The Den #3

His Baby to Defend

Rate this book
Brady is a small town veterinarian living in the closet. Celibacy is a small price to pay for tranquility and a sense of community. That is, until a pair of imposing, alpha men burst into his quiet life.

Wolf shifter Glenn is on a mission to deliver an injured animal to a friend of a friend who lives in some sleepy mountain town. He doesn’t expect his inner animal to howl with recognition the moment he meets Brady. He’s his mate, no question about it. But something strange is going on and Glenn thinks the answers may be found in Parker, the mysterious nomad who recently began renting Brady’s spare room.

Parker’s pack is dying and it is up to him to save the coyote shifters by spying on the town of Riverside and preparing his family for a siege. There is only one problem, he’s falling hard and fast for not just the human veterinarian he is living with but the wolf shifter as well.

Their desire for each other cannot be ignored but as the relationship grows the outside world presses in. While pack duties and familial obligations threaten to tear them apart, can they overcome discrimination and find their happy ending?

Hmm, I think the author did amazing work with her Wolf's Mate series. The Den series had too much involvement of the coyotes, who got too much page space at the expense of having a good romance story. I loved Frannie and Sorell's story. But from Farley's story, the wolves started competing for limelight against the coyotes.

In this book too, there was too much emphasis on the coyote situation, and the remaining pages were peppered with the three MCs having sex.

I am happy that finally the coyotes won't play too major a role. It's time that my lovely wolves got the spotlight only on them. Maybe that "tall, dark and brooding" man will be the hero of the next story?

I really wish the author would go back to writing more on the romance front than the action front. She really excels at that. I am still hooked on the series, though. So I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next one.

4.5 stars for me. Another story in the series that I definitely enjoyed!

This is the first m/m/m threesome in the series, and I loved how natural it felt for Brady, Parker, and Glenn to be together. How when it was just two of them, they knew that it would really be perfect if they were all three together. They were sexy, and I enjoyed the dynamics that all 3 of them brought to the relationship.

I will say, I wish that there had been a bit...more? with Brady, Parker, and Glenn as they began their relationship ship all together. And, of course, when I read mpreg, I'm that type of person that wants the mpreg as a pretty major focus and usually with some completion to the storyline, rather than just feeling as if it was an afterthought, which I almost felt like it was in this one.

There was a big focus on this story with the coyotes...what's going on with them, why they want to take over the pack, and the animosity between them and the wolves. While I appreciate plot and the overall conflict, in this specific story, I felt like it almost took a bit away from the romance and the relationship I want to read about.

Loved getting to see some of the previous couples with the pack party, and I'm always looking forward to what Kiki writes next!

Brady is the veterinarian of Riverside. He moved back home after he had problems in the "real world". Brady secluded himself on his farm because of the issues he had with his first boyfriend in college.

Glenn is a wolf who is a member of Oscar and Felix's pack. Glenn is an Alpha through and through. He meets Brady when he's delivering an injured wolf. The wolf was injured by the coyotes who were trying to take over the town of Riverside for themselves. This happened during Caleb and the cubs time on mountain.

Parker is a coyote who was assigned the task of spying on the town to assets if the coyotes can take over. Parker's pack are struggling to survive because they aren't shifting like coyotes should. Something is halting the shift and making them sick.

Parker meets Brady for the first time and doesn't know what that spark is that he is feeling. Brady also feels something for Parker but his personal issues are stopping him for moving forward. Then in walks Glenn and Brady really doesn't know what to make of his feelings for two men.

Can Brady have feelings for two Alpha shifters? Can Parker come clean about why he's really in Riverside? Will Glenn be able to put his prejudice aside an accept Parker as his mate?

His Baby to defend is a MMM shifter novel. Glenn, Brady and Parker deserve a HEA but all parties involved have a lot to work on to achieve it. And three is a very sexy number.

I received an ARC for my honest review.

Good pig!

Parker really seemed to not know what all the coyotes were doing, but he truly loved his people. Brady and Glenn are both good strong men, and I think they make a perfect trio.

Another great book by Kiki Burrelli. I have really enjoyed this series. I was so glad to see that Brady got his own story. After meeting him in the last book, I longed for him to have someone of his own and he got not one but two!

Brady is a shy, sweet veterinarian that works in a hateful little town. He is used to being alone after being hurt badly by someone who claimed to love him. Your heart shatters after hearing his story and you can't help but root for him to find someone who will not hurt him or be so hateful.

I love his character so much. His love for animals makes him so lovable because he cares so much for them. He feels like they are all he has. He has this quiet vulnerability about him that makes you want to take care of him. Even though he can take care of himself. He has a beautiful soul that just wants to be loved. So I'm excited when he meets Parker and then Glenn.

Parker knew there was something about Brady from the moment he met him. But coyotes don't usually mate so he was very confused. Parker you feel bad for as well. He was sent to spy on Brady for his pack’s ill gain and he doesn't know what to do. He wants good for his pack because their numbers are deteriorating and they are sick, but he is having a hard time understanding why his pack is being so cruel. So Parker is in turmoil. And it is hard to watch because you want to solve his problems for him. Parker is also a sweet soul. He just wants what is best for everyone. He wants people healthy and happy. He already wants his happiness with Brady when along comes Glenn and BAM!

