You ever fall in love with someone and wish they came with a warning that said, 'I only came into your life to Mess it up and I don't plan on staying?' That's how Aja and Kenzy feel when the two people they became dependent upon, plays them. Soon her and Aja decide to take charge of their lives, Scheming a come up of a lifetime but can the money buy their happiness ? Wanting more out of life than a hood degree, Aja finds herself on a ploy to leveling up her education, swearing she is done with Half. That was easier said than done, after Half catches wind of her back on the dating scene. Ready to right his wrongs, Half tries desperately to win back his first true love even if it means making a fool of himself in the process. Can they get it right, or will they do more harm than good? The battle of chasing love and money weigh on both Pistol and Half after being appointed to head of 730. Neither expected their lives to take a turn for the worse but when the people affiliated to 730 begin plotting against them, they soon rethink their decision. Following up parts 1&2, comes a emotional authentic tale where young couples battle every day life in the hood. While they all know they'd be better off without the extraness that they continue to selfishly chase after it. sometimes the only option is to leave when the person you love is too content finding faults in you.
I'm so proud of Kenzy and Aja! It was about time, that Kenzy started to respect herself, and for Aja to put herself first. Kenzy and Aja had been through a lot, more than the average young ladies their age, but they still manage to stay strong. Each of them had their moment of giving up, but they found the strength to keep on fighting. The loyalty between the two of them never waivered, and that was so refreshing.
Pistol and Half finally grew up! The level of pettiness was at it's highest, and in order for the relationships to work, someone in each of the relationships had to be the bigger person. All of the negative back and forth, was both mentally, and emotionally draining. At a certain point, both of the young men were in denial that they were in love, but a blind person could see and feel the love between the two couples. I'm also glad that they both found the person that was responsible for the uncle's death.
Ju disappointed me the most. Sometimes it take for the person to leave, for you to realize what you had. Yonni was young, but she was loyal, and she loved Ju with everything in her. He claimed he loved her, but his actions didn't show that. He was severely flawed, but there moment Yonni made a mistake, he couldn't find it in his heart to forgive her, like she had done for himendlessly. He never was a father to his son, and selfishly ended his own life. He made his bed hard, and it should have owned it, and accepted responsibility for his actions.
My heart went out to Yonni. She definitely deserved happiness, but instead, she became a single mother. I thought that Geo should've stayed with Yonni. Running away didn't change the fact of the damage already done. If anything, they could have at least tried to see what the future between the two of them would be like, but Geo just up and left.
I gave it for stars due to all the typos, and misspellings. Kenzy was sometimes Kezny, and Uncle Murdock's name changed so much, I'm not sure if I even spelled it correctly. The storyline was really good, and I know that Karma Monae is an amazing author..... I've read almost all of her other books. I would still recommend this book to other readers, so thank you.
This was really good and I was very pleased with the ending. For a minute I thought Aja and Half weren't going to get back together but I'm so glad they did because the were made for each other plus Half is sexy lol. Kenzy and Pistol that's a wholeeeeeee nother story but they made it through. Felt bad that Saheem had to get his heart broken through the process but that's what happens when only ones person heart is into it. I was hit left field with Yonni and Geo situation but the way Geo left was kind of shady. I don't feel like Yonni should feel bad for what she did it's just the person she did it with but all in all she's still handling her responsibilities as a mother and that's all that matter. Ju just a straight up punk, just like that. Overall this was a good read.
This is my first time reading this author....This series had a lot of errors but it didn't take away from understanding the words..The storyline was great it was right on point..What these ladies and gentleman went through was a life changing thing for each and everyone of them...Aja and half was true soul mates I love the ending for them and happy they stay true to their hearts about the true love they have for each other...Kenz and pistol was meant to be together no matter what they been through hell and high water and still over came it all..I really enjoyed this series..True Hood Love Story!!!
Well overall the book was an amazing read i couldn't put it down ,It was a very touchy story with a great outcome ,this story showed that no one should ever be judged cause no-one knows the other story,I laughed but I cried harder cause them young ladies had a battle that they're fighting hard and without the love of their friendship and their love ones I don't think they survived ,I'm so Happy they found themselves and love along the way cause I was writing for the best .... Thank you for that awesome read and I have recommended to others whom I sure will enjoy it....
