Her protector, her nemesis. His once-in-a-lifetime second chance.
Kidnapped and taken from her home, Sienna is stuck in a beast community without the resources to find her way back. But she’s a survivor. Just like the wounded, bone-thin beast she finds in the desert.
Torrent was warned never to steal a human woman—especially if she’s his pair. He didn’t listen. Captured, beaten, starved by Men of Earth, he’s as near death as he can get without tipping into the void.
When her familiar scent brings him back to consciousness, recognition slams his gut. But there’s no answering light in her blue eyes. It’s just as well. If she remembered him, she’d know to run from the beast who once took her.
Although the spark of attraction burns bright between them, there’s danger in the heat. Because even if his crippled body had something to offer her, the forces arrayed against them are determined to snuff out their love before it catches flame.
Milana grew up with tales of water fairies that seduced men, vampires that seduced women, and Babaroga who'd come to take her away if she didn't eat her bean soup. She writes sci-fi fantasy romance with over-the-top heroes from her home on Earth where she lives with her mate and their three little monsters. • Safe from cheating, otherwoman drama, and with HEA every time, Milana's stories will entertain you. I've really enjoyed this series but I have to admit that this was my least favourite so far. Now it could very well be a case of it's me not the book but it didn't start to work for me until about the 70% mark. I just didn't like that Sienna hated him for so long and that she ... well anyway I'm not doing spoilers but it just didn't work for me. I understand why she'd be upset and that was fine for a while but it was too much.
I did really enjoy the last 30% and I'm really looking forward to the next and last book.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by a friend. Thanks Nikki 😊
I have to admit that this was probably my least favorite book in the whole series so far. For the most part of the story, I didn’t really connect to either MC, and couldn’t recall them very clearly from other installments of the series, like I have been with all the others. I found their falling for each other to be too sudden and unrealistic. Especially for Sienna, given her past and how fully she despises Torrent for most of the book. I can’t really say I’m surprised at Torrent’s instalove, since he’s technically been in love with her for a while, and he’s a Beast, so when he finds his Pair, he’s mated for life, and it’s out of their control on who their Pair is.
My favorite parts of this installment were actually the things going on off camera; the underlying uprising of the Men of Earth, the unease within the compound between the human women and the Beasts who also lived there. As well as just a sense of uncomfortableness, and strangeness, that the reader feels with regards to the environment and the people within the compound.
We ultimately get a very violent altercation within the compound that ended up being my favorite part overall. The intense emotions and brain-washing, along with the compound’s secrets that have been unknown to Sienna up to that point. You can definitely feel the final showdown coming with this installment, and I will say this one ended up getting me more excited for the Men of Earth storyline that’s been going on alongside the Beasts finding their Pairs. I understand there will be 2 more installments, ‘His Beast Mate’, #4.5, and the Final #5. I’m at once both excited and sad. I think ending it at #5 is a smart move on the author’s part, rather than doing it to death and losing its appeal.
Definitely excited to continue.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Caughty Beast Mate was an ok read for me. Although I have enjoyed the stories in this series the last two really didn't work for me. Again I just didn't like the h Sienna. I understood her anger and the fact that she was afraid of Torrent especially with the way he approached her. What I couldn't deal with was her immaturity and her prejudice towards the beast. She was also just mean and lacked empathy which I didn't like at all. This went on for longer than I enjoy since the stories are not that long. I did really enjoy the short glimpse into the next book and I look forward to it.
I think this is just not for me. Maybe the aliens are a tad too alpha barbarian for me. Either way, I'm glad to have eliminated this from my Series to continue or DNF list.
This is one of my favorite series and this book did not disappoint. I have been "patiently" waiting for this book. Sienna is a sweet girl that's been sheltered and treasured by her dad, who is a total badass by the way. Torrent had found her, his mate, and tried to take her without going through the proper channels. But her dad's not like other dads in the books, he won't sell her for any amount of money and he would move heaven and earth to save her.
This book starts with Sienna finding Torrent, but she doesn't realize he's the one that tried to kidnap her. This book has a lot that goes on and we get to find out more about the ranks of the beast and how close they are coming to shut down the Men of Earth, which I can't wait for because these men are horrible people and it's sad to see.
We get all the emotions in this book, as with all her books. It's a great storyline, funny, hot, sad, shocking, some hero worshipping and we get a glimpse into the future for these two. I absolutely cannot say enough about how much I love this series....definitely one of my favorites and will be a re-read for me in the future. It truly is like sci-fi crack and my addiction is real. Psst....still have dibs on Mayhem....just sayin *winks*.
The series was weak from the beginning, however I felt that it has some potential. Unfortunately, it seems that it only goes backwards with the quality. There could be so much more to this world and these characters, however the author keeps writing in the style of an overly excited teenage girl who just learnt she can use her fingers to make herself feel good. I regret the potential lost, however I won't be following this series anymore.