Glenn knows the minute he smells Brady that that is his mate. But as he smells Parker he loves that smell as well, but surely he couldn't have two? Grady is used to having an easy life. He grew up accepted and in a place where is was safer. So to him taking both as his mate is nothing for him. He just wants to go for it. But he has to learn that there are things that happen in life that cause you to need to be patient. And patience he has to learn. Glenn has that go get em personality that you love. He isn't afraid to step into the unknown.

When these three get together I swear they set off fire alarms, smoke detectors and anything else you can think of. But not only is it hot, but it's full of passion for each other. Glenn usually takes over in the bedroom and he makes sure that Parker and Brady are loved and cared for. He makes sure they get all they need. And I love that about Glenn.

Again, I recommend this series and this book. It's a fun read. Full of laughter, tears, angst and love. I hope you enjoy them! Happy reading!

I finished it, but really couldn't get into it. Story held well enough as a standalone, but I might have enjoyed it better had I read the others, although the writer's style didn't impress me, so I might not even have made it this far.

Mostly I read it for the MMM and Mpreg, the later of which was basically nil, so why is this story titled thus? Go figure.

Eh...... Brady turned into a chick with a dick. The "relationship" happens too abruptly, IMO and the title is meaningless (if you're a person who considers it before purchasing).

I liked this book more for the continuation of the overall story, than I did for Parker, Glenn, and Brady. Many of the ménage scenes actually felt a bit awkward to me, and I often got the impression that there was always one man left out of things - or pushed to the side while the other two were going at it.

I'm glad that the coyote's proved to not be entirely bad, and that everyone is going to be able to settle peacefully. The one thing that I didn't understand is how Parker was kept in the dark about his pack politics and policies for so long, being the heir apparent. It seemed to me that he should have known about the harming of the kids, about Foster as their moonshine supplier, and about so many other things if he seriously wanted to be the heir and really cared about his pack. Instead, he seemed to have been an outsider who didn't ask questions and was willfully blind to the problems of the people around him - not really a great endorsement for a leader. It's not really any wonder why his cousins didn't respect him.

The best that I can say about Parker is that I believed that he sincerely cared about taking care of his pack, but was just clueless how that could be done. Brady was a bit of a blank slate throughout the book. He didn't really get much of any character growth, or development, though he was consistently likable. Glenn was, for me, the most compelling of the three. He didn't have a tragic backstory and had never had to face much hardship. So when he was faced with a pack that didn't rejoice and instantly accept that he had two mates, and that one was a coyote, his reactions truly showed his character.

While the relationship between the three of them didn't always flow, I did like the story as a whole.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

What a great book. I’m glad that Brady found his happily ever after in Glenn and Parker. I loved the connection between all of them and it was really hot. I loved that even though Parker lied to both Brady and Glenn and that Glenn overheard his conversation between him and his uncle who helped attack Glenn. When Parker spotted Glenn and was about to talk Glenn punched him and knocked him out and brought him back home and with the help of Brady they tied him up so they could get him to talk. They both felt extremely bad for hurting their mate even if he wasn’t being truthful, they still listened to what he had to say with rational minds. I loved that when they went to the Den to get some space from the good side of Parker’s family and basically everyone tried to turn on Parker because he was a coyote, both Brady and Glenn fought for his honour but they wouldn’t listen so every cold shoulder Parker received Glenn found it extremely hard, everything worked out in the end and Parker got to show Glenn’s pack that he wasn’t against them and that not all coyotes are bad. It probably helped when he saved Felix from eating a extremely poisonous mushroom as well as possibly bad vodka that could do the pack and the Den’s customers harm. I’m looking forward to finding out who the mysterious guy was that congratulated Brady, Parker and Glenn as Brady asked Glenn if Pippen hired a new kitchen hand as he’d never seen the guy before but thought that since he hasn’t had a chance to meet everyone yet that its pretty normal not to remember everyone. Also I’m hoping we work out if the suppliers messed up with sending the poisonous mushroom or if it was a deliberate attack. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

I really like this series but the further I get into it the more I realize I probably should have read the Wolf's Mate series first. If only because many of those characters show up here and I'm not familiar enough with them.

I enjoyed Oscar and Farley's story and really loved Caleb and Asher's so I was excited to read about Brady finding his two mates in Glenn and Parker. This book jumps right into the fray with poor Brady having to fend off that slimy Foster. Ewww - that guy made my skin crawl and made me really angry.

Brady was adorable. He's such a good guy but has hidden his true self away from everyone except his mother. He's content to just take care of the town's animals. Until his mates come to town.

I loved that Brady was human, Glenn was wolf and Parker was coyote. With Glenn's anger against the coyotes, it made for an interesting mating. Especially when Glenn went searching for Parker in the woods. lol

3☆

I received a copy from the author after this went live so my review is on the copy I received. I did however read both. I'll start by saying I enjoyed the first book of the series with Oscar and Farley. I think it's bc I knew them from the other series. I say that to make the point, we didn't really get to know the characters in this book.

