Rate this book
In Still-Water Home of Mercy, an elderly resident is found brutally murdered.

Not only has he been killed in the most horrific manner, but his body has also been desecrated to represent the sign of the cross. All the evidence suggests that there is a paranormal element to the case and it’s one that only immortal investigator Thomas Arsen will be able to solve.

But, as he searches for the clues that will crack the case, Arsen soon discovers that there is much more to the crime than he first thought, with a terrible secret manifesting itself and threatening the existence of everything he holds dear.

And as the body count begins to increase, with more of the residents succumbing to an ancient evil, Arsen comes face to face with the demons that not only threaten the lives of the innocent, but also the ones which have lurked in his heart these past two hundred years.

Can he unravel the mystery before more innocent lives are lost? Or is it time up for Thomas Arsen and the rest of humanity?

Enjoy the first chapter of this supernatural detective series, as we follow the tribulation and challenges that continue to unfold before our Immortal hunter of killers.

Chapter one is my kind of awesome. Freaked out kids messing with a spirit board. Then I'm hooked.
The characters are well put together and the connection between how the first chapter works as part of the story also works well. The storyline flows and there is a fresh horror to imagine.
Especially the dream / visit from his sister. Not to mention the demon killing! She was a NUN! Brilliant.
You really have to get into this story and with the imagery the author gives its not long before you are facing a demon.
This book is a great opener and I I can't wait to see what this author has in line for the story and characters.
If you like The Mortal Instruments - but a bit more grown up, bit more bad ass. Then this is for you. Really had my imagination gripped.

The book starts with a scary chapter which piques interest and portends much more.
When chapters advance reader is thrown into the world of supernatural where demons and monsters of scaly skin and talon nails try to rend the peace from an elderly care facility. Mangled corpses and egregious murders attract demon hunters on the scene.
Can they save innocent lives or is too late?

This is a novella which introduces immortal investigator Thomas Arsen and two accomplices, in forthcoming Arsen chronicles.
Aaron Dawbot writes an interesting novel in supernatural genre. The author provides an edge to characters by providing glimpses to their past but it’s not executed well thus leaving the reader incognisant. There are minor grammatical errors which if brushed aside turns this book into interesting read.
This novella is filled with action, has glut of supernatural creatures, sneak peak into hell, immortality and much more

Ebook provided by the author via @BookTasters on Twitter,in exchange for an honest review.First off it did have some minor editing issues nothing that I couldn't get past.Basically your plunged right into an action filled story line. With the title character being reborn out of a ouija board at a slumber party. While his two partners, Lonnie and Fritz are onto another supernatural happening. Before we have time to relax we are confronted with a mystery at the Still Waters Home of Mercy.Where someone or something is killing the old folks there. We don't get much character developement, until near the end. When we start getting a little peak of a back story of Thomas and his companions.
I'm sure we'll get more on these characters as the episodes continue. All in all a good read and I'm looking forward to the next ep.

This book definitely borders on thriller / suspense/ science fiction. It was a bit tough to get into in the beginning but by chapter 2 it had me hooked. The book is definitely graphic and super creepy enough to keep your attention. I couldn't wait to get to that and see what would happen. Looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

Bleeding Cross is the first novella in the Thomas Arsen series, which follows investigator Arsen and his two colleagues as they solve supernatural crimes. In their first outing, they are sent to Still Water Home, where some of the elderly residents have been found brutally murdered.
I really liked the characters, particularly Arsen himself, though I would have liked more development in this area. It is the first in a series so I'm not sure how these characters progress in the future - and I think Dawbot has laid solid groundwork for character development in this first novella - but I would have liked more depth from them. This is particularly true of Arsen's two accomplices, Fritz and Lonnie, whose pasts are teased at but never fully explored here. The relationships between the three men were also interesting and hopefully in later installments that's also explored more.
The structure of the novella, particularly the first chapter, is really well done. The reader is plunged straight into the action and the storyline keeps moving at a similar pace. It is relentless and at no point did I feel that anything could be cut or removed. Dawbot really focuses on the action and made really entertaining to read. There were a few issues of grammar and spelling mistakes but they didn't really distract from the plot, probably because it is so fast-paced.
Overall, I did enjoy Bleeding Cross. It did have a few mistakes and I would have liked to have seen more character development but I thought it was a really fun, fantasy paranormal adventure and it has lots of potential to expand and really get into depth about the characters and the world they inhabit.

From fiction writer and cardiologist Aaron Dawbot comes Bleeding Cross, a tale of demon hunting and personal vengeance.

After witnessing his sister’s gruesome end, Reaper Thomas vows to exact his vengeance while hunting demons with his colleagues Lonnie and Fitz.

I loved Thomas as a character and admired his cold logical approach to the mysteries laid out before him. Given what he’s been through, it was understandable that he appeared distant, with his determination to make things right far surpassing anything else.

The story flowed well and moved along at a brisk pace, which I liked. The author’s use of descriptive language painted vivid images within my mind and allowed me to witness the story more clearly through the protagonist’s eyes.

Although I feel a final line edit would be helpful to fill in some missing connective words and the like, the novel itself quickly grew on me and kept me hooked from beginning to end. If you like the sound of demonology and the supernatural, then I’d recommend this for you.

My Rating? 4 stars.

The book starts with a scary chapter, which captures the interest the reader. It involves an ouija board and the main character being reborn out of it. With that as the starting chapter, you immediately get plunged into an action filled storyline. Lots of murders and deaths are happening and the main character Thomas Arsen along with his two partners investigate the mysterious deaths and go demon-hunting. They deal with all supernatural stuff to prevent the evil from spreading.

The story has a few editing issues. A lot of focus is on the action scenes which are quite graphically described but throughout the book there is a lot of underwriting and few incomplete sentences. A lot of my questions remain unanswered. As the story progressed I started losing interest in it because of the lack of history of the characters and lack of explanation of a lot of events that took place. The plot itself is OK.
Overall, its an 'okay' one time read.

In the Still-Water Residence for elderly people occurs a mysterious death of one of the residents, not only being killed but also being desecrated. So Thomas Arsen and his friends initiate an investigation because it seems to be product of demonic activitiesl, during which other strange deaths occur just to confirm their suspicions.
This is a sturdy about a demon hunter, who is not entirely human, and who has his own bad experiences to overcome. The scribes are quite graphically described, and the characters are introduced ina lively manner. The plot itself is ok, although it didn't quite maintain my interest engaged because there's not much profundity to the story. It seemed to be line reading the script to an action film focused mainly on the incredible action parts.

Ok spoilers may be below.
This novella was ok, just ok. It jumps around from one place to another fast so you have to pay close attention or you will be lost. There are tons of characters so you are not really sure who is what. Only 3 main characters and apparently an evil sister, im honestly not sure but apparently she was killed at some point. It was mediocre at best. With creatures, odd creatures. But to each his own. Not for me but it did pass the time. But only pass the time.

I received an ebook copy via the author through @booktasters on Twitter for an honest review.

This book had everything I like in a supernatural/suspense/thriller book. I'm giving this a weak 4 star because I was thourghly entertained but I wish the charactization was a little stronger. But Dawbot has what it takes to keep you on edge. I will recommend if you want to enjoy a quick read.

There is some potential- maybe if it gets a revamp version 3 there can be more building of Thomas. I would love to know more background on him.
