Yvette

I’m his Ivy.
I was broken, battered, and scarred. But Master X told me he could make me whole again.
He said that pleasure could be derived from pain.
He said he could make me crave what I fear the most.
I didn’t believe him, but now I can only be described as one thing.
His Painslut.

Xavier.

I’m her Master.
The one chose to rehabilitate her.
I didn’t know that while doing so, I’d make the biggest discovery of all.
That by rehabilitating her, I could find my real purpose in life.
To be a dominate to one woman, that deserves everything I can give her.

descriptionGreat cover on this one. Sexy like the story. Good composition and I LOVE the title work.description

descriptionI enjoyed this one. It was SUPER short but well written. It was sexy, but really didn't have any sex scenes which was a little bit odd, but I didn't miss them too much. Both main characters were likable. BTW Jasmine is NOT the heroine. I have seen a lot of reviews mentioning her like she was. Yvette is the heroine. That said, I REALLY want to know why Jasmine didn't show up for her last meeting with Master X. Enquiring minds want to know!

Hopefully, there will be more books coming in this series, and they will be full-length ones. Two thumbs up from yours truly.description

4 unforgettable stars

I was impressed with this novel. L. M. Roberts took a sensitive subject , one of the need for pain to gain pleasure, and brought it in the open for all to see while removing the stigma that goes with it. Too often many confuse or perceive abuse when consent is and should always be present in any BDSM (and consequently any type ) relationship , which is what's at the forefront of these types of stories -Trust.

4.5 sexy dreams

This may have been a short read, but L. M. Roberts talks about all the issues that is involved with debilitating experiences and how they can affect you both emotionally and physically. We're shown just how much a person can endure before they crack , just how far they'll go to be whole again and just how difficult it is to start over and learn once again how to trust. This story touched me in so many ways, both from personal experiences and those l've heard from close friends. It was emotional, nerve racking and so very much that train ride of emo that I was gasping for all sorts of reasons that I couldn't wait to find out just how this story will end. Considering just how much I liked this story I highly doubt it'll be my last from this author from now on.

I enjoyed this story a lot. I thought Jasmine and the new Dom really worked well together. The sexiness really shined through in this novel. I also liked learning about her backstory. I only wish it was a longer book and that I got to see more interaction between the two both in the sheets and out. Overall a good read for those in need of something kinky!

I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

Dominant Master X, real name Xavier, and submissive Yvette meet “on the job.” Master X is a BDSM rehabilitation expert—he takes submissives with problems and helps them recover emotionally so that they can once again enter the world of BDSM more confident. Yvette is a submissive who is in need of rehabilitation. Her former Master and partner performed a scene, using techniques he was not familiar with, that caused her physical injury and accompanying mental trauma. She has grown fearful of pain and no longer trusts. When her therapist recommends she see Master X, Yvette is hesitant, but does so anyway.

Their connection is instant—it is love, or lust, at first sight. Master X finds that it is hard to rehabilitate a woman whose trust issue centers on pain when he is a sadist. They take it step by step, but it is hard for Yvette to overcome the hurdle of her fear, and Master X is frustrated to a degree that she won’t let him push her boundaries to show her that pleasure can be “derived” from pain. When Yvette finally does learn to trust Master X, she finds the rewards are greater than anything she could imagine.

Painslut is a short and sexy novella. It is erotic and emotional, but doesn’t include graphic sex scenes—a bit of naughty language is as dirty as the story gets. A lot is implied and spoken of after the fact, but the actual acts the two perform are left to the imagination. This may appeal to the reader who is looking for some dark erotica but not something graphic in nature.

I also want to commend the author for her knowledge of BDSM—she presented the culture accurately. She was able to impart to the reader that BDSM is about consent and trust, boundaries and respect. As opposed to other BDSM novels that often feature extreme and dangerous storylines where Masters often break trust and readers, who may not know much about BDSM, think that this is how BDSM is meant to be. Which can lead to their own participation being dangerous and toxic. The author clearly did her research and understood the essential and most fundamental rules of BDSM, and for that reason I think Painslut should be respected within the genre.

