Rate this book
For 55-year-old Phil Hutton, finding a new boyfriend is tough, especially since he’s still hurting from his ex leaving him for a younger man. Online dating has been a soul-crushing experience for the restaurant owner. Too many meat-haters interested in microbreweries or something called geocaching. His matches in the multiplayer for his favorite video game have been equally sucky too.

One night, he encounters a newbie who is so helpless, Phil can’t help showing him the ropes. It doesn’t take long for Phil to become interested in his enthusiastic teammate. 28-year-old Tyson Falls from Georgia loves working as a server in a rinky pizza joint and sees the best in everything. As Phil’s online dating matches get worse and his in-game matches with Tyson get better, he finds himself wanting to pursue the easygoing chatterbox with a thick, sexy drawl.

But Phil can’t get past the fear that Tyson could possibly want a fossil like him. If his brain doesn’t stop being so damn insecure, it might be game over for his heart.

HEAR YE!! HEAR YE!! ---> GO AND BUY THIS BOOK AND READ THE CRAP OUT OF IT!

Told entirely from Phil's POV, this book had me smiling from ear to ear for damn near the entire time I was reading. I swear I think I highlighted more than half the book!! ♥ ♥

Phil is snarky, yet charming...and naturally I immediately fell in love with him!

Here's my darling Phil after he was stood up by someone he met on an online dating app. Phil called the guy to see if he was still coming, but the asshat simply said he wasn't "feeling it anymore" and hung up the phone.

Fucker. I wish I could rate dates online like people can rate my restaurant on Yelp or Zagat. He'd get a goddamn one-star with a long description of all the ways he can lick my hairy nutsack.

See? Best friend material right there.

Phil and Tyson's evolution is sweet and easy. From online gaming, to texting, to phone calls, to skyping...everything felt natural and believable. Which is really saying something since this is only about 130+ pages!

Tyson's enthusiasm for life is addicting and Phil finds himself looking forward to seeing Tyson's name pop up on his phone. It makes him giddy. It makes him happy. It makes him nervous.

No use in denying it anymore. I have a crush on someone I've never met before. Someone half my age.

It's been a long time since I've been so miserably euphoric.

Phil's used to running his restaurant, hanging out with his diverse and eclectic group of friends, and gaming. That's his life. But Tyson is fun, energetic, and full of life. He's easy to talk to. And easy to develop feelings for. Phil quickly decides that if he wants something more, he can't let his insecurities hold him back.

"You give me all these...Ugh. All these feelings."

"Feelings?"

"Yeah, I can't stop thinking about you. Ever."

"I think about you all the time, too. So much."

This moment is bigger and better than anything I could have imagined. And so tiny too. Mundane. Yet important.

I'm happy. What the hell?

"What now?" I ask.

"I gotta get ready for work. But I can't wait to Skype with you again. Or, you know. Whatever."

"Yeah." I need to go high-five every person in the building or whatever it is overjoyed people do.

My one disappointment was that I wish we got more information about Tyson's relationship with his family. They weren't on speaking terms (it had nothing to do with him being queer) and what info we did get felt like it was just provided to fill a hole. It seems like there may have been more there with how Tyson's roommate made a point to say how protective everyone was of him.

Also, there were times where Tyson's voice sounded very young. Younger than his 28 years. I'm thinking it was his insatiable love of exclamation points while texting. Phil found this very endearing, and I kinda did too....most of the time.

But neither of these quibbles will pop in my head whenever I think of this book. Nor will they hinder me from re-reading it. Which even though I just finished...I'm kinda tempted to already. That's telling you something.

Team Phison is the perfect book if you're looking for a shorter angst-free read that's sweet, charming, and will have you smiling the whole time while reading.

And that epilogue? I melted into a puddle of happy goo.

Go read this book! Seriously...

