Love isn’t always what it seems to be…..when you are living in the past
When you can’t believe what you see… In the summer of 1978, photographer Zac Daley is the only one who sees a young woman in the lake, crying for help. When she shows up in his photos, and begins sending him cryptic messages, he must find out why. When you don’t believe what you’re told… Amanda Bresky has not given up on Zac, even though her parents have forbidden her to see him. They can’t see past his long hair and hippie clothes, and even Zac himself has told her they aren’t a good match. He wants no part of a relationship, and thinks they should just remain friends. But she is determined to break through to his heart, whatever it takes. When the truth is buried in the past… Zac’s interest in the mysterious girl in the lake becomes an obsession when she appears, demanding he deliver a message for her. With Amanda’s help, he sets out to solve the mystery, but at a cost neither of them could foresee. Haunted by his own past, Zac is determined to leave Fort Winston, Colorado as soon as possible─but a wayward ghost and a certain hot-blooded redhead are tempting him to stay.

While book one in the Higher Elevation Series began a bit slow for me, I found that I had absolutely no trouble at all jumping back into the series to follow characters that you get to know and love in book one. Untouched follows Zac and Amanda, giving their relationship that is briefly touched on in book one a much more involved story. Naturally there are supernatural elements, and this plays in nicely with the previous ideas instilled throughout the first book.
“I will never regret kissing you, Amanda. But I won't be responsible for breaking your heart.”
Poor Zac, he's carrying around some serious baggage. He can't help but be attracted to the sweet, innocent, yet feisty Amanda. Still, he refuses to burden her with his past, and with a relationship he doesn't feel as if he can commit to. I can't help but love him. He is just such a solid, GOOD guy, and I don't get to read about as many of those as I'd like.
Amanda carries her own baggage, yet hers isn't in the past, it's in the present. With an as yet unrequited love, and an overbearing mother intent on fighting every battle except the one most important, Amanda has her hands full. This doesn't stop her from trying to help Zac solve his mystery so that he can gain closure, or from trying to win his heart.
The setting for these books is so easy to get caught up in. The time it's set in makes me imagine everything happening in a sort of faded color, as if I were watching an old movie. The pictures painted are clear, and while it is absorbing, it never distracts from the story itself. The town and it's mysteries are easy to lose yourself in, and I found myself breezing through book two in only one sitting. ~ George, 4 Stars
This is book two of a series by Renee Regent called Higher Elevation series, You do not have to of read book one to enjoy this book, although book one does touch on one of the characters from this book but if you plan to go on and read book three then you will definitely have to of read book one. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first one - it still has romance, mystery, and supernatural phenomena, but this one I didn't want to put down. This book follow Zac the photographer from book one and Amanda a sexy redhead. Zac has a troubled past and although he wants Amanda he's not prepared to get involved with her. But Amanda is on a mission to change his mind, she surprises him with a picnic for his birthday and has even bought him a present an old camera she found in a pawn shop. Zac get Amanda to pose for some photos in front of the lake as he goes to take the photo he see a girl in the lake in trouble, yet when he looks up from the camera there's no one there, he gets Amanda to looks but she can't see anything not even through the camera. Zac jumps in the lake to check for certain but finds nothing. They even report it to the rangers just in case but when he checks the following morning they hadn't found anything either. Then Zac starts to get cryptic messages from the girl. With Amanda's help they set out to solve the mystery. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book and I am certainly looking forward to book three.
This book just jumped right into the story and had no problem understanding any of it. We meet Zac and Amanda in book 1 but only get a glimpse. We get the whole story finally. Zac is a gifted photographer but there's something that he hasn't healed from. Amanda is determined to show him she wants more then just a friendship. She comes from a very sheltered household. Her mom is bat shit crazy but mellows out by the end. She takes the role of leader a bit to far and drives Amanda crazy. I loved this story because a) it has a mystery and b) I'm a sucker for finding out the truth, helping people heal and watching two people fall in love. This involves a ghost that needs the truth to come and only Zac can help her.I devoured this book. I couldn't put it down for nothing. I did laugh during Peggy's speech on drugs and the name of the county they lived it. That made me laugh hard. This book was entertaining and kept your attention from beginning to end.
★★★★ ~Lindsey~ This is the second book in the series and I must say I Liked this one more than the last. This book just had a faster feel to it and it didn’t take long for me to get into it. This is a great book that really makes you connect with the characters. Zac and Amanda’s chemistry pops off the page and holds you there until the end. This is a great follow up book and it did not disappoint. The flow of the writing, the characters, the plot and all of it just came together to make a great story . Zac and Amanda’s story will definitely take you on a lovely rollercoaster ride you will not want to leave. I really enjoyed this story and the passion and romance that just grips you and leaves you wanting more. Their journey to love was one that was very sweet and to me a little different. I usually don’t like a lot of things in books but I find with this story that everything just feed off the next . I can’t wait for the next one because they are getting better by the book.
Book Two in the three book series features Zack, Sarah's best friend from book one. He is still not convinced that paranormal things actually happen, even after his experience with Sarah. Then something happens to him. He alone sees the lady in the lake—and--she starts communication with him. Amanda, another friend, wants to move out of the friend zone and into more. Zack doesn't plan on a relationship. Amanda is interested in Zack despite his hippy appearance and her mother's strong disapproval. If you can't beat them (talk him into a real relationship) join him. Amanda moves to help solve his mystery.
Zack is in for some surprises and battles. Fighting the stubborn Amanda, all right gorgeous doesn't make his pursuit of the truth easier. During his experiences with the Lake Lady, his past haunts him as well. Will this whole experience change his beliefs? Will Amanda win out? Another reading experience from Ms. Regent. This is the second book in the Higher Elevation Series trilogy.
This second book focuses on Zack and Amanda's story. Zack is seriously attracted to Amanda she is a sweet, innocent and feisty girl. But Zack is carrying around so much baggage that he feels that he cant commit to Amanda as he would just bring her down and burden her with his past.
Amanda is also carrying baggage but not from her past but in the present day. The poor girl has so much on her plate especially from her controlling mum.
This doesn't help Amanda help Zack out to save his mystery so that hopefully he maybe able to move on.
