TPRS Friendly Language-Learner Literature. Totally Comprehensible for Spanish 1The Spanish Level 1+ novel, La clase de confesiones (part 1) is written almost entirely in the present tense. It is the perfect novel for reviewing school vocabulary, classes, relationships, basic Spanish I structures in the Target Language, and, of course "el amor." Sprinkled with authentic and witty expressions, students will see themselves in the story, as well as their teachers! Carlos hates Spanish class with a passion but finds the will to survive when he lays eyes on Jessica. She is the reason he "tolerates" his boring class. However, his secret crush is compromised when his teacher decides to “shake things up a bit” in class. A simple writing assignment turns out to be a lethal injection to his social life and by extension his chances with Jessica. First, his nosy teacher tries to “set him up with Jessica,” this plan immediately backfires. Then, the unthinkable happens and Carlos is stunned. This turns into one of the most embarrassing moments in his life. But all is not lost. If Carlos plays his cards right, he could have a winning hand. Carlos invites you to come along on this adventure into La clase de confesiones where…"todos tienen una confesión," even the teacher!Unique Word Count 150Although this book is part of a series (2 books), book 1 is a standalone novel...but students would want to read part 2!
I purchased 2 copies of the print book, along with the ebook on teacherspayteachers.com from the author at her store Teaching Spanish Made Easy. They arrived in no time at all!! I love that this book is written by a teacher for her students. This tells me she knows and understands her students needs and interests, which is a huge plus!! I just started reading it with my Spanish 1 students. They love it! I love it! They keep looking back at the cover and guessing who is who, so that tells me they are drawn to the look of the book, too. 👍
It is a cute story about a boy who likes...I mean loves...a girl in his Spanish class. Even though he dislikes Spanish class, Carlos loves Jessica. You remember that feeling, right? La clase de confesiones by A.C. Quintero is fun and entertaining, filled with cognates, present tense verbs, school-related vocabulary (classes, supplies), and best of all love 💗 (because you know kids always want to know how to use vocab dealing with love!). There are footnotes on each of the pages for specific phrases and words that first year learners may not have been exposed to yet, and there is an amazing glossary in the back of the book that is broken up by each of the 5 chapters and then alphabetized within the chapters. It's nice to see kids using the glossary when necessary, rather than Google...thank you!
I highly recommend this book to Spanish teachers of 1st and 2nd year learners. It's an awesome book to add to your FVR library! :-)
A beautiful love story of Jessica and Carlos. There are some cringe parts but none the less it is good. Chapter 6 had me speechless and wanting more. Most definitely will read book two!
