#2 in the "Border Nights"series, but can be read as a stand alone set in 1403 Scotland. A Historical Romance, mystery, with paranormal elements. Yes, it has a ghost. While, slow at times, it is still a very enjoyable and satisfying read! The characters are engaging, enjoyable and will capture your heart, especially nine year, Benjy. Well written, with an intriguing storyline. I enjoy Ms. Scott's tales of romance, Highlanders, the magic of Scotland, and her joy of the Scottish borderers. The H/H was engaging, even if the heroine was a bit over the top to me, she was a devil may care, have her own way, do as she pleases with her deceased brother whispering in her ear. The hero was strong, but a bit unsure of himself in his new position, as the guardian of the new laird, a nine year old and his sister. A bit of mystery and danger is not remiss, as well as passion and adventure. Overall, an interesting, enjoyable and satisfying romance. I can't wait for the next installment.
