Celibate hero for 100 years. What more can I ask for?
Well this would've been good if it didn't had the cliché OW drama. Of course the hero didn't have anything with this OW and hasn't slept with her either but she wants to and causes drama for the hero and heroine. This OW was a friend of his family and she's one of the Cauld Ane so the heroine feels inferior and insecure.

Loved the hero and he was all about the heroine from the moment he sees her, very insta-love, very possessive and protective.
Heroine annoyed me. She was a tad bit weak for me. I'm pretty sure she was a virgin with the way she acted nothing was mentioned if she was but I did skipped a bit soooo maybe she was.?

Samantha Moore, is a researcher, and has been asked to come to Scotland by a company in need of her expertice. When she arrives, she meets her boss, Kade Gunnach, and she feels a pull towards him that she doesn’t understand, but Kade is her mate and destiny. Kade is the king of his people, the Caulde Ane, Kade has been alive for hundreds of years. and has been searching for his mate, but the moment he sees Sam, he knows that he has finally found her. But he knows that he must go slowly with Samantha, and not scare her away. Samantha has never felt a connection to anyone like that which she feels for Kade. She is drawn to him in a way that frightens her but also excites her. She knows that Kade is keeping something from her, something big, but will Samantha be able to accept Kade and the future he offers?

Bound By Blood is the first in the Caulde Ane Series, and upon a recommendation from a blogger friend, I decided to try this author out. Now I recently discovered her, and this book is free on Amazon and B&N…so I would highly you recommend you jump on over there and get your copy…you won’t regret it. This story was phenomenal in every way, and I had the hardest time putting this one down. It was so unique in its own way, and wasn’t what I expected to find, and I just adored the author’s writing style and she just had a creative way of pulling me into it from the first page. I was hooked instantly and it didn’t take me very long to get into it.

The story starts off with Samantha Moore, leaving her only home, and facing her fear of flying. She lands in Scotland, with the help of a stranger. Samantha has never been comfortable or at ease with anyone apart from her best friend and her family. She isn’t known to flirt or to make great conversation with strangers. But when she arrives in Edinburgh, and meets Kade, she feels more at ease with him than anyone she has ever known, but she doesn’t understand her feelings for him. Kade has been alone for many years, and has devoted his time to leading his people and being the kind of leader his father never was. When his sister falls ill, he knows its a problem in the blood, and he knows of one woman that can help. But he never expected that woman would be his mate. Kade slowly begins to court her, but strange things happen to Sam that she doesn’t fully comprehend, due to her connection to Kade. Kade wonders if she will run when she learns the truth about him.

From the first moment I started reading this story, I was fascinated with the way this author was telling this story. I felt captivated by the characters, and the emotions that were constantly being poured from the story were enticing and just made me yearn for more. I just couldn’t get enough of this one, and I had a ride with these two. I loved Kade and Sam together…they were so different from other couples I have seen, and definitely one of my favorite couples I have read in a while. There was such a pizazz about their chemistry and it just reels you into the story even more. You just crave more, there was a feeling of such decadent sensuality to the story, yet it wasn’t heated at all. It isn’t vivid in detail as far as the bedroom scenes go. The focus of the story is on the relatioship and the romance, yet the author had such a talented way of creating a love tale that won me over completely. Even though there isn’t much in the sex scenes at all, it was nice reading a story that I could just relax into, and enjoy, and not feel like I needed to be in the mood for certain scenes. I could just enjoy the romance and sensuality of the story and feel every vivid detail. ASTOUNDING IN EVERY WAY!!

A brilliant young female scientist's first venture from home to take a job in Scotland leads to passion, danger, and the ultimate adventure when she encounters a powerful man full of secrets. Not my first time with this author or the series, but I was delighted to go back for where it all began in book one of the Cauld Ane series.

Bound by Blood is the beginning of a paranormal romance series about a secretive race hiding among the humans around them. Kade Gunnach needs the professional expertise of Samantha Moore who is a blood expert and she wants to take her first steps away from her shyness and fears.

