At first glance, Kyle Seltzer appears to be the perfect package, the answer to a single woman’s prayers. Until Cate discovers that the deaths of his wife and twin sons have left him struggling with some disturbing and bizarre issues. Not to worry. His identical twin brother Kane is just as dreamy, and with no notable issues. Only after she is pregnant does Cate learn that for the past century each generation of Seltzer twins has given birth to a set of male twins. One good, one evil. One fertile, one sterile. With the exception of Kane’s great, great uncle, the twins have a habit of dying young. And never from natural causes.
Kitty Margo grew up in a small North Carolina town nestled between the Pee Dee and Rocky Rivers. She began writing when her children were small. Having too many interests to stick to one genre, she has written books for the YA, historical romance, and women's fiction audience. Kitty has three amazing sons and four completely adorable grandchildren. She enjoys cruises with her girlfriends, traveling to historic destinations, reading, visits to Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC, and spending time with her grandchildren. She still lives in her North Carolina town with her youngest son, a song writing and beat making wizard, so there is never a dull, or quiet, moment.
This book was titled as a psychological thriller with a shocking twist! In fact it was a very disturbing, creepy read with curses, male twins, lots of death and pure evil. It was one of those books that is so ridiculous, vile and unbelievable that you have to finish it. It was just so...weird. I don't even know how to rate it if I'm honest. It was stupid but different. Completely baffling. 2.5*
I got this book because it was a psychological thriller. However, it was really different from other psychological thrillers I've read. It has a curse, a witch bent on ensuring the curse, and a pair of gorgeous twin brothers.
I had a hard time really getting into the book because it really didn't go in depth of any of the characters. There was more about the female protagonist than the other characters, but she was mainly reacting to things the curse caused to happen. Although the book is fast moving, it is really superficial. The ending caused me to have more questions than answers, and when I looked at the next book in the series, it was about someone else entirely, so the questions aren't answered later on in the series.
All in all, I was disappointed with the book, but other readers might enjoy it.
Amazing read! Haven't read anything like it ever before, and to be honest, the supernatural/fantasy genre isn't usually my thing, but this book was awesome.
It had me on the edge from the very start. Nicely written. I'll definitely be reading more of Margo's books in the future!
