Lysander is a male half-breed shape-shifter. He shouldn't be able to have heats, but that is exactly what happens. And when his nature causes his own pack to betray him, Lysander is forced to flee the only home he's ever known.
Now on the run, Lysander seeks help in a Bearer shelter, but even there, he is haunted by his past. It all seems hopeless—until Callaghan steps in.
Upon hearing a mysterious pack killer apparently attacked a Bearer shelter, Callaghan wants to help. But things are not what they seem, and instead of finding the crazed werewolf he'd heard so much about, Callaghan meets his mate, a mate who is in dire need of someone to help him.
Lysander knows he can't afford to hope. Callaghan knows he can't force a bond onto someone who has already been through so much.
And yet, as they find themselves growing closer, the fire between them starts to consume all their doubts. Will it be enough, or will the shadows of Lysander's past consume them?
Anya Byrne is first and foremost a longtime fan of erotic romance. Starting to write her own stories was a natural progression of her devotion for the genre. Years after she put pen to paper in that very first book, she is just as enthusiastic and let’s face it, somewhat obsessive about erotic romance and all that it entails. She is steadfast in the belief that there’s nothing quite as hot as an amazing hero—except more amazing heroes engaged in heroic hot lovin’, and has branched out into the field of self-publishing to convince even more readers of this fact. Hopefully, she will succeed :).
Ebook Review📚 Story ♥️♥️♥️💕 Characters ❤️❤️❤️ Overall ♥️♥️♥️💕
Anya Bryne's bearer series are building the world of shifter-human-bearer's beautifully. While initial impressions might make them sound like another MPREG romance, they are developing into a much more deeper stories and characters. This third book is a good step up in regards to that world building and character development 👍.
MC 1 Lysander is a half breed wolf shifter who also turned out to be a male bearer. But, the world he lives in isn't kind to bearers, so when his own pack betrays him he tries to find refuge in a bearer community hospital. But, things go really wrong when someone recognizes him and accuses him as a suspect in the in incident that occurred in his former pack. He gets captured and thrown in jail. When the pack Alpha Montblancß hears about the ruckus in the bearer center he takes Callaghan, Frey's best friend with him. What Callaghan never expected was meeting his mate in Lysander.
Our MC 2 Callaghan has always felt like an outsider even as a shifter. The only person who understands him is his best friend Frey. But, now that Frey has found his own mate and Alpha Montblanc's house has become a bearer-shifter mating refuge, Callaghan dreamed of having his own mate. Meeting Lysander in unusual circumstances brought out the most protective instincts from Callaghan. As soon as he sees Lysander, he starts to be super protective about him and assures him that as his mate he will never let anyone hurt him again. Once he gets to know of Lysander's traumatizing experience he understands that claiming his mate will be done by nurturing a trusting relationship.
This story reveals even more about the bearer-shifter world and how prejudices result in traumatic events. Bearer's have suffered so much and hybrid bearers are facing even more challenges than pure blooded humans because shifters have even less understanding of a bearers existence, especially a male one. You really sympathize with Lysander and why has he become such a broken man, and admire Callaghan for his dedicated support for him. Their chemistry is really strong as a couple and it was lovely to seeing our previous lovely couples Roman/Julian, Benjamin/Mercury and Frey/Mirian's progress towards family hood 😊. Another lovely read, looking forward to Dimitri story.
***I received an free copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, for an honest review.***
Lysander is a human/werewolf hybrid because his mom was human and his dad was werewolf. However something very strange was happening to him when he matured. He is having all the symptoms of a human bearer going through their first heat. Lysander is afraid and distrustful of everyone but his mom. His mom is so worried that she tells her husband, Lysander's stepdad who calls in the pack doctor. The doctor clears the room and tells Lysander that having sex is the only way through his heat and he is ready to help. Lysander wants nothing to do sexually with the doctor and repeatedly tells him no and struggles against him. When the doctor has him pinned down Lysander throws his head back in a head butt. The blow catches the doctor just right and ends up killing him. Lysander is panicked when his parents come back into the room and his stepfather calls him a pack killer. Lysander goes on the run. After almost a year of running and hiding, Lysander's heats are driving him crazy. He is desperate enough to try to go to the shelter for Bearers hoping they have something that will help since he has heats like Bearers do. No one at the shelter believes that he is in heat and someone recognizes him as a pack killer. He is restrained in a room and helpless. Luckily when the pack alpha is called, Callaghan comes with him. Callaghan protects him from everyone else. He actually is listening to Lysander.