What do you get when you combine a hardworking, 55 year old crank with a goofy, southern, sweetheart half his age? Team Phison, of course! :D

Phil and Tyson meet gaming online. They team up game after game, night after night. Playing and talking and sharing bits and pieces of their lives. And believe me—Phil hates chit chat while gaming, but somehow Tyson finds a way in. Their friendship begins to grow outside the game as well with texting, skyping, and calling. I loved it! They share, listen, and support each other, but also hold back as well. They don’t just pour out their lives and emotions all at once. Their chemistry and pace felt very natural to me. I could feel the nerves and joy and need. You’ll root for these guys from the get go! Can Tyson’s youthful, southern charm find a home with Phil’s grumpy, loveable ways though? Are they willing to risk it all? Or will it be game over for Phil and Tyson?

I had fun with Tyson and Phil. Phil’s very little patience, no BS, grumpy ways made me laugh. But you can feel his loneliness and insecurity as well. And Tyson…haha….this cutie just snuck right in. Phil didn’t have a chance! Tyson’s honesty and persistence charmed Phil game by game. You can really feel them connecting—from gaming to their mutual restaurant worlds. No matter how hard Phil tried to deny it and fight it—he was falling for Tyson. It was adorable to watch. I adore a blushing grump!!!

“My heart dances. I think. Goddamn, it does something sappy and wonderful, that’s for sure.”

The blushing, melting hearts, risks, and cute gaming references like—“Our friendship has apparently leveled up.”—all added up to a winning read for me!

I’ll be on the lookout for more from Chace Verity for sure.

Una novella may/december encantadora.

This was cute. Two gamers meet while playing a game online and it gradually grows into something more. Not a whole lot of angst, just a short fluff story. There is a 20+ year age gap, which I didn't really notice unless it was pointed out since Phil's POV sounded much younger than his 55 years. I did like that neither guy had a model body, and it was just long enough that I stayed invested.

I like the writing and would read another by this author. It's light and engaging.

But I can't get past the age difference. Phil is 14yrs older than me while his love interest Tyson is 13yrs younger than me; kept thinking that. Almost thirty years between them. Generally I'm all for differences complimenting each other but I've got to be honest I didn't see that here. Tyson brought some life back to tired, ageing, stuck in his ways, vaguely snotty Phil. But I don't get Tyson's attraction to Phil was he looking for a father figure? He seemed happy in his life with good friends.

The differences for me were too great, it might not strike you the same. It bothered me that though Phil had misgivings not one other person in the book questioned it. Tyson's friends are protective but don't warn him against this? That didn't seem realistic. Probably doesn't help that we never see them socialise together.

When things turned sexual (just past the halfway point) it felt really skeevy to me.

The gaming wasn't too much for this non-player but as a pescetarian could have done with less of the Bison burger push. Not sure if the Whisky thing was a way to emphasis the age difference.

While it's readable and the characters are pleasant enough it left me unconvinced. I don't believe in the HEA.

This book landed squarely on my radar recently because I know the best bookish people. It is times like these when I know that I made the right decisions in life.

This was such a cute and sweet read. Have I mentioned that I love books that feature relationships that develop online? No?Well, I do. And if you have recs that fit the bill - online or texting to develop a relationship, I am alllllll ears!

It is a novella, so short, but it is definitely not lacking. Each issue and characterization of each person took just enough time to define the character without making it feel like an info dump, redundant or insufficient. Everything left me feeling satisfied.

In this book, no one is perfect, everyone has flaws and insecurities. Nothing is a given. Every problem is real and fits with their lives, their experience. And it is funny as heck! Phil has a great voice and I really enjoyed reading this book from his point of view.

I, the reader, was all in from the very beginning and I am still smiling.

**2.5 stars** A nicely-written story that didn't work for me because of the extreme age gap between the characters. If that wouldn't be an issue for you, you might like this book -- obviously many people did.

