Christian is the exception to Tiffany’s rule that all males are louses. For years Tiffany has lusted after Christian and of late she can’t help but wonder what it might be like to have a brief fling with him. The opportunity to explore her secret fantasy appears when Christian offers her a job as the IT person for his practice, the V clinic. She knows if he gives her the green light, she’s going to have a romp with her sexy vampire. When the night finally arrives and she and Christian have sex, the experience is so overwhelmingly powerful, Tiffany backpedals and tries to turn down the heat between them. She’s human. He’s a vampire. She can’t afford to fall in love with him.
Christian has other ideas. During their sexual encounter, he discovers Tiffany is his life mate and he vows to change her thinking. His intentions are put on hold when he gets caught up in an angel of death’s vicious plan to chemically terminate V clinic patients’ pregnancies. Tiffany herself falls victim to a lethal dose of arsenic and Christian can only save her by turning her into a vampire. She’s furious when she wakes from her turning and discovers what Christian has done. She wants nothing to do with him ever again, but when she’s kidnapped by this angel of death and used as a guinea pig for deadly experiments she only has Christian to turn to save her life.
A copy was gifted to me by the author through Amazon in exchange for an honest review!
I don't normally read paranormal books, but I made an exception for Forever And A Night: Dark Experiments. And I'm glad I did, because I really, really loved it. It's about a vampire male doctor "Christian" and a human IT girl "Tiffany", who have been close friends for about 12 years. When Tiffany starts working for Christian's Clinic, their relationship starts shifting from friendly to romantic. They grow incredibly close and soon realize that they both love each other, even though one of them doesn't want to act on their feelings. But, that’s not the only obstacle. Apparently, someone is poisoning the Clinic's patients, causing them to either miscarry their children or die themselves. Unfortunately, Tiffany is one of the victims. So, in order for Christian to save her he is forced to turn her, something that may or may not sit well with Tiffany. Christian is being pulled by so many directions, he doesn't know which way to turn. He not only has to deal with finding the mystery person that poisons his patients, but also with an angry and scared Tiffany, who swears she's never going to forgive him.
So, in the rest of the story we get to find out who's behind all the poisoning and murders and of course if Christian and Tiffany manage to work through their issues and admit their feelings to one another.
I loved how the author managed to build up the mystery part of the book. I was constantly on edge, trying to read faster so I'll get to the end of it. Although, I did have an idea as to who was behind of it all. I'm not saying the book was predictable, but it certainly had a hint or two. One thing I personally didn't like all that much was the fact that at some points of the book the dialogues were extended a bit too much.
All in all, I enjoyed it thoroughly and I highly recommend it to someone who's interested in a friends-to-lovers, human-turned-vampire, destined-lovers sort of thing.
Tiffany and Christian have been chasing a romance with one another for 12 years. What stands in their way? Species differences. Tiffany is human and Christian is a vampire. But when Tiffany goes to work for sexy Dr. Christian LaMond at his vampire OB/GYN clinic in NOLA neither can hide their attraction for each other any longer. Their budding romance is barely out of the gates when poor Christian begins to experience multiple, mysterious stillbirths at his V clinic. An angel of death is on the loose somewhere in Christian's world poisoning patients and Tiffany becomes a victim. The only thing Christian can do to save her life is turn her into a vampire but she is anything but grateful when she wakes up to discover what he's done. Can Christian win her trust again and catch this killer before it's too late for their burgeoning love and for the many lives of his innocent patients?

A romance with a paranormal edge, Dark Experiments by Lana Campbell is a mesmerizing read with strong and unusual characters. This is a story with great twists and a strong appeal for fans of vampire tales. Tiffany is wary of guys, but there is one that she desires with every ounce of strength in her: Christian. When Christian offers her the job as the IT specialist in his V clinic, she seizes the opportunity and opens up to explore her fantasies. A steamy moment of sex with him brings her alive in ways she’d never imagined. But then, Christian is a vampire and she can’t stay with him; he could destroy his life. What follows is an intricate plot that will find her becoming a vampire against her will and going through the darkest experiences with the Angel of Death, who kidnaps her. Will Christian be quick enough to rescue her before her annihilation?
