Tycoon Theo De Angelis lives life by his rules only…until a family debt forces him to propose the only merger he's never chased—matrimony! Beautiful, inexperienced Alexa Caldini may be nothing like his usual blonde-bombshell "type" but that doesn't mean their marriage bed must grow cold…
Forced to marry the son of her father's rival, Alexa is determined to impose certain ground rules for their inconvenient arrangement. Absolutely no emotions and definitely no physical relationship! But wearing the De Angelis ring is easier than facing the unexpected temptations of actually becoming Theo's wife. How long before Alexa's rules go up in smoke?
Cathy Williams, born in Trinidad and Tobago, is a British author who has written romance novels for Mills & Boon since 1990. She lives in Chiswick, London, with her three daughters and continues to craft engaging, heartfelt love stories.
I am shocked Cathy Williams wrote a virginal heroine so I was very excited about this book. Sadly i couldn't like it. Heroine was cold and unfeeling and all H/h did was bickering and fighting non stop. I dont like shrewish heroines.
After a couple of bad experiences in HPs this so sweet for me that maybe I'm loving it more than I would normally do. The plot has been done before so nothing new but it works for me. Virgin heroine virtually forced to accept a convenience marriage with playboy. They both need to pretend they're in love for the cameras and one thing led to the other... I adore when a heroine wants to hate the hero but the more she knows about him the deeply she falls for him. As a result I laughed and laughed.
An arranged marriage to a dynamic sexy Theo is a lot more than shy behind the scenes Alexa could ever have imagined, it must be a nightmare!
But alas it is true she will have to marry this arrogant bossy playboy, but only for a year with no sex. Little dreaming what unfolds.
I like how Alexa was not going to be swayed by their sexual chemistry & really tries to stick to her guns. Poor Theo can't believe that he of all men is overwhelmed by this wallflower.
Not a long review here, but second chance love here. Both characters have some issue when they first meet but find solace and some peace/recognition from each other. Due to circumstances they're separated. Years later by chance they meet again and secrets are revealed as well as old feelings. Also a surprise little person changes the equation for both.
I liked both hero and heroine, not loved but liked as some reactions and situations were a little bit too much. Pacing was fine and plot was a C grade.
So if you need a book to fill some time this one could do the job.
Underwhelming story. Read numerous other romances then came back to read this one and I was still underwhelmed. Problem, hero too beta boring dull. Problem two, the hero and heroine do so much talking and it was so underwhelming their conservations. No angst really. Hero and heroine had good histories. Story just dull.
“He might not be a shining advertisement for kind, thoughtful or patient, but he has been kind and thoughtful and patient with me...”
Thanks Cathy Williams! I liked this one!
Theo is forced to marry Alexa because of an agreement that their fathers made. Having never met before, they both came into the relationship with preconceived notions of what the other would be like.
Alexa expected a playboy with very little about him that she would like. Theo assumed that Alexa was unattractive and unlikeable for her father to barter her off in a business deal. They both did not want this marriage and made plans to ensure that it would not be a life long commitment. Until things change and they find that they might not be so against marriage to each other after all.
I loved Alexa. She is smart, sassy and a humanitarian. She dressed in jeans, sweatshirts and trainers. She had no desire to be like the other women in her social circle. Theo was the typical businessman/playboy. He worked hard and played hard, keeping his emotions under wrap until Alexa dragged him out of his comfort zone. It was fun to see their relationship develop and grow.
I liked it more...until Theo called all his previous bed partners "Stick Insects". Seriously?? After bedding SLIM long legged women all his life, suddenly they're STICK INSECTS just because the heroine is short and curvy (noticed I didn't say fat, coz that would be INSULTING). I actually like this author's style, but this is why I avoid BBW romances (with exception to Eve Langlais).
It wasn't the worst book but I just did not like the hero. Hero for most of the book was comparing heroine to the thin leggy blondes he was always attracted to and he thought constantly that he wouldn't have given heroine a second look if he wasn't forced to. I didn't really feel that hero was truly in love with heroine, it felt more like a case of he wants what he can't have. Np.
