FROM BESTSELLING GAY ROMANCE AUTHOR MORTICIA KNIGHT

Book three in the Soul Match series

Embracing destiny was never meant to be easy.

Morgan can’t figure out where he belongs anymore now that a new world has emerged in the aftermath of the Alasharian invasion of Earth. Everything is too strange and frightening and all he wants to do is hide from it all. It doesn’t help to ease his confusion when he finds himself being drawn to not one but two aliens. He thought his cousin Chris was insane to fall in love with the muscled warriors who bonded with him as his mates, but his own heart might be in danger when it comes to the warrior Rama, and Hallosh, an advisor to the Alasharian’s Supreme Commander, the Nall.

Chris experiences a terrifying vision from the Soul Healer and it becomes clear that both Alasharian and humans are running out of time to save the Earth from the insidious spread of the Void. A battle is imminent and it becomes imperative to protect those who are allied against the evil that has corrupted the Nall.

Everything on Earth is about to change once again and Morgan finds himself at the brink of discovering his own destiny—and how the two aliens he can’t get out of his mind will be a part of it. A disturbing event triggers the beginning of the fight against the Void. Chris and Morgan must separate for the first time since the invasion, with each of them leaving with their own soul matches. For Morgan, he hopes the goodbye he says to Chris won’t be forever.

The first two books (that definitely need to be read before this volume) set the scene for an overarching threat to both Earth and Alashar, the planet that is home to the aliens who have conquered Earth and have made the male humans who survived into sex slaves. Chris, bonded to Nary and Lasar, has begun to discover more details about the danger that has driven the Alasharians to find a new home, and in this third book, it is up to Chris’s cousin, Morgan, to find out what role he plays in the all-out war for the existence of both species. And he has to deal with all of it while being in the middle of finding his own two soul matches. Talk about a stressful situation!

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

In this book, as in all the others, the magic of soul bonding is used to overcome the realization that Chris, Morgan, and countless other humans are nothing but sex slaves. Even if their master or masters love them, they are still slaves and incapable of giving any consent. It’s especially alarming as this scene is written from Lasar’s point of view and he is an alien who has been raised to know that he will always be the dominant in a relationship. There is no question for him about his right to do this to Chris or Nary. He has the right, and it’s because he’s a good guy that he tries to give his mates pleasure with their pain, rather than just pain. That’s not to say I doubt that Lasar is meant to come off quite so much like a rapist, and — from what we know of Chris’ wants and desires from previous books — I doubt Chris minded the treatment, but the scene might have been more effective and less worrying if it had been written from Chris’ point of view.

I’m not sure how I want to rate this. The parts that actually moved the plot along, I enjoyed. Unfortunately, there wasn’t that much. Honestly, the author has dragged out this series way too much for the amount of plot that is actually there. This could have been wrapped up in one decent sized novel. Fortunately for the author, I like the characters enough that I am in it for the long haul. I’m just not sure it has been worth the money that I spent on it.

I like how the books are just slowing very well from one to the next. This was more focused on Morgan and the fact that he is so terrified of the aliens and then wham bam soul match with 2 of them and he's no longer afraid and hops in bed with them. It was too simple for my tastes but book 4 is coming :)

Ok

I understand where Morgan is coming from when it cones to Chris and what is going on. Everything is really confusing in his world right now.

You have two read the first two books to fully grasp what is going on, but it is getting good. This is the story of Chris’s cousin Morgan. It seems like things are picking up and I have to start the next book ASAP.

This is not a standalone story and the first two books need to be read first, so anything I say here might spoil those books. In this third installment in the Soul Match series, we get Morgan’s story. As Chris’s cousin, we’ve seen him on the sidelines watching in terror as his cousin becomes matched to Lasar and Nary. He doesn’t know what’s going on and while he’s grateful for the protection he’s currently enjoying, it’s tenuous at best and he wants no part of the solution

Knowing that he risks being sent back to the cages, Lasar makes arrangements for Morgan with someone who 1) isn’t looking for a sexual relationship and 2) isn’t going to treat him badly. That’s the best case scenario in this invasion and Morgan knows this. Doesn’t stop him from being terrified. Also, there’s the case of the spark of something between him and Hallosh in the previous book.

Enter Rama. He’s tired of fighting, but he’ll do what’s necessary. He’s longed for a match but believes he’s long past the age when that will happen. He envies the triad, but he’s not really considering that a possibility for himself. He joins the cause against Nall & the Void without blinking and accepts the role of Morgan’s protector. The resulting relationship was so abrupt and opposite of everything Morgan has consistently stood on that I had to read it twice. When reassurance turns to the realization that they are soul matched, Morgan flips on a dime and goes all in with Rama. Not just all in, but they need a third and he knows exactly who that is.

What I missed was actual relationship building. The beginning picked up where book 2 left off—with Chris having another vision, Lasar & Nary helping him through the subsequent meltdown, and then planning based on the cryptic message from the Supreme Soul Healer. All necessary and exciting to the series. Then the ending was horrifying and set the stage for another character’s book. Sandwiching this new romance in between made it secondary to the series plot.

And yet, I’m hooked. I’m in it for the Void mystery and what I hope is going to be an epic takedown of the Nall. I would love more out of the relationships than just insta-match/hot sex, but if Nall gets his ass handed to him in slow and painful detail, that may be enough.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for an honest review

The Soul Match series has fascinated me since the first book, in the way Morticia Knight combined aliens and BDSM in a way that fit the culture of the aliens without making it seem strange. I enjoyed the first two books that focused on Chris, Nary, and Lasar as they discovered the depth of their connection and how they could manage being three together when a soul match is meant for two Alasharians.

