I have had the opportunity to read various books by author John Slavio in the past, and his books on the Amazon Echo are amongst those I have read. I had a good understanding of his writing style and the content he shares in them. In this collection you get three different books on the Echo that walk you through what it is, how to use it, and tips and tricks. The three different titles are: Amazon Echo, Advanced Amazon Echo Guide, and IFTTT Recipes. (IFTTT is If This, Then That... ) I have read each of these books in the past, so know the value in each.
He provides all of the basic information you need to learn what the Echo is capable of and how Alexa works. There are tips and tricks to help you set things up to get the most out of your Echo.He takes you through the basics in book 1, then goes in to more advanced settings in the second book, and concludes with "recipes" that you can use to set up specific things. These are how to guides that give you the exact instructions to customize your Echo to do what you like, rather than trying to figure it out on your own. I felt he did a good job explaining the basics. Having now read numerous books on the topic, I think he did fairly well at introducing it without going too in depth and losing the readers.
As with his other books, Slavio did a great job of sharing the basics and helping readers to understand how to use the Echo. He teaches you all of the things you need to know that others say are not included in the user manual that comes with the device. He tells you ways to ask it questions and give it commands that are simple and effective, helping you get the most out of using it in the easiest ways possible. I do wish he had included some pictures or diagrams to add some visual appeal, though.
This set of short, informative books was educational while being simple to read. Having a collection of three books in one definitely makes it seem more substantial and is definitely longer than his standalone Echo/Dot books, totaling 155 pages of great information. Each is well written and I am glad I took the time to read through all three in this one collection - it felt like one book overall. Definitely a good read and one that gave me all of the information I was looking for.
