I honestly enjoyed this book, but I will have to say that I read this on the heels of reading several books that had DV and SA in them, so I purposely sought out a story with a Happily Ever After and was on the softer side.
Overall I think it was a good story, but I think that I would’ve loved to see more of what was alluded to with the life Leah had to lead on her own in Pittsburgh and HOW that effected Maddie. Sure there was a stack of bills and two not so great jobs, but a lot was left for us to make up, and while I have a great imagination and the author did a decent enough job that I could imagine for myself, I think because it was brought up so many times, it should have been more detailed.
The same with Leah and Alistair’s past. I wish we got more about that, more details that showed how it went from passionate and fiery and sexy to heartbreak. And more about how it impacted Alistair when she left. It has a good set up, and honestly would be a great prequel that maybe starts with her leaving Dylan, and then jumps to a year later when she got with Alistair and the ups and downs of that relationship. It could the transition to her leaving, and focus on Alistair and what he went through and then switch back to Leah going to her parents, then being on her own through the first 4 years with Maddie, ending right where Billionaire Baby Daddy starts.
I also love these characters and don’t want to say bye just yet.
I did feel that the drama at the end was a little rushed, and there was a lot that was briefly talked about, where the author was telling us what happened instead of showing us through the scenes, and think that it would’ve been nice to have the drama played up a little more, but I also understand that the story was not meant to be so dark and dramatic.
I honestly think that other people wanted that instead and that’s why it has lower reviews, but I think I knew what to expect coming into the story, so I think it deserves the rating I gave it based on that knowledge.