I went into this one after having read two others from later in the series and some of the parallel series with crossover characters so I was already in the know about the mystery surrounding Kade and the others. I wanted to see how things began and get the introduction to the Cauld Ane world. I was given that and enjoyed how the author gave it all an air of mystery from Sam's perspective. I could have wished for more details to the Cauld Ane world, but I guess it could be explained further as the series progresses.

I enjoyed getting to know the cast of characters and thought Kade was a great romantic hero. He's a blend of tender protector, strong leader, passionate lover, and yes, a frustrated man who must figure out how to be in a relationship and figure out women, in particular, Sam.
Now, Sam, I had mixed feelings about. She is described as one way- shy, timid, and needing to flex her wings for the first time- and yet, other than a fear of flying and feeling inferior to other women, she was very different in action, thought, and words from that description. I found her bold to the point of being bossy, nosy, and pushy. She drama'd things up unnecessarily at times. There was a scene with her brother with a screeched and flailing fists 'your dead to me' when she clearly loves him and what she was mad about was not equal to her reaction that was probably the most drastic example, but left me unimpressed. But that said, she was a giving, caring, and compassionate woman that matched with Kade's strength rather well.

Speaking of the pair together, this was a fated mates style romance. I usually give those a bit of latitude on the instalove and I did to a certain extent in this one, but not completely. Sam is into the 'I love you' barely after discovering all Kade's secrets and learning how they are to be together. I guess I needed to see more of a progression between her learning the truth to acceptance to love. Though, once past that, they were a cute couple.

The action and suspense were a good layer with the paranormal element and the romance. The villains are obvious, but not their brand of conspiracy. I enjoyed what transpired and look forward to seeing how the twists in this part of the story tease out.

The side stories were as appealing as the main romance. I can't wait to see what's up with Pepper, Sam's brother, Fi and Duncan, Brodie and Payton, and then several of the others.

I love this author's ability to blend heartwarming, humor, and a sense of family with passion and excitement. This book was no exception. It might have had a few iffy elements, but I still felt it a strong story. For those who want a paranormal that's a little different in a creative way, I'd suggest giving this one and the series a try.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

OH MY GOD, THIS BOOK WAS SO BAD! I'm really trying not to be hypercritical, but I've read some bad books lately. I had high hopes for this, because the premise was alright, but....this one is the worst, so far. To make it easier on my brain, I'll do a list of the things I hated about it.

1. INSTALOVE- I can see how this would work, because of the supernatural aspect and finding the one "mate", but ugh. Take a little time to actually get to know one another.

2. The characters are SO. FUCKING. IMMATURE. Hell, the main male characters are centuries old. Grow up. Which leads me to my next point....

3. The main female character is in her mid-twenties, yet somehow is a world renowned blood Doctor/researcher/something like that. HOW?!? How is that even possible?!?! On top of that, you never actually read much about the blood stuff, or what she's doing with her degree or what makes her so renowned. Literally like 3 scenes are set in her lab, and they are very brief. And she is annoying and immature.

I'm gonna stop there. I'm glad the book was free. This book was so bad. I feel awful for saying it, since this was some author's baby, but I honestly don't know how it got such high ratings on Amazon.

The first book in a pretty lengthy series about immortal Viking clans follows Kade (King) and American Dr. Samantha Moore. This is a fairly unique para-type, and the author does a good job of “world creating”/explaining it all. The Cauld Ane are an ancient race of Iceland/Viking immortals. They each have a true mate that they recognize as soon as the mate turns 25. Kade’s over 600 years old, so he’s been waiting a LONG time.

I received two of these as freebies, and it looks like the series follows a formula. The couple meets, they have an instant connection, but it takes about 60% for the couple to bind/sex. There’s some danger to the h (who resist protection) around 85% which is resolved fairly quickly. The first several books follow brothers, so the secondary characters overlap a lot, which makes up much of the plot. Kade was overprotective, but not overly alpha. Sam was a bit TSTL, but not awful. This has a bit of an evil OW meddling, but she’s not an ex and has never been with the H. Actually, the h is a virgin, and the H has been celibate for 100 years. So, it’s safe.

