Hilarious, lighthearted sexy fun read!!
This is the story of McCoy and Eastlyn. They've known each other for YEARS, with a mutual secret crush. Problem is McCoy is her brother's best friend. Well, when that changes...BOOM!
This slow burn steamy romance was snort laugh funny. The writing was sharp, fresh and on point. The characters were easy to like and relatable. Their banter and their chemistry was delicious. Told in dual POV but separating by section gave the reader front seat view to the character development.
The result was a fantastic read!
4.5 stars!

I’m stumped on how I want to rate this one.

It was a cute, lighthearted, funny, and angsty read but I really disliked Eastlyn. She was super childish and annoying. But when the POV shifted to McCoy halfway through it definitely got better. So, I don’t know - probably somewhere between 2 and 3 stars?

Amazing Funny Read

Where do I begin with this fantastic read. I loved the story and it consumed me. I ran with the emotions of it and I laughed so hard. Gillian Jones seems to have grown with her writing and the storytelling is just brilliant. This book makes you feel good.

The character are absolutely hysterical and although McCoy is a jerk you just can't help but love him and Eastley handles him like she was made to do so. The chemistry is hot from the start, you see the chemistry straight away.

The book is sexy, funny and just makes you get the feels, in all sorts of ways. I really recommend this fantastic book from this growing author. Gillian Jones bravo

Let me start by saying that I was tormented and taunted every time I seen a teaser or post about Gillian's upcoming book Love Won. Needless to say my pre-order was in ages ago & I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning because HELLO, It's a Gillian Jones book. I've been an avid fan of all things she's written since I read her first book My Mind's Eye. I've since read all her books & I'm sure I'll be reading every other book she publishes.

Love Won was such a sweet, romantic, sexy read. Eastlyn has had a major crush on her brother's best friend McCoy since she met him. She doesn't think he really see's her as anything but his best friends little sister. Eastlyn is quite shocked to learn that McCoy will be back in her life day in & day out now that he has become her boss.

This is a dual POV with Eastlyn narrating the first half of the book & McCoy narrating the second half. I actually really enjoyed how this was written. I loved that we got both their POV's & even though it was split in half it really worked & flowed seamlessly.

I loved that Ms. Jones brought a Rom-Com type atmosphere with this book. There were some really LOL moments especially with Eastlyn & her Mom was just the icing on the cake lol!!

This was a much lighter novel than some of her previous books & it's so refreshing to see that she can mix it up and give us such a fun book.

This book was a total "Whirlwind!!!!"

This book is about a second chance at love and man can I tell you all that you'll want this book!!
Gillian Jones is my go to author when I need to get lost and this book was that for me!
Eastlyn has been in love with McCoy since she was twelve and now that he is back McCoy is all she can think about!
I laugh and I cried as she told her story, I felt like I was twelve again.
Gillian Jones you hit this book out of the ballpark!! I can't wait for the second of the book in this series!!!

I had the absolutely privilege of reading this book early and after the first chapter I was hooked. I love a good rom com. I absolutely love Eastlyn and McCoy. Her quirkiness and uniqueness makes her lovable. Her stalking abilities also needs to be applauded and I quietly need to step up my own game. McCoy, how sexy is this guy. This is just a great read with great characters. Kami and Keat, the bestie and the brother are next. So excited to see what's in store for them.

This book has two things that I despise— time flip
Flops and telling part of the story through diary entries. This story utilizes both! Of course this caused me to double skim and speed read. Anyway I did make it to the end which was sweet but boring….I mean how interesting can a romance about two teachers be? Sorry not sorry— I like my MMC’s alpha. For those who like sweet beta MMC’s give it a go. The writing is good. Also the whole Hatfield and Macoy set up without the enemies to lovers trope wasn’t well thought out. If you’re gonna use that I want to see some badass enemies to lovers shiz!

Love Won, the first book in the Winning at Love series, is my favourite type of book - a really good slow burner romance, with some great humour running through the storyline as well. I love the dual POV's being separated into different sections - first up is "She Said" from Eastlyn's POV, followed by Part 2 "He Said", from McCoy's POV.........and then we have "They Said"! The flashbacks to the past provide many moments of hilarity.

