The Guards Of Attala #2

Her Alien Protector

Rate this book
Margo Turner, a Marine pilot, is still in shock from her unexpected crash landing on the ice planet Attala. To make matters worse, the rest of her research team was just carried away by a group of fierce alien warriors who are intent on separating Margo from her ship. Determined to finish the repairs and make her spacecraft flight ready, Margo fights the Attalan bodyguard assigned to her at every turn.

Lodyn never imagined his fated mate could be a fierce, curvy Earth woman. She makes his blood boil with her defiance and stubbornness but his heart doesn’t care. Neither does his manhood. Now he faces the impossible decision of keeping his sworn oath to the guard or claiming his fated mate and finding a way to keep her by his side forever.

Her Alien Protector is the second book in The Guards of Attala Series. This full-length novel can be read as a standalone, but is best enjoyed in order with the other books.

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book. Her Alien Protector is Mira Maxwell's second visit to Attala, the ice planet where ship's pilot Margo has survived a crash landing and a separation from the others in the expedition to find the rare mineral that will revive Earth's dying sun. She's focused on the mission and returning to save the Earth, and romance would be a distraction she can't afford. When Lodyn, the Attalan guard whose mission is to save Margo, bosses her around it irritates her. When he falls for her, declaring her his fated mate, Margo goes beyond irritated and all the way to, well, all the way. Lodyn is right, though he risks execution by taking a mate. They're fated, and neither the threat of lethal punishment, nor all the wild things on a hostile planet can change it. Suspenseful lulls in the fierce action and building UST make this book a real page turner, all the way to a rather abrupt HFN finish which leaves Lodyn's fate unsettled. I could have wished for a smoother landing, but Her Alien Protector is a real alien romance rocket ride. I'm up for more of this well-written and flawlessly edited series.

***I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

This is the second book in this series by this author that I've read and I have to say that good. I enjoyed this second book as much as the first one. The elite guards of Attala have met their match in the Earth women who have come to Attala on a dire mission. While the guards are gorgeous and extremely dominant alpha males and the women scientists are super independent and curvy in all the right places.

The spaceship pilot Margo is the only one left to work on getting the ship Sparrow up and ready to head back to Earth when their mission is complete or Earth dies. The rest of the crew have been carted away by guards heading for the safety of the city. Margo has to figure out the ships problems without her engineer. Lodyn the guard left in charge is instantly aware of Margo and is drawn to her. The ship is in danger and so is Margo when she refuses to leave. Thus starts the dance these two individuals will play on their way to romance. With snow storms, a hostile guard – Branyx, a fun and friendly guard Kjallak, and raiding enemies have to be contended with in short order.

Lodyn has to decide if he's going to betray his oaths and his brothers in arms. Will the three guards be enough protection? Will Margo be able to get the ship up and running on her own? Is love enough to answer these and other questions for Lodyn and Margo? I am really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next book. The book is filled with steamy explicit sex, action, trials, and triumps. These books are fun and easy to read with a steady pace and interesting characters so try the book on for size. I'm sure you'll agree with me that the book and series are very well worth the read.

This book takes place pretty much at the same time as book 1. Only instead of being carted off to the city with the rest of her team, Margo digs in her heels and defies her sexy alien guard to stay and fix the ship. Because, you know, they're going to need it to get back to earth. Which is pretty important seeing as how they can't save the planet if they can't get back to it.

That said, staying at the ship introduces one of my absolute favorite scenarios...snowed in with the hunk. Sure, sure. Margo and Lodyn aren't actually alone, but they have to spend quality time cooped up together and I LOOOOOVE when that happens.

The downside of this is Lodyn's oath of celibacy. Which a lot of the warriors don't hold is high regard, it's turning out. Still, the big guy tries to be honorable. Sort of. It's just when you can literally *feel* when you've met your fated mate, it's kinda hard to stay all stoic and unmoved.

*ahem* Right. So, we're shown a little more of the dangers that can be found on Attala. We meet some beings who aren't all that nice. We get some sexy times in the cold.

Things are moving forward with the mission and there are still several other women unattached. WHO'S NEXT?

