As CEO of Dawson Clothing, Luke Dawson doesn’t have time to babysit his new assistant. Her terrible fashion sense, shy demeanor and weird obsession with peanut butter sandwiches should leave him cold. So, why can’t he stop thinking about her? Why does her fragility and sweetness call so strongly to him? And why the hell does he keep having vivid and hot-as-hell sex dreams about her? It’s normal for a boss to want his assistant on her knees in front of him. Right?
Jane Smith is desperate. Caring for her ailing foster mother has left her broke and starving. Her new job as Luke Dawson’s assistant brings both a pay raise and hope for her dismal situation. Sure, her new boss has a reputation of being demanding and not prone to giving second chances, but a girl can deal with a difficult boss if her only other option is starving to death. It’s just unfortunate that her new boss is also gorgeous and sexier than any man has the right to be. It’s normal for an assistant to want to be on her knees in front of her boss. Right?
Mixing business with pleasure is bound to get messy…
Author's Note: This book contains explicit and steamy scenes that may not be your cup of tea.

This book is exactly why I do my best to write candid reviews and be brutally honest. I am so sorry for wasting four hours of my life over this awful, awful story, that felt stilted and awkward and useless and boring. Flaaaaaaat. I'd not be one jot surprised if I learn that she used a template to draft her book from and then filled it in with a catalogue of everyday life. Needless to say I'm going to be highly skeptical by anything this person ever writes again. I urge writers to read more books and learn how to bring characters to life! If you have made a profession out of writing then please learn your craft. Although plot wise this book was so very much better, I means heads and shoulders above, the other book I read this morning, called Until Trevor. That was terrible. I feel sorry that I've rated both with one star. I feel a distinction should be made between the two, as to which one was the more horrible one. Undeniably His, is by far better than Until Trevor, but still I'd never recommend either one to anyone.
Jane had the personality of a doorknob. Initially she was broke and suffering from malnutrition and couldn't pay electricity bills; and without any sign of character it was just depressing as heck. She also kept biting her bottom lip which the hero found sexy as heck. I find this an annoying trait of heroines. Nobody actually bites their lip do they (unless by accident when you trip)? And i'm not convinced it could ever be sexy..
And the relationship between Jane and Luke started off awkwardly. I don't think they had kissed or given any real sign of being attracted to one another and all of a sudden Luke is saying "I want your hot little mouth on my dick". I think you missed a few steps there, buddy. I mean Jane was keen but I wasn't.
The book did improve slightly along the way but not enough for me.
even though this book had a popular trope, i felt the background story of jane was something that made it new and refreshing. was overall cute and sad and fun and hot.
Fast paced mildly erotic romance with a lot of heat. However, there was just too much angst for me. Jane is an altruistic, honest, hardworking gal who is literally starving in order to take care of someone else. Luke is her honest but clueless boss who is sometimes a jerk. Jane is taken advantage of all the time – can you say doormat? I wanted to like this more since the author appears to be a talented writer who hooked me with the first chapter, but except for the romantic scenes, there was just too much anxiety going on for me. Also, there was no HEA, only a Happily-for-now, which just annoys me.
This is A book that you will not want to put down I love a complex story, great character driven action, and subliminal subtext that really make you think about the bigger picture and your own place in the world. I think this story has all of those components and you should read it, and fall in love these people that Ramona Gray has made up, just like I did. Jane’s life is just like one slap down after another. Her character is tested constantly, her life is difficult, and yet she keeps doing the right thing and hoping for a better life. I can empathize with her and it made her character one of the most compelling ones that this author has ever published, in my opinion. I cried for her and with her, and I felt for her like Amy did when she meets her in the book, that she just needs to catch a freaking break already! Luke, the boss, is the classic guy who isn’t really looking, is kind of a jerk, but is still strongly classified as a good guy, as much as he wants to deny it. The characters are so honestly depicted that you even get where the people in the club are coming from and understand why Jane is so in tune with them as well. Heck, I even loved the secondary characters and can’t wait to read their stories too! This book touches on so many hot buttons, that you are sure to find something that will connect you to the narrative. I don’t know what you are waiting for, you should have already bought this book by now!