Jasmine has literally been broken by her Dom, and through lots of therapy, she's been basically ordered to go to Master X. There her therapist believes that maybe some of her mental scars will be healed. Xavier is Master X, and been chosen to rehabilitate her. It backfires on him when he realizes that through healing her, he's been given a new purpose in his life. I really enjoy L.M. Roberts talented writing style, but in MY OPINION, that means this is how I FEEL, the short length took away a few important things for me. For one thing, I just didn't quite imprint on Jasmine and Dom, although Jasmine's past did hurt my heart. However, the insane sparks weren't missing, as they shot out of my kindle, but I wanted more sexy time. Once again, IN MY OPINION, there should be more to their story, as her scars are intense, (HINT HINT), and I would be first in line for more! With that being said, that doesn't change the fact that her writing still was enjoyable to me with this original story, so I will HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I have never given a rating this low to a book before and yet...
This book could do with a serious editing. Some basic rules such as apostrophes are not used to show plurals. Words used incorrectly eg "Impertinent to your recovery", as opposed to "important" or even "imperative".
Also, this feels more like an outline of a book. I get that it is marketed as a novella but emotions, feelings, and entire chunks of time that are actually relevant to the story are omitted. The characters go from phase one where they are stuck for some time straight to phase 3 and 4 in the space of a couple of pages. None really have any emotional awareness and so the reader feels like they have been shown this story in the space of a few clips instead of the whole thing.
I love the premise of this book so much - having received a similar injury to the main character albeit in a different way, that it would have been nice to see some of her emotions tackled. As opposed to "I can't, I cant, I can't" "Yeah you can," "ok I can."

I loved the blurb….the Master/sub aspect made this move up to the top of my TBR.

So, the basic plot was good and not what I expected at all. I enjoyed the way Yvette was trying to recover from the horrible abuse her ex put her through and I loved the way X was strong and sensitive at the same time. It was an amazing journey that they both took to realize the they were truly a perfect pair.

Yes, it was more of a short story. Which can be good and bad. We don’t quite get as deep in the characters, but at the same time the story is straight and to the point without a ton of extra fluff. I can’t wait to read more of this series.

Hero 5 stars / Heroine 5 / Steam 5 stars / Plot 5 stars / Overall 5 Stars

Jasmine has been broken. Her previous Dom broke her and left. She is trying to pick up the pieces but she still has issues about being in that life again. She is referred to Master X to undo the harm that has been done to her. He is enthralled with her from the beginning. When she safe words him, his hearts breaks. Can she give this training another go or will she be stuck in a life of fear forever? Excellent short story. The storyline has a lot of compassion and a great message.

Painslut is the story of Ivy relearning to love what she needs. She was broken and needs help gluing the pieces back together.

X is a dominant. He helps women who need to be submissive. He nurtures them and pushes them.

A quick novella, it's a lot more emotional than I was expecting. The push and pull inside Ivy, as she tries to get her nerve back had me hooked. I wish there was a little more at the end, I wanted to know what happened in the future.

This is a short sexy novella. Yvette is a submissive who has been damaged by a scene and is in need to rehabilitation. Xavier is a Dom who is an expert in rehabilitation. There is an instant intense attraction between these two. Can Yvette overcome her trust issues? No spoilers you really need to read this for yourself! This is a well written, emotional, erotic and intriguing story. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This is a bdsm novella that is about a women who was severally hurt in a D/s relationship and not only is physically hurt, but emotionally hurt. Her therapists suggests a bdsm club and Master X who helps Submissive s get back to what they love and crave. Yvette wants to not fear pain, and .Master X wants to give it to her.

This story is short and sweet, but I can see how it could easily be turned into a full light series. The writing was really well done. In a short amount of time the characters had a chemistry and a personality that the reader could relate to, but then too soon the story was concluded. I wish there was more! That's often a great sign of a great story, one by an even greater author.