Since Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, readers have been fascinated with the concept of romance between vampires and humans, but Lana Campbell’s novel introduces new elements into the genre. Besides the exciting love story, this novel features a gripping conflict and characters who are emotionally strong, well-developed, and psychologically attractive. The plot is wonderfully constructed and it contains surprises that give readers the “wow” effect. Dark Experiments is a finely composed paranormal romance with characters that readers will quickly become fond of. I couldn’t stop reading from the moment I began the first page. It is totally absorbing.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 💋💋 My first by Lana , definitely not my last , I loved this book , what a ride it takes you on , twists and turns galore , never letting you draw breath and relax, totally spellbinding. I would say it’s one of my favourite paranormal books , and I’ve read quite a few . The characters have so much depth as does the wonderful story. You lose yourself in a new world of vampires /human relationships, and are so engrossed in the plot it’s almost real to you , that’s what I need from a book , that’s what leaves this one above others in this genre . Can’t wait to read more in this series . I received an advance copy of this book and chose to submit a review
This book, by far, has become my favorite vampire lore. I love how the author has intertwined vampires into the lives of humans. I am reminded a bit of the tensions we have experienced since the beginning of time. You are different; therefore, I must kill you. In this world, vampires fall in love with, and marry, whomever is destined to be their life mate. It’s so romantic! It doesn’t matter if that person happens to be another vampire or a human. Vampires seem to be more accepting because they know how special the life mate connection is. Love is love. Most humans, however, are not. Sounds a bit like the LGBT issues of today.
Oh, and vampires can have babies!! Vampires can eat regular food!!! I’m still in shock over that.
This story may focus on the crazy mystery unveiling at the clinic, but there were also undertones of redemption. Tiffany was surrounded by those needing the opportunity to be redeemed. People make mistakes. Plain and simple. Extreme emotions often override reason. Anger, fear, and disgust can lead to irrational behavior. If someone feels remorse, if that person begs forgiveness, shouldn’t he be given another chance to atone? The term “2nd chance” exists for a reason. Then there are the people who show not one iota of remorse. There is no chance of rehabilitation. It’s sad, but it’s reality.
By the end of this book, all questions were answered, yet I was left with a feeling of wanting more. I didn’t want to leave this beautifully exciting world. Hours later, I’m still reminiscing.
I was given this eBook free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
If you're looking for another standard racy romance with vampires and a bit of medical drama... wait, is that standard now? Anyway, the concept has tones of Underworld - medical innovations for Vampires, complex relationships between races (human and vamp) - less action than that franchise though. The story is about human girl and vampire grow up knowing all about each other, vampire figures out human is lifemate, human wants nothing to do with vampire. Flirting, sex, medical drama, and kidnapping ensue between MCs. There's also Christianity thrown in.
I have to say I wasn't keen on this book because of the kidnap bit. The whole medical drama bit was good, didn't mind, could have used more of it as it reminded me a bit of Matthew Clairmont from one of my favorite series A Discovery of Witches. A really, tiny, nearly imperceptible bit. I liked the MC for it though.
The flirting and romance part expected, but overall the whole book was overly predictable. Don't take my word for it, it's my life's work to study books and predict what the reader wants or expects and I like to think I'm fairly good at it (being a writer and editor).
In summary, it is a book that delivers what you expect for its genre. It's got a great cover and the writing is well done. If you like this genre, you'll like this one too.

A medical thriller with fangs This is rather an unusual crossover in terms of genre, being a medical thriller along the lines of Robin Cook, but with vampires thrown in.
I can’t stand Robin Cook and medical thrillers in general but I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It’s well written and nicely paced.
I love the vampire world Lana Campbell created. It’s rich, fun and we learn about it as the story unfolds, so as a reader you kind of slide into it.
I liked Tiffany and Christian as well. They’re real people, with their little quirks and irritations. If you’re looking for trope, you won’t find them here!
As I said, medical thrillers aren’t my thing and so I skipped the bits that were devoted to injections, discussions of blood etc. However, I suspect fans of the genre will love those beautifully written details.
As a side comment, I can see Dark Experiments translating very easily into a film or television show. In some ways it reads like a John Grissom book where the author has set it out so it will be a snap to adapt to a shooting script.
If you’re looking for a good read, I’d recommend this. Also, while it’s the second story in a series, it reads brilliantly as a standalone. You need not worry about picking this up and ending with a cliffhanger or other loose ends. Def recommended.
PS I met the author briefly on MeWe and she sent me her novel. I’m reviewing voluntarily.
How many times have you felt you don’t belong somewhere? That becomes more poignant when you feel you don’t belong in your lover’s world. Even more so when it’s a long-time friend you’ve always thought about having a fling with. This is the situation Tiffany finds herself in her relationship with the vampire, Christian.