Bottom Line- I liked it OK, enough to read the other freebie, but I’ll more than likely stop there. It’s just not very paranormal-y for me. I like my para reads to be “other worldly” and not so normal. The immortals are all pretty human, except having a random special power, and being heat sensitive.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.
For me this book has it all. It had me laughing, it had me swooning, it had me frustrated & it had me on the edge of my seat.
Dr. Samantha Moore is a young American woman who has spent her adult years studying Hematology to become the youngest research scientist in the world. Due to spending her formative adult years studying and in the Lab, her ‘people skills’ have not developed.
Samantha is given the opportunity of a lifetime when she accepts a position with the Gunnach Pharmaceuticals. Samantha has never left her Georgia and is now moving a continent away.
Dr. Kade Gunnach is the head man at Gunnach Pharmaceuticals and is looking for a cure for his sisters issues. He is hiring Samantha in an attempt to do what he and his team have not been able to do. Kade wants nothing to do with Samantha and has palmed her off to other to deal with even before she has arrived. That is until he meets her.
I love the relationship between Kade and Samantha. Think along the lines of ‘Me Tazan, you Jane’, you know ‘Me Alpha, you Mate, roar’ HA! He’s over bearing, she takes no ……. Well you can imagine.
The other characters in the book are well developed and although this story is about Kade and Samantha, everyone is well incorporated and prevents the book from becoming repetitive or full of whiny drivel.
An excellent read, well worth the 5 stars.
N.B: This book is not an Erotic romance.

Note to all. Piper Davenport is changing these to Anniversary Editions in her name instead of Tracey Jane Jackson. As of now, 3/15/23, I am working on collecting those new editions and completing this series. They come up Oddly in both Amazon & Goodreads. You never know which author name will show up when you download them. Other oddities that you will notice also.

I liked it but it is S L O W Burn and there are parts that felt disjointed.
Working on getting the whole series but the way they are listed makes it difficult to know what you have. The reason is the Authors Pen Names!
I actually purchased this one twice by mistake because they are listed on Amazon separately under each name. And on GR the same problem exist.
They need to be merged!
And they keep changing the editions on Amazon. Even now there is yet another NEW edition on Amazon and this one is no longer available. Yet it's the Same Damn Book!
Author's 2nd pen name is Piper Davenport!

Anyway, I will definitely be reading #2.

So I liked it, insomuch that it hooked me early and I liked the idea of the story. I have an issue with characters who fall in love instantly. Instant lust yes, love no. There are a couple of scenes that were very poor quality. By that I mean Sam's packing at the castle, which just about had me throwing my Ipad, because honestly what is she freaking five? Also, when Kade looses his sh** at the end. It's stupid, just...stupid. And, (last one I swear) when Kade goes to Iceland. Holy resolution Batman! One paragraph and WHAM! Solved. And, I was heart broken over the lack of smutty details. I don't need a porn version of what happens between them, but I like a little bit more than they basically hugged and went to bed and we're not gonna say what happened there but we all know, wink, wink. There are a couple times where I don't think things were explained enough and others where things were explained way over and beyond any semblance of my caring. Unfortunately there also seemed to be a lot of unneeded plot twists, coupled with the 'I love you' 'NO! I love you!' sickness some authors are effected by.

(RabidReads.com) I luckily found this book recommended by Sophia from Delighted Reader recently. I had never heard of either the series or the author, but I was intrigued after reading her review. It should also be noted that this book was written first as a clean young adult book by the author’s alter ego (also known as her real name),Tracey Jane Jackson. I can safely say that this version is definitely not young adult.

