A Very Wicked British Whodunnit!

I so love these characters. Charlotte & husband DCI Nathan have such a loving relationship. Their 6 yr old daughter Molly is quite a little character. I laughed out loud at some of the things that pop out of her mouth. The senior squad made up of Betty, Ava, & Harriett are colorful & eccentric. There is something so delightfully different about British whodunnits, more cerebral. The small town setting of St Ives charming & the plot intriguing with all its twist & turns. And the ending brought the biggest smile to my face! Sherri Bryan has done it again!!!

While I usually enjoy this cozy mystery series I found this installment to be tiresome. The mystery was predictable, it was easy to figure out what the conclusion was going to be. I like it better when Charlotte is in her cafe. This book was centered on her friends in a retirement community. I've never enjoyed these characters, but usually they are minor players in the story. In this book however, they were the center of the action. I found the catty, old ladies who shunned Betty to be ridiculous. While I realize this does happen in large groups of older women in retirement communities, I don't want to read about it. Hopefully, book 9 will be better.

Betty Tubbs is reminded of a fortune teller's words from more than 50 years earlier when she receives a bundle of never read love letters.
After seeking a new fortune and receiving the same message, Betty now fears for her life.
Charlotte and the gang are on the case after a skeleton is pulled up from the sea, and another death touches too close to home that may have something to do with the prophecy.

Loved it, as I have the rest of series. Can't wait for book #9 ( I do hope there will be one Sherri) :)

Fun characters, "amateur sleuth" helping detective solve mysteries. Great characters and writing

Very entertaining

I found this book to be very entertaining. I did not imagine who the killer was at all. Was taken totally by surprise. I liked the little surprise Charlotte had for Nathan at the end. This was a clean read free of cussing and sexual situations.

Doughnuts, Diamonds & Dead Men, oh my!

Cute story with just enough twists to keep you guessing. Lots of action too. Love the ending for Charlotte and Nathan!
