This is the end of a story that began in Twisted Truth. The action is intense and the series, both books together, is just wonderful. Two short, fast and intense novellas with two different couples providing the point of view make this 10 book series, Solitude, Oregon Series, very interesting and compelling reading.
In Twisted Truth a young boy, Liam was kidnapped and turned up chained in a basement. He was picked up by two FBI Agents and his uncle. They never made it out of Solitude, Oregon. A two-day rain storm has swollen the Rogue River and cut off the small town. No way in and no way out. A body washes up on the riverbank and shortly thereafter the car carrying the Agents, Liam and Marcus is discovered. The Agents are dead, Marcus and Liam are missing.

I have said it before and I will say it again...I think that Kendra Elliot is an under rated Author who does not get the attention that she deserves. Everything I have read by her, I have really enjoyed. This Novella, although enjoyable, was my least favorite of her work.
This book is #2 in a series and I did not read the first one. Would have that cause me to enjoy this book more? Perhaps. I do believe that I was given enough of the backstory to grasp what is happening in this novella. There is a horrible storm going on that has cut off a small town from surrounding areas. During this time, a child has gone missing and two FBI agents have been found shot to death inside their vehicle.
Police officers Stevie and her husband Zane are trying to find the missing boy. They also know that the person responsible for the missing boy and the two dead agents may be stuck in their rain drenched town. It is only a matter of time before rain stops and the roads are drive-able or the murderer kills again.
I think I would have enjoyed this more if it were a full blown novel and Elliot had more time to flesh out her story. Again, I did not read part 1 so perhaps I am missing something but this novella was just lacking for me. I didn't really feel invested in the story or the characters. This was sad for me as I am a Kendra Elliot fan. I will still keep reading her books as I enjoy her work. I wish more people read her work, but I don't feel this is the best book/novella to star with.

If you read Twisted Truth and felt it ended too soon and you needed more, then this is the answer. This is the second novella in the Rogue Justice series which is one of the follow up series to the original Rogue River series. This series is a collaboration between Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. The writing styles of Ms. Elliot and Ms Leigh are very complimentary and the collaborative effort works well. (I would however, definitely recommend reading a Twisted Truth by Melinda Leigh prior to reading this novella. These novellas work best if read in sequence.)
Picking up where the first novella leaves off, we find hidden truths behind the kidnapping of a young boy. Solitude police officer Stevie Duncan and her Chief of Police husband, Zane, are dealing with flood waters and loss of support as their town is cut off from the rest of the country. This story is the second book in this short novella series. In this conclusion, the story introduces Stevie and Zane Duncan, husband and wife duo of the Solitude police force. Zane is now Chief of Police and holds his share of demons when it concerns children as well.
The story picks up where Twisted Truth leaves off with the child leaving with his uncle and the two FBI agents guarding them. Everyone believes that the case is over but far from being closed when the two FBI agents are found shot to death in their vehicle and the uncle and child go missing again.
The rain has not let up and the town continues to flood in all areas…turning the town into its own little island I think. Stevie and Zane are now looking for the individuals who have murdered the FBI agents. One thing on their side is that no one can escape due to the flooding so there is only so many places the killer could hide.
Not only do they not have to track a murderer, they find a dead body washed up from the flood while on lookout for two brothers who are considered suspects and are supposedly there to elk hunt. The story turns into a fast pace police story where they uncover a competitor’s need to kidnap the child, the uncle’s willingness to sell him at a high price, Zane getting over his demons to save a child when one was lost in his past, and the one-the-run father, Wade coming to his son’s rescue.
It is a great mystery book that has it twists and turns with uncovering the bottom of why the child meant so much to everyone and why people were being killed to get their hands on him. I found it very engaging until the end, it had its compelling events, genuine characters with realistic issues and overall a well-written and entertaining story.

The second book in the Rogue Justice series by Kendra Elliot. The story begins when the first book ends but features Chief of Police Zane Duncan and his wife, Stevie Duncan, a Solitude police officer. The FBI vehicle that was transporting the boy, Liam, and his uncle is found with the two agents murdered and the boy and uncle missing.
I was unaware this was part of another series when I started the books. This one was short and just hit on the meat of the story. But I liked it and enjoyed both books, Twisted Truth and Truth Be Told.

Way too short. This author always delivers. For such a short story it was well written and complete. Though it almost felt like this was the ending to the series. That would be a shame. I really enjoy these characters. Stevie and Zane are my favorites. Now to search for the next book.