Samantha Moore is a hematologist, a top one in her field, when she is recruited away from all she knows in Savanna Georgia. She ends up in Scotland and begins working at a large pharmaceutical company. Her boss, Kade Gunnach, takes one look at her on her first day and knows she is his mate. She feels something too, but since she’s human, she just chalks it up to lust for the tall, handsome, blonde man. What she doesn’t know is that she is right in the middle of a supernatural clan now and Kade is their leader. And no, this is not a shifter book! They do have the insta-love mate thing, are near immortal, and have powers, but no shifters in sight here.

Samantha is young, barely finished with her doctorate, and at times you do wonder about her maturity level. She has a temper that won’t quit sometimes and a lust for Kaden that won’t quit either. She gets thrown into a totally new life, and not only is she falling in love, but things are happening around her that she doesn’t understand. To make things even more interesting, someone is trying to harm her. A few times, she doesn’t act in the best way, but I cut her some slack because of all the drama that is surrounding her-I put myself in her shoes and thought I would probably be even worse at that age. On Kade’s part, all his protective instincts click in after meeting her, and he does overwhelm her at times. But, he’s also a good man, is very alpha male, and is a mostly respected leader of his people. I found the romance between the two, while pretty much insta-love, to be sweet and eventually steamy.

When I can find a new to me series that features a different sort of supe, I am usually a happy camper. And a good romance is just the cherry on top for me. I enjoyed what world building we get, although I am ready to learn more about this supernatural world, since I felt that the author left a lot of details out. Samantha’s best friend, Pepper, had a fairly big role to play and the next book is about her. So yes, I immediately bought the next book after finishing this one. I am looking forward to reading her story and seeing how she gets more involved in this world. Many other characters are introduced, and the fact that Kade has several unmated siblings just means more paranormal romance to come from this supernatural family.

No spoilers, so I am not telling more about what the characters are or what dangers are faced in this read. This isn’t action packed, but had enough suspense to keep me interested and turning pages. As in, I could barely put the book down. I found it to be fairly well written, and the banter between the main couple was one of the best parts of the book. I do recommend this to adult paranormal romance readers.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

They are the Cauld Ane, the cold ones, the ancient ones, hidden, while moving through the centuries undetected and coexisting with humankind. Bound by Blood is the first book in the Cauld Ane series by an exceptionally creative author, Tracey Jane Jackson. This first book gives the background needed to understand the characters and storyline for this series. Ms. Jackson has woven a tale of a paranormal world that is so well crafted that it seems real, possible. Kade Gunnach is the leader of this race and has finally found his Forever Mate, Samantha Moore.

Sam has been sheltered all her life. She recently completed her doctoral work with a specialty in blood. A large pharmaceutical company has offered her a job in Scotland where she can put her degree to use. This is a huge step for her, so she decides that it is time to leave the nest and spread her wings. What she had not expected was the feelings that she was flooded with and the voice she hears in her mind. When she is introduced to her new boss, an attraction flows between them that is frightening in its intensity. An attraction that cannot be denied by either of them! Is this her Prince Charming, the man she has waited for? Why does it seem so right to be with him?

How do you tell a human woman that she is your forever mate and you are a near-immortal Viking that has lived for almost two thousand years? How do you explain that you have been waiting for her to be born without her running away? If you do convince her, how can you keep her safe until she is bound?

Read this remarkable series and learn more about the Cauld Ane and their search for their forever mates.

I've had this one on my kindle for a long time and finally decided to give it a try. My good friend Kathy Jo loves the series and so I knew I would enjoy it as well.

Dr. Samantha Moore just received a job offer in Scotland and is excited to make a change. When she arrives she realizes she has a strong connection with her handsome new boss, Kade Gunnach. To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of Samantha. She was just an okay heroine for me. I did like Kade. I mean whats not to like? He's hot, filthy rich and a Viking King.

The overall story was fun and kept me interested. I liked the mythology Ms. Jackson created and enjoyed the characters and setting. Fun read.