We have Glenn (wolf shifter) and Brady (human) who we met in book two and are mates. Then there's Parker (coyote shifter) who is their missing piece. I wanted to know more about Brady and what made him a recluse. I will say the scenes between them were sexy, but I wanted more. It honestly felt rushed and for that I was disappointed. The underlying message for me was not judging a book by it's cover. While we see the coyotes as the enemy in book two not all is as it appears.

a trio of mates, trials, tribulations, trust will prevail

This is a mmm mpreg gritty modern romance, the third book in “the Den” series which should be read in order after the “Wolf’s mate” series as they are interconnected. This book follows Brady who we meet in book 2, he’s a closeted Veterinarian human. He meets his duo of mates on the same day as his world starts to fall apart! I like Brady’s reasoning and wish for a slow roll of expectations but it hurts my heart all that these three have endured. It has the grittiness of the previous books and series but there’s a gentle way in this story as well. Great world-building and character development

The third book in The Den series, His Baby to Defend was quite good. I was captivated by Brady, who is a very sweet veterinarian just trying to eek out a living who is also hiding his sexuality. Enter his mates, Glenn and Parker who are wolf and coyote shifters. The plot is well done and very interesting. I would have preferred to see more of the pregnancy and life as a family with children. Glenn and Parker were very exuberant about having a family and it would have been awesome to see that play out fully.

Le sigh.....

Okay I lurve this series, so it may seem totally biased, but I don't care😝

I just big red heart Brady, and was super excited he got his happy ending. Without spoilers.. this was really totally a feel good story. It flowed well and the characters were all believable. I really like that the personality that was seen from each matched how they were portrayed in previous books.

Very well done!

I am now not so patiently waiting for the next one. Lol

Fun

This was a great addition to the series wrapping up lose ends from other books and giving us 3 sexy males. I was a little disappointed that in this series the mpeg portion is just tacked on to the ending whereas in the 1st series it played center stage. That said I still really enjoyed the story and loved the characters. The author draws in into the story and has you desperate for the HEA.

Another wonderful story!!

I admit that I might be slightly biased because I love MMM books but this was another wonderful story in a wonderful series. My only complaint is that I am starting to get people confused - like who is Archer? Had we met Glenn before? - but that could just be the early onset of senility. Haha. I loved watching the three of them battle insecurities, betrayal and prejudice to give into fate. Can't wait for the next one!!!

Sleeping with the enemy: threeway menage shifter heat

While this story didn’t work quite as well as some of the other books in this series/settings, there were some interesting aspects of threeway fated mates triangle, particuarly including a partner from the enemy pack of coyote shifters. I didn’t find the story, relationship chemistry, or character turmoil to be overly compelling (it was interesting, fine I guess). Some of the heat, however, got a bit more sizzling than I remember from previous books in the series (especially if having a little loving control and punishment introduced is of interest).

I hated it

I took a break from this series because i was really getting annoyed with the characters getting controlled by sex. This book was the worst of all.

I mean I personally wouldn't have forgiven Parker or any or the cayotes because they were evil. Even Parker aunt. I'm so mad that this book was written like this because I feel like this could've been a really great story but honestly it sucked.

Also Radius was the only good character in my opinion

I am so happy to have Brady and Glenn's story. The addition of Parker not only turned up the heat but also amped up the story. The coyote situation was needing to be explained and played out. No spoilers though. You have to read to find out and this is one you will most want to. Now to begin the wait for the next one. And who is the mysterious shifter at The Den?

Another great one

Every book in this series is great but this was the best so far. I loved how the story of the coyotes evolved. It is always fun when an author finds a way to build an unexpected twist into a story. It was also a great take on a strong story and plot with a menage trio with great characters.

Early book in writer’s career

Overall, Kiki Burrelli is an entertaining, imaginative, well written author. this book is by far her least effective and entertaining story.
Still recommended as the series is average but worth reading. Her later series are just amazing. As an author, reading this helps to see her strong development.

Opposites Attract

Brady, human, veterinarian mining his own busy, when Parker, coyote, walked into his home to rent a room. Then Glenn, wolf, showed up with an injured wolf. All three felt an attraction, but Glenn and Parker had only heard of having one mate. Glenn felt the need to be with both, but it took learning the secret to understand.

Wow, this book really had so much going on and the story definitely held my attention. I loved the dynamics between the three main characters (Parker, Glenn, and Brady) and how their relationship had evolved. The writing was wonderful and the characters were fascinating, except the villains, of course. Excellent read.

I really liked this story. I liked that differences between shifter types. I thought the combination of Brady, Parker and Glenn. I hope there’s more about them in the next book in the series. It was fast-paced and interesting all the way. I would definitely recommend this story.

Intriguing

Another well written novel, even if it needs a bit of grammatical tweaking. The characters are well developed. The triad of lovers of wolf, coyote, and human make for a lot of overcoming prejudices. Well done.

WOW!! So Good!!

Well written story and well developed characters. Those are the most important attributes, to me, in a book. It needs to grab me and not let go until the end. This book did that. In fact, the whole series so far does that!