Very dark themed PNR - Penultimate story for the Beast Mates series
I do NOT consider these to be stand-alone reads, as there are reoccurring characters and overarching themes. I HIGHLY recommend these be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers.
Contains very dark and dystopian type themes. These include adult language, steamy adult intimate scenes (BDSM scenes with dominance, submission, restraints, deprivation, blood play, breath play, spanking) and violence (kidnapping, abduction, murder, torture, rape, assault, human trafficking, enslavement, cannibalism, betrayal, fighting, etc.).
⛔️ If you have not read the previous stories, the following will contain spoilers.
There are grammatical issues throughout the story. These include typos, misspellings, and incorrect, missing, and extra words. I am trying to mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read as errors disrupt the flow.
Milana Jacks has done a great job keeping the overall storyline connected while still presenting the reader with diverse and interesting characters.
Torrent is an Alpha and last of his royal line. The paternal line of his family has served as the High Priest for their planet. When Torrent realized that his father wasn’t the male he portrayed himself to be, he decided to emigrate to earth with Jamie, the Alpha Beast. Everyone expects that he will take up the religious mantel and serve as the High Priest for earth.
Unfortunately Torrent found his “pair”, or aka mate, and didn’t follow the instructions hammered into all the males’ heads by Jamie and his brother Vice. It is prohibited for them to abduct any females. They arrived at an agreement with the humans when they set up a pairing agreement. The females must be 19, unmarried, must be given 30 days to complete training, etc.
When Torrent seen his mate taking a bath sans clothes in a cold pond he was tempted. When he seen another male get into the same body of water, also sans clothes, he couldn’t control himself. Torrent abducted her, attacked her Dad, and was shot.
Sienna was only 17 when she was abducted by a Beast. Her Dad, John, had always protected her and showed her how to survive on her own in the wild. Sienna’s mother died when she was born and John has always doted on her. He made sure that she was aware that it was the two of them, they could trust no one, and he would never sell her as some of the other men had done.
Needless to say, Sienna was very scared and upset when she was kidnapped by the Beast. She vowed to get away and she did. Sienna was able to take shelter with Momma Jo, her husband and many children. She is able to complete some chores in exchange for food and board. After she is there for a little while, the Beasts come and invade the compound. Some are killed, some escape, but most of the females are kept there so the Beasts can try and show them they are not the enemies they think they are.
Occasionally Mayhem and his pair come to the compound, but leave a couple of Beasts there to run it for them. Hasel is over it day to day and treats Sienna pretty much as Momma Jo did before. Mayhem’s pair told her not to give up, that her Dad was alive and looking for her. So now, Sienna takes excess sticks of wood and uses them to make markers for her Dad to find.
On her way out to place more markers, Cole, Momma Jo’s son, wouldn’t let her go out without him. He constantly called her “his woman” and talked about how he wanted to train to be a warrior like the Beasts. On their walk, they ran across a Beast that looked as if he had already died. They quickly realized that he was alive, but in very rough shape. Cole then “marked” him and refused to leave him, saying that he now belonged to him. Sienna wasn’t sure he would survive a trip to the homestead. His ribs were showing, his eye was swollen shut, his fur mated, one of his back legs was really messed up, and he was covered in bruises, dirt, cuts, and who knew what else. She wanted to leave him but they used leather straps and dragged him back to the homestead.
After bringing him back, Hasel had Sierra help her remove his leg, feed, and bath him. He didn’t want her there. Didn’t want her to see him like that, half a Beast. He knew he didn’t look like himself, which is a good thing. What would happen if she was to figure out that he was the one that kidnapped her … attacked her Dad … and violated the agreement between them and humans. He would be lucky to be alive a few days after Jamie learned of what he had done.
I read the first in the series and loved it, but wasn't intrigued by the other books until I read the blurb for this one. I am pretty sure there is a warning somewhere that this isn't a standalone, but I figured I could squeak through on my single book knowledge - big mistake. I was lost for a lot of the book because it plays into the overall story arc that has been developing since book one. But, the chemistry between these two was crazy. Seeing Torrent really try to make up for how his actions changed the lives of so many, but especially his mate, was good for my soul. He was the perfect compliment to her jagged edges and never let her feel alone. They were just too swoon worthy! The world building is good, but harrowing in its desolation. It shows the human race at their worst, which is hard to read. So having the sweet, sexy romance between a beast and his mate was a much needed respite.
I didnt really care for this... So he kidnaps her and she escaped and they meet again... When he knew she found him out he didnt even really apologize or feel any real remorse. Just well i did what i did cause your mt pair... Thats bs. And then he was touching her with out permission like oh getting her worked up will make her not realise what you already done to her. And she just forgives him all willy nilly.... Ummm no. And that she kept being 'forced' to help him... Like the older female couldnt do it??!!? And she keep saying she cares for her... This whole thing was ...idk.. I feel think they where all f'd up in the head till the calvary come with the common sense...well mostly.