I enjoyed watching Phil's transformation from surly curmudgeon to a man capable of taking joy in life. However, I empathized with all his fears about being too old for Tyson, because I really felt that he was too old for Tyson. (And I say that as someone who fell in love with and married someone 19 years older than myself. But an almost 30-year age gap? I just couldn't go there.) So every time Phil brooded over the state of his appearance, or his energy level, I was right there with him, wallowing in his negativity LOL. I couldn't believe the relationship had a future.

But if age gap appeals to you, you might want to give this a try.

Team Phison is a really cute age-gap romance, between two guys who meet in a multiplayer match of a recently released video game.

I loved Phil and Tyson's gaming sessions. Tyson has just just got the game and Phil is the veteran teaching him how to play.

The author did a great job with the age-gap and handling both of our character's insecurities with being viewed as too old or too young respectively.

I'm so happy there's a sequel because I don't want to say goodbye to Team Phison yet!

So Stinking Sweet. Loved

I'm not really one for novellas but this had an interesting blurb and some good reviews and seems good for my mood.

I was totally right. This might be the sweetest book I've read so far this year and I loved every single moment of it.

Some really sweet dorks fall in love.

Phil is 55, single, and spends his evenings alone playing video games. When a total noob joins his mission, he reluctantly teaches him the basics and they play for the rest of the evening. Phil thinks nothing more of it, but Tyson adds him as a friend and they begin an online friendship.

To start off with, Phil is a bit abrasive and judgmental but I warmed to him quickly enough, and understood the impact his ex had had on his self esteem by leaving him for a much younger man after 20 years together. The fact that this is told from his POV worked well in this case. Though it's fairly obvious to the reader that Tyson is interested, I could understand why Phil didn't see it and needed to be convinced.

Tyson is much younger, only 27/28, and Phil can't believe someone so young and attractive would be interested in him. Tyson is such a darling. So sweet, so open, and just really, really nice. I'm excited to have his POV in the next book, and see some of his struggles.

I loved how unapologetically dorky both Phil and Tyson were. It's so nice to see people owning their weird. I also really appreciated how honest they were with each other, barring a little blip of poor communication which is quickly resolved and duly apologised for. I thought it was a nice touch to have Phil take a little blue pill and just tell Tyson about it, no shame from either of them.

Since they weren't in the same place and all of their interactions in the start of the book are virtual, the rest of the time had to be filled with something, so we get a bit of a mishmash of Phil's work (he owns and manages a restaurant), his friends, and his family. It all felt a little disjointed to me and it's the reason that I'm only rating this 4 stars.

I am definitely going to read the next book though, and would recommend this for anyone looking for a soft, sweet story about dorky gamers.

Pretty positive I loved it more on the re-read. My face hurts from smiling and the rest of me is squishy happy.

This was wonderful! Definitely going on my list of *read when you need to smile and feel all the warm fuzzies*.
There isn't anything I didn't love about this book! I'm not a huge fan of age gaps, especially huge gaps, but this made me believe that it didn't and shouldn't matter. Phil and Tyson are both just the best ever! I love that neither of them are gorgeous, possibly not even that conventionally attractive, but to each other they are beautiful. I love how they met, became friends, and slowly more. Phil's friends, and, yes, I'd love to read about them, are everything you'd want in a friend, and want to be as a friend.
This is definitely going on my Best of list for this year, I know I'll be re-reading this again and again.

I don't usually read funny books but this one was rather good. The MCs were likable and down-to-earth, the humor was honest and refreshing, the array of secondary characters complemented the MCs and made it a wonderful story. There was fair amount of gaming lingo, and it should have bothered me since I am not a gamer, but for whatever reason it made the MCs even more endearing to me. This was enchanting short age gap romance with mild steam and a bit of angst.

Phil is such a character - mature yet a bit insecure with self-deprecating sense of humor and good heart. He has great group of friends he has known for years, his own booming business and his hobbies. What he does not have is a loyal partner and self confidence that went down the toilet when his partner of many years left him for a younger lover. But Fate works in mysterious ways, and the most annoying newbie can unexpectedly can become someone's world.