Morgan, Chris’s cousin, has just been along for the ride until now. He’s been protected by Nary and Lasar as much as they could, but he was waiting for Rama, the Alasharian he’s assigned to, to return and take him as his slave. He’s terrified by the prospect. He felt a connection to Hallosh, however briefly, but he will fight against it. When he meets Rama, though, he realizes not all Alasharians are the same. And when the gentle warrior takes an interest in Morgan’s books, their connection deepens.

To me, Morgan is a more likeable character. Maybe it’s his innocence and how uncertain he was over everything. Chris was hesitant, but he seemed to fall quickly for his alien matches. Morgan, on the other hand, has been watching everything from the sidelines and has had more time to process, or not, the situation.

The book does bring in Chris’s point of view since he is integral to the series. The plot thickens with the Nall and the Void becoming more dangerous, and the resistance needs to move fast before it’s too late to save human and alien life.

This series does have some BDSM and mentions of slavery, as humans are considered sexual slaves for many of the Alasharians. What happens between Chris, Morgan, and their matches is consensual. This series also must be read in order because the events from this book directly follow events from the previous book, and it would be incredibly confusing without the background information.

I highly recommend this series, though! It was enjoyable and I cannot wait for the next book!

Book & Author: Hiding From Two by Morticia Knight
Rating: 4 stars

I may or may not have yelled with how it ended and I’m still freaking glad I devoured the book!

I mean what’s not to love? Aliens and human mating, an apocalyptic storyline that the author likes to unfold slowly and with patience that I just don’t have (give me more!), the emotionally gripping the-end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it thoughts and feelings, the love...I could go on.

Finally, we get Morgan and his mates! We were teased in book 2 about who his one mate was going to be but things didn’t progress which in the end to one was great. Morgan is still scared of the Alasharians, even Chris’s mates, so he needed more time to adjust. I loved that she gave him friendship and trust before the realization of who one of his mates were which opened a door. Morticia never fails to give us well-developed characters that are easy to connect and cheer for let alone the whole of the beings on Earth.

The plot thickens once again! The Void is getting stronger, taking over more and more, but the allies are growing as well. It’s still a balancing act to keep them all safe and alive and Chris is under even more pressure since it’s all on him as to how they survive. The suspense is mounting but Morticia never falters in her delivery of the crumbs that progress the story and the heat and love between these bonded mates.

Now I need book four….

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 3 in the Soul Match series, and you really DO need to read books one, Slave For Two and book two, Cherished By Two before you read this one. You need to know about Chris, Lasar and Nary and not all is recapped here.

Morgan is Chris' cousin and under Lasar's protective custody. After Advisor Hallosh helped save Morgan from the attack at the Nall's sex party, the Soul Match flares between them. But then it flares again when Morgan meets Rama, Lasar's warrior friend. But Morgan is scared, and it takes another vision that Chris has to make Morgan see, that there are worse things than being a third in a Soul Match bond. Time is running out, though, for both the human and Alasharian rebellion.

For me, the weakest of the three books so far, and I think it's mainly because of Morgan himself! He was so adamant that he would NOT match with Hallosh and Rama, and then BOOM, his opinion flipped on a penny and I felt it a bit much.

We do get some Chris and that vision the Shar Shar Ar graces Chris with. We get what's happening with the Nall and the Void.

And we are introduced to Graham in the most horrific way. His book is next.

So, not as good as book 2, but on a par with book one.

4 stars

Snagged this book after the last so I could keep going. Definitely need to read the first two before this one, but I enjoy the polyam dynamics a bunch and I prefer Morgan as a character to Chris. I wish I had more time to get to know Morgan’s mates as I did with Chris’s, but this series happens really fast and this book, like the last, only took a couple days. Some typos here and there especially with the alien words. Fun read though.

I have been waiting for Morgan's story for so long and I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved Morgan, and I think I might like him more than Chris. I adore how much he loves books and his slow connection to Rama and Hallosh.

Things are ramping up and I cannot wait for the next book! Full review will be up on The Novel Approach.

Absolutely awesome series

I love these books! We finally got to see Morgan meet his Ahnas and both Take and Hallosh were exactly what he needed to overcome his terror of the Alasharians.

With each installment of this series, I actually feel more and more sad for the Alasharians who have succumbed to the Void. Under its influence they choose to commit acts that would have horrified and revolted them before. I wonder if there is some part of the Nall, trapped inside, screaming in horror at his actions. It definitely would be something that I think that the Void would delight in.

Loving this series

I haven't been a fan of Morgan so far. He acted awful to Chris. I understand but I still didn't like it. He seemed to start to come around in the last book and I'm glad he found his mates here. I was worried that this book would focus more on Morgan and his mates and we would lose the perspective of Chris and his mates. So I was really happy to get a well rounded story with all of them. I love how this story arc is progressing and I'm dying to find out what happens next.

Book Three in Ms. Knight's series makes the segue from one main character to a secondary character. She does so in a way where you don't feel like its a handoff. The universe she built up in Books One and Two, as well as the underlying threat, has become much more fleshed out. It was enjoyable to stay immersed in her story, as Book Two also ended with a cliffhanger.

Still not the end.

I am still hanging with this serial/series. It is more serial than series because it doesn't end. Not my favorite thing. I find it very frustrating that I have to buy yet another book. Hopefully the next one will be the last. If not. . .
