Find out what the F in Platoon F truly means...

Nearly 1,500 pages of sci-fi absurdity are just a click away.

The SSMC Reluctant (Book 1)
An identity change. A space ship that travels on rails. A new captain who never saw this coming. Don Harr is a Segnal Space Marine who is being punished due to a military mistake. He has been physically altered, given a new identity, and placed in charge of the antiquated ship known as The SSMC Reluctant. Their first task is to fly the old beast around the planet in celebration of her fiftieth anniversary. But during flight, new orders arrive. Harr learns that their true mission is to destroy a nearby Kortnor space station. Worse, it's a suicide mission.

Angry Robots (Book 2)
Captain Don Harr and the crew of The SSMC Reluctant are being honored at a banquet. But while they're getting medals pinned on, the electricity goes out and the place fills with sewage. It's soon learned that the robots who run the sewers have had enough and they want out.

The SSMC Voyeur (Book 3)
Rear Admiral Parfait is on holiday when an archaic space probe returns to Segnal Prime. It has a message for the people of the planet, which seems innocuous enough, but Rear Admiral Conster sees it as an act of war. That means Captain Don Harr is in charge of fighting that war.

Earthlings (Book 4)
Captain Harr is told that the crew of Platoon F is going to travel back to planet Earth for further study. But Rear Admiral Parfait has decided he wants to join the mission, acting in the role of Senior Diplomat.

Synthetic DNA (Book 5)
Captain Harr and his misfit crew have returned to Segnal Prime 500 years in the future, where they learn that they're all heroes. But when it becomes clear that the race of androids has no need for sentient organic beings, things take a turn for the worse.

Warped Conduit (Book 6)
After breaking away from the Segnal Space Marine Corps, the crew of The SSMC Reluctant is searching for what to do next. Unfortunately, a race of beings who call themselves "The Overseers" already have plans for them. It's one of those deals they can't refuse. Worse, Captain Don Harr quickly learns that his new masters truly want everyone who isn't an Overseer to die. It means no competition.

Kidnap on Fantasy Planet (Book 7)
Things hadn't turned out as expected for Captain Harr in regards to love, but life goes on. But when he ends up dealing with a couple of pretty smart cavemen (who prefer to be called Early Evolutionary Humanoids), things get super strange. That's when a message comes in that the current head of Fantasy Planet, and Harr's prior commanding officer in the Segnal Space Marine Corps, has been kidnapped.

Veli Unveiled (Book 8)
Captain Harr is tasked by the Overseers to take out a world that is growing too quickly on the side of technology. Meaning it's just another day at the office. But when Harr sees the size of the armada he's expected to take down, he and the crew of Platoon F decide on a different route.

The Search for Veli (Book 9)
With Lord Overseer Veli on the run, Captain Harr and his crew of misfits must travel through time to take the bastard down. But screwing with the timeline causes rifts that interrupt everything Harr had ever known. I

f you like warped comedy, ridiculous physics, and more innuendo than you can shake a stick at, then you’ll love John P. Logsdon and Christopher P. Young’s outrageous space adventures.

Have read many reviews of different books that give outline of the story, but this is Logsdon and t it's not really something one could do when it's {Terry} Pratchett meets {Douglas} Adams meets Monty Python meets Red Dwarf meets Star Trek meets Doctor Who meets Twilight Zone/Outer Limits/Night Gallery.... Realized at end of the Pentalogy that there are 2 of 'them', writers, so guess 2 peas in an...alien pod.... Their 'issues' have 'issues', and sincerely suggest that they both seem professional help...after a couple or more...sets/series. The only caveat before was to not stop at 2 because it was the weakest and felt out of place, but this has been changed with new version. In other news, it is quite possible that Logsdon has taken too many hockey puck shots to the head but still....THIS SET IS ALL/9 TO DATE