Tyson despite not having his own POV was easy to read. He is funny, easy-going and self-confident. He sees into the person and only looks at the best them. Life has hurt him, and he is still charming and kind-hearted. But through the story I could see a little bit of vulnerability that he tried to hide. I loved how freely he expressed himself with Phil, how he never hid his emotions. It was like a gift.

I loved how their relationship grew slowly from online, to texts and then meeting in real life. It was so sweet. Tyson is such a positive engaging character, I couldn't help but love his optimistic outlook in life. He made Phil feel invigorated, be the best version of himself, and together they just glowed. When Phil's insecurities got the best of him, I really liked that, when realizing his mistakes, he didn't dither but made it right with Tyson taking responsibility when it was due. Their relationship was honest, real and so genuine. I enjoyed this book immensely.

This story was SUCH A BLAST!

I loved how defined the characters were (given the novella length). Phil and Tyson's backstory and insecurities were established without going into info dump territory. Like, I'm in awe of how much story Verity crammed into such a small space! Especially because the whole story is told from Phil's POV.

The humor was gr8! The way it was woven into the story had me actual!LMAO.

Conflict wise, both characters made mistakes, recognized that they had stepped on it, and made amends in a natural way.

There's a LOT of representation in this story and it's not done gratuitously. There are gay, bisexual, lesbian, and pansexual characters. There are POCs. It feels like real life. LGTBQ+ people will make their own communities/found families and this one was centered around OLDER queers (Phil's 55 and he mentions that the youngest one in his group of friends is 40 years old.)

I thought that the development of the relationship made sense: there wasn't too much pining nor it veered into a sex-o-rama either. Instead, it kept a tight balance between sweetness and dirrrrty times. I LURVED seeing how both Phil and Tyson reacted to each other because none of it felt forced.

FWIW, this is one of those stories in which the less you know about it, the better (because it's SO short.)

It's deffo a fab May/December romance that will make the readers sigh without bringing in what could be creepy undertones due to age differences.

TL;DR: An AWESOMECAKES novella if you're in the mood to read a spicy and fun May/December romance with AMAZING representation. I'm deffo keeping an eye out for this author's future stories. :D!

4.75 out of 5 stars

The world is going to shite. Life as we know it is basically all burning, all the time. My brain screams 24/7.

Which is why TEAM PHISON was exactly the read I needed to take my mind off things for a while, and leave me with a feel-good smile that lasted for days.

Phil Hutton is many things: a cynic, a restaurant owner, a gamer, a firm disbeliever in romantic connections after a bad relationship burn. One thing Phil isn't is over the hill, but good luck convincing him that 55 is the new sexy as hell when he'd rather stay at home and play MMOs than endure another disastrous first date.
I swipe through the six new potential loves-of-my-life and hate them all equally.

Basically Phil is me in 15 goddamned years, and I love him for it.

And I love him for his gruff, sweet, awkward vulnerability, and how it peels back layer by layer the more he falls for his newest in-game teammate, BisonFalls.

BisonFalls is actually twenty-something Tyson Falls; Tyson of the soft Southern accent, of the overly effusive laugh, of the dorky charm. And Tyson is well on his way to being Phil's downfall, when what starts as an in-game partnership soon turns into a long-distance relationship sizzling with enough sweetness, emotional tension, and sexual frustration to melt every fiberoptic cable between Cape Cod and Atlanta. There's a reality to the budding relationship that's so easy to relate to, effortless and honest and full of the little imperfections that make us human rather than flawlessly built sex gods with just the right amount of stubble on our clean-cut, swooping jaws.

It's that realism that makes this book so engaging.

Phil and Tyson feel like real people, right down to what complete and utter dorks they are.

Yes, boys. You.

And trust me, they are dorks. Forget smooth one-liners and clever quips. These two are the cheesiest goofballs, and the things they blurt out would mortify you if you said them out loud.

