How long does it take for ‘astounding’ to become ‘normal’? Three weeks after returning from her last mission, Stassi 2446-89 is finally ready to move on from the events in Paris, with one exception: the hitchhiker, Charles DuPree. Now living on Branson Isle and training to become the Atlic Syndicate’s newest Runner, Charles must adjust to life five hundred years in the future before he can travel the timewaves into the past. But when it's time for a training run in 2465 Manhattan, a ghost from her past makes Stassi question everything.
Legends Untold (Timewaves #3) Releases on July 25, 2017!
Author of twenty-six books in six series, Sophie Davis is a pseudonym for best friends turned co-authors. The pair met in law school and instantly bonded over their love of great books and bad horror movies. When one longed for the ability to read minds so she wouldn't have to study for the bar exam, they created a dystopian world with superpowers that spans nine books.
While writing in genres of paranormal romance, time travel, urban fantasy, and mystery, their works have been optioned for film and translated for an international audience. You can find them teaching their dogs to enter wormholes in the desert of Southern California.
Thankfully the angsty romantic uncertainty with the MC, Stassi, that was annoying me cleared up around the 20% mark, and I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Not quite as much as the first one, but still liked it and am now reading book three.
One thing I really like about Stassi is that she has a lot of empathy. Even when she was doubtful of wanting a relationship with the LI (though clearly attracted to him, and vice versa), she was able to put herself in his shoes, and snapped herself out of being unfairly cold to him, treated him as a friend, and had understanding for his situation.
And again, this story contains a romantic angle, but it's not a huge focus, which I also appreciated.
This book covers an interesting heist that takes place in their current day, the future. No time travel then, but a lot of fun and imaginative high tech to play with.
Overall a satisfying read. Although, dang it, it ends in a bit of a cliff hanger. Main present plot is resolved, but then there's a bit more that occurs that is of the "To Be Continued" type.
In this sequel to The Syndicate (aka one of my favorite books last year) Stassi is back to the future, her present, only to be confronted by her past. Confused yet? Welcome to time travel.
This is a gorgeous and thrilling future, full of accessible tech used in fabulous ways, and we get to see Stassi take advantage of it. We also get a closer look at the life that could have been hers, in the less glamorous dystopian parts of this post apocalyptic future, if she hadn't met Cyrus and become a runner.
This was a wonderful follow up to the first book, where we discover a more vulnerable side to Stassi while still getting to enjoy her signature quips.
I have been waiting eagerly for this book to come out. Not only that, but the fact that book three is released only a number of days after this one made me a very happy reader.
This book is a bit different in that Stassi and her fellow runners don’t actually jump to a different time period in this one. Instead, she is thrown into something new with people she wouldn’t have dreamt of having involved. She discovers that her past is not so easy to leave behind as reminders from her life before come back to haunt her.
I absolutely love the authors and their ability to come up with storylines such as this. I read it in one sitting and am now desperately waiting for book three to arrive.
Got into reading this one after I read the first book in series and got hooked to every twist in it.
However, I am frustrated with the fact that the Quad has already moved on to a new mission after Governer's Gala, without telling us about the package Stassi retrieved from the basement storage. I can't focus!! Atleast tell us it has been acknowledged by someone in the team. (Edit: this gets solved later in the book....but much...much later)
Question If runners can time travel to a specific place on a specific date, then scenario
- if runners travel to a place, let's say, on 3rd April 1800, then return to branson on 5th April 1800. Then again travel to 3rd april 1800, would there be two sets of same runners in that time? Edit: (this question gets answered in book 4)
Observation Trista's change of heart is so surprising and not at all believable considering how much she hated Stassi and venom she was spewing in just their first encounter after getting separated at work camp. If she believed Stassi was Cyrus's concubine, then she should have had sympathy for her considering her own situation with Felix. Also, how did Felix and Trista know about Atlic's business if syndicates kept a low profile from outsiders?

I got to be honest. Compared to The Syndicate, Atlic was kind of a let down. Not in a big way and not in any way that made me disappointed in the outcome. It just wasn’t what I had expected after such a dramatic and thrilling first book. Maybe it isn’t fair of me to judge the book by my own high expectations, but even looking at the story with an open perspective the story was tame compared to the action-packed first book.
