An interesting read. There were times when I wasn't so sure about this read. There are moments that are dark and kinda creepy, but only a couple of times. Personally I also found myself wanting more mention of The Lord, Bible verses, and prayer. But when Faith is mentioned I really enjoyed it and there were times I really liked this book. The characters are will developed and they're very likable. The plot is unique and entertaining. There were sometimes I wondered were the story was going, and there are still somethings that I'm not quite sure I got. :/ Plus a few things that didn't get fully explained. Overall I felt this was a quirky read, but I loved the characters and the ending!

This was a great suspenseful romantic mystery! Lots of complex characters with equally complex and intriguing storylines. This was a new author to me, but it will definitely not be the last book I read by her. I was blessed to receive this book in a Goodreads giveaway! Well worth entering!
I've read all of Jackie Zack's books and find them delightful. They are not your run-of-the-mill Christian romances. This book did not disappoint me. Easy to read and full of excitement and surprises. There's a very good suspense element the more you get into the story. A great clean read.
At first I didn't know if I would like this book but it got interesting and a lot of suspense soon followed. I would definitely read more from this author.
What is the chance that a former New York City editor who wants to be a successful published author and a young lady who witnessed a murder will accidentally connect with each other in the new town each calls home?
David Wappelhorst is a successful editor, but his work gets in the way of allowing him to fulfill his dream of writing a novel. Megan Summers relocates to Pennsylvania when she joins the witness protection program.
The two quickly become friends in spite of their age difference. Together they take on the challenge of solving a local mystery…and find themselves in situations that are likely to make your spine tingle.
The author does a wonderful job of making her reader get to know and like both David and Megan and feel an equal disdain for some of her intentionally less likeable characters. This reader certainly smiled at the inclusion of animals in the story.
Be prepared for your sweet tooth to kick in as you read about the delectable goodies that Megan prepares for the church bake sale.
Many thanks to Jackie Zack for my copy of this book. She selected my name in a random drawing as part of a Facebook group contest. No promise of a review was made by me or requested by the author.
As I read this book, I was swiftly caught up in the mystery, romance and suspense.
The author successfully developed the main characters whose relationship grew from friendship to love as they set out to unravel the truth behind rumors pointing to murder. The suspense builds as you follow their fragile relationship, a local mystery, and secrets of their own.
Some questions were left unanswered, and I think the ending was somewhat abrupt. But overall, I enjoyed the book and recommend it. Note, the story incorporates an underlying religious theme.
This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed the plot of two people starting over, and seeing how they handled losing their pasts and trying to forge ahead into a brighter future. I enjoyed the wit and humor thrown in with the mystery and suspense. The characters were interesting and the relationship between Megan and David was very sweet.
This book had nothing. I got to 50% and still nothing happened. It was just their everyday lives and a creepy overly obsessed creep that I’m guessing becomes the lover interest because , go figure.. Christian books always do. Look, I’m a Christian, but not every story has to have a love that is forced. I gave up.
mediocre is the only word I can think of. That applies to writing and the story. I wasn't personally involved in any way with this book. The writing was all over the place and had no flow at all. The witness protection plan was amateur at best. Sorry to be so negative but I just didn't care for it.
Very slow moving, took forever to get interesting. Two story lines did not seem to fit together very well for me. Kept wondering where the story was supposed to be going. Anti climatic ending! Did not make me want to read any other by this author.
This was kind of a weird book for me. I didn't feel as if it really had a solid story line and seemed to jump around a lot. I didn't feel as if either of the main characters were really developed or that there was a clear direction in this book.
I appreciate that this was a clean romantic suspense. However it wasn't extremely romantic or suspenseful, just enough to motivate me to read to the end.
My favorite bird and favorite type of book! Sounds similar to a Daphne DuMaurier novel I loved, "Rebecca". So glad to see another Gothic style novel out there. I must read this!
I really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters and reality and the way it moved. Everything was believable, but over the top. Very fun. A very read.
