Jeanne Hardt has always been involved in the creative arts in one form or fashion.
In November of 2010, a dream inspired her to write her first novel. Having moved from the Northwest to the South in the mid-nineties, she was drawn to Southern history.
Though she moved to Tennessee to pursue a career in music and acting, once she set her hands on the computer keyboard, she discovered her true passion and hasn’t stopped writing since.
Her stories are far from typical romances, though she promises a happy ending. She’s recently branched out into other genres, including young adult and contemporary women’s fiction. However, her true writing passion will always remain with historical fiction.
She currently lives in Tennessee with her husband, their little dog, Jax, and a multitude of dreams.
Book 2 was enjoyable, continues storyline of the family you came to love in book 1. Doesn’t pull on the heart strings quite as hard but an enjoyable read.
I enjoyed reading about the next stage in Lily's life and the lives of the other characters, but I did not like this book as much as the first one in the series. There were too many annoying characters and few who were as likable and entertaining as the ones in the first book. I definitely felt compassion for Lily and the hard choices she had to make, but just did not find as much enjoyment reading about these people as I did about the struggles and hardships her family went through in the first book. Also it ends with another cliff hanger, which always annoys me.
Lilly has had very much heartbreak in her short life. She and her family have survived the civil war, although not without a wounded father. The family must then endure the ravages of post wartime in a lawless period of time in the country. Lilly has been forced to move away from her family and join her wealthy aunt and uncle in another city to begin a new life. Her next experiences are both predictable and unexpectedly surprising. The book is interesting and entertaining. The characters are well thought out and believable. A good read and I look forward to the third book...
I ABSOLUTELY loved this book. It is full of adventure., love, .betrayal and sorrow but also compassion and forgiveness. I think we all can probably name a friend or relative who has travelled down the road Lily traveled but with the help of dedicated people they found the strength to forge a new and better life. Thank you Jeanne for this one!
Rated high after accidentally finding the first book and I had to find out what happened to Lily. Grateful the story continued and ended so appropriately. The characters became realistic because of the authors skill in writing. Does Lily reconnect with Noah. I hope so. Thank you J Hardt
Loved both Smoky Mountain Secrets Sage books 1 and 2, Can't wait to start no. 3
I have always loved books that are set in the early days of our country. Particularly books set in the South. A lot of Tennessee and North Carolina civil war history included, the ways of life of the mountain folk, very interested family being followed.
A way of capturing g your heart. Mrs Larsen Aunt Helen Uncle Stuart and Lily's brother are mean cruel people. Lily was going to finally find happiness until she wanted to be honest with new love. Only to find he truly didn't love her. She found Archibald and Mrs Gotlibe Evie and David were get true friends until she met the Wayers
A great continuation of the first book. I can't wait to read book three
I grew to love the lives of the main characters. I want to know, what happens next. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading historical novels centering around the Civil War
The author has me fully captivated! Truly a page turner. Lily Larson is the main character. You'll fall in love with her honesty and integrity. Can't wait to my hands on the next book in the series to find out what happenes next in Lily's life.
So much history in how women were treated as property during this period of time. Exciting to see how characters are woven into the story that God places at the perfect time of need. Love reading about the history of the area in which I live.
I was glad to learn of this follow up book about Lily. I am looking forward to the next one also. The writing is good, a page turner and a good depiction of what was Civil War romance.
Great story line. I finished the second one and can't stop reading! Really enjoying this series. I want to leave positive reviews but not sure why there's an irritating word minimum!