They are given a chance to explore their love when she gets to work with him. It becomes a bit too intense, but Christian won’t let her back away. However, when they are attacked, there is only one way to save her. Of course, his actions piss her off. She walks away, only to be dragged back into his world via a kidnapping.
The characters are strong and their relationship is complex and believable, despite the paranormal aspects of the world. The mystery aspects are well-planned and while some dialogue got a little ponderous, it was a delightful read.
A vampire/human love story with a little twist and shake! A little bit of romance and some sad parts to the story but I think this book was good. I enjoyed the different look on a vampire story. There are sooo many vampire stories out there that I am glad authors still find ways to keep me surprised and interested. I love all kinds of supernatural worlds and characters so I always want variety in what I read. I am glad to see it in this book as well. * I received this book from the author---this is my honest review*
I love vampire novels, and this was no exception. The story had a gripping plot, and Tiffany and Christian showed great growth throughout the book. I think any woman would be happy to have a man like him by their side. Tiffany has gone through hell and back, multiple times, in this book. The poor woman really had it tough, but she was a strong female lead. Her family were all fantastic and caring people. A lot of support characters were well thought out. Definitely a book to add to my favs.
Romance continues to be the most popular literary genre according to most surveys, with paranormal romance being a prevalent subgenre. Mystery/thriller/suspense tends to come in second. So how could you go wrong with a Paranormal Romance Mystery? With a love affair between Tiffany Peebles, a human, and Dr. Christian La Mond, a vampire, in the midst of attacks by an unknown serial killer, that’s exactly where I’d put Forever and a Night Dark Experiments by Lana Campbell.
The basic romance plot is fairly standard, with boy and girl experiencing a strong romantic attraction, then complications ensue – in this case, the girl feeling she doesn’t fit in the boy’s world and that he deserves better. And the rest of the romance story is them trying to overcome that hurdle. There is additional spice, of course, as we’re talking about a human and a vampire, so we have twice the suggestive scenes, some of which are rather explicit but always done tastefully. Running parallel to this story is a good murder mystery. It’s intense, especially considering the targets of the killer and the author provides a couple of good twists. In fact, for me, this was the best part of the book – it gave the story an edge that kept me turning the pages.
Christian La Mond as the vampire doctor is a bit stereotypic in everything but his species. He’s the ruggedly ‘beautiful,’ transplanted Texan in cowboy boots and pickup truck. Tiffany, on the other hand, is anything but stereotypic. As a self-described computer nerd, one might think quiet and socially inept. She is, in a way, but she also has a temper, is an outdoor sports enthusiast, has a sharp tongue, and is somewhat self-centered and emotion-driven in her initial reactions to situations (later retracting her outbursts). Her maturation is one of the main themes of the story and is quite well done.
There are a few areas where this book could be improved. First, there are some minor editing issues – sentences with missing words, words used incorrectly, and the like. These are, as I said, minor, but have a tendency to pull you out of the make-believe world for a moment to reconcile them. Second, on a more technical level, melding two different genres is always tricky, and there are places where the romance and the suspense in this book seem to clash. Romantic shenanigans in the same setting as a killing spree requires some delicate balancing. There is also some unnecessary repetition and a little tightening of dialog and plot would have helped the pacing.
Overall, if you’re looking for a Paranormal Romance Mystery, with some solid roots in the mystery genre and some interesting character development, Forever and a Night Dark Experiments is worth the read.
This book will keep you on your toes. There is danger, love, evil, and the best of all the determination of two people who were made to be life mates.
Tiffany was always one to be her on person. She never trusted people including men. When an opportunity to be come the IT guru at the V Clinic Tiffany was Leary but knew that Christian, a family friend would do right by her as an employee.
Tiffany is a spirited one, plays hard, tomboy with a little sass. She loved her family but Deep down she was afraid to love, which changed when it came to Christian. One night when Mia couldn’t get a hold of her daughter Tiffany she called Christian to get a hold of her. Little did Christian and Tiffany know that this would open their eyes to their feelings for another.
Christian being a dr and a vampire always wanted a life mate. He had two make Drs who were the best in their field. Their ov/gyn vampire practice was thriving. Now with Tiffany coming on board to getting their practice up in technology things were looking good. Especially, when Christian knew that Tiffany was his life mate.
After Tiffany got onboard, Mom vampire and their babies were dying. No one could figure out why. The mothers were healthy, then they were having miscarriages and dtilkbitns. It proceeded to get worse after Tiffany became the next victim. Although, she was saved by Christian doing the only thing possible to save her, which was to turn her.