Not the strongest ending to this series. 😕 This one just didn't hold my interest as much as the other mysteries. I guess I don't think this part 2 mystery was worth the extra pages. The part 1 with the other couple was plenty. I wish the author had chosen a stronger more complex story to give this couple a strong send off. 🤷🏽♀️

This is the concluding book in the Rogue Justice series about one missing little boy, a murdered wife and a missing $10 million, which started in Twisted Truth by Melinda Leigh. We follow police officers Zane and Stevie Duncan, a husband and wife team, as they come across the bodies of two FBI agents who were supposed to escorting Liam, the boy found chained in the basement in Twisted Truth to safety. Instead, he is once again missing along with his uncle. But their small town is now complete cut off from the world by the storm coming in, meaning the murderer is still somewhere in town, and no one knows where he may strike next.I wrote in the blurb that this was the concluding instalment of this series, I am actually not sure if that is true and if Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot are going to do more in this series. However, I can assure you that this was the concluding part in this particular story arc. I hope Elliot and Leigh do release more books in this series as I really enjoyed it. I said in my previous review that it felt as if these were characters that Leigh had written about before and I was right. Both Elliot and Leigh have collaborated on a series before, with the same characters, and I plan on giving it a try. If anyone else is interested, check out these series: Rogue River, Rogue Winter and Rogue Vows.
The action really kicks up in this book as the town is now completely isolated from any help. They just have small police force to not only keep the town under control in harsh conditions, but also to try and track down a murderer and save Liam. Stevie and Zane were new characters for me and I loved the strong sense of competence and compassion I got from each of them, they were a great couple. The story also kept you guessing as a few new elements were thrown in to keep us readers, and Zane and Stevie, on our toes.
A good mystery/thriller that kept me interested and engaged with both the story and characters all the way through.

Truth Be Told was an exciting follow up to Twisted Death and a fast-paced read with a suspenseful plot.
When two FBI agents turn up dead on their way out of town with a young child they were charged with protecting, police officers Stevie Duncan and her husband Zane know they need to find the child before it’s too late. The town of Solitude, Oregon has been cut off from the outside world after a nonstop storm has made all exits impassable leaving the killer trapped somewhere in town. With the young boy missing, Stevie and Zane need to urgently locate him and the killer before the rivers recede and the killer leaves town.
Stevie Duncan comes from a family of cops and is dedicated to her job. Zane initially worked under Stevie’s father when he first joined the Solitude police department several years prior to this novella. Stevie and Zane work well together and I liked that Zane trusted Stevie to be capable of handling herself on the job. In a dangerous situation such as the one they’ve found themselves in, they worry about one another but don’t let that interfere with their work.
The plot in Truth Be Told was quite interesting and the loose ends left from the first book, Twisted Death, were all nicely tied up before the end of the book. This book picks up almost immediately after the end of the first book and you’d be pretty lost if you hadn’t read that one as the plot heavily relies on what happened in the first book. I enjoyed how quickly everything happened and there’s very little down time from the case. These books are definitely more of the suspense side, but there is a light touch of romance that’s well done.
Overall Truth Be Told was a fun, quick read and I would definitely recommend the Rogue Justice duology to anyone who’s looking for some quick romantic suspense reads that are light on the romance and heavy on the thrills.

A missing child, dead FBI agents, a torrential rain - once again, Solitude is a hot bed of crime. This tiny town has an amazing amount of crime, particularly murders and kidnapping. Even including the larger county as a setting, it stretches credibility at times. I'd love to see the police on a case outside of town for a change of pace.
Anyway, "Truth Be Told" picks up shortly after the first book ended. The boy who was rescued in the first book is now missing, his uncle is missing, and there are now 2 dead FBI agents. Stevie and Zane are not only looking for the boy and his uncle but the boy's father while dealing with the flooding and its complications. Add in embezzling and some unexpected Taylor family news, and this novella is non-stop.
I love reading about the Taylor family, their problems and joys, their relationships, and their jobs. They're not a perfect family, they get on each other's nerves, fight, and have problems but they stand together, help each other, and go above and beyond in their jobs. As in the first book, the focus is on the mysteries but there's more focus on Stevie and Zane's relationship and the Taylor family. While most of the stories in the Rogue River novella have focused on the sisters, Stevie and Carly, Bruce has been getting more page time recently. And it looks like changes, good changes, are in store for their mother, Patsy.