With such a beautifully and cleverly written story I was so excited to read the next installment, especially with that powerful and unanswered ending. Little did I know that those slowly revealing mysteries, like the connections to the jewelry, Stassi’s heritage and why Charles was allowed to stay, that made me hold on for dear life would stay solidly unanswered and almost untouched throughout Atlic. Those mysteries were what kept me truly invested in the story and while I am all for the enigmas building up, in this book they stood completely still.
Atlic was more focused on Stassi’s past and what would had been her future had she not had luck on her side. I did like that I got to see more of her life as a camp kid and what happened to people who did not get as lucky as her. It shone some light on her background that I felt was missing in the first book and it made her a much more complex character. However, digging into her past did not give any answers to the mysteries I was waiting for. It was almost like they were all forgotten for the time being and it wasn’t until the ending that I at least got some clue for the whole jewelry business.
There is a balance to enigmas. Reveal to quickly and you don’t give the reader the time to get hooked or invested enough to care. Reveal too slowly and the reader will sooner or later lose interest all together. A good book, like the Syndicate, will be in the middle balancing it perfectly. Atlic however was really toeing the line of the latter. If it weren’t for the revelation in the end to said jewelry mystery I might not consider continuing with the series.
It also didn’t help that the biggest unanswered question, as to why Charles got to become a runner and what transpired between him and Cyrus, was left in the air like nothing. That should have had a big impact on the story and in the relationship between him and Stassi. There was some tenseness and reservations between them, but that was it. It was handled as such a minor issue in the story that it was almost not there. Even Charles role in the story felt minor even as he was one of the main characters. He was often quietly in the background and easily forgotten and when he was in the center his personality resembled almost the opposite from his personality in The Syndicate. He acted very childlike, with a lack of a better word. That, plus Stassi’s there-but-not-focused-at-all-on reservations towards him made the romance a huge snooze fest.
I make it sound like I hated Atlic, but believe me, that is far from the truth. I enjoyed the romance that I did get, as well as, the action, twists and the light on Stassi’s past, as well as some descriptions of the future the book takes place in. I am happy with the story. However not as exhilarated as I was with the first book, mainly because all of the unanswered questions I had are still just as unanswered. I had come up with some of my own theories, for example Cyrus either being Stassi’s father or at least knows something about it and J. Jacobson in that case being her mother. I really want to know if I am either very clever or very off the mark and Atlic did not help me get closer to that answer. Hopefully Legends Untold will.
http://fallenoverbookreviews.blogspot... I received an ARC copy of this book. Love where this book ends! I am very intrigued to the answers Stassi and now Charles are looking for. They seem to get closer but then yet something else gets thrown into the mix and they get pulled a step back. Stassi and her friends will be taking on a new running job and they get to play with new technology which they all love even Molly, Stassi's best friend who is also her roommate on the island. A person from Stassi's past will come back into her life and Stassi can't help but to help her, though she knows she did nothing wrong by getting the job with Cyrus. I have never really been a big fan of time travel books but this series is well written, and doesn't get you lost in how exactly is all works. On top of the time traveling for jobs that the runners do, I love the mystery that Stassi and now Charles are trying to figure out that has to do with their jewelry. As far as characters go the author does a great job with their different personalities, especially Charles as he is from a different time period but is a pretty quick study on learning! I am very interested to see the story on why Charles is getting to stay, as he tell Stassi that isn't his story to tell. If you haven't picked up the first book I suggest you give it a read! It is a good teen/ya time traveling read. My favorite quote in the book, "It was like reading a great book: each reread was exciting, but it never compared to the first go-through, when the words were new and the ending was still a mystery."
The story continues where it left off in book 1. The story moves us along with Stassi's search for her birth parents, with her friends Molly and Gaige along to help, and the new addition of Charles. The world building continues with a look into current day New York and all of the peculiarities that exist outside of Branson and the work camps that Stassi was used to, and completely different from what Charles had known.