Poor Eastlyn! To say she has always liked McCoy is a huge understatement - she has admired him from afar and wanted him for years. YEARS!!! They first meet when McKoy is the new kid in 8th grade, and he becomes fast friends with Eastlyn's brother Keaton - making McKoy a permanent and torturous fixture in Eastlyn's life. Eastlyn is hilarious - she is a walking disaster and her clumsiness throughout the story made me LOL many times. And her mum......she's just a little on the crazy side with her cake for every occasion.

The slow burn romance that built throughout this story had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see when the attraction between Eastlyn and McCoy would finally be too much for them to ignore. It was HOT when they finally sort themselves out - and the side story that was happening at the same time between Keaton (Eastlyn's brother) and Kami (her best friend)........how long til we get that story?? Can;t wait to read that one, it's definitely going to be a hot slow burn romance as well.

To say that I loved this story would be a MAJOR understatement!!!
If you like to laugh and love, YOU will LOVE this story!!! It's a twist on second chances and coming of age for two people that were too stubborn to go after what they wanted when they were younger.
Call it fate or the stars aligning, but the timing seems perfect this time..... ONLY if that darn stubborn streak in both Eastlyn and McCoy would take a step back and allow them to see what is standing right in front of them FINALLY!!!
Gillian Jones is an author that can give us stories that will tear us apart and put us back together and also give us a story that makes you laugh so hard that you have to run to the bathroom before you have a accident because your bladder is going to explode!!!
AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! Secondary characters... LOVED EVERY ONE OF THEM and am looking forward to reading more stories in The Winning at Love series. The camaraderie between all of the characters were phenomenal and I loved that there isn't any unnecessary plot twist to make this story something that it isn't!! Love Won is one of those stories that will make you Laugh, Cry and little and Swoon more than ever!!!!!

Oh my gah! I just got off a one way train. Destination, SWOONSVILLE. My gosh this book is so charming and uplifting! The sweet and sexy romance in Love Won left me with a huge face splitting grin, I loved this!

I loved how this novel was so simple and easy. The split of the story and the flow really helped solidify the characters connection and allow the reader to fully understand the relationship. The flash backs gave me butterflies and I couldn't wait to see how it turned out. The "she said", "he said" parts was genuis! I couldn'tget enough! The attraction to this book comes direct from two characters that are so perfect that I was DESPERATE for them to just BE!

McCoy Graves is just wonderful. He is the PERFECT mix of cocky asshole and swoony, sweet, sexy alpha. I want a McCoy for myself, so, soooo bad!!

Eastlyn, our heroine was brilliant! So sassy and witty and REAL! I adored her.

Love Won is an absolute winner. The whole book was a pleasure to read. It swept me off my feet with its sweet, simple, sexiness. It's not to be missed!

I really love Gillian’s writing style. This is a story about two people who secretly crushed on each other with Eastlyn’s brother being McCoy’s best friend.
This friends to lovers story had me hooked from the first chapter. We learn about their history through Eastlyn’s diary which was an intriguing way to go back to key moments in Eastlyns life that McCoy was a part of. You really get the full impact on how much he influenced how she feels about him and what impact his leaving had on her. Just when Eastlyn is ready to move on and start dating, he returns and becomes her boss and the banter between the two of them was so much fun to read. McCoy came off as a jerk at first but before you know it he has won over your heart.
I recommend reading this book, Gillian Jones is becoming one of my favorite authors.

Gah! What a fab read! By the end of the book i wanted to clutch the kindle to my chest with happiness. A real feel good, make you smile read!

Eastlyn has been in love since the first day she met McCoy Graves. He never gave her any indication that he had feelings for her so she kept it a secret. Well... a well known secret. Her parents knew. Her Brother Keaton, McCoy's best friend knew Her best friend Kami knew. But he never showed her any interest and the day he moved away he broke her heart. She never really got over him. He would always be a part of her life so she tries to keep her stalking to a minimum until one day he's back in town and she didn't know why. Then he becomes her boss.

McCoy stayed away from Eastlyn because she was his best friends little sister. She was his second set of parents daughter. What would they think. Would he lose them? He couldn't risk that. But now enough is enough. He's back to claim her. She's his. Always has been. Now he just needs to claim her. He knows it's not going to be easy. It's time.