It's like literary crack, and I'm an addict. With every story, I fall more deeply into this world. I love the character dynamics and the action is always intense, but this one was special. Torrent was damaged, captured by the crazy bad zealots, but escaped. The girl was just trying to survive in a world that she was unfamiliar with. It was so violent and full of bluntly stated prejudices. I didn't see the Cole twist coming, and I'm hoping that Zayik made it into the next book too. I tried just reading a few chapters last night, but now it's almost time to get up for work. So addictive, and I don't even mind that I stayed up too late because I couldn't put it down!
I quite enjoyed the eventual relationship that these two formed. But the route there was winding, bumpy and rather rough. The abuse that Torrent suffered at the hands of Men of Earth was horrible to learn about. The manipulation and games that went on at the breeding house were almost as bad. I found it hard to believe that Sienna didn't recognize Torrent earlier. I was glad that she was finally reunited with her dad, but not entirely with how it occured. Definitely a hard-won HEA for these two.
We get to find out what happened to Torrent when he went with Alpha Jamie and Vice to raid the community but was ambushed instead. Sienna is the mate that ran from him, she is now hiding in a community in New Mexico with other beasts and human women. There is quite a few betrayals that happen in this book. But it ends in a HEA for Sienna and Torrent. You have to read to find out what happens when her father comes to get her!
My God did I hate what happened to Torrance. He deserved it at first for abandoning his morals and taking Sierra. But still for Humans to smash somebodies bones over and over again just because they're scared is inhumane!!! Women can be just as devious as the men and that's a sad shame that they are brainwashed like that. Now I see what can happen with so much inbreeding. Your books are really emotionally raw and sexual as well and it definitely keeps me hooked while I'm in it.
This one was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. Greats ups and downs. I was sad when Hasel was killed and I didn't know how to feel about the young boy. I love this series and I love the more I read the more the world opens up. I hope there is more to come ;) Amazing HEA!
Another great beast book. I love how they are all so different. I find that often series books become to similar, that they're formulaic and artificial after a time. The beast books don't fell into that trap, band I love that about them. Each hero is fully individual, as is each heroine
Torrent had so much to overcome., Sienna also. He persevered and got better. I loved the chemistry between Sienna and Torrent. Sienna finally recognized that Torrent was the one who had kidnapped her. I enjoyed their HEA. Thank you Ms. Jacks for another great story.
I. Enjoyed story towards the end. A disabled alien whose disability was like a walk in the park. A clueless heroine with so much hate, her naivety made her forget about it. Or writer did. Hard to imagine a shapeshifter having... Well. If you got a dirty mind, that wasn't where I was going. Not going to spoil it.
I enjoyed every page of this book. So much action, funny and sarcastic at the time. It intrigued me so much of was all going to work out , everything seemed impossible but at the end.. everything work out well. I li,Ed it very much. I liked it that he didn't threatened her like a caveman but was more ge the then everyone before. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
A different take to the beasts story and has a lot of backstory as to their home planet which was nice. I appreciate the radicalism and contrasts shown. Having taken a break from the series and coming back it was a little hard to remember some of the past experiences.
Found in the desert half dead, with a crushed leg, Torrent is dragged back to the nearest community by his mate and a human boy. There are other beasts there, and the Alpha beast is due soon. But the Men of Earth have sunburned all the human women in this community, and there's Hell to pay before the happy ending.
A Beast with many regrets. Crazy, unhinged, humans. A sweet girl trying to survive. Torrent was a High Priest. He decided the position when he came to Earth. He stole a young woman. Her father shot him. They all got separated. Now they all battle to find each other. Dianna learns a hard lesson. Torrent learns his place . good one.
This was great. I was really happy with the longer book compared to previous books in the series. I'm excited for the next two, but unhappy that they'll be the last and end of the series. I highly recommend the whole series and the current book.
Loved this book. I have a great love for shifter books of all kind. What a ride of emotions, with so many twists and turns; you'll not be able to put it down? Very cool story and highly recommended?
Great book. Well written and very entertaining. The complaint about cutting? Blown out of proportion. The guy's an alien beast man with claws... of course sex might get a little kinky. I'm really loving this series
Still waiting for them to catch the villain. I couldn't believe Cole was involved with what happened at the party. I was mad Sienna let Mother Jo come , knowing she hated the beasts. If Torrent hadn't been strong they all would have died.
This series just gets better and better. The author tells a beautiful heartwarming story with no typos and always a HEA! A broken beast that never gives up and the human girl brave enough to love him!
So much good story. But also bloodier than I was expecting. This one was heartbreaking so very heartbreaking but ended with me smiling wide. Sad there’s just one book left
I love the 'Beast Mate' series, although the books are short they still convey a depth. The world building is interesting and progresses throughout the series. Also every book is unique so the series doesn't get boring. The narrator is fantastic with male and female voices.