The quest to save Earth's sun has hit a snag. Well an electromagnetic storm to be precise. As the pilot of the Sparrow, Margo is blaming herself for the crash landing and the situation the crew is in. Margo feels it's her responsibility to stay with the ship and try to fix it. No alien warrior is going to make her do anything else- no matter how hunky he may be. Lodyn wants to complete his mission to keep the human visitors safe- no matter how stubborn the one named Margo may be. The fact she is his fated mate just makes his mission that much more important. Will Lodyn be able to save Margo after an attack by the Salthu? What will happen when Lodyn's warrior brothers find out Margo is his mate? This is the second book in this series. Each book brings something new. There are a lot of new questions and subtle hints that make you go "hmm". Such things like the story of the first leader of the guard and patterns in the skin. Can't wait for the next book- I'm officially hooked.

Book 2 lives up to book 1

Like Diana's story in book 1, Margo's story is that of a strong, independent woman in a vital mission that simply cannot be set aside. Lodyn is tasked with keeping Margo safe, but her idea of safe, in a land she know little about, and his idea of safe in his homeland are two very different things.

The characters were interesting, and fun, and the secondary characters had the added but of fun of I found myself almost voting from one chapter to the next who I wanted to move to center stage in the next book, and why. (The cold harsh grump who is just begging to have his backstory cracked open, or the more affable lieutenant who looks capable of stepping up should the situation require it?)

This is the kind of series I love finding in Kindle Unlimited, it's easy to just keep moving from one quick read to the next, with the story continuing to build on crumbs gradually sprinkled out.

Good start.. kind of lost momentum

After reading the first book I was excited to see how the rest of the books played out. The beginning started right where the first one began back at the ship when we were all wondering what happened to Margo?! Well Margo and Lodyn are getting quite acquainted and there was lots of passion between them as well as battles with the Saluth. The only thing that I felt that lost momentum was the disconnect that Mira seemed to have writing this one. She was fantastic describing the moments of passion in the first one and this one seemed completely like someone else wrote those scenes. The plot didn’t have much twists or any depth to it. It was quickly resolved and the ending didn’t feel like an ending but more like a cliffhanger. Hopefully the next one will be more of Mira’s writing from the first book and not the sense of hurry like this one had.

More of Book 1

This second book about the stranded human women astronauts and their damaged spaceship, Sparrow, is similar to the first book. In this 2nd book, the pilot, Margo💋, was left at the ship to try to repair it while the Captain went off to the mountains with her fated Attalan warrior mate to find the special mineral needed to save 🌎earth.
Margo💋 has three of the Attalan warriors on the Sparrow trying to get her off the ship and back to their walled city. She just wants to stay there and make repairs. One of the warriors, Lodyn🐺🍌🌋🔥, realizes she is his fated mate.
Lots of xxx situations occur of course, as well as a lot of violent fights. Since the warriors are not allowed to mate, if they are found out, they will be killed.
Lodyn 👾🍌🌋🔥 is a huge bad naaasssty alien male, but he will protect Marg💋o with his life!
YEHAW! Ride Em Bareback🍌, Cowgirl!🐎🐎🐎🐎

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC version of this book. My opinions are mine and truthful.*

The second book of this series was JUST as good as the first book, I love them both equally. I was rooting hard for Margo and Lodyn. Margo is just as strong as Diana and maybe a little more stubborn. Lodyn was very sweet and through him we learn a lot more about the planet and the guard. The whole book I was feeling bad for Kjallak because I want him to have a mate too. I didn't really care for the third guard at the ship, Branyx, but maybe that will change if he just so happens to fall for one of the human women. Maybe then, he'd see things differently. I'm interested about what other creatures live on this planet. This book made their mission progress and I'm more excited than ever to see what happens next. Book 3 can not come quick enough.

I liked the first book in this steamy scifi series and found book 2 to be just as good. The story takes place in the human ship as Lodyn and Margo fall in love once they get past each others stubbornness. It was a hoot reading each of them try to out stubborn each other and butt heads. I received a free copy and my honest review is that I enjoyed this fact paced story full of action and battle scenes as Margo and 3 Attalains protect the human ship from scavengers. It was an easy addicting read that I finished in one setting as I just had to see what problems and issues would show up. I am enjoying this series as it is steamy and lighthearted to read.

I'm thinking about this book and series.

Story lines and the premise of the series are good. However, the guards just aren't alpha enough for me. I will keep reading the series but it will not be on my list of favorites. I am intrigued by some details. What is the connection with the salthus and why do they speak english? Why are the guards not allowed to mate? Ms. Maxwell shows skill in her story telling. She has caught my interest I just wish that her males had more forceful personas.

