"My husband and I have been happy for so long. Can our relationship handle one more?" Reuben has a law degree, dammit. He shouldn't be slinging coffee for annoying customers. Determined to find a better job, he contacts an attorney on a networking website. As soon as he and Jasper meet, Reuben develops a crush on the distinguished older man - but he's also well aware of the ring on Jasper's finger. Online, Jasper was intrigued by the newly-minted lawyer's innocent face. In person, he's entranced by Reuben's passion and idealism. Yes, Jasper's been happily married for fifteen years... but he and his husband also have an "arrangement," and he knows Charlie's weakness for sweet young twinks. When Jasper suggests the three of them get together, Reuben nervously agrees. A threesome with two mature men will be the wildest thing he's ever done. Jasper's just so irresistible, and Reuben is sure Jasper's husband is just as good-looking. He doesn't realize Charlie is his least favorite regular from the coffee shop. Will Jasper and Charlie be able to spend a hot night with Reuben? And if they do, could three-way passion become a love to last a lifetime? (One More is a 225-page M/M/M menage romance, with a HEA and no cliffhanger.)
No llega a las 3* ni de coña! pero vamos a dejarlo ahí. Es un quiero y no puedo con un final que no hay por donde cogerlo. Una pena porque los MC son majos......pero la historia no hay por dónde cogerla!
DNF 38% no rating I love a hate fuck as much as the next person but Im just not invested in these three. Also, the blurb calls the barista Reuben, and in the version I read his name is Simon. *shrugs*
I like m/m/m books. This one was hot, it has that going for it. For me this book didn't quite make sense to me. Not only the way the threesome was initially approached (which seemed wrong the way Jasper did it) but also how the relationship ended up being defined (which seemed wrong even though I'm not sure if any other option was any healthier).
Charlie, was sadly so focused on sex that it was hard to like him and to understand what really made Reuben fall for Charlie. Lust, sure...but I didn't feel a real emotional bond between those two.
The relationship concerns Jasper had for his work and status were legitimate concerns that were never addressed once they made the decision to go public with the drastic change to his known, well established, long term relationship. Without ever addressing how his thoughts about this changed or how he was going to approach the change with his friends, family and co-workers, I feel like a big, big part of their life was brushed over.
Last, Charlie and Jasper kinda dump their big relationship change proposal on Reuben after they had discussed it between them at length (according to the one paragraph we get about that) but the reader never actually gets to hear them have this discussion. It's complete news to us that they had any conversation at all, just like it was to Reuben. Missing out on that made the relationship seem shallow. Not getting a ringside seat to what Charlie and Jasper were thinking, how they approached the idea between them, etc, made the solution they sprung on Reuben (and the reader) seem reactionary.
It was HOT and the story was told in a very compelling way but it just didn't gel realistically for me.
"A Heart-Warming, Heat-Infused, Beautiful, Soulful Story"
A wonderfully sexy, humorous, tearful, and, adorable read has this reader in a pleasant state of reader's bliss, as the culmination of such a hopeful read has heart-shaped eyes and a big, goofy-grin resulting after such a read. One More, by Daisy May, is a beautifully written story about three men coming together, with the realization that love comes in very different ways, and as a result, ultimately learn that with the blending of one's soul, the ever growing and glowing love will always lead the way into eternity for Jasper, Charlie and Simon.
One More is one of those types of stories that surprisingly contains so much meat to it, that in the end is disguised as one with a short and simple storyline. Surprisingly, it isn't. There are actually many reasons why I enjoyed this story. It's title alone had me biting my nails from the very beginning due to its multi-tiered meaning. I loved it's underlying theme of love having no boundaries. I read while sitting precariously on the edge-of-my-seat as the three characters began their road of discovery. I loved the distinct personalities of each of the characters as they contributed accordingly to the storyline. Their chemistry was without-a-doubt off the charts, and, as I can attest to the melting of my kindle on multiple occasions, this was something that never wavered throughout the story. I also loved how each of them developed into dedicated and loving individuals for their small family. It was beautiful to see such love and dedication between Jasper, Charlie, and, Simon.
As there was so much that I had loved and enjoyed about this story, there were also areas that, in this reader's opinion, also needed more development. I found myself a bit confused at times due to the lack of development to the actual plot as various parts seemed to have been missing. I had also hoped for more development of the secondary characters as their presence seemed stagnant despite having such great potential. In addition, the character background of the main characters had such amazing meat to it, that I was literally grabbing at the computer to read more of it.
