Sui Ishida (石田スイ, Ishida Sui), born December 28, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese manga artist
In 2010 he won the Young Jump 113th Grand Prix award with Tokyo Ghoul (東京喰種, Tōkyō Kushu). In March 2011, the same oneshot was published in the 2nd Issue of Miracle Jump. And later in September 2011, Tokyo Ghoul started as a series in Weekly Young Jump 2011-41 Issue. In December 2011, he made another oneshot about Rize that was published in December 2011 in Miracle Jump 6th Issue, which was later collected in the 6th volume of Tokyo Ghoul.
In 2013, he also started Tokyo Ghoul: Jack in the digital magazine Jump LIVE.

Sui Ishida is his penname; nobody knows his real name or what he looks like.

No sé si lo he dicho anteriormente pero me encanta como Ishida aprovecha los cuadros de diálogo y los paneles para transmitir la información necesaria de los pensamientos y emociones de los personajes. Sabe cuándo poner solo palabras y oraciones cortas y otras veces cuando poner imágenes pequeñas o grandes que abarcan un buen espacio pero que son simbólicas y muy significativas y representativas para cada uno de ellos. Amo que sepa muy bien de dónde tirar, donde dibujar y donde pinchar para que la escena se vuelva más emotiva.

Así que he llorado con las escenas de lucha y sacrificio de Naki, Hinami y Kaneki por lo bien que están planteadas visualmente. Como todas las demás que se han visto con anterioridad.

In the sequel series to Tokyo Ghoul, Haise Sasaki has been tasked with teaching his special squad of half-ghouls how to be outstanding Investigators, but this is complicated by the troublesome personalities of his subordinates and his own uncertain grasp of his Ghoul powers. Will he and the members of his squad become heroes or monsters, taken out by the other squads in the Commission of Counter Ghoul...?!


The Premise

In Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 13 so much happens that I was at once confused, awed and messed up!! Urie goes into his big battle with the head of the CCG and what a fight it is... there were so many twists and turns each chapter my head was spinning. Really though Washu's plan totally took into account Ken and all of his allies reactions... so we don't have the expected resolutions to all the different battles. And Sui Ishida blows us away with a crazy ending that has Ken following through with his worst habit... going it alone. It's explosive and a must read!!


The Buzz

One thing that I really appreciated in Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 13 was the map spread where we catch up with all the different groups in the field and where they are at. With so many characters this was a lifesaver!! We also meet a strange new character who talks in symbols... count me intrigued!! The time jumps were even crazier than normal in this volume and contributed to the cliffhanger feel as well as to my confusion at times. It really does feel like a frenetic battle in here...


The Feels

We have some long friendships that have endured through Tokyo Ghoul and right into Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 13. And we see that sometimes friends sacrifice for those they care about... in the most ultimate of ways. Everyone sees Touka's condition as a point of hope for future human and ghoul relations and it totally breaks my heart some of the characters we say goodbye too. Then we have that end with Ken that confuses and wows at the same time... will he survive to meet Touka again?!


The Visuals

We have some deaths in Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 13 and wow were the spreads for those gorgeous!! One in particular broke my heart (even if I was a little confused at times during the battle that lead up to it). There was a magnificent escape and the art totally wowed me. Every time I marvel at how much I like the art, especially during battles and the kagune moments. Urie's battle was a great example of these this time around.

Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 13 takes us on a high octane battle scape where the ghouls are pincer trapped... We have some high priority VVIPs to rescue and it looks like Ken has been outsmarted. It's a little confusing but totally worth the wild ride!!

3.5 perhaps?

wow okay

this volume is very uneven. Chapters 142- 144 were incredibly strong. I couldn't stop reading. However, the begining was rather mellow. I'm not that huge on all those fighting panels. I must admit though, that Urie's arc in this volume is stunning. He's grown so much, I'm so proud of him.
Also this volume has plenty of deaths I'm still trying to process.

THIS VOLUME WAS FUCKING INSANE!!

My god, I did not see some of the events happening in this book!! I read this on my commute and physically had to restrain myself from shouting out! Instead I writhed in my seat in an attempt to contain my emotional outburst.

THIS VOLUME WAS PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING! I LOVED IT!

Considering it’s a chunkier book, I devoured it. There were more epic and gore-filled fight scenes, lots of villainous content and a tonne of surprises which knocked me for six! All I will say is KANEKI!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

My opinions on certain characters have changed throughout the course of this series and the series overall - a couple of notable ones are Mutsuki (no longer like), Takizawa (like), Uta (no longer like) - I’m finding that some I originally liked, I really don’t anymore and those I was pretty terrified of before are great :)

I think for me this series has introduced me to a plethora of morally grey characters and your feelings towards quite a few of them will shift and change as you progress throughout the story - most remain bastards or heroes (such extremes) but there are a few middling ones to watch out for too.

