The Ghosts of Culloden Moor #6, 7, 10

Ghosts of Culloden Moor Collections Volume 2

Rate this book
79 Highlanders arose from their graves the day after the Battle of Culloden Moor. Nearly 300 years later, a young lass hopes to re-write history... Soncerae is a Muir Witch whose destiny is to save these Highland warriors who refuse to leave Culloden's hallowed, forever-bloody ground. She can win back their lives, but only for a time. And in that time, she hopes to prove that a heart's true desire can mean so much more than revenge. This anthology contains the stories of Fraser, Rabby, and Macbeth. "These rough, braw men of mine... 'Tis more than just pride and injustice that keeps them tethered to the moor. But pride is what I'll use to get them to go on. Ye see, I've known for a long while I'll know no peace until they've found theirs." ~Soncerae Muir

I didn’t enjoy this collection quite as much as the first but it was still a really enjoyable read. I especially loved Rabby’s story, it was just so sweet and had my heart absolutely melting for him. That’s what’s I enjoy the most about these stories, you can’t help but root for the characters and hope they finally get their happy endings after all these years!

Loved Macbeth - Spoilers!!

All three stories were well written, but Macbeth has a special place in my heart as I could seriously relate to the storyline.

I helped take care of my grandfather in his last years and was with him when he passed. So I was crying right along with Catherine at the end when Alonzo passed.

Nice stories

Even though each story was shorter all three kept your interest. Its too bad it wasn't really true for the Highlanders sake. England was so horrible to Scotland as well as other countries.

Three of the finest ghost stories I've ever read. Fraser is a lovely romance, in which the ghost of a jilted warrior who fell at Culloden gets a do-over - of sorts. MacBeth is a sad and sweet tale of love and loss, as the ghost of the Highlanders' battlefield doctor confronts one more death, and the fear of eternal condemnation by those warriors he failed so long ago. The story of Rabby broke my heart, as the love story here is familial, not romantic. Young Rabby and his dog haunt Culloden Moor in fear of eternal parental condemnation for his running away, and his subsequent death at the Battle of Culloden. I needed tissues for that one, even though it ended well. The common thread to all three tales is the young witch Soncerae, who bargains for each ghost one last opportunity to deal with the betrayal by Charles Stuart which led to their deaths. Author L.L. Muir has a thorough grasp of Scots history, a masterful knack for evocative description, and the most magnificent way with Scots dialect. This is a superb collection.

I love these stories based on 79 ghosts inhabiting Culloden Moor for over 250 years who, by magic, are reanimated and sent to the present to complete a heroic deed on a stranger’s behalf. These fierce and charming characters are every bit the Highlanders who fought for Prince Charles, but died tragically on Culloden Moor in 1746. The books are novellas really, a collection of short stories chronicling the selfless deeds in defense of those in the present who need their chivalrous actions. A great palate cleanser between heavier works. Restores your faith in humanity! ENJOY

Gentlemen to the end and beyond. Each character's story tugs at your heart strings and there is a Muir witch behind each one to help obtain their hearts desire. Two of these made me tear up, Rabbie and Macbeth. All of these are love stories, but not all are what you expect. Well worth the read.

Perfect blend

I’ve read the Outlander books and seen the series. These are much more gentle, but still have poignant moments of laughter and tears. Each story different but still connected.

Beautifully written!
These 3 stories will melt your heart and fill you with hope! The story of Fraser and his struggle for trust, the story of Rabby and his dog, Dolphin, will bring tears of joy, and the story of Macbeth, Catherine and Alonso will bring both tears of sadness as well as joy.

lovely stories

Each story is special and unique but most importantly, they are a joy to read! I think this is a wonderful way to tell the many of the stories from Culloden Moor.
The writing is quite good and each set of characters are interesting and fun to meet and learn about.

These were starting to get monotonous but Rabby & MacBeth's stories were enough different that I'm hoping it's a harbinger to slightly more nuanced stories in the future. Still after all of the serious non fiction I've been reading, these are delightful.

Ghosts of Culloden Moor volume 2

A wee witch of 6 months to the age of 16 acknowledged the spirits of warriors. Now with the help of author L.L. Muir the witch is giving the warriors a few days of being mortal. Some go to heaven and some become mortal with true love.

Ghosts of Culloden Moor

These are a lovey set of mystic stories with a bit of Gaelic thrown in. The smooth flow from one story to the next keeps the reader moving eagerly from one tale to the next.

Ghosts of Colleen Moor

Pleasant reading about the massacre of Full keen and 79 of the Scots plus one dog. Do you see the Full keen rather than Culloden in the previous sentence? The books each have several of those errors because someone used spell check but didn't proof read.

Three more great stories of the ghosts and heroes of Culloden Moor. I will surely continue the series until I've read all 79! I've read only six, so I will be entertained for a while.