With Tiffany turned and slice it seemed things would be ok, but that was farther from the truth. Tiffany was angry, and people were still dying from the killer. Babies and mothers were frightened, but the Drs tried to use the best precautions available.
Until all things blown out of proportion and three vampire mothers and Tiffany disappear. A person was doing experiments to try to change vampires to humans with a serum. Although, what they didn’t realize it was not doing what it was suppose to.
With the three Drs and the family trying to find out where they all were, people died, staff was murdered, and true evil and a feral vampire showed that no one was out of reach of them.
Can Christian save Tiffany? Can Nathan save his family again from the depths of evil? Can they protect the pregnant vampires and find out what if killing them? Will people survive? Can the practice take another blow of evil.
Is fsmily thicker than water? Is love worth it? Can Tiffany be with the man who broke down the walks of pain or will one of them die in the process?
Must read!

Tiffany Peebles has just gotten a job as an IT tech at a small OBGYN vampire clinic. Her dear friend, Christian is one of the doctors there. Their chemistry has been off the charts for many years, and they both know that eventually they will have to figure out how to define their relationship, especially since they will be working closely together. As if their relationship issues were not stressful enough, a series of miscarriages occur at the clinic, and the doctors scramble to figure out what is causing them before more deaths occur...
I accidentally read this one before the first book (Forever and a Night), but it ended up being okay. I was able to follow along well, and I had no problem feeling an investment and a love for the characters.
I really LOVED this book. It's quite long, but it was written well (despite the fact that the editing/proofreading could have been better) so I didn't become fatigued with reading it like: I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened! I was truly fascinated in particular by the addition of the Christian faith into this book. Christian, Tiffany, and her family members talk about God, salvation, prayers, and faith in general throughout the book. This is something totally unique - I have never encountered a vampire book like this. Generally, vampires are treated as abominations in literature. In some places (like Buffy) they are actually demons that have inhabited the bodies of dead people. There were other things in the book also gave a fresh take on the genre - vampires are actually able to have children, they mate for life, and blood bonding between mates unlocks a few notable powers.
This story had romance, mystery, and intrigue! I was really on the edge of my seat as the book progressed. I kept second guessing myself, and I was surprised with how things turned out. The single aspect of this book that I didn't enjoy as much was the sex scenes. I really liked Christian and Tiffany's relationship in general, though!
I have the first book, so I will definitely be reading that one asap. AWESOME job, Lana Campbell! <3
Disclaimer: I received a free digital copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. This has no effect on my opinion, review, or rating.
Dark Experiments is the second book of the Forever and a night series. The great thing about this series is that each book is a stand-alone. I didn’t read any of the other books in the series. The story follows Christian, a vampire doctor, and Tiffany, a human IT girl, who have been best friends for over a decade. Once Tiffany starts working at the clinic, their relationship turns from friends to lovers and they realize their feelings for each other. In the meantime, a mysterious “angel of death” has been poisoning the clinic’s pregnant patients causing them to either miscarry or die and unfortunately Tiffany becomes a victim to this as well. The rest of the story focuses on trying to find out who culprit of all these poisonings is while Christian and Tiffany navigate through their intense and complicated relationship.
One refreshing take I love about this book is the perception of vampires. Usually vampires are seen in a negative way, but in this novel, it’s wonderful to see their human side too. They bear children as well, have life mate partners, and the blood bonding between mates is very emotional and intimate. The characters are well-developed and unique; however, I wasn’t too fond of the main characters’ personalities. The author’s writing style and pace of the story make it an easy and satisfying read. However, the book could improve on the editing which gets in the way of not being able to be fully engrossed in the story. There are also a few parts of the story that could have been edited down due to unnecessary repetition and excessive dialogue. I also felt that the religious talks could have been omitted from the book as it didn’t serve a true purpose.
I typically don’t read paranormal/vampire novels, but I do I have to admit that this was definitely worth picking. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a novel with elements of vampires, romance, and a bit of mystery.
Forever and a Night Dark Experiments by Lana Campbell Dark Experiments is the second paranormal romance in the series, Forever and a Night, and is even more exciting to curl up with on a long evening than Lana's first story, if that’s possible.
Christian has waited for tell-it-how-it-is Tiffany to grow up. Tiffany doesn’t play well with others, a trait she picked up when her father ran off with her school friend. Christian has his own challenge falling in-love with a human, especially one that doesn’t want to turn vampire. It’s not a problem unless she doesn’t turn out to be his life-mate.