JUST READ THIS SERIES AND SAVOUR THIS INSTALMENT!

So much is happening I had to read it twice. The characrer growth, some amazing fight scenes, and some emotional deaths helped make this volume great. But some confusing skips and pacing hurt it at times. The author tends to do that. A 4 out of 5.

Premessa: fino al volume precedente, per me erano riletture, da qui inizia il viaggio (che temo) verso l'ignoto.
Ho così paura di sapere cosa succede che ho il volume sul comodino da 22/10/2018 😳 (giorno in cui l'ho comprato) ma non sono più andata avanti (così come non sono andata avanti con l'anime che ho visto, differenze permettendo, fino al punto in cui avevo letto il manga).

Per cui, iniziamo:
🤯
da circa metà in poi, visto il numero degli avvenimenti che si succedevano, flashback e flashforward, salti di qua e di là (e le maledette scritte piccolissime, impossibili da leggere) ho avuto problemi a capire cosa succedeva.


Alla fine, il senso di questo volume, si può riassumere che, per aiutare e difendere chi si vuole bene, qui tutti (umani, mezzi umani, Ghoul, mezzi ghoul) rinunciano ai propri principi.

Dopo che avrò letto i restanti volumi, farò una rilettura almeno a partire da questo.

I think this is one of the few times this manga has made me cry.

First of all, my heart aches for Naki, the dumb leader of the white suits. I really don’t want him to die ‘cause the guy has won my heart and I do care about him.

On the other hand, I feel so bad for Hina ‘cause she’s just a teenager and she has lost so much along the way. I get that she developed feelings for Kaneki but I hate that she basically shut down herself ‘cause Kaneki never saw her as something more than a little sister. Either way, I don’t want her to die either but I’m proud too, of how much she’s grown and helped others in any way she can.

Urie too, changed a lot and had this important thing called CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT (which Touka lacks). He fought, along with Kuroiwa senior, against Roma, the childlike 50 y/o woman who created the Clowns. Their fight had me on my tip toes but in the end, with Kuroiwa bleeding out, Urie told him it wasn’t his fault Urie’s dad got killed.

Now, the big moment I was scared it would come, was the fight between my dear Juuzou and Kaneki. Both of them are characters who are trying to do the right thing for their own teams but I cannot pick a side. Though Juuzou looks amazing with that armor (Hanbe too!). I wish we could see how in the hell Kaneki lost (makes sense since he never asks for back up) and what will happen next.

Last but not least: I told y’all Hide didn’t die! He was eaten, kinda.

Everytime I think this series can’t get more intense and escalate further—it does. An insane volume. Also fuck Furata.

I guess this volume is kind of...so far so good? Not brilliant but not bad neither? I like the art work and the fight scenes so much but story wise something is missing for a bit. The story is clearly going somewhere but I can't say I'm completely satisfy with how the story going.

So, 3.9 stars.

Blah, he really has a knack for making things extremely confusing to follow at times. A bit less jumping around would be nice. Also not having 1000 faces that I have trouble telling apart would be nice, but I think I just have trouble with faces.