Even though there had existed such a shocking curve-ball to the plot, and, not being a fan of it, at all, I still loved the main characters, their overall storyline, their furry children, and the secondary characters as well. For this, I really enjoyed this story...:)
The book had a promising beginning and a (generally) interesting plot; it was an easy read. Nevertheless, it ended up missing its mark spectacularly as either satisfactory romance or erotica. In retrospect, it had so many cliched romance books' flaws and pet peeves that I kind of regret finishing it (minor spoilers): - In the romance front, there was far too much emphasis on the triad good looks as the base for their relationship (as opposed to any winning personality traits). With the exception of Jasper, we were told but not shown that they were charismatic and charming. At several points in the plot, good looks and great sex were quoted directly as justification to the entire relationship (jokingly in some cases, but the joke rang too true for comfort). Not very promising for the relationship long term. - As the characters themselves commented, the whole "secondary relationship" idea was offensive. That should have been the point in which Reuben thanks the couple politely and goes his own way. - Charlie remained a jerk throughout. We never got a full redemption arc for him, nor mitigating circumstances or explanation why he acts this way. His apologies were feeble and far between. The author actually started a redemption arc (she had Charlie doubting himself and Jasper confronting him about his behavior), but instead of doing something interesting with it she just shrugged and threw it away (too much effort?). - The age gap was the "elephant in the room". Although all characters thought about it at some point, they never discussed it; there was not any serious discussion of children (which normally I would not mind, but the subject was mentioned in an offhand fashion). - The characters were supposedly out of the closet, yet they were extremely paranoid about strangers figuring out their relationship and anyone realizing they were gay. - In the erotica front, the sex scenes were pretty bland and uninspired for a menage book, especially for an experienced couple who should know what they're doing in bed with a third. - The timing of the sex scenes in the plot and their choice (which to entail and which to fade out) were pretty random. They usually had no role in advancing the plot and seemed to be included to satisfy a quota. - The whole act numbering thing? Not cute or erotic in the least. Try cold and clinical.
An entertaining book the writing was great. The plot was terrific and it was steady throughout the book. The characters were well developed and thought out. I found the story and characters wonderful. Reuben, Charlie and Jasper are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, puppies, a coffee shop, a married couple, “Angrypants”, a threesome and so much more in this book. I did have a couple of small problems I can’t explain fully without spoiling the book. First I had a hard time with the outcome of the equality of the relationship it felt like an easy the way to fix it, not a true emotional situation for those involved. Secondly the end result of the marriage and how everyone accepts that doesn’t seem real to me either. These two problems seemed like there was just an easy fix to them and not a resolution to a struggle. Here is a quote from the book, “This is my first informational interview. I figured I should do my research.” He laughed and blew on the tea again….” It’s my first informational interview, too,” he said. “I think you’re the first person to contact me through that site.” There is more but you will need to read the book which I can recommend doing. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
This is a new to me author. I enjoyed this book. Simon is a cute, young barrista in a coffee shop that Charlie frequents. He comes across as cold, indifferent and at times downright rude to Simon. Simon finds Charlie attractive, but dreads having to deal with him. Simon has just graduated from law school and is having difficulty finding a job in his profession. He decides to reach out through a Facebook group in order to network. He sets up a meeting with Jasper. When they meet, immediately there's a spark of attraction. Jasper proposes a threesome with his husband and Simon agrees. When they get to Jasper's and he finds out his husband is Charlie, he runs. Confronted with his behavior, Charlie realizes how he is perceived and decides to try talking to Simon because he wants to have this opportunity. When Simon agrees again, the three begin a relationship (of sorts) Jasper and Charlie won't acknowledge Simon in public and don't want to have to continusley explain their relationship to others. Simon begins to feel as though he's only being used for sex. When he begins to distance himself, Jasper and Charlie realize they love him as much as he loves them. They all come to the realization that they need to learn how to communicate better in order to have their HEA.
Omg. I seriously loved One More from the start. This Daisy May romance is just spectacular.
Reuben's a twink who catches the eye of a married man. Next thing he knows, he's being invited into Jasper and his husband Charlie's bed. It's definitely not your typical threesome though, as it starts with hate sex, as Reuben and Charlie hate one another. And it's hot.
The writing is wonderful, with non-stop intrigue, a great pace, and hot sex. The author kept my attention throughout, with a storyline that I love. The angst is realistic and relatable. Overall, the whole story is well done and full of emotion.
The beauty of this tale is that it's not just the struggle of a married couple adding a third, but also the struggle of being a third in an already established, loving relationship. It's full of confusion, jealousy, doubts, and a whole lot of lust and chemistry.
One More is a riveting and compelling romance. Daisy May has captured my attention with this scorching hot tale. I definitely want to check out more from this author.