They have always had chemistry. This becomes a massive hurdle for Christian when he wants to get close to her. Christian and Tiffany run into problems over their feelings on the very first day she starts working at Christian’s hospital practice.
My favourite part of the story is the originality throughout, especially at the ending. The engaging story-line is quite the page turner and had me reading at all hours.
My least favourite part of the story is near the beginning in the way Tiffany is on romantic self-destruct. She’s really quite nasty to Christian. It’s confusing that he sticks around.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes an involved story-line with a caring relationship at its centre, maintaining the heat rating of RomCon Hot with a little more heat than book one, and high-rise stakes for the vampire-kind.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. It took me a little while to sympathise with Tiffany’s mindset, but then I became totally submerged. Truth is, I can’t wait for the next one Lana . . . need I say more?
I received a free copy of the book for an honest and voluntary review.
What a delightful romance. Vampire doctor Christian La Mond hires Tiffany Peebles to bring his clinic into the new millennium by getting it computerized. Of course sparks fly between the doc and the IT girl. For this reader the question of ‘Will they or won’t they?’ was answered rather quickly as it was never in doubt. But “Will they or won’t they again?” kept me turning the pages.
I really liked that Christian runs a medical practice which caters to pregnant vampires. It adds an original offshoot to the vampire-human romance genre with an added layer of action. The fact that this vampire is looking for a life mate was very romantic. And Tiffany is no shy and retiring nerd. Granted she’s a tech geek, but she drives a red truck with a souped-up engine and isn’t afraid to floor it when warranted. She’s sassy, independent and complicated -- nursing some old wounds from her family and definitely not the vulnerable type.
A sudden suspicious illness leads Christian to go to drastic lengths to save Tiffany’s life. Instead of being happy about it. She’s beyond ticked off and mad enough to end his. Although in hindsight, considering what he did without permission her reaction is understandable. I’d be ticked off too. Fireworks simmer between these two as they work on their differences and work together to try and solve a mystery impacting the health and safety of patients at the V Clinic.
The story unfolds from two POV’s which adds depth and dimension and heightens a reader’s understanding of why the doctor wants to go forward with this relationship and while the IT geek has doubts. Again the push and pull of this couple is intriguing and makes for a riveting read. The clever plot is full of twists and turns that should keep readers guessing.
I really enjoyed Tiffany and her ‘inter-species’ family and hope to see more of their exploits in future books. What a charming novel. Looking forward to the next installment.
I’ve never been a big fan of romance or vampire books, but the blurb convinced me to pick this one up and give it a shot. I laughed quite a lot since it gave the impression it would be a very interesting read, and it did not disappoint!
Tiffany is a great female character, she’s got a strong and interesting personality which I liked from the start. Christian however, seemed a bit creepy in the beginning but turned out alright as the story progressed. I wanted to slap him when he acted like a pushy idiot not getting the hints that Tiffany wanted some space, but his behavior gets a pretty good explanation. The two have great chemistry and are a great match despite a huge age gap and personality differences.
I like how the first part of the book focuses on their relationship and when everything seems to have gotten sorted the second plot kicks in and the book goes from an interesting romance to a dark thriller.
What I didn’t like about the book was the religious parts where talk about God came in, I admit to being biased about this though. It seemed like it was brought up a bit much without really having anything to do with the story. Neither Christian nor Tiffany came across as very religious, but it became almost preachy in places. If both the characters had been presented as strong believers I would have been ok with it. Overall it did not make me enjoy the book less, it was something that stuck out but also the only thing about this book that bothered me. It would have been nice if some plot lines and events got more attention and I got the feeling that the story sometimes moved a bit fast to advance; though it is quite understandable that going into detail about everything would make an incredibly long book.
I haven’t read the first book but never felt like something was missing, Dark Experiments work perfectly well as a standalone novel. If you like vampires and non wimpy characters this book is worth picking up. :)
Tiffany is surrounded by extraordinary people. In fact, she is surrounded by vampires. But, she has no desire to become one herself, that is not to say she isn't attracted to Christian.
Christian is an 'old' family friend, but there is something about him that excites Tiffany. Yes, they flirt, but he doesn't mean anything by it, does he?
When Christian offers Tiffany a job at his V Clinic (hospital for vampires), she packs up her life and takes him up on his offer. But doing so has consequences, that neither Tiffany or Christian could ever have imagined.
