The Alpha's Captive Omega

Rate this book
Jayle thought he’d lost his mate . . .

When war breaks out between the Seven Valleys and Seeling werewolf packs, Jayle is told that his betrothed omega died in a raid. The news devastates the new alpha commander of the Seven Valleys, whose dreams of marriage and children can now never come to fruition. Only at the end of the conflict does he learn his omega survived the raid, and was taken prisoner by the Seeling.

Betrothed to one alpha, but married against his will to another . . .

Rescued from years of captivity, Willow is brought home in bad condition. Jayle tends him with care, and love slowly blossoms between the alpha and omega. Then a new threat arises from a competing pack, threatening to end their future before it has a chance to start.

All they want is one another, and to live in peace. But Jayle will have to return to war. To fight for his home and pack, but most of all for Willow, and the child in Willow’s womb. The Alpha’s Captive Omega is a standalone M/M Mpreg shifter novel.

This is not your average Alpha/Omega book. Pay attention all.

First - this has rich world building that is detailed ala fantasy rather than just a few things pointed out. While it is clear this world has similarities with ours - there is this medieval vs. modern war that kept me quite intrigued the whole way through. I'll admit I was like "no way" on some things because they clashed like crazy but in the overall world it made sense.

Second - This is not insta love, insta mate or insta sex. The omega is damaged - terribly so. And he doesn't heal overnight. There is much discussion, much understanding. Not counseling -- but Willow gets time to decide what he wants in general. He places barriers and they are respected. The sex is there but very little and I *almost* didn't care much. It was more about the plot than the porn. BOTH MC's act their age. There are no representations of teenage girls here nor winsome innocent boys - these are men and they have lived real (even if it is fantasy) which leads to the third piece....

Third - Realistic feel. Jayle is not perfect - he is human and he is disillusioned. He suffers and feels empathy but he's also a warrior so sympathy is not necessarily high on the list for everyone. He makes choices that men and women make in war - and they are not sugar coated. He gives a little - but the good of the total overrides the good of the individual. I appreciated this.

I really enjoyed this one - I'm bummed it's not a series!

I'm completely blown away by how good this was; most of the time those Amazon freebies are just kinda "meh" - sometimes they're cringe worthy - and every now and again you get a good one...this one was probably one of the best freebies I've ever managed to pick up.

My friend Jo says it best. I too really, really wish this were a series. DEFINITELY gonna check out more by Octavia Zane if this is what I can expect from her books!

Very enjoyable :)

This is a new author for me, and I’m glad I took a chance. I really enjoy this authors take on PNR. Good world building, but could’ve been great if given a little bit more background. For instance, humans were mentioned once and that was about it. I don’t know how they belong in this world. More than likely this little bit won’t bother most, but when an author mentions something, and leaves it hanging, bothers me. I have to say that this is a very promising start for this new author :)

4.5 stars - Excellent story of wolves protecting their territory with lots of military action with swords and armor which was a nice surprise. The blurb sets up the beginning of the story nicely as Jayle and Willow are fated to be mates and have just been reunited after Willow had been held captive. Their happiness is short lived as a rogue pack is determined to take over their pack and steal Willow away as betas are rare and packs are willing to kill to have one. Some very nice world-building here. M-Preg is part of the story too, which worked as a nice twist. Enjoyed it. Couldn't put it down.

3.5 stars rounded up.

The setting was terribly confusing. Was this meant to be historical? Modern? Set today or in the past? The language felt historical as did the dynamics of pack relations, customs, territories/kingdoms, battle practices, etc. And then there're cell phones and land lines, cars and SUV's, outside jobs, college, and other things like that. It was jarring to feel a switch between, like it was meant to be both, a whole new current reality if this was the way the world evolved, and just ended up confusing and disrupting the flow of the story.