Content
Romance: Pretty clean. Mild innuendo, closed door intimacy
Language: Mild-Moderate
Violence: Mild
Read Again: Probably, I do look forward to reading the rest of the series

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I've read Piper Davenport's Dogs of Fire books, and knew that this was totally different, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Boy was I in for a surprise!
This story started out like any other romance. Dr Samantha Moore moves to Scotland to work for a pharmaceutical research company owned by the family of the hero, Dr Kade Gunnach. They are attempting to find a cure for a blood disorder that is threatening his family member. She walks into the company on her first day and BAM! Kade falls in love at first sight. There is an undeniable pull between the two.
Sam and Kade are such a beautiful couple! And so amazing together! I love this story! I love how they are together. I love the support from the family members. I love how you don't find out exactly what is going on until Kade reveals everything to Sam. And what a reveal! I would consider this a paranormal romance, and I love that the "paranormal" part is unlike anything else that I've ever read. I also love that it plays a part in the story, but the story is mostly about their love for each other.
And then there are the crazy folks. Someone is trying to cause trouble. Someone is trying to kill someone else. There is just enough drama to keep the story going without being overwhelming.
This story has it all: Insta-love, an exotic location, paranormal elements, familial love as well as betrayal, drama, ex girlfriends, and so much more. This is an amazing beginning to a very interesting series. I can't wait for the next book!

Fast paced - Nice Paranormal romance - Good for younger readers

This was a good 3.5 star read for me. I enjoyed it, even though at times I found myself losing interest. It just had more of a young adult feel to in comparison to what I normally read.

Pros:
* didn’t follow the typical paranormal layout, was creative
*well educated heroine
* A very clean read in comparison to normal reads (this almost would fall into a Christian romance/young adult/paranormal genre)
* offered as a freebie, gotta love considerate writers who offer that

Cons:
* I seemed to get bored and confused due to the abundance of characters. At times, I felt as there were too many details that were irrelevant, especially when it comes to her brother and Piper, but I'm assuming that will play out in future books for this series
* insta-love
* no smut and I never really felt the passion between the characters or why they were even in love with the other and wanted a life together aside from just them "being bonded"
* so many invalid events seemed to occur with little to no resolution - I can understand a few, but there were tons, it was just almost confusing with so many things up in the air that were never addressed , answered or resolved.
*seemed quite juvenile (my 10 year old daughter liked this a lot more than I did)

How much did I pay: it was a freebie
Would I recommend: for free, absolutely
Will I read more in series: no

The book started off perfectly acceptable. It wasn’t anything amazing, but I was liking it well enough. Sadly, thinks went downhill quickly. At around the 45% line, everything just felt like a mess. The main relationship developed far too fast, the whole objective of the book felt like it had been thrown out the window, everyone’s motivations were too confusing to keep track of and overall it just felt like a bit of a shit show. We never got to see Sam actually do anything science-y, the whole reason she was there was to cure Fiona but apparently that wasn’t important enough because Kade always had her skipping work. Not to mention that whole fiasco was just solved after one conversation with their mother. Also Cole just disappeared, what was even the point of his character apart from to cause a little bit of jealousy? His character was also used to expand more of Dalton’s. Honestly, this whole book felt like it was mostly just setting up the others. It gave me lots of unwanted information about characters I don’t, and never will, care about.

Overall, this book was a big miss. It could have easily been decent but the author went and screwed it up. The main relationship was annoying, the side characters and their agendas were annoying, this whole darn thing was annoying!

The author of the book provided me with a free copy of the book in exchange for my honest review after reading. After reading it, I can only say thank you for allowing me the opportunity. I mean WOW! It is a good thing I started this book on a weekend when I had no pressing deadlines to meet. It had me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down! Fantastic characters, wonderful storyline and writing. When I can read a book and the dialogue between the characters pulls me in and makes me forget it's a book, forget that it's fiction that the conversations and events aren't actually happening - that's great writing. I found myself telling a friend about the book today and was talking about the characters as if they were real people. Can I say any more fantastic things about this book, then than I can't wait to read Pepper's story! If the second book is as good as the first, I will have to add Tracey Jackson to the list of my favorite authors to read!

"Paranormal" is not my usual go to read, but when a favorite author offers it - I'm in.