The thing is, you probably would say them out loud. Because in real life we aren't smooth and snappy. In real life we aren't the practiced facsimiles of cool confidence we're told we need to project.

In real life we're dorks.

And I kinda like love stories about dorks.

Especially dorks who defy conventions the way Phil and Tyson do. TEAM PHISON is an age gap romance, but it's not just the decades that separate the lovers. Phil is a Cape Cod queer, foul-mouthed and down to earth but a touch snobby about his standard of living--and more than a little elitist when it comes to the restaurant he owns and manages. Tyson is a waiter in the kind of Georgia dive where Phil would be afraid to eat off the dishware, and lives a simple life that, without ever overtly confronting it, makes Phil begin to question his own snobbery. With those particular plot elements, you'd expect the story to be predictable.

It's anything but.

What it is, though, is positive, uplifting, affirming, breathless, and often hilarious.
Fucker. I wish I could rate dates online like people can rate my restaurant on Yelp and Zagat. He'd get a goddamn one-star with a long description of all the ways he can lick my hairy nutsack.

Just a few things I loved:

*** The natural banter between Phil and Tyson, right down to the awkward comments and terrible jokes.

*** The believable way they feinted with testing this concept of attraction to someone they'd met online, an experience many of us can relate to.

*** The realistic portrayal of diverse body types as attractive without making a strange, pointed thing of it. Rather than acting as though it was the exception for the softness of Tyson's body or the age of Phil's to be sexy, it was treated almost as an expectation, the intimate scenes described in loving terms that made it clear each admired the other for himself, rather than despite anything. Any criticisms of their bodies came from themselves and their own vulnerabilities, and were quickly met with not just reassurance but genuine, warm admiration and attraction.

*** The fact that Phil, the older man, was often more insecure in both himself and the relationship. It's so believable that with more life experience he'd also be more wary, more weary, not so willing to risk the last tattered fragments of his heart, conditioning teaching him that if it felt too good to be true, it had to be. Phil's doubts just made me want to hug him until he squished. I think he would've squished, anyway. Phil likes to act hard, but he's squishy inside. I just bet.

*** Also the fact that Tyson, despite being younger, was more sexually confident. It's almost a standard pattern that in age gap relationships the older man will be sexually dominant while taking a leading, experience-based role in the relationship, with the younger man sexually submissive and often more insecure, inexperienced. Tyson is confident, bold, often catching Phil off guard with his advances and how certain he is of both himself and how he feels about Phil. It was refreshingly different, and delightfully sweet.
"Phil, look at how hard you're making me. You know you're attractive."

*** How even when Phil acknowledges his own snobbery, he never looks down on Ty for being ordinary, dorky, just a normal person who's special for the very fact that he's so happy in a life others would denigrate. Ty makes Phil see things without the light of judgment. It just is what it is, but Ty has his own way of making it beautiful.

*** How willing both men were to be vulnerable to each other, even after a fight. Their insecurities and hesitations were believable, those moments when it seemed impossible to talk things out, but they always bent, met in the middle, found their way. Their age difference wasn't ignored, but instead talked through to face their fears and overcome their doubts.

*** How casually bisexual Tyson is. It's stated clearly, no edging around it, but it's also not a cause for unnecessary drama.

*** Drunk Tyson. That's all I'm going to say.

Chace Verity has a clean, seamless writing style with a talent for telling a story that moves quickly, effortlessly, without feeling rushed. TEAM PHISON is a fast read not just for the length, but because Verity's writing absorbs you quickly into a strong voice with a wonderful sense of immersion. The author knows exactly when to stop for a moment to indulge in sigh-worthy lines such as "Our mouths meld together into a paradise of silk and satin," without ever slowing the momentum of the story.
It's been a long time since I've been so miserably euphoric.

All in all a highly recommended read, especially if you're looking for something feel-good to remind you of all the little things right in the world.

So why the quarter star knocked off a perfect rating?