Stassi and team return to Branson with Charles, but it is not business as usual. For one, Charles was a new and unexpected addition to the team and needs a different kind of training to blend in. For another, Stassi needs to come to grips with almost dying. Although trained for the possibility, not something any of the runners ever want to think will happen to them. They train extensively to minimize the risks, but no one expected Baylarian. To complicate matters, Stassi has to deal with reminders of her life at the work camp and what she's left behind. As the team works to get Charles acclimated, Stassi also has to work through her feelings for Charles and their shared search for more information around the jewelry pieces they both have and what that link signifies.
Atlic is focused more on the present rather than the jumps to the past like the last book. It moves forward, but at a good pace to show how the characters work through the varied situations, but also gives some closure. There are definitely some open points that lead us into the next book, but at least we've learned a few things and the bonds between the 4 main characters grows.
Wow that was a quite interesting book. I can't believe all the things that has happened in this one. To be honest not a if my theories came out to be true but some did, and I have some theories for the third book that actually are very likely to be true. 😆 Can we stop and talk about Stassi and Charles for a second. To be honest I'm really scraped that Charles is gonna came out to be Stassi's great great great great great (??) Grandfather.😁😂 That would be really interesting. Omg think about it ohh God. But beside that I like their relationship and I like how it is not so fictional, like it's not like they met, love at first sight, and now they're together. They both have different and complicated feeling about each other but I kind of hope at the end they end up together. 💕 But I also hope that Charles goes back to his time (unless the reason that Cyrus let him stay at time is - something so weird and complicated and also makes sense a lot - the reason that he can't actually go back to his time.🤔 Ok am I the only one who thinks Cyrus sounds hot 🤪😁 but of course he is old (well not that old but you know what I mean) but he just sounds so perfect and the way his relationship with Stassi and the team, as if he is their father or something, it's just great. 💕 I also totally ship Molly and Gaige. They sound great together.💕 I really can't wait to read the third books and get answers to my questions. 💕😇
Atlic by Sophie Davis and narrated by Alison Schonhoff is the second book in the Timewave Series. The narrator is amazing with her ability to give different voices and demeanor to each character, based on how the author has written them. THIS is an excellent pairing that I am hoping to see much more of in the future. Stassi, our FMC comes out of the vortex with more than her partner. Charles convinces Cyrus to let him stay in 2464, and become a runner. Cyrus also decides to expand the partnership of Stassi and Gage, to a quad, including Molly, Stassi's best friend and roommate and Charles, the stowaway and the man who is stealing Stassi's heart. This book keeps us in the "present", and is the first run of the quad. But, as with everything surrounding Stassi, something goes very wrong, and someone from her past shows up. Finding herself in a sealed box, Stassi is moved out of harms way, while she is losing oxygen. She also rescues the person from her past, even though Molly says she isn't worth saving. At the end , everyone is back on the island, waiting for the next shoe to drop. Which drops with a carryover from book one. Would I listen to this book again? YES Would I recommend this book to others? YES, along with the entire series so far released on audio. I highly recommend this book/series to anyone who likes history and the twists an extraordinary author can write, and an amazingly talented narrator can bring to life.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
This was a nice sequel to the Syndicate and while I liked it and there were some really fun scenes I just didn’t love it the way I did the first one. Mostly because I love the time travel aspect and as this one takes place in Stassi’s time there wasn’t any of that to enjoy. Sure the future where Stassi lives was interesting and imaginative BUT its a book about time travelling thieves so I want time travel! The other main gripe I had was none of the questions left hanging at the end of book one are addressed. We don’t find out why Charles was allowed to stay and there if very little in the way of progress in Stassi’s hunt for answers about her past.
I did enjoy the glimpses we got of Stassi’s life before she became a time travelling thief and I still love the friendship between Molly & Stassi. In terms of romance Charles is fine but I was too distracted by my annoyance of not knowing why he stayed/was allowed to stay – waiting for the other show to drop so to speak to really become invested in his character or their relationship.
Unlike The Syndicate, Atlic takes place in Stassi’s current time (our future), and I really enjoyed learning more about Stassi’s day-to-day life when she and her friends are not on a run as well as witnessing Charles’ acclimation to his new life.
In this installment, we get more clues regarding Stassi’s past, new and old villains of the bizarre variety (you are missing out on The Dollhouse if you do not buy this), very trippy scenes that will cause your imagination to go into overdrive, a little bit of romance (I am the one that needs a fainting couch for all of my Charles-induced swooning), clever dialogue (Gaige is incorrigible and absolutely hilarious in this one), and an incredible ending that continues to give me goosebumps every time I think about it. The next in series cannot come soon enough!