Such an awesome book! You feel for Reuben as he enters Jasper's and Charlie's already established relationship. Without meaning to, the two make Reuben feel as if he is a dirty secret; I can see their point of people not understanding but poor Reuben. I love that Reuben held to his guns of leaving at night because Charlie and Jasper most times used sex to turn his attention elsewhere and not talking things out with him. The surprising way they solved the relationship problems was something I didn't see coming and cheered at. This is definitely going into my reread pile because it was just that wonderful of a book! Even is MMM, triad books are not your thing give this one a try because you will fall in love.
When you step outside your box, the world is infinite! Simon worked at Cup of Joy while waiting to get a job using his law degree. Charlie and Jasper were happily married and in love for 15 years. Jasper was a lawyer and Charlie was a mechanical engineer. What were the odds that these three would meet and have anything in common? Charlie and Jasper usually did a one night only affair. Then they realized that they liked Simon and he was open to a threesome! Is this temporary? What happens if one person falls in love? Is their thruple equal? Working thorugh the logistics of a thruple, cause more questions. How do they navigate the world? How do they fairly resolve problems? Nice story. The problem solving process is almost worth the read. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
I was looking for m/m books to read when I came across this one but I'm glad I did because I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Jasper and Charlie were seriously hot together but when they bring in a third aka Reuben - OMG I thought my ovaries were going to explode!
A great story with mind blowing sex scenes and the challenges they face in a poly relationship. The author captured Reuben's insecurities really well and I loved the fact that Jasper was so perceptive about Reuben's feelings.
I'm reading book 2 next and I can't wait. Im definitely adding this author to my favourite list.
I really liked this book to the point where I didn't want to put it down and read the entire book in one sitting.
I really like the fact that it seems like a scenario that could happen with an established couple finding someone that they didn't realize they were looking for.
The other thing that makes this good, is that they don't just automatically have a stable relationship, they have some problems with communication, and self-doubt, and many things that happen in real people. Relationships take work, especially between 3 people, and this book shows that.
There are also some very cute parts of the book, that help with all of the seriousness and lightens the mood.
Such a good story. The animosity between Simon and Charlie was electrifying. Jasper was such a great character, too. This story just gave me the best feeling as I was reading it. The immense chemistry the author portrayed our heroes having was amazing. I enjoyed every moment I spent within the pages of this book.
This story was different from the start but way so hot. From Mr Angry pants to Mr. Fixable to Mr. Sweat pants. They all keep you on your toes then add five high maintenance puppy and you have one sweet and eventful story
I so enjoy this book, the ups and down. The love and growth of the three was just wow. Truthfully I read it twice because I enjoyed it that much. Now you know I don't give spoilers, I tell you to read it and find out if it give you the same joy.
some parts of this story didnt do it for me.. it wasnt badly written.. i enjoyed the plot.. and i enjoyed the characters.. but some parts just.. i didnt like the way it went honestly.. but then it did pick back up.. and i enjoyed it.. so overall it was good and i enjoyed it
The premis of this book was good and I had no real issues with the writing. However i feel like we were missing a lot, like decisions were made but glossed over after so much angst leading up to it.
I'm voluntarily reviewing a free advance reader copy I received from the author.
I enjoyed this, but it took a while for me to really believe this was going somewhere solid. I couldn't quite stand Charlie's harshness. He was very clueless and abrasive all the time except with Jasper. Fortunately he let Reuben in eventually. I felt bad for Reuben through much of it. On one hand, he entered the relationship knowing he was "secondary" and not an equal. After a while, though, they started treating him as more of an equal while still not acknowledging his feelings and seeing how the mixed signals of secondary vs. more prominent in the relationship was affecting him. I just wished the guys would communicate and pay attention to each other more. This did have some very hot scenes.
Shocker- another DNF (45%) This was just so incredibly poorly written. Ugh, I couldn’t handle it anymore. The smut was awful, the characters were awful, it was uncomfortably written. I love MMM ménage, but ew to this one.
This is the first book by this author that I have read but it definitely won't be the last. The book is well written and the characters are exciting and well developed. Charlie and Jasper are a married couple who are very happy together but like to spice it up occasional and invite a third in. Reuben is that chosen third, from the minute they are together all rules go out the window. This book is about these men working out what they want and then getting it. The end surprised me but it is a perfect ending. I can't recommend this book strongly enough. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I love a good menage story! This book was excellent. I loved the nickname Mr. Smartypants. Sounds like something I would say. It is easy to fall in love with Reuben - he is such a sweetheart. I'm so glad that Jasper and Charlie woke up in the end. I would have hated if they had broken everyone's heart because of others.
