This book enabled me to overcome my anxiety in dealing with panic attacks. I speak before large crowds and minutes before, I nearly retch from anxiety. Dr. Lewis taught me how to take control of my panicked mind by managing anxious thoughts. Now, my retching spells have been extinguished altogether, simply by practicing his principles. I feel confident and can now enjoy the experience of public speaking. If you have social anxiety, this book is for you. If you have become exhausted in trying to fight panic attacks, this book is for you. This book is so well-written, I read it in one weekend. Thank you, Dr. Lewis, for saving my career!
I've had problems with anxiety (particularly social) for decades. After overcoming or learning to deal with other mental health issues yet never being able to rid myself of this one in particular, I'd reached a point where I thought it's just something I'm always going to have to live with. Having read this book, I've been given some hope. It's easy to understand, makes sense in terms of science and human behaviour, is empathetic and is not patronising. I've practised a couple of the beginner/easier exercises as I read and will be trying out all of them with renewed optimism that with some time and practise, I can reach a point where it will no longer have such an impact on my life.
Really good insight into social anxiety. Definitely planning to do the exercises in this book and hope to become the person I want to be. Thank you Matt.
Enjoyed the book I really felt I learnt a lot about anxietY, I made a video endorsing the book and just summary of one of the techniques used in the book.
Want to overcome Social Anxiety? Here’s the answer!
This book ‘nails it’ when it comes to understanding and describing methods for addressing for anxiety. Like all great advice, it is simple to follow and implement and I can vouch for the results.
Good practical book, easy to read and understand. Explains what anxiety is, why it happens and the pros and cons. It doesn’t just tell you to breathe and focus but actually gives you some really good exercises to try and combat your anxiety. Very informative book!
Overall I feel like this was a good book, however if you’ve ever read any anxiety self help book, there is lots of things within that have already been mentioned in other books.