Callaghan is an unusual wolf. His wolf is much closer to the surface which makes him wilder and stronger. His alpha dad is afraid that he might go feral. Callaghan is uncomfortable with his pack so he has been traveling. He is visiting his friend Frey who just mated a bearer and they told Callaghan their theories about Bearers being meant for werewolf mates. Then a call comes to the pack house about a pack killer at the Bearer shelter and Callaghan goes along to help out. When he arrives at the shelter, he is shocked to scent his fated mate and the fact that his mate is in heat. He will do everything he can to protect Lysander but first they have to prove that he does suffer from heats and then that he is not a pack killer. Otherwise Callaghan may lose his mate.
Lysander is sick and weak and is attacked in his own home. Now he's on the run and getting weaker. He decides to go to a bearer hospital for help and causes an uproar. He's about ready to just call it done when someone comes to his rescue.
Callaghan goes to the bearer hospital to assist in the commotion caused by the so-called pack killer. What he finds is a sick and weak bearer/shifter being treated horribly. He's also his mate which causes him to react even more strongly to the situation.
Lysander and Callaghan are both different and living on the edge of their packs. That they are mates make it better as they understand what each are going through. There's trouble brewing in the bearer/shifter communities and it's coming for Lysander. Things aren't what they seem and Callaghan isn't about to let anyone hurt his mate. Will they get the answers they need before their world burns down?
Lysander and Callaghan have great chemistry together. I felt for both of them because they are both treated as less than. Lysander is scared and weak but still standing and not about to go down without a fight. Callaghan is right there holding him up and protecting him when needed. I felt like they were the best of mates because they were in similar situations concerning their upbringing and how they were treated. Lysander gets several surprises when some truths come out. The good outweighing the bad. I like how the mystery of the bearers is slowly coming out in this series and I'm excited to see where it's going.
Full Moon Fires by author Anya Byrne is the third book in the Bearer’s series. This book is not standalone. You get to meet again people we know and love from the previous books. I happen to love that; I like to check in on my favorite characters every now and then like this.
This story is great at moving the romance along, but not really the overall story and world-building. I still have a ton of questions.
Warning there is an almost unconsented sex scene. If that topic bothers, you this might be a skip story for you.
Lysander: male, half-breed shifter. He should not be able to have heat, but he does. His stepfather and mother both betray him and now Lysander is on the run. He goes to a bearer shelter for help. Only things do not quite work out that way.
Lysander is scared and scarred. He needs a mate that is patient and kind, and most of all protective of him.
Callaghan: he has always been told he is never going to fit in he is too big, too feral, just not human enough. But when he finds Lysander, they have a bond neither can deny.
Overall great story. Wish it moved the series along more, but I adored the romance between Callaghan and Lysander very much.
Lysander and Callaghan's story was easily my favorite of the series so far. With plenty of suspense, emotional moments, and sweet bonding, their journey captivated me all the way to the end. My heart broke for the rough treatment Lysander experienced before Callaghan stepped in. He had some serious emotional trauma to work through, and for a long time he was convinced he could only be a burden to his mate. I loved how patient Callaghan was with him, staying by his side steadfastly and reminding him that he was amazing and loved no matter what. As the two of them were getting to know each other, there were stirrings of something much bigger going on in the Montblanc pack. Lysander's allies were not what they appeared to be, and I was on edge the whole time Frey was gone for his mysterious investigation. I was blown away by the multiple surprise reveals throughout this book, and some of the reveals about bearers were game-changers for this entire series!
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
Another short book with lots packed in, this series is definitely holding my attention. The previous two couples' stories are built upon, with those couples appearing here, continuing the mysteries surrounding the Bearers, their origin and their mistreatment. Lysander and Callaghan were so sweet together, Lysander weak and malnourished, Callaghan in full on protector mode from the moment he scents his mate from afar. Even when barely conscious, Lysander recognised his mate and felt safe with him from the beginning. Callaghan finally finds somewhere he fits in and that's in his mate's arms. There is something more about each man, different from the rest of their kind and I found this fascinating in the bigger picture of the Bearer and shifter world. I did want to find out more about this seeming anomaly but no real explanation was given. I also had some questions that were unanswered and left me hanging, but maybe there will be explanations in the next book.