I've read every one of this author's books. I love them. One of them is in my top 10 fave books ever. She always writes stories that are going to shatter you in one way or another. They're gonna hit you in the chest like a sledge hammer... now, that being said this was a total change of pace. A totally different style of writing and boy did it shock me! lol Not in a bad way oh no no no no in the best way! It threw me! I spent the better part of this book laughing until i nearly had an accident... i mean you can't help but laugh at a bit of pant sniffing! bahahahaha and well i love me a clumsy heroine it always makes me feel like they're my bestie. I'm sat there laughing my behind off whilst they're there in the book dying of humiliation! lol

Eastlyn will have you in stitches. There are parts of her all us ladies will connect with i mean who hasn't embarrassed themselves in front of their crush at least once! She's so funny she brings a smile to my face just thinking her name.

McCoy... ohhhhh sweet baby jesus is he hot! I cannot blame Eastlyn for going cray cray over him at all. I would too! Yeah he may once or twice been a bit of an a hole... ok maybe more but boy was all forgiven! Sprinkles!!! I need them right now!!! *droooooooollllllllllll I am so taking up Sploshing! Best thing ever!!

I loved how the book was written. Half in Eastlyn, half in McCoy and an end with both. You get both sides still but in a different way and i thought it was great! The plot kept me right there rooting for them both. I was desperate for the best darn HEA you ever read to happen and i was not disappointed.

I'm impatiently now waiting for Keaton and Kami to pull their fingers out of their behind and get it on!

This book gave me lots of laughs and chuckles, it made me smile so big i haven't been able to wipe it off my face all day. Luuurved it!!! Great versatility from this author i can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

This book has everything you could want, it's funny, quirky, hot & will make you swoon!!!
Eastlyn is such a cool chick, her inner monologue is some of the most cleverly written stuff I've read, she's so funny and clumsy. She is such a treat to read!
McCoy (how sexy is that name) is a jerk but jeez you'll love him in the end. He's hot and makes East's life very interesting!
These two together are the perfect storm, they push and pull, they laugh and argue but they are so perfect for each other and they have a great connection. Oh and they are so freaking hot together, like sizzling!
East's parents are hilarious and Kami her bff is a cool chick too. I cannot wait for East's brother Keaton and Kami's book I'm guessing it will be explosive!
Gillian Jones is a great and super talented author, she can write some seriously deep and emotional books and then switch it up with funny and quirky books too. She's the nicest author I know and I feel I can call her a friend too. Her writing evolves constantly and she gets better and better with each book.
You need to read this and believe me you will not regret it!!!

3.5-4 Stars Cute n Funny

ok, so I may be in the minority and as much as this was more a "fun" read.....I felt like I needed more from the storyline. I truly adored McCoy and Eastlyn BUT I felt more and more antsy as the book progressed because they just didn't get together for sooooo long, too long for me. I am not a fan of flashbacks BUT in this case it was cute and really filled in their history over the years.

I am planning to read Kami and Keaton's story for sure BUT hope it progresses along a bit quicker for my tastes.

Overall a very good read, fun, flirty and then FINALLY we get sexy, lol but for me it came so late but oh well that's just me:)

What an amazing book. I usually don't care for dual pov books but not having it is this book really ticked me off, I wanted to know what Coy was thinking so bad . Then it's like Ms. Jones could read ur mind and half way thru the book turned into Coy’s pov, which I loved! This book takes u from high school crush to Real adult love, I am suffering from a major case of book hangover this morn cause once I hit 50% in the book I could not put it down. Coy can be my boss any day especially after the class room scene now that was HOT!

I was so looking forward to reading this book and I couldn't be happier with Eastlyn and McCoy's story! I loved it!

What a great second chance story! It was so much fun to read. I loved how all of these familiar places were worked into the story. And the banter between the characters was great!

I can't wait for the next book!

Ms. Jones has pulled out all the stops and brought out her funny girl. I was caught more than once laughing out loud as I read.

Easton and her quirky habits are funny but clearly she uses them to hide her insecurities. It is hard when she fell in love with the one guy she can't have so young, her brother's best friend. All these year's later and she still hasn't moved on.

McCoy has worked hard to meet his achievements. Moving home to work at her school is a risky move. She is supposed to be off limits.

Can he convince her to give him a chance? Will they move past their fears of lost friendship? How will everyone else react?