Dark Experiments (Forever and a Night #2) by Lana Campbell is a compelling read that kept me turning those pages. I adored the characterisation of Christian, he was very real in the telling, and he seemed to be a genuinely nice guy — for a vampire! Tiffany, however, I did struggle with a little. A lot has happened to her and she hides behind a computer screen, so that she doesn't have to participate in 'real life.' She is socially very awkward, and to find herself working in a hospital setting is rather alien to her. At times, Tiffany came across as a very bitter young woman who is incredibly self-centred — if that was the author's intention, then she pulled it off marvellously. A lot does happen to Tiffany during this book, and I could sympathise with her, but her temper at times was uncontrollable, and it made it very difficult for me to connect with her the way I wanted to.
Putting that aside, I thought the story was very refreshing, and I enjoyed the fast pace and the 'who done it?' mentality of the tale. This book is so much more than another vampire romance. Well worth checking out.
An enjoyable read and I will certainly be looking out for more books by this author.
4.5 - It had mystery, intrigue, romance, edgy, full of surprises, an all round good book. The main character Tiffany draws you into the story with her humanis. I’m making the word up. Lol. Tiffany is us, someone that speaks her mind, isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, is socially awkward, needs to grow up, but as you get to know her, you realize that beneath that brass exterior is someone that will love fiercely, and once trust is given will have a love that we can only dream about. Christian a doctor vampire (don’t see many of these in this genre lol) is Tiffany’s perfect match. He slowly peels back the layers to reveal the true Tiffany beneath that hardened exterior. Christian is a genuinely nice vampire with a strength of character that you always want in your male leads even in their alpha persona.
The story keeps you on your toes with its twists and turns, plots and subplots all wrapped in an engrossing mystery. This story has a different take on vampires in human society that I found interesting. You don’t find many that isn’t all about keeping everything hidden from humans. In this story humans and vampires work together in society rather than in the shadows.
The only downside I truly had was while I liked Tiffany in the end it took more time for me to connect with her than I normally find in my female leads. I’m not a fan of the main character being hard on those around her. I’m not expecting a perfect character but there is a fine line between bitchiness and being a bitch and for me that line was crossed several times which made it hard for me to form that connection with Tiffany early on. All in all a very good read.
As the second book in the Forever in a Night series by Lana Campbell, I was super pleased to see the main character was one of the more difficult ones from book one!
Dark Experiments can most definitely be read as a standalone; however, to really understand where Tiffany is coming from, reading book one would be advised.
There is still the odd meshing of Vampires and Christianity...but I am at the point in this series that I am just going to get over it. Recognizing that it will always be part of Lana's writing but also recognizing that I enjoy her stories too much to really care one way or the other.
There was so much drama and mystery in Dark Experiments and usually I think I am pretty good about figuring things up. Sorry to say not this time. I figured nothing out early and was shocked and surprised at the twists.
I usually have a pretty good system for rating my reads. Each one has to tick off a must have requirement. Romance, check. Drama, check. Superb Characters, check. I really love to cry or feel my emotions be played with...and I just didn't get that with Dark Experiments. But. I am giving Dark Experiments 5 stars anyways and let me tell you why. Tiffany. Difficult, mouthy, moody and one tough as nails chick. She really made this book for me and for that I will over look the fact that I wasn't crying in my Cherrios this time.
Truly hoping this series continues and of course I have my eye on who I'd like the next story to be about. There's gonna be a next story right!?!?
Lamplight Review and Promotion is giving Dark Experiments 5 stars!
This is book 2 in “The Forever and a Night” series and in all honesty this book had me glued to the pages from the first paragraph. Tiffany who is definitely a character all her own is a determined strong oppinionated women who believes she will never get married or have a partner, but has a very cheeky and funny side to her endearing character. Due to things occuring in her childhood she was full of anger she'd been unable to let go of, that is until Christian a vampire dr who was very close to the family began to have an overwhelming effect upon her. This book is very much a Lana Campbell novel, full of action suspense and never ending possibilities that seem to follow this family around, it seems they are destined to attract unusual events no matter where they are. I’m amazed at the intricate details found in the novel with the medical procedures, realistic terms and knowledge, giving the novel an extremely genuine understanding of how and why certain actions that take place within the book, give it a very genuine feel plus an understanding of why those within the clinic are so devastated by what occurs. This truly is beautifully written and I love how Christian beliefs have been incorporated within the storyline while giving the characters the uncanny feeling of being a real, loving caring family, I have only ever seen this in one other writer of Vampire novel’s “Anne Rice” with her 'Lestat' series and if you enjoyed Anne Rice then putting this book down will be an impossibility. Superbly written with a scenario you will not expect, I highly recommend anyone who loves vampire novels to grab this book as soon as possible.