Sorta funny, but mostly stupid

These authors don't know that a Marine officer is never assigned as a ship's captain. That's a Navy officer's job. You can be the commander of a Marine platoon, but not a ship. Also, the officer ranks in the Marines are different than the Navy's. The Marine's ranks are akin to the Army's, not the Navy's. So the rank of Commodore could not be bestowed upon Don Harr in the first place. The officers in the platoon would NEVER be the same people who operated the ship in any capacity, so the guy with 18 toes can't be a Commander, either. Jezbel would have been in the brig , and later sent to Leavenworth, for even one instance of the insubordination he perpetually displays. Also, Marines are the equivalent of passengers or security teams aboard ship. They don't have any business being on the bridge, or the command center onboard ship. Their role is more realized after they've been delivered to whatever land mass is in most need of a butt kicking. In fact, most of the things written about here, including the actual 'orders' given, are nowhere close to the genuine article. There has been zero effort to research how the military operates, or how to command men in the field. I know it's meant to be a parody, but it ends up like a mockery. As a vet, I'm not only unimpressed, I'm insulted. There's so much more to gripe about as far as the military is concerned. I know in the interest of comedy, things are overlooked, but this entire series is an insult to the military and it's members. And someone posted that there wasn't an agenda. Apparently, that person read with blinders on. There is most definitely a liberal agenda propagated here. Conservatives, including moderates, should give this one a wide berth.

Was an OK series, good pace, kept my attention, good character development, and consistency, until...
about half way thru the last book, and it was like the author said, OK had enough, want to do something else, so wrapped up everything, cut corners, a real slap dash half hearted effort.
With little development The "new" evil character gets transformed in about 2 pages, and then manages to capture all the goodies, in the weakest subplot I've read in over 40 years of reading.

Just a letdown that had the effect of ruining the whole series.
I was so close to giving this 1 star

A Bit Like Bill

Humorous military science fiction that mixes in enough valid satire to hold the reader's interest. I like this sort of thing, but most of the genre fails to live up to the book that arguably kicked the whole thing off: Bill the Galactic Hero by Harry Harrison. This gets close. I'd place this series as ranking up with Harrison's sequels to the original. That's a high rating by the way, there's nothing quite beats Harry's first one.

Space Hilarity

If you enjoy space adventures and juvenile (in a good way) humor this is definitely the bundle of books for you. The names of characters just need to be said out loud sometimes and you'll laugh quite a lot. Funny characters and an interesting take on journeys through space.

The prose here is truly breathtaking, every sentence crafted with such care. The characters were complex, and I found myself completely immersed in their world. The emotional highs and lows felt so real. I couldn't put it down once I started. This is one that will stay with me for a long time. Absolutely worth the read!

If you like gay comedy, this is your book!

Comedy comes in many flavors. This book does not meet my needs. It should be promoted as what it is, a hilarious story full of homosexual humor.

Join the wackiest crew in a ribald adventure

Take Star Trek, mix in Hitchhiker's absurdity, Python's silliness, and the gang from McHales Navy, and you can almost reach the speed these books achieve. Truly too much fun for one continuous reading.

I was given a free copy of this for an honest review. I really enjoyed the level of humour. It’s like immature lad humour whilst half cut in the pub. A big thumbs of for Logsdon. Something different from ononokin but you can tell they’re written by the same author

Bountiful bundle of boob and butt books.

A lot of funny books for not much money. Obviously not for the easily offended, but good for anyone with a sense of humor.

Funny and irreverent.
The inclusion of modern day classics ( all be it with slightly changed titles ) is great.

Brill series

Loved this series. More please! The plots, the crew, everything. All “out of this world”. Don’t hesitate to beam aboard.

Hard to put down. Full of twists and turns. Loved all of the puns about other SciFi shows and real life companies.

As much fun as I thought it would be.

And I can't wait for book 10 to come out!

Which I hear should be soon, even though the author is working on a brand new series!!

Very up, down, and long. However it sucks you in and leaves you wanting to know how it ends. Really enjoyed the twists on history/forklore that were incorporated into the story lines. Overall quite humorous.