This book does not cover the deep subjects of her previous books but Ms. Jones brings us great characters that you will fall in love with and want more of. I found myself rooting for both the main characters and the secondary characters. I found the way she changes point of view interesting and almost make it feel like separate books.

"They say" you will love this book. I can't wait for the next book in the series

This book was so refreshing, from the moment I opened this book until the very end I had as smile on my face!! There were actually laugh out load moments, trust Gillian to write something as awesome and amazing as this!! The one thing I love so much about this book is the characters seem so real, almost like your reading someone biography! I know as a reader I have a tendency to get emotionally caught up in the characters and their lives! I think that's what makes Gilliam such a fantastic story teller! This book will make you laugh and gave my heart a little squeeze because of Eastlyn feelings for Coy!! They've fought their feeling for each other for so long!!! Eastlyn cracks me up !! I think this is the perfect love story!! One I'm honored to have had the chance to read!
Just read I promise you'll love it!!

This books brings laughter joy and full fills that happy read we all want.

Gillys writing in this book makes you laugh out loud on many occasions. Makes you walk nearly into lampposts because you can't put it down and in my case kept reading it whilst walking (not a good idea lol)

I was fortunate to read this as it was being written and can I say it's still great for 6,7,8 time

I'm not gonna give any spoilers away but you have to read it. We all want to be East and we all want a McCoy

wow another great read by Gillian Jones.
Love won is the story of Eastlyn and McCoy who have known each other for years as McCoy is Eastlyns brothers best friend.
it seems everyone in this story knows how the main characters feel about one another, funny thing is Eastlyn and McCoy don't!
The secondary characters in this story play a great and funny role.
to see how Eastlyn and McCoys story plays out give this great story a read.

I really enjoyed Love won and it's also a plus because the author is Gillian Jones who I'm such a huge fan of and when I read the blurb there was a need for me to get this story like right away . We get lovable characters that are relatable , story line that has you hooked , hilarious moments , meddling parents / friends , leaves you waiting for the next couples romance , and some pretty steamy scenes . Liked how the author did half of the book in the heroines Point of view and then the other half was the heroes it's always great to get into the characters heads and to see what they are thinking . McCoy and Eastlyn have known one another for a long time and shared a deep affection to one another there were times that it could have went past the friends barrier but it was the wrong time now that they are older , live , and work together there is no stopping the intense attraction to one another . Eastlyn is super hilarious love the banter she has with her best friend and parents it had me close to tears at times , also love the little journal past chapters it gave me the incite on the emotional journey she went threw love of the hero . McCoy is swoon worthy the little things he would do for the heroine was sweet and dorky at the same time and get this he is such a dirty talker can make the most innocent things naughty . I can't wait for the next Winning at love series so excited to read Keaton (Eastlyn's brother) and Kamis (her best friend) story .

*ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

A semi-enemies to lovers/boss and employee novel is the outline of Love Won. Eastlyn Hatfield has always been in love with her brothers best friend. Someone who always picked on her and teased her never deterred her from loving McCoy Graves.

Her love for him only grew as the years went on. Even after he left to live in another city with his girlfriend, she never stopped loving him. Now, four years later, he is back and he's going to be the new principle at the school she teaches at. He's going to be her new boss.

As the more time they spend together, the more Eastlyn remembers why she loves McCoy. Now that he's older, he's more mature, good-looking and so ready to be hers. He's more flirty with her, he is protective of her and wants to spend his every waking moment with her.

I really like Eastlyn's character. She had a lot of inner dialog, but I liked her personality. I found she was very personable with her feelings and her wants and needs. Both characters had really great chemistry together. Their love for each other only grew as the story went on and it's a true love that you only wish you can have for yourself.

As adults, there's no time like the present. You need to go for what you want because it might not be there waiting for you later on. If you've got that young love, you need to go for it so it can turn into real love.

Love Won is fun and easy to read. It's funny, serious, and super emotional. It's a well-rounded romance novel and I'm super glad I read it. As always, this is a New Adult novel and not suitable for young readers. There is language, adult scenes and sexual content throughout. I highly recommend Love Won and other Gillian Jones books. She is a fantastic writer and needs to be enjoyed by more people.