It is difficult to be different and to feel like there is really no safe place to go to get help. Lysander is sick and in the midst of dealing with being weakened he is attacked and decides to flee his home in hopes of finding some help. When he gets to a Bearer hospital he is not exactly welcomed there but Callaghan, who came there to help with what was being called danger, finds Lysander who is not a danger. And who happens to be his mate. They both know what it is like to be existing on the edge of the packs/community that they have been living in. And in one another they find an ally to help them navigate the coming rough patches as the mystery is unraveled that is a part of their concerns. No spoilers, but this story introduced some interesting information about the relationships and groups that are inhabiting this series. Good stuff. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lots of unknown unknowns, fun times! Lysander is half human, half wolf. He went into heat which is usually impossible for his kind. No one, expecially Lys understood his symptoms. His Mom had good intentions, but she facilitated a tragedy and Lys hurriedly left town. He was homeless for a year struggling to survive. Then he went to a bearer shelter in Alpha Montblanc's territory, Florenza. Callahan, was visiting from the Rax pack. He stayed to visit with his friend, Frey, who mated to bearer, Roman. Lys, carried a lot of guilt for his actions causing him to leave his home pack. Lysander is not feeling a lot of trust and has to recalibrate what he thought he knew. Will Lysander trust Callahan to mate? What will the Rax pack think of Lysander? Will Lysander ever see his Mom again to forgive her? Nice story. Great characters. Eager for next story. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I'm still really enjoying this series! Callaghan and Lysander are really complex and interesting characters, and I feel like this book really provided me with a great mixture of emotion, intrigue, and growth.
I've been a pretty steady fan of this series because the books are shorter but I always feel like they give me a compelling story and push the overall narrative forward, and this book is no different. There were quite a few things revealed in this book that I wasn't expecting and I feel like they'll have a big impact going forward!
Things I loved: *Lysander and Callaghan's relationship. They're so sweet together, and honestly I adore seeing characters overcome trauma together. *The world <3 It's always growing and building. *The side characters!
Yes, I am addicted to this easy read novella series! They have all been five star novella's for me because sometimes I just want to immerse myself into a fantasy world and read a series that easy and lighter. I appreciate the way each separate romance still builds on the plots and world of the earlier books and includes the other couples heavily! The romance of Lysander and Callaghan is more a slow burn fated mates. Poor Lysander is weak and hurting and Callaghan is understanding and patient with him. I am reading these as arcs of the edited rereleases, and this one my favorite Hurt Comfort of the series!
I loved this book. Callaghan interested me in the previous book it was great to see him finally find his perfect mate. Then we had Lyssander. He was interesting, as a half wolf he wasn't supposed to be a bearer. Lys was escaping a horrible past and attack. Despite accusations he found his perfect mate. The story line was so twisted, and a lot was explained. This book kept me on the edge of my seat till the end. I'm curious to see where this is going next and what's to come. Interesting concept and an engaging ongoing plot. This book was steamy and engaging. I'll certainly return for more.
I am really liking these novellas in this series! Lysander is a 1/2 werewolf shifter who unexpectedly finds himself in a bad situation! Running and confused he finds himself at a bearer hospital! Callaghan is a werewolf shifter living on the edge of society that goes to help with the situation at the hospital when he scents his fated mate, Lysander! So many twists and turns as we uncover some more truths about bearers! Looking forward to more! I received this book from GRR and these are my honest opinions
*3.5 stars* I enjoyed seeing this series continue, finding out more about Callaghan and seeing him meet his mate. Lysander is one of those characters that I like instantly. His story is unique and interesting. I could not connect with this book as much as I did the others, maybe because there were a lot of different things going on and the unfolding and resolution was a bit muddled to me. However, I appreciated some of the twists in the story, and I absolutely loved getting to see how things were progressing with the other Bearers and their mates.
I am really getting into the swing of things reading this Bearers series. Anya Byrne has captured me with her writing, her genre as well as with how she gets all the detail in the short length of her books. It is such a pleasure being able to achieve the enjoyment from a few hours (this took between 2 - 3 hours) and still feeling the high of a story well told. I really hope there will be more in this series and hope that Lysander and Callaghan will be at the start of forming a company/agency that will be able to protect Bearers and their rights.
