This book is not well known. I only found out about it myself from a reddit thread, about readers looking for a humans hunting humans for sport recommendaton. Fortunately I discovered this book, as it was pretty darn good.
Chris is a mild mannered man. He has a family, he has lost weight, and become a bit of a running enthusiast. And he has been chosen, and will be hunted for sport by rich assholes. His family has been taken hostage, if he escapes, they die. If he is killed for a trophy, his family might go free. Not a good choice either way.
But Chris' salvation comes in the hope of Rose. Her family was killed because she escaped them years ago. She has been training ever since, and is able to grab Chris and use him as bait to have her confrontation with the organization who has been doing this in secret. Chris now must lead the hunters on a merry chase while he comes up with a plan to save his family, and Rose takes the fight to them in a free for all in the mountainous wilderness. May the best hunter win.
This book was terrific. Solid characters, pretty gnarly action sequences, lots of attention to detail, and good tension and pacing. Definitely check this one out.
The hunt is on, this time Chris is the target and his family hostages. The hunters however are also being hunted by someone who escaped their clutches previously. Rose lost everything except her life and now she has the chance of vengeance. As Chris runs so does she and so do the hunters who've paid for the sport. Relentless, as twisting as the chase itself and a good read from start to finish.