I highly recommend continuing the Timewaves series. I like it so much more than The Chronos Files series; therefore, if you like that one, you are going to love this!
First, I think I am supposed to tell you that I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. Thank you Sophie's! Well, I was entertained. Though, not as entertained as I was reading The Syndicate. The story flowed nicely and we got a little more insight into the world. The world building through this series has been very slow and we have only been given details as they are needed, which is nice because then I don't get a "world building overload"!
The slowly building romances between Stassi & Charles and Molly & Gaige are nice side stories to add a tiny bit of drama. It is great to read a book that has the idea of romance. The love interests are NOT the focus at all. BUT In true Sophie's form, we have a wonderful cliffhanger (though this is a mild one) and still have tons of unanswered questions. Both of these keep on the hook and ready to dive into Legends Untold!
What a hook to end the book with!! Gosh this book brought back so many old memories for Stassi. I highly recommend that you also read/listen to the prequel so you can get a better understanding of Stassi’s past. You don’t have too but it’s connected to what happens in this book and I prefer to know the history. I was happy to see a certain guy in this book and I can’t wait to see what happens next!! The narrator was fabulous but there was some issues I had while listening to the book. There was some sort of static distortion at the end of a chapter. It happened occasionally but I caught it a few times. I also caught phrases 2-3 words that were repeated. Where the editing wasn’t done correctly. With that being said I truly loved the narrator. She has Stassi’s voice and she did great portraying the other characters. That’s the reason I give it 4 stars instead 3.5 because the narrator truly brings the story to life. I received a free copy of this title in exchange for my honest review.
Luckily I just got an Amazon.com alert recommending book 3 Legends Untold, thereby letting me know it was already available. A good thing, too, as Sophie's masterful ending makes me anxious to continue Stassi's story without delay. I have already downloaded it! In some ways Atlic followed the pattern of most second books in three-book series and felt to be somewhat of a placeholder. None of my burning questions from book one were answered. What is Charles' secret? What is Cyrus' story? Those answers will evidently wait till book 3. But Atlic did fill in a lot of Stassi's backstory and we were able to get more of a feeling of the "present-day" world she lives in. But now to find the answers to those questions (and see if any of my theories are correct). On to Legends Untold!
Great, fast read! Escape for a while in the futuristic, fantastical world of Stassi 2446-89 as she begins to uncover clues to her elusive ancestry. Love that we get a closer glimpse into her cryptic past while still enjoying the fun, entertaining adventure of yet another Syndicate (although present day) assignment. If you loved Timeswave #1 "The Syndicate," you will love the 2nd book as the characters continue to develop and evolve. Between Gaige's innuendo and cheap humor, Charles as he begins to embrace modern traditions and slang, and Molly who is always ready to throw down for her best friend-- there's plenty to love! Can't wait to find out what Stassi and her team have in store! Good thing Sophie Davis released the next book! .... starting it now!
Finished "The Syyndicate" before this one was published. Preordered it with eager anticipation of its release. Finally, came out but it was well worth the wait. I absolutely could not put it down. Time travel stories have been one of the few areas of science fiction I enjoy reading. This series, and the "Missing" series by Margaret Peterson Haddix are, in my humble opinion, the absolute best. Who wouldn't love to travel throughout time, have great partners, and work for Cyrus. The best of all worlds rolled into one. I also love how the authors keep us coming back for more. Can't wait to find out what else Stassi will learn about the origins of her necklace, and who her parent's are/were. Now, off to read book 3.
I really like this series and have waited for this second book Atlic to appear in Kindle Unlimited. Stassi and Charles get to spend more time together and the Quad is formed. Stassi , Charles, Gaige and Molly get to have a trial run in Manhattan in their own time. There are lots of gadgets and close calls but Stassi is successful. Stassi continues to try to solve the mystery of her necklace and Charle's watch with the help of her friends. The interplay between the charcters is great along with the great dialogue. I believe this series would make a great movie or television series. I will definitely read part three.