This second book in the Rogue Justice series is an excellent murder, mystery story. It is suspenseful and exciting. Even though it melds perfectly with book one (Twisted Truth by Melinda Leigh,) it can just as easily be read as a standalone. It is a trilling story of a missing boy, murdered FBI agents and a killer loose in a town isolated by rising floodwater. As with the other Rogue series’, the Taylor family remain the core characters, concentration more on Stevie and Zane in this story. I love these two characters; they are not perfect and they work hard to find balance in both their home and work life. They are relatable and you want them to succeed. I really enjoyed the intrigue, suspense, double crossing and revelations in this story, there was never a dull moment and it kept my attention right to the end. Wow, great conclusion to the suspense started in the last book and a terrific HEA for the Taylor clan. Enjoyed these novellas very much. Equal amount of suspense and romance. Loved Zane/Stevie and Seth/Carly. But you can't help but like all the Taylor family. Some of the town regulars were great too.The main characters and their stories continue on from the 1st novella through all 4 sets.
These should be read in order as some of the suspense continues from one book to the next before a case is solved. Each novella is around 87 pages long, give or take and are by authors Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh, two of my favorites for romantic suspense. All kindle unlimited books. I flew through these, easy reading, and once you start you don't want to stop. Here's the breakdown of the Solitude, Oregon series set of novellas in order:

Direct sequel to Melinda Leigh's Twisted Truth -- despite the different author and different couple.
In here, the boy that was found chained in the first book goes missing again, this time with his uncle, while the Solitude police officers deal with two dead FBI agents, and of course being cut off from outside towns as the rain pouring down the area. This definitely answers my question about the case, because Stevie (a patrol officer) and Zane (the deputy chief, her husband) asked the same question towards the suspect.
Thought these two books are nice mystery novella. I might try to backtrack to the previous sets and check out their other cases.

It is good to see the romantic story line is between a husband and wife, and not just boyfriend and girl friend. This story has Zane and Stevie Duncan looking for murderers, and some one who was in the FBI's protective custody gone missing. The only way out of town has been washed out, so the missing person and murder is still in Solitude. It maybe a small town, but there are plenty of places to hide. Can Zane and Stevie find the murderer before more bodies are found? Read this short story to find out.

Truth Be Told is book two in the Rogue Justice series by Kendra Elliot. The small town of Solitude, Oregon, is usually a peaceful retreat for visits and residents. However, a terrible storm hit Solitude and in its wake left a small child who witnesses a double homicide, body found on the riverbank and two FBI agents killed in their car. Stevie Duncan and her husband Zane realising that must find the killer before he finds the missing witness. The readers of Truth Be Told will continue to follow the twists and turns in Stevie and Zane investigation to find the killer.
Truth Be Told another enjoyable book from the pen of Kendra Elliot. I love Kendra Elliot portrayal of her characters and the way they intertwine with each other throughout the book. Truth Be Told is well written and researched by Kendra Elliot. I like Kendra Elliot description of her settings and the way they complement her plot of this book. Truth Be Told picks up right where Twisted Truth left off and it is just as tense and fast paced. This short novella is action packed and quite intense, capturing the reader’s attention right from the start. There are also quite a few twists that carry off from the previous novel that are just as surprising and impactful.
Kendra Elliot delivers a very entertaining story with layered characters and a well-developed mystery plot. The writing is great and easy to get into, and the sprinkle of romance continues to balance out the suspense rather nicely.
This novella is just as good as the first one. It’s a quick and engaging read, and the reveals are done really well. They lose the predictability from the first installment and result in a lot of shocking scenes, which only makes the story even better.
Stevie and Zane are great narrators and they really move the story along. It is lovely reading about their struggles, especially Zane’s, while they are trying to deal with the situation at hand. And the light romance works really well to add a bit of sweetness to the otherwise tense plot.
Overall, Truth Be Told is a thrilling and fun read. It packs quite a lot in just under 100 pages and manages to capture your attention the entire time. The developed characters and well-executed plot are part of what makes it so good, but the action and tense atmosphere take the cake.