I really enjoyed this story overall, however I didn't like the ending as much as I liked the ending of the previous one. it just seemed like it left us hanging a bit too much with this one... Margo and Lodyn had incredible chemistry but it would have been nice to see their reaction to the news about the other mated couple among the group. I hope this isn't the last we see of these characters as I really enjoyed getting to know them. I'd definitely recommend this one but I would say it would be better read in order.

The heroine is supposed to be a Marine. A Marine! But the author made her TSTL (too stupid to live). So I couldn't stomach the cringe-inducing mistakes of an author who obviously knows nothing of the military or military mindset. Did not finish.

Too bad. This series idea showed promise.

If the author wants to write a military character, she has got to do her research. This was an epic show of laziness and turned me off from the rest of the series, and this author's body of work.

It could be saved, though lots of research and revision is needed.

Another great read in this series. It's written in a way that if you haven't read the first one you'll still know what's going on. For me though I have to read books in order, lol. Even though the couple's story is wrapped up for the moment there are still some unanswered questions that makes me eager for the next one to see where the author takes the rest of the story. I was gifted and ARC for an honest review.

Love these alien books. Her and her crew crash on an ice planet. A group of aliens take her crew away and she has a body guard. She fights to repair her ship. Both have a duty to their respective people but are drawn to each other. I recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Book two is all about Margo's journey, her task to get the ship running, her escape from hostile aliens, her trek back to her crew and her desires for protector. Although this story is self contained, it is much clearer if you've already read book one.

I voluntarily received an ARC of this story and this is my honest review.

A hint of something that may be of importance in the future stories of this series comes out in this book, so don't miss it!

A fabulous addition to the series. I really like the strength in Ms. Maxwell’s female characters. The story kept me entertained all the way. The characters are well created and very engaging. I liked how the world building was expanded in this story and we learn more about the world of Attala.

I received an ARC from the author this is my honest review.
- One star off because this is a serials, people! There is no HEA, only an HFN, then again, I'm not sure in this story. The description says it's a stand alone but it's not since there are still many unanswered questions and you need to read the next book to have at least some of them resolved (I hope).
- A bit into the story, the author caught my attention with: "I see the possibility of being blessed with someone who could fill that empty space inside of me and make me whole". Lots of people would disagree with this statement but it works perfectly for me and my husband as this is how we feel.
- While reading the first book I had a feeling this one would be for Margo, so I was not surprised when I read the synopsis, but it did not damper my enthusiasm for the story in any way!
- I love how the author describes her environment, the people or beings living on the planet and the emotions that go through each of the team members.
- The author goes back a little so we understand their POV about what was going on during the beginning of the first book.
- Good read, don't miss out!

I read this because of a team game challenge today, and didn't expect much going in....was right to be weary. It's an inconsistent and dull erotica that didn't do anything for me at all. There is instalove, confusing dream sequences, and all the silliness that goes with a bad erotica. Not my cup of alien tea.

Her Alien Protector
Mira Maxwell

An adventure with lots of Attala testosterone, drama and a feisty human woman. A story that will have you racing to the end to find out what happens next. This is a series, you could read it alone but I suggest to read in order. Only because there are characters that will have you stretching your head about.

Margo Turner a Marine Pilot. And the pilot of the ship called Sparrow. Their mission find the element Eclaydian to save planet Earth from a coldness that could kill all life, due to the sun dying out. But crashing on the ice planet Attala was not what she wanted to do, but had no choice due to an electric surge in the ship. Now she has seven and a half feet of pure muscle and striking blue eyes of testosterone named Lodyn looking at her. Telling her she needs to leave before the storm gets worst or the Salthu will find them. Everytime she looks at the big guy she sees desire there and for some reason she starting to like the big hulking Attala.
Lodyn is part of the Attala guardsmen. After taking an oath of celibacy after their twenty-fifth birthday due to not finding a mate, they are giving injections to enhance their abilities to protect the city from the Salthu attacks. He is unsure of his feelings when he spotted the fiesty blonde and brilliant green eyes. Something in him is pushing to get closer to her. His feelings are over all the place. The guard, his oath, and most importantly his feeling and desires for the human woman in front of him. What is he ever going to do?