Hmm, this book was a fun read, but I really missed the historical setting from the first book. While having more world building from Stassi's "real" time was interesting, I kept thinking as I was reading it: "get to the part about her parents and the mystery of the jewelry". I also didn't really feel the connection between Stassi and Charles, especially when compared to Stassi's connections with Molly and Gaige. I will be reading the 3rd book in the series, and hope that it will go back to a historical setting, while still furthering the mystery of J. Jacobson.
Sophie Davis just never lets you down! I'm hooked. After I read The Syndicate I couldn't wait for Atlic to be released and it truly felt like years went by as I often visited their website for news of the release and just as with The Syndicate, Atlic was a rapid, page turning, edge of my seat, couldn't put it down at 3 a.m. when my eyes are rolling in the back of my head super great book! Lol. Great job Sophie Davis for creating yet another great story. I recommend this series to anyone of any age who enjoys reading. You won't be disappointed.
I have had a hard time getting into this series and I have no idea why. I like the characters, and the thought of the story, but I feel like not a lot happens in this book. I also feel like poor Charles gets pushed to the back ground when I thought there would be more information about him since he did just end up in a whole new place. There are some events that caught my attention, but then it leveled back off to me struggling to finish. All in all, not a bad book but was left feeling a little disappointed.
Fun. Down to earth heroine, but a bit morally confused. The only criticism i have is the characters sarcasm and immature dialog. But wait, this crime syndicate is stocked with barely legal drinking age thieves. And smart ones at that. The premise for this series is delightful original. Capital original! Begin with the first and read on! No spoilers here, if you would like to go on an adventure with challenges and twist , here you are. Nothing is so simple for our characters. I find this series to be clever with some sci-fi that isn't dense.
The thing I like about a book series is that the story continues so you don’t have to bid the characters farewell. Atlic picks up where the first book left off. The characters I’d grown to like so much stay in their own time as they train Charles. They go on a mission that gets a little dicey sending the reader’s heart rate up a bit. The mystery of finding information about Stassi’s parents continues as well. All I have left to say now is - on to book 3!
I received and ARC for my honest review. I have enjoyed every Sophie book I've read and Atlic is no exception. Their writing style, plot and character developments enhance the storyline. I really enjoy Stassi's personality and liked learning a bit about her past. The budding romance between her an Charles is sweet, but she needs to stop resisting:) Their adventure was in her time, but, I would've preferred travel into the past. Nonetheless, I will be waiting for the next book.
I liked the first novel and enjoyed this one as well. I am intrigued by the winding tale Stassi and friends are following and look forward to Book 3 to see what happens next. My only concern is that it may drag on too long or be a never ending series. I like when things can wrap up and leave the reader with some closure with characters and a story. I'm sure I'll enjoy several more installments to come!
After the events of the first book in 1925 France, back in 2465, Stassi and her friends are now part of the Syndicate’s first quad team, with Gaige, Molly, and Charles. To test their team’s capabilities, and Charle’s ability to blend into an unfamiliar environment, they are set up on a mission in their own time. This book seems more intended to establish them as a team, to show how things are in their current time, and develop their relationships a bit more. It definitely grounds the reader more in what they’re doing for the Syndicate, while giving an interesting look into a very futuristic society. There are some really interesting “historical” events outlined, adding even more to the overall engaging aspects of the story. We also continue to get more tidbits on the mysterious locket and pocket watch, and more questions about Stassi’s past. It was an enjoyable story, and a solid continuation of the series.
Atlic is a great read. You'll learn all about the syndicates and Stassi's present time.I couldn't wait to read the next book in the series. Even though Stassi and her friends didn't travel through the vortex, I felt like I did since we got a lot more insight into Stassi's home time.
Highly recommended for fans of The Syndicate or time travel stories.
I loved the second instalment of The Syndicate. I love how the author has enabled the reader to be transported to another time zone. I enjoyed reading from the perspective of the future and I believe that the author has done a good job of detailing the specifics of this time zone.
The objective of the Atlic Syndicate is thievery in disguise. Steal historical artifacts and return them to "rightful" owners or just save and preserve them for the future generation. Especially since the world has went to help in a breadbasket after WWIII and the Epic War. So.....this book is better than the first one. Who doesn't love time travel?
