Special Agent Bay Kennedy hunts sex offenders. She credits her unusual abilities as to why she is the best Chicago has to offer – enhanced strength and speed among other things – and she only sleeps once a week. Her reality is challenged when she’s attacked in her apartment by a malicious creature. Saved by four strangers, Bay soon learns that she has more in common with these supernatural beings than she thinks. Her rescuers ask Bay to help them keep an ancient evil imprisoned. But her ideals are spurned when she must enter the criminal underground of drug smuggling, weapons exchange, and prostitution. The five of them have the power to save the world, but can an FBI Agent reconcile working in the criminal underground?

About the author

Nichelle Rae

9 books87 followers
Nichelle Rae has an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. The goal was to become a juvenile corrections officer, but she realized her true passion lay with writing novels.
Her love for writing began when she was fourteen with fun short stories, but those very quickly evolved into novels. Her first book series, The White Warrior series, took two years to write by hand.
Through the years she has gotten much praise from fans, peers, professors, and professional authors she’s had a chance to work with. She has a great feel for pace, especially during her exciting action scenes, and her main characters tend to be strong female warriors with some kind of darkness to slay; personally, figuratively and literally.

I wanted to like this book. I really did. It was great until two thirds of the way in and it became overly preachy. I made it through almost the whole book but just couldn’t take anymore. Well written and great idea. Just not for me.

I tried to like it, but found it impossible. It lacked any sort of readability (it read like a dispassionate middle school speech to me) and I never felt engrossed in the story.
Decent idea, but more than a bit dry and underdeveloped for my taste.

Fascinating, Riveting and Very Coarse

I really wanted to give this five stars, but I couldn't do it. As someone who knows and understands Scripture, the story fascinated me. Nichelle's writing style is compelling. (I love her Azrel/White Warrior series.) But...the sex is too graphic, the language too rough. I'm not a prude, but it was way too much. The idea was fantastic, albeit a departure from my understanding of scriptural prophesy. I will probably read part 2 after a while, but I hope she brings out another White Warrior adventure before then.

Beautiful craftsmanship!

Engaging characters. Interesting plot. Definitely a good read.
It staggers on the knife edge of a cliffhanger. (which I hate) but successfully stays on the complete novel side.
A very interesting fantasy.

Trigger warning- mention of rape
Very good book.
I loved the characters and the content, but I was curious about one thing. Where did they get their nicknames? And how was the relationships of the archangels and their "partners?"
This book reminded me of Maximum Ride!

The book grabs you almost immediately and makes it very hard to put down. The topic of God and the saving of humanity and the costs of doing so makes you think (or it made me think). I would recommend this book and am awaiting the 2nd book.