6 'I don't call it the whirlwind for nothing.' Stars

Gillian Jones is definitely #Winning at Love when it comes to the first installment in her new series! Love Won is comprised of ALL! THE! THINGS! that makes me want to climb inside a book, wrap myself in it's pages, live and breathe the story; to become one with everything there is to it's full capacity... and then some *wink* What I'm trying to say is I'd have this book's babies if it were possible. This book is EVERYTHING I hope and dream to escape into when I dive into a new literary adventure. For me, Love Won was utter perfection from beginning to end, addicting and all consuming, bewitching to the point where it was physically impossible to set the book down until the very last word had been read. Needless to say, I'm highly anticipating and anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

'Why did I have to meet the one person who didn't want me, like I wanted him, when we were kids? What was the point in that? Why would the universe bother presenting me with such a perfect boy-one who so easily stole my breath and made my heart skip with an erratic beat reserved solely for him whenever our eyes would catch- if, in the long run, I wasn't going to get to keep him?'

Hooked from the first page, the tone was set for the story and OMG cue the giddy SQUEE factor! I knew I was in for quite the adventure very early in. Hilarious, swoony AF moments, blasts from the past, Dear May, and characters you want to claim as your own family, friends and lover *wink* THIS BOOK!!! I swear I have permanent heart eyes now. I've been traipsing around in a lusty book nerd fog of a high since I finished Love Won just waiting for the hangover to hit full force.
Yeah, the hangover is going to suck balls.

'He was a jerk from the beginning but, despite his jerkiness, my heart simply ignored the notifications that my brain had tried to send time and time again. We all have that one boy we never really get over, even if we never actually got under him - McCoy Graves was mine.'

Eastlyn has been deeply, madly, head over heels in love with McCoy since the age of 12. Sure, she's known him longer but he's MINE. Mine, mine, mine! I, myself, have never been so smitten and fallen so hard for a hero in all the books I've ever read. I thought I knew book boyfriend love, lust, and obsession. No. I was so wrong, those were just little crushes, a blip on the radar. McCoy is the ultimate, surpassing all others to be my wedded book husband for all time. Seriously, I can't even when it comes to McCoy! Omg here comes the heart eyes again! SQUEEEeeeeeeeeee-eeeeeep! Be still my fluttering and obsessed heart.

'Because to me, he was the Ross to my Rachel, even though to him I was-and always would be-just little Eastlyn Haffield, his best friend's sister.'

Told in dual POV, with Eastlyn narrating the first portion of the book, while McCoy ends the book with smashing success. The delivery was impeccable and a treat to read, my face leaked with how perfect it all was *sigh* The highs, lows, laughs, swoony feels and tender moments... all fueled by the D! Yeah, you know what I'm talkin' about bahaha! This clever, antic filled romantic comedy is sure to please the masses!!

'All I have ever wanted to was to truly be his Sprinkles.'

Gillian Jones is a multifaceted author. I’ve had the honor of reading all the books that she’s written throughout her career and I’ve seen her grow by leaps and bounds. Gillian has the ability to hit on hard topics not many authors would dare to touch on, but then, she can easily switch to a lighthearted Romantic Comedy like she did in Love Won.

Mr. McCoy Graves and Miss. Eastlyn Hatfield… Boy – Oh – Boy.

This book had me from the first sentence – maybe even by the first chapter heading. I laughed more than I’ve laughed in a book in a while. Eastlyn was a hoot and her quirkiness shone from the very beginning. Gillian’s ability at scene description is spot on and because of that, I was able to experience everything that was Eastlyn and McCoy. There are so many spoilers I’d like to explain in detail, but I wouldn’t want to spoil it for anyone. (Cleanup on isle three.)

Gillian also introduced two supporting characters, Kami, Eastlyn’s best friend, and Keaton, Eastlyn’s brother. Their interaction and back and forth banter was just as hot as Eastlyn and Coy’s. I can’t wait to read their book. I know the chemistry between those two will be explosive.

Personally, this is one of my favorite taboos to read about. The elusive brother’s best friend.

Gillian doesn’t just take the reader through the here and now, she takes the reader back and shows them all the reasons why Eastlyn had such a strong love/hate relationship with McCoy. The teasing on McCoy’s end was effortless. Eastlyn made it so easy for him to push her button from the moment they first met. I adored it!