Truth Be Told picks up right where Twisted Truth left off and it is just as tense and fast paced. This short novella is action packed and quite intense, capturing the reader’s attention right from the start. There are also quite a few twists that carry off from the previous novel that are just as surprising and impactful.
Kendra Elliot delivers a very entertaining story with layered characters and a well-developed mystery plot. The writing is great and easy to get into, and the sprinkle of romance continues to balance out the suspense rather nicely.
This novella is just as good as the first one. It’s a quick and engaging read, and the reveals are done really well. They lose the predictability from the first installment and result in a lot of shocking scenes, which only makes the story even better.

The story begins with Stevie being called to the scene of a car accident to discover that the two FBI agents who had come to escort kidnapped Liam and his Uncle to Seattle have been murdered and Liam and Marcus are missing again. With rains pouring, rivers rising, and bridges under water, Stevie and her husband Zane know that they have a murderer trapped in Solitude.
Besides the missing Liam and Marcus are also the missing Dodge brothers who had escaped from police custody and a man missing from a local B&B. It is also possible that Liam's father Wade is in town too looking for his missing son. Clearly the mystery is developing twists and turns.
It is now known that Wade did not murder his wife but he is still accused of stealing ten million dollars from his defense contractor employer who is in jail for attacking Stevie's family and trying to kidnap Liam. His business rival Dawn Hazelwood is in town too. She says she's looking for the Dodge brothers but things aren't adding up.
This was an exciting, fast-paced story the kept me reading until I knew who had done what.

Truth Be Told is the 2nd story in the Rogue Justice series. I was initially drawn to this series because Melinda Leigh is one of my favorite authors. This is my first Kendra Elliot story and it will certainly not be the last. It flowed seamlessly from Melinda Leigh's Book One although I think there was enough back story that it would do fine as a stand-alone.
This story was extremely light on the romance side of things but was a jam packed murder, suspense thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. The plot continues to thicken in the little town of Solitude, Oregon when 2 FBI agents are found murdered and the little boy is now missing.
This was a great conclusion to this series and I look forward to reading more from this author.

A who done it, done right
The story picks up immediately from book one of this novella set and we are faced with a natural disaster, murdered FBI and a missing child. Zane and Stevie are running the show and responding to the community while also trying to solve the murder and disappearance.
This story was great. The details are shared with emotion and great background. The characters cover all of thee motions and some of the Eurosong twists were mouth dropping, but perfect. The thanksgiving ending was sweet and funny. I loved the timing of it and the inclusion of so many community favorites for the story.!
I don’t see any more of this community in the authors book lists, but hopefully they return to Rogue River again!

Gostei muito do enredo, agora do lado de Stevie e Zane, casados há 4 meses. a segunda metade da novella já andava um bocado perdida e confundia os personagens, acho que era um enredo algo complexo para ser explorado em força numa novella apenas.

Yet another 5 star for the Kendra Elliot/Melinda Leigh team!
I jumped right into this one the day after reading the first book of this series and it just jumps right into and continuing the story from Twisted Truth but it is more from the perspective of Stevie and Zane Duncan!
I can't wait to read the rest of this novella series!

¡Demasiado cortos!
Me ha encantado el final aunque no quería que se acabara nunca. Como ya he escrito antes, me encanta visitar este universo.
Como buen dueto, ambos libros se complementan y enriquecen la historia. Imagino que si alguien empieza a leer estas sagas por el final, estará bastante perdido. Es recomendable haber leído los libros anteriores. Mejor si son todos y desde el principio.

Back to Stevie and Zane, and the conclusion of the little boy. It got even more crazy if you can believe that, a lot more twists and turns. But it works out in the end.
The weather never really played a role before and I think it was genius to have it come into play in this book. It fits.
I am going to miss these characters. We have been through it with them.

Good finish to the Rogue Justice series. The mystery was resolved and I was mostly satisfied with the conclusion. I don't think this works as a standalone, the first novella should definitely be read first.
I'm interested in reading/listening to more from these authors, the previous Rogue River series look intriguing. I'd recommend for romantic suspense fans.

Just like book 1 in the Rogue Justice series 92 pages goes by so fast but Kendra Elliot packs a punch keeping readers on a run and when they finish they want to start the book all over again.
Readers have to read book one in the Rogue Justice series to full understand what is happening in book two. Even though it is two different perspectives it is still a continuation of the first book.
The characters stay true to who they are while introducing a few new characters. That readers will enjoy.
Kendra Elliot is able to give readers so much in just a few short pages readers will keep like they are reading a full length novel until the lat page wishing and hoping for more.