Willow was great, except for his reluctance with a certain aspect. It was understandable why he'd shy away from it, for very obvious reasons, but it felt wrong to me only because of how great Jayle was and Willow's recognition of that. He was a strong omega that knew himself and was determined not to settle for less than what he wanted despite being trained otherwise. He was an incredible support for Jayle when things exploded around them. I really liked his character, he had depth, drive, and heart.

Jayle also had tremendous heart. He was compassionate inside and devoted to the strength of his pack without being overbearing. That inner tenderness allowed him to care for Willow not just as the man he was destined to marry, but as a prisoner of war. He reigned in his needs because his omega's needs superseded his own despite upbringing saying that he should come first. That allowed their relationship to grow and feel organic, lasting, and believable. Jayle wasn't just the best of terrible options, he was truly Willow's choice. He was a good leader and I liked him a lot.

The villain was crafty, intelligent, and unfortunately, not immune to the bad-guy monologue. He was kind of over-the-top bad and definitely a proponent of winning at any cost. Overall he was a believable villain that we were glad to see get his. How it happened wasn't as quick as I expected but it also wasn't drawn out. He met a predictable end in a surprising way,...which I know makes no sense for you, but it works for me.

This was a good book, an entertaining read with lots of passion of varying types, a solid and tender ending that rounded out the whole story. The characters were dynamic and interesting and the interactions encouraged the reader to engage in their outcomes. Setting, however, was a disappointment because of the confusing timeframe and use of modern things in a historical world. I read and willingly reviewed this ARC from Hidden Gems.

Jayle is the alpha of the Seven Valleys and his pack just won a war with an enemy tribe. He was glad the war was over but sad because he has no hope of a mate. He used to be engaged to an omega but he died in a fire during on of the war's raids. Then his people bring in a prisoner they had been chasing through the woods one that appeared crazy. Jayle couldn't believe that it was Willow his future mate. The Alpha of the enemy pack had forced an imprinting on him but Willow fought it hard. That is why he appeared crazy. Jayle brings Willow back home hoping loving care would help him regain his sanity.
Willow was born an omega but he hated his role. He hated all the rules and protocol that ruled his life. His life was mostly planned for him with no choice and he hated that. He was unhappy that omegas always had to be the one who changed for the alpha. His time in captivity was very hard but during most of it he was treated just like everyone else until he went into heat. Then the enemy Alpha wanted him to carry on the pack. Now Willow is free but he is still expected to be with Jayle. Can he handle being a typical omega or will he forge his own path.
This is a great story with fantastic world building. I enjoyed Willow and Jayle would were able to go beyond their society roles for each other. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

I found that the picture of the society in this world was unnecessarily murky. Do humans know about shifters? Do they live in harmony together, or are they separate? We hear about various human governments and countries, but I got the impression that shifter communities were treated like separate nations - but it was never clear. In addition, I thought that it was odd that they talked so much about how important the process of Imprinting was, and how reprehensible it was that Will was forced into it, but we didn't actually have an understanding of what that meant through most of the book. I felt very much like an outsider looking in, and not having the tools to understand everything that I was seeing.

I thought that Will was a much more vibrant character than Jayle. I loved that Will refused to be cowed after he regained his sanity. He gained a focused sense of himself and became much stronger for it.

Overall, I thought that this book was ok. It didn't thrill me, but was fun and I think that I would read more in this world (like about the younger Canadian twin alpha).

*I voluntarily read a review copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*

3.5 stars

I've read loads of alpha/omega mm books but I have to admit, this one was different.

My heart broke for Willow - he's drawn to madness due to a forced imprinting. The author captured his memories in captivity vividly yet emotionally.

Jayle was a caring, protective alpha. Jayle earns Willow's trust by being patient and understanding. Their stolen sweet moments were tender with an affection that grew deeper as Willow broke free from his inner madness.

The plot was gripping but at times became confusing. There were parts where the story dragged on too much.