I loved how I was able to read the story from both Eastlyn and McCoy’s POV. Being able to experience a couple’s romance for both sides is always a win for me.

OHHHH…the diary entrees!! You’re going to love the diary entrees. Ms. Jones embraced the typical teenage girl’s mind in every entry. Those might have been my favorite parts of the book.

This is another five-star read for me. I’d read this gem again, and again.

Gillian, my dear, you’re the bee’s knees. Keep ‘em coming, lady.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about Eastlyn obsession with McCoy. And that exactly what it was. Obsession. It didn't lasted for weeks or months. It was since she was 12 year old. And it was bordering on crazy. On some moments with Eastlyn I wasn't sure to be abashed or laugh. Maybe both. And Eastlyn was full of contradiction where Coy was concerned. She would say it's not healthy how she felt about Coy for so long and needs to move on, but the next thing you see she's at his feet worshiping him. That 'moving on' business would be long forgotten. Coy just plainly was in her blood and I wished she would just take her stand. I wanted to say "Just freakn go an tackle the guy or finally let it go!" This limbo was driving me batty.

And Coy... Well, I'm pretty okay with this guy. He was sexy, funny and wicked. But I was irked with him for riling Eastlyn for a while after he comes back in town, instead of making it plainly obvious what he wanted. Yes, Coy enjoyed provoking her, loved her sass and anger after he poks her, and it was fun I'm not disputing it, but he still could continue to do that after being toghter. No need to keep the poor girl to continue guessing and waiting for longer. Like the last 14 years East was hung up on him wasn't long enough waiting for her.

In all I'm not sure if I want to pull my hairs out or what with those two. They both were driving me crazy for taking theirs sweet time to connect. I haven't decided yet if this a good or bad crazy. Lol Though I have to admit that connection between Coy and East was over the charts. It was flowing out from pages. And even though they were driving me batty, I couldn't stop reading until I finished in one go. I guess this is answer. I may had liked this crazy ride. Lol

And now I'm a little worried about 2nd book. That couple seems as bad as Coy and East. I'm wondering what I need to prep myself. Because I do plan to grab that story.

Carla's Four Star Review

Love Won is the first book in the Winning at Love series, and it is McCoy and Eastlyn's story.

What a fun read! Unlike her last book, Tainted by Love (which totally rocked my world), Love Won is light and refreshing. In my opinion, this just demonstrates how versatile Gillian's writing is. You know how some authors just stick to one genre like MC romance or paranormal? Well, that's not Gillian. She is truly one talented author. Heck, she could probably copy the phone book, put her style into it, and I would love it! Okay, enough with that, let's get to the story!

Let me start by saying I freakin' love the name McCoy! It conjures images of a hot, southern cowboy which I love being a Tn. girl and all! This book is told in dual POV's, and Eastlyn narrates the first half of the book. She is quirky and the messes she gets herself in are downright hilarious! I must be honest and admit that I didn't really like McCoy at first, but once I read his part of the story, I really fell hard for him! After all the teen angst and heartache, I had my fingers crossed that these two would end up together. Of course, I cant tell you if they did because Gillian might kill me. What I will say is this is a book that you don't want to miss! There are new things to learn like Kino Laser Tag and sploshing! And Eastlyn's mom? Well, she takes the cake! (pun intended)
I can't wait for Keaton and Kami's story!

Another great book, Gillian Jones!!

Love Won (Winning at Love Bk1) by Gillian Jones
Eastlyn has been in love with her brothers’ best friend, McCoy Graves since she was a child. All through their childhood he has been nothing but an arrogant jerk to her. When he moves away she thinks it will be the opportunity she needs to get over him. At age 26 she is still single, still facebook stalking him and she clearly has not gotten over him. What happens when McCoy moves back to town? Can Eastlyn survive him? This book is told in dual POV. The first half is Eastlyn side of the story and she is a character of note. You will love her with her two left feet and quirky moments. For the first half you will wonder about McCoy but when you are half way through you will see that even McCoy has some hidden secrets. The story has a slow build-up which brings you in and out of time with Eastlyn journal. It allows the character development to really grow on you and you will feel like you are part of the journey. The story is so comical at times that you will have your laugh out moments. Overall I really enjoyed this light hearted romance book.