This book has a smorgasbord of diversity rep across LGBTQIA+ and various ethnicities, as well as nods to disability rep. It was really great to see; Phil is surrounded by people from all across every rainbow and their intersections, which accurately reflects a reality that too many books whitewash and straightwash out. What made me uncomfortable was how it was pointed out; people of color were basically introduced as "the ________ [person]" even after being assigned a name and a role in the story. The "tall, gangly Black chef." The "dark-haired host," which, when paired with her name--Fatima--is an awkward way of suggesting she has roots in an Arabic-speaking country.

Frankly, I'd be super-uncomfortable knowing a white person I was on a first-name basis with thought of me as "the Blasian writer" in their head as they narrated their way through their day.

Overall it wasn't painful to read. It didn't make me feel bad. It did make me blink and go "oh, okay, I...guess?" because it didn't feel natural to call it out that way, the way someone comfortable with POC in his general environment would. It was more like pointing and saying "Look! A Black man is over there! A potentially Arab or Iranian or Syrian or [insert list of Arabic-speaking countries here] woman is over there!"

POC-spotting. Like train-spotting for the socially aware.

It was handled a little more deftly with queer and disabled folk, but still felt awkward in a way that made me wince a bit, almost out of secondhand embarrassment. There are ways to smoothly blend various representations into a narrative without making it feel unnatural from the POV of someone who would be too familiar with the people around him to consciously call out these traits as part of his inner narrative.

Organic. That's the word I was looking for. It didn't feel organic.

It's a minor nitpick, though, and not an egregious offense. It came from a good place, and I've seen people do far, far worse in trying to handle diversity rep. This was subtle, inoffensive, just a little odd--and I'm likely the only person who'd stumble on it. I'm still happy to see that Phil's environment was portrayed as richly diverse and varied, and that both Phil and Tyson were surrounded by the love and support of chosen family.

Overall, I would recommend TEAM PHISON if you need a story that just makes you happy. A story that's a joy to read, to live every moment in the pages and not want to let go, even when it's over and the story is done.
If I could capture one moment of my life in a bottle, it would be this one.

Yeah, Phil. Me too.

Me too.

This story follows Phil who is a 55-year old restaurant owner who is looking for a new boyfriend. He has been hurt in the past by a boyfriend and isn’t 100% sure how to move on. Phil has been doing some dating, but hasn’t found anyone right. Tyson is a 28-year-old from Georgia who meets Phil while playing a game online. The two develop a friendship by playing the game together and the story unfolds from there.

I enjoyed the author’s comments at the end of the chapters that gave a very personal touch to the story.

The story is told through Phil’s eyes. We get to see the relationship between Phil and Tyson slowly unfold. I enjoyed getting to learn more about Phil and what issues he is dealing with when it comes to his view of relationships. I also enjoyed that we got to learn about the restaurant business from Phil’s eyes. I loved that when out he would be pointing out issues or health violations. I also loved that we got to see Phil’s family during the book; it was interesting to learn about the relationship he had with his sister and her family.

Tyson was such a great character who I just couldn’t help but love hearing about him. I enjoyed getting to know him through Phil’s eyes. He seemed so cute and a very positive personality. I loved how he could turn Phil’s whole view around and how exciting he made Phil.

My one issue with the book would be I wanted a little more out of the story. The book is short in nature and I would have loved to get more of a backstory on Phil and Tyson. They seemed to have a very strong connection in the book and I would have loved them to share more about themselves. I felt connected to the characters, but I wanted a little bit more.

I would suggest this as a nighttime read it was easy to pick up the story and put it down while keeping pace. The story is short, but is easy to follow along with.

Team Phison is simply perfect. Beautifully written, from start to finish, this book is flawless. The characters, the pacing, and all the wonderful details Chace Verity includes to make Phil's world come to life. I expected nothing from this novel, and it delivers everything.

100% delightful.

