book always left me wondering what was going to happen next! Lily is just a normal girl going through the motions of everyday life! She has a passion for animals and a hilariously funny best friend Molly! Molly puts a smile on my face every time she talks! Lily’s life is turned upside down when the mysterious Kace Colt moves into the apartment next door! Lily can’t seem to stop wondering who this secretive man is, while Molly just wants to take him home for herself! There’s an undeniable pull between Lily and Kace and neither of them expect the outcome. With the help of Max, the veteran lily visits, she gives Kace the trust he is needing to see where there relationship can go. Turns out, not everything is as it seems when it comes to Kace. While he lives in secret defending his country Lily gets pulled in whether she wants to or not when she becomes the target. The twist and turns this book took had me itching with anticipation. I never knew what to expect or what would happen next! Kace and Lily have to run for their lives because the one person Kace thought was on his side, took a hit out on lily..but who is she? And will they survive his team coming after them? I don’t know?!? Off to the next book to find out!

I love the writing style of both Addison Jane and K.E. Osborn, so I was eagerly anticipating the release of Deceit. This is the first title in The Vindicated series and its full of secrets, surprises, action, danger, twists and turns. This title left me with more questions, than answers by the time I reached the end of the book.
Kace Colt is dangerous, intriguing, sexy alpha male. Lily is a sweet and sassy. She's a caretaker and has a heart of gold, which makes her incredibly endearing.
The side characters captivated my attention just as much as the hero Kace and heroine Lily. The banter between the characters was fun and engaging.
The attraction between this pair builds slowly and the love scenes are incredibly hot and steamy.
This book is incredibly well written and a unique story and plot line. It's fluent, completely captivating, and throroughly engaging. I want the next book now and cannot wait for the next volume in this series and to see what is still to be revealed.

This is a first book in a new series, The Vindicated, Deceit is a tale of mystery, danger and romance. Be warned this one does end up with a cliffy.
Lily is sweet natured and has a caring capacity to all involved in her life but that doesn’t stop her yearning for more. When she spots her sexy mysterious new neighbour she knows she wouldn’t have a chance in hell for him to notice her but when he does, little does she know what she is about to become involved in.
Kace is a cold calculating alpha and his introduction was cleverly done, making him appear dark and mysterious. When he finally succumbs to the charms of Lily, I was a little disappointed that we lost that mysteriousness. All was kind of quickly revealed whereas I would have loved for this to be strung out a lot more.
The secondary characters were a merry band of alpha brothers but that’s as far as I can go without revealing the secret plot of the book. Although I liked Kace and Lily I wasn’t as taken with their relationship as it seemed to happen too quickly and not in an insta love way either. I can’t put my finger on it but it just didn’t gel right for me. As I say I loved Kace in the beginning but he lost that air of danger and mystery too soon. As for Lily I found some of her behaviour bizarre.
Overall though the plot was certainly different and although it ended abruptly and left me with plenty of questions, it was an okay read. Three stars.

This book is very Jason Bourne-ish. Kace Colt is a very interesting guy. He is infatuated with his neighbor and she thinks he is cute but she is not to sure on how to take him.
