I really liked this book - a food memoir - who would have thought??
A short, light read, but in no way lacking. what an amazing time she lived in.
I have to admit it though, when I downloaded this book, I actually did hope it would contain an apple crumble recipe my partner would favor. (I can never make it like his Nan). But this book addresses why you really shouldn't do that and I nearly fell off my chair laughing about the irony. Not what I was expecting, this book has everything!! She's right though - You'll never make it the way they love. After reading this book I'll be making each recipe my own so everyone else can get hassled to try and emulate mine instead of the other way around, and I'm not just talking about apple crumble. A gentle reminder that this is how we should be living life in general. I loved her courage, bravery and individuality.
P.S. Trying the recipe tonight!
