"Give My Regards to BLACK JACK" is one of the most popular Manga comics series in Japan. This work has recorded the smashing success of 13 million sales in Japan. Intern Eijiro Saito discovers that the reality awaiting him at the ultra-prestigious Eiroku University Hospital is one of brutally long hours for a paltry monthly salary of less than $500. His patients-first idealism crashes head-on into a medical system that's a veritable tangle of contradictions and competing interests.
Shuho Sato (佐藤 秀峰, Syuho Sato) is a Japanese manga artist. He won the Japan Media Arts Festival Manga Award (文化庁メディア芸術祭漫画部門優秀賞) for his work "Say Hello to Black Jack"
His assistants have included his wife, manga artist Tomomi Sato, as well as Masasumi Kakizaki (one year before his debut), Takahisa Shiratori, Itsunari Fujii, Eiji Nomura, Takashi Yoshida, and Kōjirō Umezawa.
Give My Regards to Black Jack was an interesting read and since it was a comic it was enjoyable to see the graphics that someone won't be able to imagine since there's so much blood and we don't see it very often. This one particularly part remains in my head where the doctor tells Jack that having to prioritize patients is the truth of being a doctor at the emergency room, and hospitals sometimes overcharge since they can decide how much they want to take from the insurance companies, which is one reason why doctors get paid a lot. Jack was surprised when he got a lot of money for one night which was around 130,000 yen for just one night of being an intern doctor at the emergency room.