The story line was great but it was hard to get through the grammatical errors which, unfortunately, was worse in the 3rd book. This is an issue in urban literature that is not experienced in other genre of literature and urban authors/editors have to start working harder to fix this issue. My goal for this year is to read 100 urban books, however, this will be hard if I have to spend the time deciphering what is been said. Why did Maci leave Aja at the fire station?
The characters in this book was stupid as hell. Also toooooo many grammatical errors. I would not recommend reading this stupid axx book. I had to literally push myself to try to insert what I thought the author was trying to say just to try to finish reading. But I failed miserably, I couldn't finish. Toxicity and domestic violence overload. SMH. And let's be clear my low review is because of the errors in editing and the flow of the book. The storylines and undeniable horrible relationships were just icing on top.
The ending to this series was great! There were a few times I couldn't stop laughing and there were a few times I wanted to shed tears. Pistol, Kenzy, Half and Aja went through a lot but also grew in the end. The situation with Ju was crazy, but what was even more crazier was the situation with Yonni and Geo. I enjoyed the storyline with Saheem and Kenzy as well as Syheed and Penny. Great ending to a great series!
The wait for this book was definitely worth it. I loved seeing the growth in the characters. Half and Pistol grew allll the way up, and that was sexier than any looks. I was really proud of Aja and Kenzy. The deserved the happiness that they finally found. This was a great series!
This was the best out the series because it brought the real into all star fictional story. I saw a lot of my struggles along with a lot of my peers struggle as I turn the page. I give it 4 stars because it didn't go in details more on how Aja'nai became Maci child's daughter and what persuaded Maci to get clean.
It was an very good read. Even though it had a lot of errors throughout the whole series. It didn't take away from the story line. I'm really happy with the growth that came from all of them. I'm happy they got happy endings. I'm sad Saheem didn't get his. He really was a good dude. I'm also sad about Geo & Yonni but I also understand why it was left at that.
I loved everything about this entire series! It was so real it was ridiculous. Kenzy and Aja would have been my girls back in the day. Half and Pistol are bae! They grew to responsible and mature men. If you love real and raw, do yourself a favor and read this series.
I must say this was a banger I loved the girls Independence but was happy when they finally realized love conquer all.....great job ladies y'all are fire with those pens.....Storm Deverauxx
I loved it been waiting so long for pt 3 everything turned out how I wanted it to be everyone is happy and that's all that matters in the end even tho I'm sad that this is the end 😭😭
Omgeee!!! This finale done took me down thru there...it's late..I'm paraphrasing...anyway...I loved this ending...they went through soo much...my girls truly got it out the mud...Pistol and Half were both crazy af...but the Zaddy equally...lol great job Karma
Karma Monae and Koya definitely came through and shut it down with their pen game. This finale definitely had my emotions all over the place!l, it's packed with drama, but the outcome is great!
It's so bittersweet to see my selfish crew done . Karma you really finished it with growth of characters and I really enjoyed it . I took a half a star away for the errors . Karma Monae never disappoints one of my favorite authors . Can't wait for the next book
This entire series was very well written. I felt as though I watching a movie, or as if I knew them personally. I loved me some Half... I cried while reading most of the book. Thank you ladies this book was so bomb
This series was very long but worth every second. I love this book. To watch the drama, extra drama then growth of EACH main character was great. Every young woman (and young man) needs to read this book.
This was a great ending to the series but please get a competent editor. The typos and shifts in story line are what kept this from getting 5 stars. A good editor can fix that.
This was a great series but my favorite couple I wished you let stay together was Kenzy and Saheed I think he was a better man. I also like Aja with Duece but I guess it had to be some drama in the story but over all you did a amazing job!
Okay Now that was the way a ending suppose to be ! I believe you do have to leave a person so that you can grow & come back later for relationship these couples went through it all lost people & still gain some !
This was a really great COMPLETED series. It kept me entertained and I couldn’t put it down. It was drama and had some funny parts too. That Kenzy is my favorite she ain’t wrapped to tight.
Finishing this book was like getting teeth pulled, with no anesthesia. It seemed like every other paragraph had a spelling or grammatical error! I’m convinced the 4/5 stars are from family and friends. If I had paid for this, Amazon would be giving me a refund.
Pros- a lengthy book, solid plot, well developed characters Cons - editing errors (Howard Community College instead of Howard University - nobody caught that?)
This last installment to the series was everything & more I could honestly relate to all the characters especially Aja great job as always to these ladies