I was asked to review this book by the author and have given a completely honest review.
This book was not what I expected it to be, but I learned my lesson, seriously do not judge a book by its cover. Because that is literally the only thing I didn’t like about this book, the cover. From the blurb I also got that this book was sex packed, which I have to say I was quite excited for, it wasn’t though. But that didn’t matter because it was just so good.
The book is extremely well written, it keeps you hooked. There are no irritating voices, no moany characters and the story line just keeps flowing. Just when you thought it would settle down there is another plot twist.
When I started reading and found a sexual scene so close to the start I was like oh no, there goes all the potential for a build up. Because that’s what I love about erotic and romance books, the build up. But I was wrong, it was a fluke, and the build up and anticipation between Tiffany and Christian continues.
Both characters are such strong characters, and it being written from two points of views really allowed me to understand them and see the different sides. I loved how strong Tiffany appeared but also seeing she had her weaknesses. I loved how hot and ‘macho’ Christopher appeared when really has was a deeply caring and loving person. The combination of the two together was perfect.
Tiffany, the daughter of Mia, and Christian the doctor has been friends for 12 years. He is vampire and she is human. She was just hired to work in his clinic as an IT person to bring them up-to-date. She still is reeling from the devastation her father caused her family. Everything seems to be going well and her and Christian hook up for one night…now nothing is the same! Vampire babies are being stillborn, vampire mothers are becoming sick! No one knows what is going on! Then an attempt on Tiffany’s life leaves Christian with no choice but to change her without her permission! All the characters that endeared themselves to your heart now come together again in this second installment to discover who is behind the fatalities and why! No one is safe~ the story takes an even more sinister turn when some patients and Tiffany turn up missing! Who is behind all of this? Again, why? What will happen to those who were taken? Will Christian be able to save Tiffany? What will become of their relationship? Did Tiffany make a huge mistake ignoring Christian and what he told her? This second book in the series will leave you wondering who is capable of such inhumane actions against others! Lana Campbell did another fantastic job of keeping us in suspense with her unique perspective of weaving Christian principles with the world of the paranormal. I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Dark Experiments picks up sometime after Forever and a Night. And I would rate this story at 3 1/2 stars. Tiffany is going to work for Christian at the V clinic to help the practice get up to date on their computer system. Christian is discovering how deep his feelings go for Tiffany. And how much Tiffany feels about him but she has no desire to become a vampire.
I liked Christian in book one. And I am really glad to see that he is still really close with Mia. He is extremely protective over Tiffany and wants their relationship to keep growing. He has a noble way about him. Almost naive in a way, He is extremely compassionate, perfect for his line of work.
I could understand Tiffany, even when I think she is really hard on the people around her. She has a chip on her shoulder that will take time to figure out. Tiffany also has some scary moments in this book that will change her life forever.
Dark Experiments had a good start and good suspense with a mystery to figure out. The psychopaths in this book were written really well and I loved the family unit that was built around Tiffany. But like Forever and a Night the editing was distracting in places and that made it difficult to lose yourself in the story.
Dark Experiments by Lana Campbell is at once a vampire love story, a murder mystery, and a medical thriller. The love between Christian and Tiffany is complicated by the fact that he’s a vampire and she’s a human, then further complicated by someone trying to kill her with a combination of poisons. When she is on the edge of death, Christian saves her by turning her into a vampire. But she’s furious with the change. Her memory of this difficult time serves her well later on, when she’s trying to talk her way out of a desperate situation. This book has several strengths. One is the detailed descriptions of the medical clinics where most of the action takes place. The second is the nuanced representation of vampires. They’re not all good, or bad. They’re different from each other and have different abilities from humans, but they’re not stereotypical Hollywood figures out of Twilight or Dracula. It also examines a kind of species-based prejudice, in which a bad experience with a member of a different species brands all members of that group as evil. Throughout the book, the characters remain consistent and believable. This is not my usual genre, but I found the book thoroughly enjoyable. And the ending should leave everyone with a satisfied smile.