I loved this book. I've been fascinated with bearers since book one and glad to see more here. Great world building and wonderful characters. My heart really broke for Lysander and what he went through. Callaghan was the perfect match for him. He was patient, understanding, and kind. They also were not very accepted and thus had that in common and really knew what it felt like and could support each other. They were so sweet together. A engaging read that I couldn't put down. I can't wait until the next book. 5 stars.
Anya is so good at what she does, I’ve read so many of her series and I absolutely loved them! This series has been so good from the beginning and I have a feeling it’s just gonna keep getting better! There’s just the right amount of sadness with a whole lot of love! Callaghan & Lysander are so perfect for one another & with the help of their friends they were able to start on their happy ending! I love that Julian & Roman have created a safe place for the bearers! Fated mate stories are one of my favorite kind of stories & I can’t wait for what’s next! 😀❤️😀❤️
I didnt feel like this story was quite the same as the rest. Yes it was to do with Lys and Callaghan becoming mates... but personally I felt like it was overshadowed with the ongoing Bearers issue...
Now knowing about Lys mother and father we can see he was infact a bearer when he was attacked..... but there were some questions I didnt feel were answered and perhaps they will be in the following story.
I certainly enjoy seeing the previous characters as the books grow.
Book three of this series is different than the first 2 books, Lys is a half shifter/human, who is found to be a bearer, the readers are also introduced to a larger overarching storyline. This is a fast paced, action filled, quick and enjoyable read, I am looking forward to what becomes of the task force and their friends in the Montblanc pack. Start at the beginning of the series to get the most from these easy to read books.
This is an easy read, series of short stories, providing a HEA for the couple involved, however leaving the overall story arc incomplete. This one is possibly my favourite so far, traumatised Lysander and super shifter Callaghan have a difficult and dangerous road to their HEA. This book included all of the previous characters and hopefully we’ll continue to follow their lives. This one felt more open ended than the others, so I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes!
I loved the characters of Lysander and Callaghan and the use of the hurt/comfort trope in their meeting. They are both marginalized figures in their packs and Lysander is actively being hunted but they come together to support and protect each other as they stand against those who threaten Lysander. There are plenty of surprises as more and more secrets are revealed. A great mix of suspense and romantic development between the characters.
I think this might be my favorite in the series so far... It might be because there is more action in it, or maybe because they are both paranormals and already knew all about mates so it skipped all the explaining that was in previous books. Whatever the reason, I liked this one the best. Not sure how I feel about that twist in the end, but I guess we will see in the next book in the series...
**I was provided an ARC of this book from the GRR for an honest review**
This is the story of Lysander and Callaghan, the 3rd book in the Bearers series. Please read the books in order. I absolutely loved this one and it is my favourite. There is something different and special about both. I loved the world created, the action, mystery and surprises kept me riveted. Definitely recommended.
I received this book as an Arc and I am happily reviewing it voluntarily.
The opening to book 3 got your attention quickly and really set the pace for the rest of the story. So many twists and turns...some mysteries solved and more adventures await. Lysander and Callaghan get their HEA and I was happy with the outcome...now on to book 4...it's getting good.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This was a little different from the rest of the series. Unique characters, although they all are. Lots of secrets and undermined relationships. I love the imagination of this author to create great characters and give them unique stories. I read a complementary copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
Full Moon Fires is book three in this series but can be read as a standalone. The book is full of suspense, intrigue, betrayal, survival and heat. You name it, it’s got it and I loved every aspect of this PN M/M romance. It gives you all the feels and has you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Would highly recommend.
Letto!!! Intenso e bellissimo.
Per me é ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Fuoco, paura e amore che salva
A good conclusion to the series, or is it? The ending does leave us wondering what next? This is my favourite of the series, quite a bit of angst but we do get our HEA. All of our favourite characters from previous stories are here and we finally start to get some answers.
Very short fast paced shifter romance. It was paced perfectly for this story. Absolutely wish it was longer though. Very much enjoyed reading it. Callaghan and Lysander had a very tough story to tell. Love their ending. Can’t wait for the next book.
This is the third book in this series by Anya Byrne! This is Lysander Callaghan's story and it's a page turner! I've enjoyed this series so far Anya has created a complex story in a complex world! I read an advanced copy of this book and this is my unbiased review!