Samantha Moore is nervous but excited to start to start a new career opportunity in Scotland. For this American it will be her first time away from her family and best friend Pepper. Dr. Kade Gunnach is looking for answers and is hoping Dr. Moore can provide them. A member of his family depends on him finding these answers. Neither count on the instant connection when they meet.

I freaking loved this story. Sam is a hilarious and Kade is the perfect alpha male. There are things about Kade and his family that are explained as the story unfolds and best part - it's book one in a series! My favorite part is their "connection" and my favorite scene happens in the airplane. This author always gives us a dash of humor with our suspense. I would highly recommend this story to all romance readers and can't wait to get more.

Free download. Oh my goodness this book was great. I found it hard to put down. Sam is a blood specialist and has been offered a position in Scotland which is almost too good to be true, when she meets Kade for the first time, there's something that happens making them gravitate to the other. The reasons start to manifest and soon Sam finds herself in a world she would never have known existed. This story is paranormal, but I found it magical. The plot is great, lots of back story, and new information which is lovely. The characters are great, leading to other stories. There is angst but a lot of love and romance which is so sweet. Kade and Sam are amazing characters and I found myself immersed in their world. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a beautiful love story with humour, and paranormal elements.

Giggles

I swear if this adult who is supposed to be extremely intelligent and the top researcher in the world giggles (ridiculously) one more time in response to Kade, I’m going to lose it. My eyes were rolling all over the place with this book. The story at its base could be good, but the execution leaves much to be desired. Like it’s the authors first work and written in high school- imagining how adults would behave. Why on earth do the character traits described by the author not match with the character behaviors? The story doesn’t flow well and I had to give up about halfway through for sanity’s sake. This is not how I want to start the new year...

I loved every moment of reading this novel! This is Sam and Kade's story. A young Samantha, a talented doctor who specializes in research travels to Scotland for a dream job. Kade is the business owner who hired her and turns out to be her... I can't give it all away in this review but the ancient history and gifts the characters find they possess made this story even more special for this reader.
"I know, sweetheart. Quiet your heart. I've got you."
"He smiled as the ancient words swirled in his head."
"Kade held her tight as they caught their breath and she closed her eyes unable to focus."
Suspenseful and sexy, this story had everything I love in a novel.

I downloaded as a free e-book and again was surprised by how good it was. Characters have a lot of depth and the story line is well written and keeps you guessing. This is a supernatural romance with a mystery and assassination plot. There are no vampires, werewolves, fairies, ect. so not what I normally read, but I could not put it down..in fact I just downloaded the 2nd book in the series. THat's how good I think it is.....please take the time and try it...I was pulled in after the first paragraph.

A clean romance without a cliffhanger

I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic story. The character development was excellent and the story was well edited. The storyline moves along very nicely and Kade's secret is slowly let out until he is forced to tell Samantha everything. I never got bored with this book! For those that don't like details sex scenes, don't fear, this book has been kept very clean. This is the first book in a series, but it does NOT end with a cliffhanger. Enjoy!

3.5 stars

This is my first book by this author and my second PR book. I was nervous to read PN, but I'm starting to realize I'm just more interested in the love story, love is love, and I don't care if they are part animal or in this case immortal Vikings!

There were some scenes that could have used a little more details or development. But overall I enjoyed this book. It was a easy read and found myself interested in finding out more. I will have to look into the other books in the series because I have a few unanswered questions!

Love this story. Clean, romantic, fun. I thought the main character, Samantha was a bit weak, and her relationship with Kade went so fast without enough foundation, it made Sam seem like she just caved in to whatever Kade wanted, without enough developing between them. It seemed a little Twilight-ish. But, even with that being said, I still loved it, and look forward to more in this series!

The Pearls –

The story was just phenomenal. It's an intense romance with a hot Scottish guy set in Scotland. Hello! What's not to love? The characters are great the good guys are loveable and the antagonists are detestable. Eat your heart out gold/power digging Shannon!
