Guruvayur Keshavan is the most famous elephant that has ever lived in this world.
Keshavan was part of the elephants belonging to the Guruvayur temple. It is the Nilambur royal family that donated him to the temple.
Gajarajan Guruvayur Keshavan had a fairytale-like life. Even his death had a fairytale ending on 2nd December 1976, the day of Guruvayur Ekadasi, one of the most auspicious days in the Guruvayur temple.
His elegant portrait is still seen at the entrance of Guruvayur Temple. His story and legacy became so famous that many books and movies were made about him. This book by Unnikrishnan Puithoor discusses all these details about him.