THERE’S THIS SCENE OF ALL THE VERSIONS OF KANEKI, YOUNG AND OLD, LOOKING AT HIS RUINED BODY ON THE GROUND :O & THE PERSONALITIES ARE ALL ARGUING WITH EACH OTHER & CAN SETTLE ON THE FACT THAT THEY WANNA SEE TOUKA & NOT LET HER GIVE THE BABY A WEIRD NAME SO KANKEI, ARMLESS & HEADLESS, BITES THE FACE OFF OF THIS GUY HAJIME IN FRONT OF HIM & ATTACKS ALL THE OGGAI PEOPLE AROUND HIM, FEASTING ON THEM & THE ONLY THING DRIVING HIM IS THE THOUGHT OF TOUKA OMG <3 <3 BUT KANEKI BECOMES THIS MONSTROUS CENTIPEDE CREATURE OMG & IS TAKING DOWNT HE CCG BUILDING, IS IT? TOUKA, HINAMI & TSUKIYAMA & NISHIO MEET UP & TSUKIYAMA’S DEVASTATED THAT THE CENTIPEDE AROUND THE CCG TOWER IS KANKEI OMGG LOL - and one hide HIDE’S ALIVE BUT HIS VOICE HIS GONE SO THEY HAVE A DEVICE THAT LETS HIM SPEAK :O :O OMG& HE WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT KANOU FROM THESE DOCTORS THAT HELPED HIM- & they believe Kanou was making some medicine using ghoul ‘powers’ & is ‘reporting’ to his dead mother, like whattt??? Hide goes to Akira & Amon for help & when they ask why he’s doing so much for Kaneki, he says, simply, BECAUSE HE LOVES HIM OMGGG HIDE <3 MY BABY & Kaneki’s ghouls are all saying he killed humans for revenge & TSUKIYAMA GETS MAD & SAYS NO, KANEKI HELD LOVE FOR GHOULS & HUMANS ALIKE & THAT WHY CAN’T THEY JUST WANT KANKEI TO BE HAPPY!??! AWW & he SAYS HE WANTS TO SEE KANEKI ACHIEVE HIS GOALS & GET A BITE OUT HIM AND HIS BABY - THE COMBO OMGG LMFAOOOO THIS MAN DKM. Kanou kills himself like wtf - & Hide, Amon & Akira join up with Touka’s group & she’s shocked to see him. Kanou’s research assistants show up with info, saying that if they find the main individual body inside the centipede & kill that, the huge centipede will enter a decay state - so they gotta find Kaneki, which is what Hide & Touka & co are heading out to do as well. So Hide brings all the ghouls to the CCG building & tell them the situation & how they’ve all gotta work together to get KAneki out & there’s instant resistance but the ghouls drop all their masks & Amon yells at the CCG, saying their duty is to preserve peace first & foremost not kill ghouls -so they agree to work together :O -Hide & Touka are talking & he takes off his mask & I THINK THE BOTTOM HALF OF HIS FACE IS FUCKED FROM WHEN KANEKI BIT HIM!??!

******SPOILERS AHEAD******

He's cannibalizing.. he's going to live.. he's eating kids.. they are Oggai.. he's destroying the world.. he won. I have mixed feelings. Ishida dropped hints about a King in the past, so strong to oust the CCG, but too strong to have destroyed the civilization. Is Kaneki's future running parallel to his? Does he even have a future after all this? When did all this come down to Touka?

I really enjoyed the last chapter with all Kanekis and a Haise. Though it was really confusing to follow along, I was amazed at how each form had a totally different personality.

It all made sense after this dialogue though, whatever form he's in, one thing never changes, he always pushes on.

Kaneki eclipsed every other incident that happened but these are some notable ones.
- Urie has my heart. Not only did he rebel against Furuta, he overcame his hard feelings for Kuroiwa and managed to beat a SSS Rate Ghoul.
- Mutsuki, I'm glad you got fried. You were a nuisance and I'm happy to get a respite from you for the time being atleast.
- Marude and Matsuri have joined hands with Nagachika Hideyoshi? Balloon head that helped Amon-san escape? Is this for real?
- Hinami-Chan giving a tough fight because she blames herself for Kaneki's miserable life.

This was absolutely a mad volume, so much was happening, I didn't know who was going to come out on top and the ending, I've no idea what to expect here on..

This volume was INSANE! I’m speechless 😱

First, there’s Urie and Kuroiwa confronting the freakazoid. They catch him absolutely red handed being an absolute menace who works with ghouls, and start a fight that had me sweating. Truly showing that they’re not just puppets of the CCG, and I have to respect that! 😔👌🏻

Then we have the GOAT group being attacked on almost all sides 😭 My poor babies are just being mercilessly hunted down, and for what? To break my heart? At least I got to see Yomo being a badass once more. He went toe to toe with Mutsuki, and showed damn well how he’s survived this long in the ruthless world of ghouls 💖

Then there’s my man fully blacking out when he faced Juzo. I truly thought he would win against Juzo. Tbh, my constant fear this whole series has been that Juzo will die 😭 I don’t know how I would handle that… But what I can tell you is I’m getting sick and tired of my man Kaneki being dismembered. Just leave him alone! Fuck, he’s gonna REALLY turn into an old man with all this 😩

And somehow Kaneki fell right into the freakazoid’s plan by eating the Oggai? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? I mean sure Kaneki goes feral when he’s in cannibal mode, but literally even in his most deranged state all he’s thinking about is Touka. How is this to the benefit of the freakazoid. Like, hello?!?!

P.S. How dare Sui Ishida only give me SCRAPS of Hide? Just him in some weird mask holding up a lil sign to Urie 😭 Like, wtf?

I've been blaming myself for not being able to do anything. For being helpless... It was too much for me as a kid. I needed to blame someone in order to cope with it. But I've grown up. I'm here. I can handle it now.

Jesus, what a roller coaster of a volume this is. As we approach the end, the story gets so intense. I'm not sure what my favourite moment is: Urie's amazing character development (I genuinely cried) or Kaneki's schizophrenic mind palace meeting (which managed to be dramatic and somewhat hilarious at the same time). I love these characters.