In terms of balance, the author focused a lot on the rebels and not sufficiently on Jayle and Willow. I wanted more meaningful interactions between the two MCs. It was easy to get lost in the detail of everything that was going on - I found myself rereading the same paragraph twice or skimming various sections because the plot became tedious.

Got from Hidden Gems ARC Club for an honest review.

First time reading from the author.

I love a big variety of shifter books. I loved the book. It was different in a good way. It was packed with action from the twist and turns from the war, it also has a little romance mixed in.
The author put so much into the detail, to make this story seem so real. The details were on war between pack that took Willow and his memory of what happen to him. At times I thought I was watching a war movie of shifters.
I thought the book was well written. It had a light steady pace, with so much detail it slowed down in some spots, but would pick back up. The characters were likable. Willow was my favorite of the two characters. Willow and Jayle had great chemistry when Willow wasn’t fighting his demons. They heated up the page and they slowly started to connect. Hope to read more from the author.

Thank you for letting me read your story.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was good. Willow and Jayle let were meant to be together, ever since they were young. Their relationship gets tested though. Willow is taken and subjected to attempts at forced bonding. All that time, Jayle was mourning Willow, who he thought was dead. Once back together, will they be able to get their relationship back to the way it used to be? I loved Jayle and how great he was with Willow during this time. I enjoyed the story.

For years now, Jayle thought that his mate had been murdered. Willowmark was abducted and now must struggle to overcome it. Despite trying, Willowmark cannot help but compare the two alphas. Will Willowmark overcome his captivity? Will these two get their happy ever after?

This book was filled with MM romance that offers violence, wolf shifters, and love. Loved how despite Jayle's alpha status, he was still willing to work with Willow. Loved when Willow was determined to not be an omega stereotype. Hot read and definitely recommend to MM Paranormal lovers!

This story is about an Alpha and Omega wolf who met when they were young and then again when it was time for them to be married. There were mated at a very young age. When the Alpha is told that his Omega has been killed during war, he is devastated. After three years of missing him, the Omega is found and has been held in captivity all of the years by another pack who has tried to take over his mind. The Alpha saves his Omega but can they overcome all of what he's endured over the years? Can love really come out on top? I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy.

This one wasn't what I expected, but in a good way. It's packed with action and intrigue and the author's attention to detail is very good. The pack politics had the potential to be boring, but with the dialogue between characters and being in the midst of war, the book held my interest throughout. Willow's flashbacks effectively shed light on his ordeal while in captivity and I liked that his relationship with Jayle built slowly as he dealt with his feelings.

This is a story of an Alpha and Omega that were betrothed young. The omega is married to another against his will and is suffering from fighting the bond when he is found.
Jayle is just glad that Willow is returned and is willing to wait until Willow is ready for more.
This is an intense story with a HEA.

I should rate this higher but as interesting as it is it just wasn't my cuppa. It was very involved and I felt like it was part of a series that I should have read prior to attempting this one. It also felt like less a romance than I sci-fi book that happened to have the smallest hint of romance.

I have never read this author before but was very impressed with this book. Well written with nicely developed characters. I thought it was a little choppy or I would have given 5 stars. I plan to read more by Ms. Zane.

Good story, plot keeps you entertained. Alpha is really sweet and firm with how he runs the pack. The omega is nuts at first and manages to find his sanity. Details of the a male being pregnant are present but not over done, it is just more mentioned than described. Really enjoyed it.

The Alpha's Captive Omega By Octavia Zane

The book was well written, but there was a lot of descriptions about things going on that didn't need to be in the book. It was longer than it needed to be. However I did love both MC's, Jayle and Willow, and their story.

Wonderful!

Very sweet love story. Interesting perspective on the anatomy of the male omega. No one else bothered to explain how a man carries a pregnancy and gives birth

I'd forgotten how much I enjoy this author! High action with little touches of softness and sex, so it's a fast read. Excellent complex MCs, neither one flat one-note stereotypes.
