Steve Lyons is a science fiction writer, best known for writing television tie-ins of Doctor Who for BBC Books, and previously, Virgin. The earliest of these was Conundrum in 1994, and his most recent was 2005's The Stealers of Dreams. He has also written material for Star Trek tie-ins, as well as original work.

Cuatro historias ambientadas a inicios de la tercera temporada, después de la guerra alienígena contra la federación y con la habitual calidad de las producciones de Big Finish: en "Liberation" Dayna (interpretada de manera muy acertada por Jasmine Bannerman, ya que Josette Simon no quiso volver) y Tarrant aprenden a colaborar en medio de una revuelta en un antiguo planeta de la federación. "Outpost" trata sobre Tarrant y Vila intentando sobrevivir en una colonia pirata a la que han ido a buscar un banco de datos robado, con un antigua novia de Vila haciéndoles la vida imposible. "Close Enough" tiene una gran premisa; Avon es sometido a una operación contra su voluntad que le hace desarrollar telepatía, algo que Cally intentará solucionar. Finalmente, "Solus", la mejor historia de todas reúne a todo el cast junto a Servalan (Jacqueline Pearce, enorme como siempre) en busca de un artefacto alienígena que permite copiar la mente de la glamurosa presidenta de la federación en los ordenadores de la Liberator, anulando a Zen y convirtiendo la nave en un peligro para todos, incluso para la Servalan original.