I've got a ton of other books up next on my tbr, and I've just moved Team Phison Forever up to the top of the list. I know it's Tyson's story, and the author has listed a bunch of triggers, but I'm dying to see how Chace Verity works it all out.

I found this adorable. Phil is an older guy who is trying to date but having bad luck. He’s grumpy and pretentious, especially about food. Tyson is younger, a goofy golden retriever MC. They meet online playing a team FPS game. I could relate a lot to Phil ignoring his in person friends to chat with his new friend online. 😂. Overall I thought this was cute and would recommend.

Funny, steamy, and utterly heartwarming, Team Phison takes m/m fans down the occasionally-bumpy road of age gaps and online relationships. Narrator Phil is a jaded fifty-something, still coiled protectively around his last broken heart and filling his days with first-person shooters and the odd attempt at dating apps. Tyson is the friendly, big-hearted Bulldog whose dark hair and Georgia accent Phil can’t stop thinking about--even if Tyson happens to be about twenty years younger. Flirty banter during game sessions is one thing, and blushing when you get a text from a guy is another, and before Phil knows it he’s given his heart to someone he’s never even met in person.

Reader beware: once you start Team Phison, you won’t want to put it down. Eminently readable, with a wry, cranky internal monologue and plenty of sharp worldbuilding, this novella is a pleasure to finish in one sitting. Chace Verity strikes the perfect balance between a light tone and compelling subject matter--after all, life and love and getting older are topics that all of us use to connect--while delivering a believable build-up of romance. I especially enjoyed Phil’s family and friends; he’s no loner, despite his grumpy exterior and so-called heart of steel. The employees of the restaurant he owns, his twin nieces, and the members of the Break-Up Brunch Party all keep him from delving too deeply into navel-gaze.

I know what you’re thinking--but is it sexy? Yes, dear reader, it is. The natural tension of long-distance crushing is upped by Tyson’s text messages, selfies, and a scene that reminds you why Skype was invented. For readers interested in romance but not sex, there’s plenty of lead-up to each scene to give you time to skip ahead. Steamy but not overly graphic, Phil and Tyson’s love scenes serve to mirror their emotional arc and to reinforce Phil’s development from someone who considers himself too old for love to someone enamored with the possibilities of this new relationship. Overall, Team Phison is a great summer book for gaming fans, m/m readers, and anyone who’s ever labored in the food service profession.

This was so lovely and exactly what I needed.

Team Phison is queer fluff wrapped up in great writing and with an underlying sense of... happiness, for a lack of a better word. It just made me smile extra long and hard.
Tyson is a cute guy in his twenties, loving his job as a server, trying to find his way in an online game and some insecurities about not being smart or mature enough for Phil, the grumpy 55-year-old restaurant owner who just can't seem to find the right guy to date and love.

Unlikely pair? Maybe. But they make it *work* and do it so beautifully, stepping stones and all, I just loved watching them. From conversations to sexy Skype sessions to laying the insecurity cards all on the table.

To me, it was perfect and the epitome of right book at the right time. Loved it and definitely recommending it for basically everyone looking for happy queer fluff feelz.

This was an absolute pleasure to read from start to finish. Team Phison gave me all the cute vibes and strong emotions as the same time and I couldn't have asked for more from this book.

With a May/December relationship, Team Phison really captivated my attention and it kept it throughout the whole book with smart dialogue and cute scenes between the main protagonists. It is also good to note that Phil, the main POV, is a restaurateur and actually knows so much about the kitchen. Plus Tyson works at a pizza place and it's so adorable when they start talking about burgers and food-related stuff.

It has a perfect mix of geeky and food that will make it a great and A+ romance. I am obsessed!

I loved all the realistic touches - the settings, the typically awful online dating meetings, their restaurant jobs, the gaming, etc. I also loved that neither man is super gorgeous - they seem like regular guys.

The age difference? Not my thing at all, but it was handled well.

I love romances where people feel like real people in real settings though (and there are sadly too few of them) so I’m a fan of this despite the age thing.
