The Reluctant Medium: Reclaiming the Power of Women's Intuition

Rate this book
Lorri Ann Devlin, RN, BSN, MS, wasn’t the type to believe in metaphysical experiences. She valued her logical, analytic mind. It had helped her achieve success as a CEO, medical researcher, and as a nurse.

Then Devlin realized that her scientific aptitude wasn’t the only gift she needed to nurture. There was a whole other side to her life that she wasn’t properly acknowledging or celebrating. Devlin predicted the date of her grandfather’s death and could even communicate with those who had passed on. She hid this for a long time. She didn’t want to seem crazy.

In The Reluctant Medium, Devlin chronicles the growth of her abilities and her gradual realization that the scientific and the spiritual did not have to be at odds with each other. She found a way to bridge the two worlds, and she shows you how you can do the same.

Devlin discusses

-empathic intuition,
-psychic warnings,
- intuitive dreams,
-synchronicity,
-altered states, and
other important aspects of mediumship.

Devlin reveals the true power of intuition and the life-altering truth it revealed to her about the nature of existence. It can be one of the most important tools you have to improve your own life and help others. You just have to know how to use it!

I found this book very interesting and showed you how you could hone in on your own intuition. The author tells you about herself and how she learned to accept the fact that she had intuition and how she used it to help others. It is a quick read, you find yourself not wanting to stop reading once you get started. If you believe mediums are real or are trying to figure out how to hone in on your own intuition, you will not be disappointed.

Into predestination myself, and/but Devlin's still works!

This is a difficult book to describe. It's not that I couldn't put it down. I had to make myself keep picking it up. There were lots of common threads/coincidences in our personal experiences. And maybe, that's what's difficult. The author is so personal in her writing. My mom, only once, in a 5 minute conversation in 1964, basically told me that she believed she had intuition and if something makes you feel uncomfortable, turn around and run the other way, fast! Delvin views many positives coming from intuition even in terms of mankind's evolution. Her quotes from people like Jonas Salk show this subject has been written about before. She shows the taboo of openly recognizing the existence of intuition/prescience and sharing how it has effected our lives has been already broken by a respected scientist from the last century. The author is passionate about her subject, in my opinion, making her move a little too fast getting her message out in your face. I was raised as a Presbyterian (predestination and tolerance). I marvel at the purpose for this book debuting at this exact time. Thanks for sharing yourself with the world.