Really hot and the tension was palpable in the beginning but it started dying out towards the end...I still recommend it to anyone who's thinking of purchasing the book!

Well written, well paced, but the plot did not work for me. Very very wealthy man must marry very very wealthy woman, due to an agreement their fathers have made. Touches of billionaire porn - flying first class, taking a helicopter to a mansion, and so on. She's resistant to the arrangement, but he overcomes her resistance, in a manner bordering on creepy, with no respect for her interests as a lawyer helping the poor and working in a shelter - which she's eventually happy to give up. Adding to the creepiness, he usually dates (beds) thin models, and her more generous figure holds fascination for him. And she's a virgin. This was part of a two book set, labelled "Presents Classics," so I assumed it was a reprint of an older work. It is, but from 2016. An odd reading experience.

Theo De Angelis is a successful business tycoon and always been very much in control of his own destiny. Then when one of his father's business rivals suggests that he and his daughter marry as a financial / business arrangement he is forced to go along with it. Ruthlessly determined not to get emotionally involved and to divorce after a year things begin to get complicated when he loses his heart to the lovely Alexa... Really enjoyed this one, hoping to track down the sequel and his brother's story too.
I liked this story. I liked seeing the relationship develop from dislike. I also appreciated that the h was not blackmailed into the marriage by the H. This was the first book in a two book series about brothers and I enjoyed this book more.
I liked this book with strong and real characters, the whole story line is so typical of my life with wonderful parents who want the best a good read !!!
Achei a história bonita, mas a escrita é muito enrolada. Pulei algumas descrições, para um livro,tão curto, a autora poderia ter explorado melhor o romance.
I have fond memories of Harlequin romances. As a teenager, these books were secretly shuffled from girl to girl, they were a formative part of my teenage years. I recently got this lot of books and started with this one. This is what I consider a typical harlequin romance- virginal heroine, wealthy tycoon hero, an unlikely circumstance which results in them being married/ together, falling in love etc. etc. Despite the predictability of it all, I still am a sucker for romance and love and happily ever after and I'm glad that Harlequin has maintained those aspects of it without venturing into 'wild sex' books that focus more on sex than romance a la fifty shades of grey. I much prefer these books.
Not as good as some of her other books. Maybe it was rushed and written to hit a deadline, however it's a fairly standard romance story with an experienced Theo who is an great lover, and very inexperienced Alexa who does it for the first time with him.
It's based on an arranged marriage where Alexa in this day and age is blackmailed into. As normal, she falls in love with this lovable ruthless man. It hits the right spots for a romance however at times it's hard to tell what makes one romance better than another but this one just didn't capture my imagination.
It was so-so, but was more than a little contrived. Again with the arranged marriage, but this time it made no sense. All the reasons for the H/h to become engaged were shaky...at best! The only redeeming quality was that Williams characterization of the two was nice the way it unfolded. I love it when a Harlequin Presents has more to it than just sex and lusting. Any time that characters evolve is a plus!
Wearing the De Angelis Ring by Cathy Williams is Book 1 of the Italian Titans Series. A quick and fun read centered around a couple that is set up by their fathers to help with the hero’s family debt. The two have very strong and definite opinions of the other prior to ever meeting. As the two meet up, butt heads and struggle to find their place with one another for the duration of their soon-to-be forced marriage, they discover that a matching between them might not be so horrid after all.
This is a set up by the parents kind of book. In HP land we have encountered this theme at some point. I like the Hero and Heroine, they were honest and up front. Helps that they are both wealthy no mismatch there. I like that the girl has a spine. She works and even has causes she cares about. All in all it was a good read.
"Nice attention to detail and explosive sexual attraction make for a great read. Williams does a particularly nice job in describing Alexa’s feelings for Theo" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
As Alexa dreams of her future soulmate, she's forced into a marriage to help her family dynamics. Will Theo, her new betrothed, surpass everything she loathes in this union? Or will he break her walls down and show her passion and love? A fantastic Harlequin!