Dark Experiments by Lana Campbell is the first book I've read from her. My first vampire book that I've read. I absolutely loved this book. Dark, mysterious and romantic. Christian is a vampire and he's an OB Dr for his special clinic. He delivers babies from vampires and humans. He hires Tiffany who is a long time family friend to be the IT at his clinic. Tiffany is human and does not want to turn vampire. After Tiffany got hired things in the clinic go worse. The pregnant mothers were delivering stillborn babies with no explanation as to why. They found out someone was poisoning them. But didn't know how or why. They got Tiffany to and was on her death bed when Christian took it upon himself to turn her into a vampire by using his blood. He finally realized after all these years that Tiffany was his life mate. When Christian brought Tiffany out of her induced coma, she was pissed beyond words. It took her along time to realize why he did it. Then Tiffany was kidnapped by the person who was behind it all. I was in shock when I found out who was doing it. I can't wait to read the next one.
4.5 * for this book. Another wonder by Ms. Campbell. In this book, we get to watch Tiffany and Christian's relationship go through so many ups and downs, it might literally put theme parks out of business. Tiffany is the crass and socially awkward daughter of Mia. Mia, of course, we meet in book one. This book (surprisingly to me) takes place 12 years after book one. I was not expecting such a jump in time. Tiffany is grown up yet not grown up mentally. Which tbh is one of the reasons this is a 4.5 instead of a 5*. I feel Tiffany has been allowed to behave badly publicly and privately for way too long. I get the reasoning a little but overall I dont feel its very realistic. I LOVE when Christian chewed her out for the waiting room incident. It was long over-do. Christian of course is our wonderful country OB from book one. This is definitely a case of opposites attract and all that. I love me some Vampire action, love and all. Cannot wait to start 3. (which I will be doing as soon as I hit submit)
If the title doesn't give it away this is a dark book. It's sexy, it's a thriller, it's Romance, it's intelligent and well written... I could keep going... 😂
I didn't really connect with Tiffany and much as I did with past protagonists but the story in this one is incredibly compelling.
Like all of her work I've read, Lana manages to write books that leave you hungry for more. Tiffany is a very brash, up front, in your face protagonist. You can imagine the hell she'd wreak upon discovering she had been poisoned along with several of her clinics patients except... She had to be turned Vampire to survive. And she didn't get to make that decision.
We're led into a dark maze of deceit, trauma, scientific experiments and questioning of the goodness of humanity (vampires included) as a whole.
Loved this story yet again! TLDR: Boss bitch gets poisoned and then turned to Vampire. Not happy. Thriller too find who dunnit.
Definitely give this series a shot if you're into more New adult fiction. It's sexy, Dark, twisted and just a super addictive read!
This is a sit on the edge of your seat kind of book. Dark Experiments is book 2 in the Forever and a Night Series by Lana Campbell. This mystery and romance is one intense book and I loved every minute of it!! Defiantly a page turner. Though in a series you can read this as a standalone but recommend you read Forever In A Night, book 1. I am new to the PRN books and mostly read historical romances but when I was given this book I though “what the heck I’ll read it”. I am so very happy that I did. Lana has the most wonderful characters that you even love a sarcastic, no nonsense, smart mouth geek and oh what a storyline. It is one of the most creative stories that I have read in a very long time. This story has murders, poisonings, vampire turnings, evil, compassion, family love, mistrust, an anger from the past, abduction, doctors, protection, madness and a love of a best friend. Yes…this has it all and I highly recommend you read this book. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!! KUDOs Lana Campbell!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I usually only read thrillers so taking on a vampire romance represented a giant step outside my literary comfort zone. In this case I decided to put my preconceptions and prejudices to one side. I’m glad I did. As the book begins, there is a simmering undercurrent of sexual tension between the two lead characters, Christian and Tiffany, which is heightened further when they begin working together. I particularly liked Tiffany’s character. She is potty-mouthed, feisty and occasionally unbearable but has a heart of gold beneath the tough exterior. Christian has the charm and patience required to unlock the best elements of her complex personality. There are several plot twists that keep the narrative fresh whilst a decent pace is maintained throughout the book. Sometimes a promising novel can fall at the final hurdle but I was more than satisfied by the ending which wrapped things up neatly. A very accomplished effort.
I'm not normally in for such type of romance stories but I decided to give this book a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice suspense story. I would even classify the book more of a medical thriller/suspense rather than pure romance. I also expected vampires to be some blood-drinking scary creatures attacking humans at full moon but in the story they appeared to be an alternative species to humans, some kind of evolved human beings living in the future. The feelings of Christian and Tiffany are known from the very beginning though she needs some time to come to terms with her feelings for a different species. The story gives a different interesting idea of the meaning of True Love – the one and only, given by God. The main characters are hot and charming, enjoyable to read about. I recommend Dark Experiments by Lana Campbell to everyone who wants to an intriguing medical thriller garnered by a fresh romance.
