“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” - C.S. Lewis
Unforgiveness is a prison, a torturer. It will rob us of our joy, peace and even physical health. Jesus knew mankind and he knew that a great problem that many deal with is forgiving others. It is one of our Lord’s primary teachings and the apostles were very keen to this.
In Finding Freedom from Unforgiveness, Greg Gordon shows some keys from Scripture to help us be free and release others. Do you find it hard to forgive other brothers and sisters in the Lord? Do you find it hard to love others in the body of Christ because of hurtful things that were done to you? Are you speaking evil of those brothers and sisters and judging them? This book will help.
Dated. Good, biblical basics, but I'll find out the publishing date. The stars are for the word and for the concept quoted about how to handle conflicts in a church. Accountability partnerships not dealt with. Author isn't a psychologist, so the Jezebels are not dealt with (how to handle psychopaths in leadership). I walked away, but that's because no pastor here lives as a disciple of Jesus that've I've met in churches here. They are liars and try to appear correct and blameless above all, even if lives are lost. It's corrupt here and it's been this way for so long that it shocks me. It's so extreme, it is part of the reason we have the world's highest heroin overdose, and people are not involved with their neighbours. We live remote, which not just everyone cares to do. It's also a sign of the times. Nobody has the guts to change things. I get why people form small house churches due to political trailing taproots.
Emphasizing the importance of Forgiveness from the perspective of Christianity. Holding on to rage and allowing it to fester will lead to one's own destruction rather than the much-desired vengeance. It is expected to experience unpleasant feelings throughout one's life, however, one should acknowledge their own contributions to other people's hurt and not only focus on the ones that have been done to them. Through humbling oneself in prayer, the author quotes from the bible that one can receive forgiveness from an omnibenevolent deity.
This is short and sweet book on forgiveness that pairs well with the recent book I read titled, “Unpacking Forgiveness.” This was a light listen that summarized what what forgiveness is and why we ought to forgive using biblical instructions from Christ. While this book does not cover the “complexity” of forgiveness it is a great starter point to understand exactly what forgiveness is and Gods expectation when it comes to forgiving others.
Painful to read when wrestling with the bitterness of unforgiveness, but so much light and insight on the truth of the destruction it causes. Thank you for speaking the truth and helping others to be set free. I will reread this book again as I wrestle with painful memories attached to unforgiveness. The words of Christ referenced in this book are powerful.
Fantastic! Simply fantastic! Everyone will have to overcome unforgiveness in their life! This book is a great look into what unforgiveness looks like and why it’s so dangerous! It’s convicting without condemnation. It’s encouraging without watering down the importance of forgiving others. It’s challenging without being over bearing! Great, short, read!
I listened to this book and You can conclude this book in these few sentences : -We must forgive because our god forgives us! -Unforgiveness like poison -Think about how many sins you have done -Forgive and pray for who have hurt us and bring back peace