At first I was teetering between 2 stars and 3 stars but this had the emotional depth of a puddle. the smut was weird, corny and felt predatory like he wouldn’t stop mentioning how small her parts were like personally I feel like that’s weeeiiiirdd. This felt like it was written by a man and I mean that derogatory. This whole thing just pissed me off and I couldn’t wait for it to be over and the end was acc trash like I’m so mad he basically called her a gold digging whore over a random guys words and she forgave him within one second, their chemistry was uncomfortable it felt more like lust than love w them but whatevs this book was a WASTE of my time. Also not to kink shame but when the other guy called the girl a slave I was like ew?!?!

This was a good read! I think I got it for free during a Stuff Your Kindle event, maybe? Anyway, it had that delightful over-the-top conflict that feels very Harlequin Presents and I am officially always there for. She's soooo poor and he's soooo rich and he's her boss, and she's so hardworking and nice, and he's kind of cranky but underneath it all nice, too, and it felt like I was reading Judith McNaught ca. 1989. Long-suffering heroine and groveling. I'm telling you right now, 80s romance may have been problematic but it was so fun to read, and this has those vibes.
Average book. FMC was quite the pushover and the MMC quite the hothead.
The writing felt lackluster and the chemistry was missing between the leads. No tension, nor did it feel like the characters were actually head over heels for each other.
Character personalities didn't stand out and everyone felt like a cardboard cut out. Bland and uninspiring.
I did like the FMC as sometimes I am in the mood for a wallflower type character, and I was specially looking for a down and out FMC, which is what was delivered.
I absolutely adored Jane!! My heart broke for her and what she went through!! Her love for her foster mother Mama J was inspiring and to be so selfless in taking care of her. I loved how close Luke was to his family especially his sister, it made him an even more likeable character even when he was being a jerk to Jane! This book had everything I love about reading (love, sadness, strong women) Can't wait to read Amy's story!!
A foster child now adult meets a wealthy boss, his sister and his family and it gets untangled and tangled from there. She is also working another job that could be considered a toxic workplace - just not the other staff as they are all heartfelt and trying to get along as she is taking care of her foster mom in a home. Warm story with vivid daydreams that seem to rival the actual sexual chemistry.
This author has become an auto-buy for me and let me tell you, this did not disappoint!!! Loved the story, characters, everything. Can't wait until the next book!
This author has become an auto click for me and this one was no disappointment. The characters really drew me and kept me rooting for them. If you enjoy your novels a little on the naughty side this book is for you.
Wow, I literally could not put this down and practically read it in a day. Jane’s background had me teary eyed. I must be getting old being all soppy like that. It wasn’t the only time I shed tears either. I love this author, she is my go to when I want a quality easy romantic read.
I really enjoyed this slow burn romance. The MC had a lot of personality and I liked that she had more on her mind than just her boss. She had real concerns that fleshed out her character. Overall, a nice romance.
An enjoyable read. I would recommend it for adult readers as there is a lot of intimate moments. Plot and characters were well developed and kept my attention. Has a HEA. I would like to read the next book.
Legitimately hated this. I don't quite know where to start but please never use the phrase "a little slap and tickle" in a romance book. Also hate a "she's so thin she faints and I must feed her" trope.
I wanted to like this one but I just couldn't connect with Jane at all. I found the constant mention of the h's "small breasts" to be overkill and a little annoying. Especially when the H is at a strip club and goes into detail about the dancer's body and her "big, perfect, firm, high-sitting breasts" and then finishes off his thought by saying he felt nothing when he looked at the dancer... lol okay sure. Also, Mama J fostering over 50 kids and only 1 pays to ensure she is kept in a decent nursing home? That's kind of insane.
Fast paced, erotic romance with a lot of heat, that kept me hooked from the 1st chapter. Ramona Gray is becoming one of my favorite authors as she draws the reader in from the very beginning with her mix of sexy romance, comedy and heart breaking moments. Looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
